A couple years later...
Aurora dodged a fireball before parrying another with her weapon: a golden bo staff. She conjured her concentrated light beam at her attacker but missed, seeing as the figure avoid with a spectacular jump. Her opponent: a man dressed in a red shirt, blue overalls and a red hat on his head...
With the letter "M" stitched on it.
The man was amazed at the projectile but focused on the task at hand. Tapping into his firebrand, he conjured up two more fireballs and hurled them at Aurora, who began to spin her staff to deflect the incoming projectiles. It did its part and the woman conjured up her own versions of his fireballs but with light instead. Throwing them, she hit her opponent in his chest were he emitted a glow...
And turned into a trophy.
Aurora felt the rush of adrenaline begin to leave, allowing her to rest. Though she had to admit, it was quite fun. The rush of a battle made her feel like all those days of training were not off waste.
You see, weeks after the creature's defeat, Lucian and Aurora did some training of their own. At first, she was nervous since the first time she used her ability, she fainted from exhaustion, but Lucian reassured her it would be fine and they would work on it. Couple of weeks later, Aurora began to master her photokinetic abilities. She was able to shoot energy beams in many forms like her "fireballs" and managed to create her bo staff from pure concentrated light.
Over time, she even helped defend the village, the one place she could call home. After the chimera's death, numerous creatures of the same spawn were started to appear, almost homing on the village in a way. But Lucian and Aurora were a force to be reckon with. They defeated every foe that appeared and all dissolved into the same purple spores as the creature. They pondered what does spores were but with the constant waves, they decided it could wait for now. Though in next few years, the spawns started to become last active, allowing the two warriors to breath. As the waves started to become slower, Aurora and Lucian started to get close to each other which eventually led to them dating.
But things changed when a hand appeared one day. The appendage greeted himself as Master Hand and told the village off a tournament with other worldly fighters. The village nominated that Lucian and Aurora should compete, the former excited about the challenge while the latter was a bit more apprehensive at first but thought it would be interesting.
And it sure was!
She fought against a brown gorilla with red neck tie first. He was a bit hard to defeat, but Aurora managed to get him after a sweet spot on her staff.
Next was an orange armor figure. The armor seemed to be feminine from what she could decipher and gave it her all. She was victorious as her light beam was able to explode a charge shot of plasma.
In her semifinals fight, Aurora battled a lime green dinosaur with a red saddle like shell and orangish colored boots. The dinosaur seemed to have quite the tongue and projectiles as he hurled dozens of green spotted eggs. After getting fed up with the spamming, Aurora generated a small cascade of light towards him which ended the fight.
And her finals, well you know how that went.
Lucian, on the other hand, was defeated in his first match. His arrogance against his opponent was no doubt misplaced. He mistaken the pink puffball with short stubs and red feet to be an easy fight.
How wrong he was.
Anyways, Aurora revived her opponent with a tap at the base. A glow came and went, revealing the character. Clutching his head, he looked up to the radiant woman who was extending her hand which he accepted.
"Woah-a. Not bad-a there, you are definitely a tough challenger to battle against-a," the man said in an Italian accent.
"You are not too bad yourself," Aurora complimented, "I mean I have had to defend a village from the same enemies, so fighting is like a second nature to me."
"Oh, don't I know it. Fighting the same enemy every time gets so repetitive. But at the same time it is rewarding."
Before the conversation continue, a booming voice interrupted them.
"Well done! Well done indeed. It appears we have our #1 fighter right here! Aurora!" Master Hand announced.
The other twelve fighters appeared on the field. There were the aforementioned fighters, along with a man in a green hat and tunic with a sword and shield that radiated a knight like aura, a humanoid fox in a grey vest and green pants with gadgets, a yellow mouse with a zigzag tail, brown stripes on his back, and red cheeks, a green man in the same attire as the other finalists but with green were the red was and a "L" on his hat, a pink puffball with a curl, a man with a red helmet and a purple colored jumpsuit and yellow gloves and boots, and a kid with a red cap and blue and yellow striped shirt, jean shorts, and red sneakers.
"Congratulations to all of you! You are the first to compete in the greatest tournament yet to come!" Master Hand said proudly.
Aurora, though happy she won, couldn't help get a bad feeling in her stomach about this appendage, perhaps it was just her nerves...
Following her gut led her to battle the hand on a purple floating platform with the other fighters.
Master Hand was planning to invade the other worlds the fighters came from. He had basically kidnapped the other worldly fighters from their dimensions and took the ones he deemed the most renowned. Their worlds would be perfect to conquer and rule. And this is something that Aurora felt wasn't right. Master Hand would use his polygon fighters to battle and conquer under the leadership of a metal clad version of Mario. It had failed seeing that the fighters opposed to this idea and beat them with their abilities and skills. They approached him on a floating stage, thanks to Fox's airwing, Samus's gunship, and Captain Falcon's Falcon Flyer, and approached the maniacal white gloved hand.
This would not stand. Aurora was able to get her information from some snooping around and she felt like she had to stand with the fighters. Call it hunch, but she wouldn't back down. According to the hand, she was deemed "Fighter 00." She didn't know why while Mario -she had learned the names after conversing with them- was called "Fighter 01."
Nonetheless, she summoned her weapon, spun it, and got in a defensive position. The others following in suit, ready for the battle against the entity.
Both Aurora and Mario dealt the final blow to Master Hand, sending him into the space background while exploding. After the last explosion, the fighters rejoiced, their worlds have been saved from the hand.
Well, most of the fighters.
Aurora stood there above her lover's body.
And cried.
Lucian had taken a bullet like attack from Master Hand and since he was as durable as the others, the attack did a massive amount to his body. Aurora fell to her knees and laid on his bodies, sobbing uncontrollably. She wished she could do something, anything to bring him back, but alas she didn't know the limits of her power. The heroes gave her space, knowing that they were close from their conversation.
Then his body began to glow, prompting Aurora to react in shock before her palms were also glowing with light. Lucian's body began to rise, shining bright. Everyone, even Aurora looked away to prevent any possible blinding.
The light eventually died down revealing an orb of light.
"A-Aurora?" It said.
"Lucian?!" She responded with a gasped.
The orb was indeed Lucian. Aurora proceeded to hug the orb, regardless of the blinding light it gave off.
"So what just happened?" Samus asked.
"I have no clue." Link responded.
"Pika?/Poyo?/Jiggly?" Pikachu, Kirby, and Jigglypuff just had quizzical faces.
The other heroes were curious on how Aurora either did or did not do that, the former sounding somewhat believable. But ignored it for now.
But it didn't matter right now, Aurora was just glad to have her lover back, even if he was now an orb of fluorescent energy.
Master Hand returned to his pocket dimension, the heroes had not defeated him. Floating and restoring his health, he vowed the defeat of those "Smashers" as he dubbed them.
"Grrrr. This war is far from over. I will have my revenge! And they will sorry!" He boomed in his dimension.
"Awwww. Someone upset?" An annoying and deranged voice asked/annoyed Master Hand.
Said hand turned to see his brother, Crazy Hand, twitching nonstop. "Perhaps I can be off attendance..." the twitching hand started.
"No. This requires a plan," Master Hand said, "not wild destruction."
"OH COME ON! That was one time!"
Master Hand, if he had a face, deadpanned at the statement.
"OKAY! Some maybe I'm a bit... destructive on some levels, but as an agent of dark, chaos is a main element!"
"Whatever. If you have a plan, speak it now before I go into what you can 'plotting mode.'"
The insane hand, if he had a face, became extra giddy.
"Alright. What we had some 'help' with our plans?"
"... I'm listening..."
