Six years later...
At Smash HQ, there was a brawl going on in the boxing ring. Two classic rivals going at it. Mario charged forward going for a Headbutt but was meet with a shield. Bowser grinned before dropkicking his adversary to the ropes. Mario caught himself and leapt back...
Before being caught with a net?
In the crowd, the current Smashers (Aurora, Link, Samus, Kirby, Pit, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Fox, and Pikachu) all looked in confusion at seeing the interference. The interference was a boy in a red shirt with a "1", black shorts, and blue sneakers. There was a small glint in his eyes as he captured Mario before tossing him away.
"HEY! What gives!?" Bowser snarled, "This is supposed to be a one on one!" The Koopa King roared and charged at the child. Having fought some of the other children fighters, Bowser often held back, seeing he had a soft spot for children considering his own and the Koopalings. But if anyone was going to beat Mario, it was going to be him!
Bowser rushed but was met with a boxing glove to his face before receiving an uppercut. Bowser stumbled back, getting more rage from the kid's actions. The other Smashers watched in amazement that Bowser was getting handed to by a kid! Who didn't even have any special powers from the looks of it, minus his seemingly ability to Pocket any projectile.
The timer eventually ended and the newcomer had won, standing triumphantly over Bowser's battered body, much to his humiliation. The Smashers in the audience came over to greet the winner. "Woah, sick moves kid!" Fox complimented. "Thank you," the boy said. "So what's a boy-a like you doing here?" Mario asked. The boy rubbed the back of his head, "well, I was sort invited here. I received a letter in my mailbox. I opened it and found myself here," he explained.
"What's your name?" Samus asked. "Hmmm... I really don't have one... perhaps you can call me Villager," the boy proclaimed. "Villager... not bad," Aurora commented, "Well, seeing as you came and gave a surprisingly rough beatdown to a king and Mario's longtime rival, I say we welcome you to becoming a Smasher."
And the newly dubbed Villager smiled at that.
Over the past eight years, the Smashers have come and go. The fighters: Wolf, Snake, Red (with Ivysaur and Squirtle) and Ice Climbers; were the ones to leave. Red sensed Charizard's wanting to stay and fight, so he agreed to let him. He gave him a small parting gift, a blue and black marble he called Charizardite X. Lucario himself found a marble of his own as well during a journey.
Bowser, Ganondorf, and Wario had "mellowed" out since joining the roster, Bowser and Wario mostly due to being used to invited to Mario's racing, parties, and sports events. Ganondorf often eyed Aurora, making her uncomfortable. It was like he was sensing something in her...
The training room had gotten a minor upgrade, with a targeting system the Smashers called Target Smash. And there was a holographic island that generate simulations of enemies from the Smashers' various worlds. They called it Smash Run.
The Smashers also had a garage now for their separate aircrafts and vehicles, including the Mario's gang karts, Airwings, Samus' gunship, Falcon's aircrafts, and even the Halberd, which was repaired thanks to Lucian. He found a way to salvage parts and put them together.
Link had dubbed his cartoon like counterpart "Toon Link" which reminded him all too much of Young Link when he first joined the Smashers. The cartoon did not mind, having grown accustomed to the nickname.
Pit, one day, found some floating ruins that reminded him of his own universe. He occasionally flew up there, enjoying the scenery.
R.O.B. -the defected robot- revealed it was the Ancient Minister back during the Subspace invasion. It thought it would be met with hostility but the Smashers understood its cause and was met with open arms, except for the villains.
Samus had worked on making her suit operational on its own but it backfired, so occasionally she fought in her Zero Suit, much to Captain Falcon's delight, which was often met with Pikachu shocking him from ogling her. Snake was more close mouthed with his attraction to the bounty hunter, at least before he left with the other fighters.
Lucian had been able to work on invitations for some fighters he thought would be nice additions to the roster. Since the Subspace Emissary days, he had been able to see dimensions for worthy fighters. Tapping into that power, he generated a few invitations for the fighters. Unfortunately, he had about eight only, one being the one Villager had. How he sent them is beyond the thought.
The orb had also found a way to see some fighters home AND back to this dimension. So whenever the Smashers wanted to go to their separate dimensions for some relaxation or intruding threats, they had a way.
But as usual, duty calls. But first, the Smashers would need some new help...
Aurora was starstruck as she viewed the Mario universe racing on Rainbow Road. She found obvious amazed that they were driving on a rainbow and outer space! Mario had mentioned some of his galaxy adventures, but seeing this blew her mind. She was watching from a distance, hovering with her newly discovered wings.
She discovered this ability one day when she was taking on Pit. She was matching him blade to staff, parrying each others moves. Pit took off and Aurora was going to try and leap to strike the angel. Imagine her surprise when she glowed white and two angelic wings sprouted from her back. Gobsmacked, Pit was met with a jolt of electricity from the light user. The attack rendered Pit unconscious as he reverted back to a trophy.
Watching the race from a distance, she saw Kirby in the background zooming around. He was enjoying himself on his Warp Star, even to the point when he dashed by Donkey Kong and Mario who were in the lead. Aurora giggled at his antics, the Star Warrior was still a baby after all.
Though that was interrupted when a blue comet knocked Kirby off course and onto the track. Aurora flew after Kirby, asking if he was okay. With a Poyo, Aurora was glad...
Then a chubby yellow star met the two, tilting its body in confusion. Aurora, for one, was not used to seeing a living star (except maybe Staryu when it was summoned but that's a starfish) but then again she has meant many characters these days.
"Hey! What gives pinky?!" Bowser roared as the racers arrived to the scene. Donkey Kong poked Kirby, wondering if he was okay. "Bowser, perhaps Kirby was just trying to join the race," Peach explained. Bowser just huffed, still wanting to win the race.
Mario then noticed the star creature, "Woah! A Luma-a!" He exclaimed, "and where there is a Luma..."
The comet from before turned to the rainbow track before revealing a woman inside. The woman had platinum blonde hair, a long flowing teal dress and a wand in her hand. "Ah, there you are..." she said in a regal tone. The Luma chirped and hugged her, before she addressed the crowd. "Oh my, hello again everyone," she addressed. "Hello again, Rosalina-a!" Mario greeted, "I would like to introduce you to Kirby and Aurora." Kirby gave a "Hi" and Aurora waved before something clicked in her head.
"Wait, you are Rosalina?" She asked. "Yes, that is me," the cosmic goddess answered. "I have a letter addressed for you," Aurora said before pulling the letter out. With a flick of her wand, the letter levitated to Rosalina's hand which she opened it. "Well, this is certainly interesting..." she said, reading it. "And you will be happy to know..."
Rosalina's eyes sparkled and Luma chirped in agreement, "We accept."
Aurora, Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, and Link were in the Mesa of the World of Trophies. The HQ had detected an incoming fighter, so they took off in Samus' gunship, with Rosalina and Luma flying alongside the bounty hunter's ship.
There was a small blip sound and the five fighters turned to see a small blue armored android, from the looks of it. The blue robot leapt and blipped before landing in front of them. The fighters readied themselves, he seemed friendly from the looks but he needed to me the "requirements" if you will to become a Smasher.
The robot started off with firing a small assortment of yellow dots at the quintet, who ignored it. Mario rushed in first, calling upon his gifts of fire, and leapt to deliver a stomp. The robot grabbed Jumpman with ease and tossed him aside. Link went next, firing an arrow that was avoided. Kirby snuck in a delivered a flurry of jabs before sending him up. With the help of Aurora's air manipulation, Donkey Kong was lifted up and delivered a two downward punch that sent the robot down to the ground, kicking up dust. Aurora saw the robot was a he and began to spark. Maybe he wasn't Smasher material...
But that changed when he generated literal saw blades. He threw them at Mario and Link, the former being knocked back with his currency scattering and the latter using his shield to block the blades. The robot then fired a small mine that stuck to Kirby... before exploding. The robot conjured a barrier of leaves which Aurora took out with stones. The robot avoided the stones and fired his knuckle at Donkey Kong, which surprisingly sent him far. Mario and Link rushed him, the robot responded with slashing Mario and blocking the Master Sword with a pyrokinetic sword. Aurora stopped playing range and rushed with her Light Staff but the robot lifted her from the tip and fling her away. She caught herself with using an air cushion. She was glad she didn't received the next attack, which the blue newcomer slammed his cannons down and released a wave of flames at the four attackers who were trying to jump him.
Aurora climbed to her feet before making a placate gesture to the robot that they just attacked. "Hey, hey," she started. The blue robot turned his cannon before speaking: "Alright! You want some more? I barely scratched you, but next time I'll make it hurt!" "Relax, we were just testing you," Aurora informed. "Testing me?" The robot questioned, he slightly lowered his cannon but was still hostile. "Yes. How did you get here?" She asked. "...I got teleported here... but what does that have to do with anything?" The robot informed.
"Because you are like most of us," Samus said, lowering herself down from her position to the robot with Rosalina at her side. "And who are you?" The robot asked, "another Robot Master for me to scrap?" "Not sure what a 'Robot Master' is, but seeing as you defeated those four," Samus gestured to the fighters picking themselves up, "it seems you have Smasher material." "Perhaps, we should know your name at this point," Aurora suggested
"... Okay," the robot reluctantly answered, "My name is Mega Man, but what's a Smasher?" "We can explain-a everything at the base," Mario said coming over before noticing Donkey Kong slightly limping. "You okay Donkey Kong-a?" The ape cringed but nodded, trying to state everything was okay. Rosalina shook her head, "No Donkey Kong, you are not fine. I'll warp you to the base," she said before flicking her wand and enveloped Donkey Kong in a cosmic bubble that sent him flying towards the base. "And we are not getting warped back to base because...?" Aurora asked. "Lucian detected another fighter... well fighters. He picked up a familiar signature. Said there from Mario's universe," Samus informed. "Mama Mia! More fighters? And from my universe?" Mario asked in shock. "Yep, we better go and greet them. Any ideas who they could be?" Aurora said. "Not sure, but it will be nice to see a familiar face-a!" Mario said with high hopes.
Mario's face turned to a glare at the fighters before him, Rosalina shared his look with her Luma at her side. "So, I'm guessing they are not friends of yours," Mega Man remarked.
The fighters were a bunch of children from the looks of it. One looked like a miniature version of Bowser, one was a girl evidence in the pink bow, one had huge blue hair, one had black scales and a white face with a black star, one wore glasses and had green hair, one was the smallest with an orange shell and colorful mohawk, and one had a light blue mohawk. All were in a Clown Car like Bowser uses to ride.
"Mario, any idea who we are up against?" Aurora asked, readying her Light Staff. "Guys, meet-a the Bowser Junior and the Koopalings-a. Bowser Junior-a is Bowser's son and the Koopalings-a are some of his top lieutenants," Mario explained.
"So, this... child is what? A future king or evil?" Mega Man questioned, not even a day and he was already meeting even more different characters than what he's used to.
"All I can say is be on your guard," Mario warned before Bowser Junior addressed his father's nemesis. "MARIO! I'm not sure who your new friends are but I will defeat you for my father's sake!" The future prince dashed forward before firing a cannonball at the group. The ball exploded near Mario, Mega Man, and Aurora who dodged before readying themselves. The Clown Car dropped a wrecking ball that was swung and swept the ground, intent on crushing whoever got in its way.
Mario then charged the prince only for the Koopa to bring two drills and punish the plumber. Mario brought up his shield in time, the drills not damaging but slowly causing it to shrink. The shield broke and knocked Mario near Mega Man. "Time to shift gears!" The Koopa yelled before his Clown Car turned into a kart from the looks of it. Bowser Junior rammed Mario, doing a donut and rammed Mega Man, punching the air for emphasis as he did. Aurora rose her hand, creating an Earth slide that manipulated Bowser Junior's track and was sent flying back to the opening.
Samus readied her cannon, Link held his Master Sword defensively, Kirby put his stubs up, Aurora readied her staff, Rosalina and her Luma floated behind, Mario and Mega Man got to their feet before readied themselves.
"Hahaha! Koopalings with me!" Bowser Junior said and the rest of the Koopalings made their way over. Both sides glared at their opponents before leaping into the fray.
Bowser Junior took on Mario and Aurora, the former due to his experience and hoping to reason with the young prince. Bowser Junior drew his Paintbrush and blocked Aurora's staff before turning it into a duel. Using her wings, she took flight to keep up with the Clown Car while avoiding any of its weapons, from a fork to tongue. Junior eventually landed a lucky shot with a wind up Mecha Koopa that exploded in Aurora's face.
Hovering down, Aurora brushed off the explosion as Mario leapt in the air. Covering his fist in fire, Mario attempted to use a downward punch but was caught by a claw from the vehicle before being bashed with a boxing glove. Mario was pummeled relentless, much to the prince's joy which led to him getting electrocuted by Aurora. Bowser Jr and the Clown Car began to flinch and malfunction respectively, leading them to fall on the pile of beaten up Koopalings.
Mario and Aurora approached the pile as the other Smashers arrived and readied themselves in case there was a last ditch effort.
"Uhhhhh..." Junior groaned before gulping at the many weapons and people/things that were pointed and glared at him. "Hehe," the Koopa sheepishly said, "perhaps we could start over?"
Aurora flew through many hoops within the training room alongside Pit, Charizard, and Meta Knight. There were fighters around them doing various exercises to ready themselves for any potential threats and the tournament.
Donkey Kong was lifting weights, Wario too but with a lighter load.
Pikachu fired off his electric attacks at moving targets.
Samus, clad in her Zero Suit, was doing flips and performing acrobatic feats.
Fox and Falco were doing simulations with their Airwings.
The sandbag was receiving punches from a newcomer: a short boxer with a black tank top, green shorts, and black converses. He went by the name Little Mac. His recruitment was one of the more civil ones with a letter that Donkey Kong delivered since he was no stranger to battling him.
And finally, Mario, Link, and Kirby were practicing... yoga. They were watching a white skinned woman in a blue tank top and black sweats with grey hair in a ponytail on a screen, holding a Tree Pose as she called it.
Mario was concentrating on holding the pose, before being tapped on the shoulder. He turned around...
And was greeted by the same woman. "Your form is not bad, but can you do this?" She asked before using the Warrior Pose that sent the three fighters flying.
Mario was sent flying towards the aerial fighters who stopped their flight exercises, Link near the weights, and Kirby over near the gymnastics area.
"Oops," the woman said, "Sorry about that." "It's-a fine," Mario said, being slightly disoriented, "You are pretty strong-a to send us flying like that." "Well, I didn't just get this invitation to work all of you out," the woman said, holding up an invitation. "Nice. So what's your name?" Aurora asked. "Well, I do not really have a name," the woman admitted, "but perhaps you can call me, Wii Fit Trainer!"
"Wii Fit Trainer, huh?... Yep, I can agree with that," Aurora agreed.
Pit, Link, and Aurora flew to the aerial ruins the angel found. Aurora wanted to go for some possible answers. Tabuu's words still rang in her head about destiny. Hopefully these ruins could tell her what the being meant by destiny. The two warriors went to spar and Aurora found the temple Pit had mentioned near the ruins. Aurora glided herself over to find any depictions.
Instead she was greet with a woman with long flowing green hair and a Greek like dress with golden designs. She seemed to be observing some sort of screen. Aurora didn't know if she was friend or foe, so summoning her staff she banged it against the floor, signaling her presence. The woman turned around as Aurora asked, "Who are you?" "Oh! You must be Aurora!" The woman said as she raised her hand in a placating manner, "I am Palutena, the Goddess of Skyworld and Light where I come from."
Palutena? As in the goddess Pit serves? "Oh, you're Palutena?" Aurora repeated, lowering her weapon. "Yep!" The goddess replied cheerfully. Then Palutena heard something before slightly sighing, "Looks like Pit needs my help. Well, time to prove why I'm here! Oh and before I forget, you must check out this mural I saw in this temple," She said before warping away.
Aurora wasn't sure to where Palutena warped to, possibly to the area Pit and Link went as they were sparring. She traversed through the temple, searching for a mural Palutena had mentioned which she came across eventually. The mural was divided between two entities.
One side had a orb of light with wings circling around it. Aurora briefly recalled that same orb being Lucian and his people referred to as Galeem. Alongside Galeem were these white beings both praising and fighting the beings on the other side.
The other side had an eyeball with tentacles circling around it. Aurora deduced that the eyeball was Dharkon, Galeem's eternal rival and ruler of darkness. Like Galeem's depiction though, beings were praising and fighting the light side except they were purple.
In the center of the mural where there is a line between them was a being of both light and dark. The person had a pair wings on Galeem's side, but also two tentacles on Dharkon's side. And a pair of butterfly wings on both sides.
Aurora was greatly confused. Those wings briefly looked like Tabuu's. Could this being be a descendant? This was becoming too much for to handle. Deciding to let it go for now, Aurora left the temple to find Pit and Link.
Upon her descent, she found Palutena, Link, Pit, a young girl with blonde hair and a nature like dress, and another angel that resembled Pit but mostly wore black as he carried a purple staff. Aurora landed, making her presence know to the five.
"Hey Aurora!" Pit cried. "Hi again, Pit." Aurora addressed. "I want you to meet Palutena, Goddess of Light and Skyworld and Pittoo, my clone!" The blonde girl let out a small cough. "Oh and Virdi, Goddess of Nature."
"How many times have I told you not to call me that!" Pittoo -Dark Pit- huffed, clearly not enjoying the nickname he was given.
Aurora just chuckled at that.
A/N: This is the first half of Super Smash Bros. 4.
