Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Hey, Fox, whatcha doing over there?
DarkFoxKit: *Was looking at the TV* I've been marathoning Danny Phantom for the past two weeks.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Seriously? You need to take a break!
DarkFoxKit: But I'm so inspired. I've also been reading a lot of Danny Phantom fanfictions. There are so many great ideas to use, and I want to incorporate these ideas into We Are Phantoms! I mean I can't believe I haven't even thought of half of this stuff I see in fanfiction.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Fox, calm down.
Andy: *Walks in* Hey you two, finally back for another update?
DarkFoxKit: *Looks at Andy* Hey Andy! There's a lot of stuff we have to add in your world~
Andy: *Stops and frowns in worry* What… exactly do you mean by that, Fox?
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Andy, you need to run. Fox has been reading a ton of fanfictions!
Andy: What's so bad about that?
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Do you know the type of fanfiction she reads? *Andy blinks at Onyx* She's been reading other Danny Phantom Phanfics.
Andy: *Eyes widen in horror* Oh… oh no…
DarkFoxKit: Andy, why don't you come here and take a look at the ideas I've wrote for you~?
Andy: *Gives a nervous smile* I uh… I can see that you're busy, so… I'll leave you to it. *Quickly runs off screen*
DarkFoxKit: You can run Andy, but you can't hide~ *Starts skipping after Andy*
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Oh boy… uhh… you readers better get to the story. I need to go save Andy. *Rushes after Andy and Fox*
Chapter 51: Love is in the Air
I stared at Valerie for what could've been a few seconds or minutes. Valerie looked like she was trying not to laugh.
I managed to snap myself out of it and said, "S-sorry, I'm not sure if I heard you right. Did you just ask me to go on a date with you?"
"You heard me right," Valerie responded with a small smirk. "Let's go on a date. I think you owe me from all the times I've saved you."
"Oh come on, that's just not fair," I grumbled, before giving her a puzzled look. "But… not that I'm ungrateful or anything, why do you want to go on a date with me? I mean I'm pretty sure you never saw me as your… um… boyfriend type?"
"It's not gonna be an actual date, you goof, I need your help on an assignment," Valerie explained. "Specifically I need a 'date' to go with me to a Nasty Burger and help me investigate while also being able to pull off the 'dating' act."
A date with Valerie at the Nasty Burger… suddenly my vision of having a date with her at the Nasty Burger made sense.
"Why do you want to have a date at the Nasty Burger? I mean don't you work there part time?" I asked.
"We won't be going to the Nasty Burger that I work at, we'll be going to one in the city," Valerie explained.
"Why?" I asked. "Is there something at that particular Nasty Burger that you want to check out?"
"Yes, there is, but it probably would be better to talk about later on," Valerie said. "Now, will you go on a date with me?"
"If I refuse, you'd probably go ask Dash, right?" I said as I crossed my arms.
Valerie blinked before she said, "How'd you guess?"
"Well he is a friend, and knowing you, you'd go to him next to help you investigate if I refused," I said with a shrug. "Alright, I guess I don't mind going on a 'date' with you, Val. But you'll have to tell me what's going on."
"You'll have to wait until after school, Andy, right now isn't the best time to talk about things like that," Valerie said quietly. "Think of what the teachers might assume if they overheard us? They'd probably send us to the new non-ghost school psychologist."
"What happened to Mr. Carbon?" I asked. Mr. Carbon has been the school psychologist since Spectra and Bertrend left, and he's been a pretty good man who actually wanted to help teens.
"He's taking some time off, apparently he got a home visit from a ghost that scared him out of his wits," Valerie responded. "The new one is only here temporarily, Mr. Carbon will probably be back in a month or two. Anyways, come meet me outside of the school later, okay?"
"Okay," I said before we heard the school bell go off, warning us that classes were about to start.
"We better head to our classes, we don't want to be late," Valerie said before she started to walk away. "See you later!"
I never really thought about going on a date with Valerie before. We did go to that dance a while back, with the dragon incident and all, but we went as friends. I wonder if the fact that Valerie wanted to investigate the Nasty Burger in the city with me have anything to do with that vision Danny and I had earlier?
I didn't have the chance to tell Danny, Tucker or Sam about this fake date I had with Valerie until lunch. When I told them they all looked at me in disbelief.
"You're kidding, she asked you on a date?" Tucker asked, holding up his ham sandwich.
"He said a fake date, Tucker, I doubt Valerie would ever want to actually date," Sam said, eating her salad. "No offense, Andy. I just mean that she's more of the lone wolf type. The type that isn't going to waste time on relationships and whatnot."
"At least it wasn't Paulina who asked Andy," Danny chuckled.
I rolled my eyes at that before I said, "Paulina only wants to date popular boys, and you in your ghost form."
"You probably would've been upset if she had asked him, Danny," Tucker chuckled to my brother. "I also wonder what Paulina would think of you in your ghost form, Andy. I mean you look pretty identical to Danny, would she also have a crush on you due to her crush on Danny?"
I stared at Tucker, feeling goosebumps before I looked down at my mac and cheese lunch. Suddenly I lost my appetite. "I… hope not. I don't think she even knows that Danny Phantom has a twin brother, or if she does she didn't say anything."
"I highly doubt anyone really knows you exist," Sam said with a small sigh. "And if anyone does see you, they might just think that Danny found a way to clone himself so he could fight ghosts more easily."
"Even though I'm still working on that," Danny grumbled.
"Still having the two heads one body problem?" Sam asked.
"... Yes, although the illusion clones do help," Danny said. "I did manage to create physical clones before in that Ecto Suit…"
"Yeah, but you were super powered by the Ecto Skeleton Suit during that fight," Tucker stated.
While Danny, Sam and Tucker were talking about Danny's duplication powers, I was thinking about my other visions. I remember seeing one with Danny and Sam dating in the same Nasty Burger as Valerie and I did. Should I make that suggestion? It might help Danny and Sam admit their crush on each other, and it would be nice to have some backup.
"Andy? Aaaaaaaandy?" Tucker said as he waved his hand in front of my face. "You there, Andy? Tuck to Andy, come in, Andy."
I lightly slapped Tucker's hand away before giving him a slightly annoyed glare, "I heard you."
"You sure? Cause you pretty much ignored Danny's offer," Tucker said.
I blinked and looked at Danny, "Offer?"
"Yeah, Sam and I can come with you two as backup, we can sit a few booths away to keep an eye on you and Valerie," Danny suggested.
I almost wanted to laugh at that, Danny had the same idea I had.
"As much as you trust her, I still don't fully trust her yet," Sam said with a frown. "And before you ask, no, we wouldn't be going as a couple. Just two friends hanging out at a Nasty Burger."
"Then can I come?" Tucker asked.
"No," Sam and Danny responded at the same time.
Danny and Sam looked at each other for a second and I tried not to laugh. Those two are in sync with each other again.
"Awww, why not?" Tucker pouted. "It's not like it's a date, is it?"
"No, but we'll be trying to stay low key, and… I'm sorry to say this-" Sam began to say.
"No you're not," Tucker cut in.
"But you're not the best at stealth," Sam finished.
I looked over at Danny, "So what brought this on? Do you really not trust Valerie to be alone with me or… is it because of… the you-know-what?"
"I just don't want to leave you all on your own if something happens," Danny explained. "I mean like you said, it's a mission, so it's always good to have some backup nearby. And I guess it is a little related to that."
"I suppose having four heads is better than two in this case," I said quietly. "Maybe I could tell Valerie it'll be a double date."
"It's not a date, Andy," Danny hissed, his cheeks blushing a bit and I gave a small smirk.
"And it'd probably be best to not let her know. She probably wouldn't like us joining in on a mission that she planned on doing with just you," Sam added. "So how about you don't tell her anything. If she spots us, we can just say we wanted to try out a different Nasty Burger to see if the food was any better."
"Good point, Valerie is pretty uptight about things like that," I sighed.
"So you guys get to go on a secret mission and I'm left out of it?" Tucker frowned. "Thanks a lot guys. And what is the thing you two were hinting at? You plan on telling us?"
"It's nothing important," I answered. "Just something between us twins."
I looked over at Tucker, he has been a part of our team longer than I have, it would be a shame to leave him out. "Maybe you could give us small cameras and have them hidden in the Nasty Burger?"
"Actually, I have an even better idea than that, Andy," Danny said. "Tucker, do you think you could wire some of Andy's clothes with a mic and maybe a hidden camera? That way you could help Andy keep an eye on everything from a distance."
"Yeah, I could do that," Tucker said with a smile. "I'd be like Andy's guardian angel. I'd be able to hook it up to a network that way I could watch, listen, and record everything in real time. I could also probably hook up a few different types of cameras. Andy, you should choose out the outfit you're gonna wear to your fake date and bring it over to my place. I'll have it back to you in one or two days, fully ready to go. I'll give Danny and Sam a earpiece so I can let them know what's going on in your booth with Valerie, Andy."
"Okay, sounds good to me," I said in agreement. "So Val wants me to meet her outside after school, maybe she'll give me the details about it then."
"I'm sure she will, but for now, we should finish up our lunches," Sam said. "Lunch will be ending in about 5 minutes."
"Good idea, I wouldn't want my cafeteria food to go to waste," Danny said as he picked up a spoonful of mashed potatoes, only for almost all of it to stick to his spoon. "... That is if it hasn't gone to waste yesterday already. Hey Andy, can I have your mac and cheese?"
"Some of it is cold," I shrugged as I slid my plate over to Danny.
Then I heard Paulina and Star's voices behind us, she and Star must be walking past us.
"Did you hear? Just about everyone one has been paired off. I mean if you like… look around, you'd see almost everyone has a boyfriend and girlfriend," Star said to Paulina. "Maybe we should find some boyfriends too so we're not out of the love loop."
"I'm not going to get just anyone as a boyfriend simply because everyone else is doing it," Paulina replied. "I'm too good for just anyone."
"What about Dash Baxter? You used to like him, didn't you?" Star asked.
"Used to is the key words, Star," Paulina said. "At this point I'd be just as well off dating one of the Fentwins."
Fentwins huh? That's a new one. Though I guess I can't put it past Paulina to come up with a new title for us since Dash quit bullying us, though I am a bit surprised nobody came up with it earlier..
"So who would you want to be your boyfriend, Paulina?" Star asked as they were getting back to their table.
"Danny Phantom," Paulina said, not taking even a second to think about her answer.
Star gave a small chuckle before she said, "Yeah, he's pretty hot, but he's a ghost, isn't he? Would it even work out?"
"I'm sure there'd be some way to make it work," Paulina said with a smile. "Though if I had to go with someone at this school I'd probably have to say Kwan, he's practically the new head jock after what Dash went through."
"True, but I get the feeling you rather save yourself for that phantom boy," Star chuckled.
"Of course I would, I heard rumors that he's able to split himself into two," Paulina said. "That means I can put an arm over each of their shoulders. It would be adorable and it would make me legendarily popular. I would never have to worry about my image ever again."
I couldn't help but deadpan at that and groaned to myself. I would never want Paulina to put her arms around me, I would have to burn my shoulders after that. I did notice Danny giving a small smile at that, he probably loved the idea. Sam rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"If you like Paulina so much, why don't you just go ghost and date her?" Sam asked with an annoyed tone.
Danny gave a small frown before he said, "Hey, I want Paulina to like me for me, not because I'm a ghost superhero."
At least Danny had some sense not to use his powers for personal gain… most of the time.
"I doubt she'll ever like you for you, Danny, she'd only like you if she was delusional or sick or something," Sam bluntly stated.
"I'm sure Paulina will like my brother just the way he is if she'd just get to know him," I said. "She already likes his ghost self after all."
As soon as I said that, Danny, Tucker, and Sam stared at me. No sooner did they stare at me did the school bell go off, letting us know that lunch was over.
"Did you mean that, bro?" Danny asked as we stood up from our seats.
"Yeah, of course I do," I said with a small smile. "But maybe you should be looking at someone else first."
Danny blinked at me, but I said no more.
"Maybe even someone a bit closer than you'd think," Tucker added with a wink.
Sam slapped Tucker upside the head, "Shut it."
When school was over, I put my books away into my locker. I guess Valerie is waiting for me outside. It was kind of weird, even though it was a fake date, I still felt kind of nervous. Danny, Tucker and Sam told me they'll go ahead and find a place to hide nearby so they can listen to what Valerie has to say about the Nasty Burger, though I guess Danny could just hold on to Tucker and Sam and turn them invisible.
When I turned around, I almost bumped into someone.
"Dash?" I said in surprise when I looked up to see who I almost bumped into.
It was Dash, and he had his arms around a girl with shortish black hair and… somewhat glowing purple eyes? That's unusual. I know my ghost form has glowing purple eyes, but that's my ghost form, but I don't sense ghost aura or anything ghostly about her at all. The girl also wore a black shirt and white pants. If it weren't for the white pants, I'd say she was more goth than Sam.
"Hey, Andy," Dash said with a smile. "Katrina, this is my friend I was telling you about earlier, Andy. The one with the really exciting family."
"Oh uh, hello," I greeted, feeling a little awkward. "Katrina, right? You're new here, aren't you?"
Katrina gave a nod and said, "Yeah, I just started here last week."
"And she's already fitting in perfectly," Dash said with a smile. "Mr. Lancer had me show her around the school, and we hit it off after that."
"So you two are… dating?" I asked.
"Yup, and we couldn't be happier," Dash responded with an even bigger smile.
"Dash has been so helpful to me, and we've talked a lot with each other," Katrina said. "I'm also glad I get to meet you, Andy. You stood up for Dash when he was being hurt by Bert."
"Heh, don't mention it," I said with a sheepish chuckle, I didn't think Dash would've ever told anyone about that.
"So when are you and Val going to start dating?" Dash asked me out of the blue.
"W-what?" I looked at the jock in surprise. "Why would Val and I be going out with each other?"
"Well I've seen you two hanging out more often lately, so I figured you to move from friends to a couple," Dash said with a teasy grin. "I think you two would be perfect for each other."
"Besides, it seems we're not the only teen couple around this school lately," Katrina pointed out. "At least give it a try with Valerie. From what Dash told me, you two get along pretty well."
"H-hey, I'm not-" I began to say.
"Come on Andy, don't deny it," Dash said with a smirk.
I sighed before I said, "You two just go on, I have to meet with Valerie."
"Oh you do, huh?" Katrina smiled. "I knew she liked you."
Great, even the new girl is teasing me. I didn't know how to feel about that.
"We'll see you later, Andy," Dash said. "I hope to hear you and Val hook up soon."
"We're not hooking up!" I yelled as he and Katrina walked away.
"You keep saying that!" Dash yelled back with a chuckle.
Ugh, now I know how Danny and Sam feels... I guess I'll just have to prove it to Dash and Katrina later. Valerie's waiting for me.
I walked out of the school, seeing Valerie standing near the front door.
"Finally, what took you so long?" Valerie asked.
"I ran into Dash," I answered. "He's dating the new girl from the looks of it."
"Ahh, I heard about that earlier. I wonder if it has anything to do with the reason I would like to go on a 'date' with you," Valerie said. "Let's walk and talk."
"Okay," I said before we started walking on the sidewalk. "So why do you want to investigate the Nasty Burger in the city and why do you need to have a date with you?"
"Did you see all the brand new couples at school today?" Valerie asked.
"Well yeah, they're everywhere." I nodded. "Pretty hard to miss. Do you think something's going on?"
"Look around right now, as we're walking," Valerie said, not answering my question.
I looked around and was somewhat surprised when I saw that the park and sidewalks were filled with couples holding hands. Sure, normally you'd see a few couples holding hands, but it appeared that almost half the town had decided to hook up with each other.
"... This is really weird. I mean teens hooking up in a school is one thing, but almost half the town?" I said with a frown. "Do you think a ghost is behind this... love epidemic?"
"That's my theory. I've been keeping track on the 'couples' for the last few days and found that they all had one thing in common, they've all been to a Nasty Burger," Valerie stated. "I don't know exactly what's going on inside Nasty Burger, but something strange is happening."
I thought back to my vision, those voices and that vat of weird liquid I saw… could those be connected to what's going on now?
"Alright, sounds like we should investigate if it is a ghost," I said. "What time should we meet at the Nasty Burger in the city?"
"Hmmm, maybe tomorrow, after school, that way we'll have the whole weekend to investigate," Valerie said.
"Okay, sounds like a plan," I agreed.
"Well not right after school, we should go home and get whatever supplies we will need as well as change out of the clothes we wore to school. I don't know about you, but I prefer to take a shower right after I get home, especially since the school showers are absolutely terrible," Valerie said. "So maybe we'll meet there at around… does 6 work for you?"
"It should," I said, hoping nothing else happens at that time that would keep me from going.
"Should?" Valerie asked.
"Ah, well you never know what could happen. A ghost could attack me along the way or something," I explained.
"Well let's try to be there around 6, and try to be safe. I don't want my 'date' to end up ghost bait," Valerie said with a chuckle at the end.
"Hey, you know I can handle myself against ghosts." I smiled playfully. "You just be careful too."
"You sure Tucker will be able to get a camera on those clothes before my supposed date with Valerie tomorrow?" I asked Danny as we sat on the couch in our living room.
"Knowing him he will probably fit multiple cameras and microphones to the clothes without it even being noticeable. I mean he probably has super tiny cameras like those spies use in movies," Danny responded with a chuckle.
"He really doesn't need to over do it," I sighed. "I just don't want Val to notice something's up with my clothes."
Danny then gave me a smile.
"What?" I asked, knowing that smile.
"You almost sound like you're looking forward to this date," Danny pointed out.
I glared at him, "It's just to investigate this weird love epidemic, nothing more, alright? Besides, shouldn't you be getting ready for your 'hang out' with Sam?"
"Tuck said he'd take care of the tech, all we'll need are the earpieces so he can communicate to us. Otherwise we just need to wear some clothes, and I'm not planning on overdoing it. I plan on wearing some relaxed clothes like you would if you invited a friend to go hang out at a restaurant," Danny answered.
"Uh-huh," I looked at Danny, he was still smiling at me. "You do realize I'm 'dating' a ghost huntress who has a serious grudge against you, and, by extension, me, right?"
"If we need to go ghost while you're on your date, we can head to the bathroom. I'll probably have a hoodie with me in case I need to hide my face," Danny said.
"That's not the point. Aren't you worried?" I asked.
"About what?" Danny asked.
I sighed, "Aren't you worried that if I get too close, Valerie may find out our secret?"
"I trust you not to reveal our secret, bro," Danny said with a shrug. "And you've been hanging out with her for a while, if she hasn't already figured it out, I doubt she will unless you straight up tell her."
Danny's got a point. I have known Valerie since even before Danny's accident.
Then Jazz came walking by us, looking at a magazine.
"Jazz, don't tell me you're looking at Genius Magazine again," I sighed. "I'm pretty sure inventing ghost weapons doesn't count as genius magazine material."
"I'm not looking at Genius Magazine, it's something I'm using with my current project," Jazz said as she closed the magazine. "So how was school?"
"It was… odd," Danny answered.
Jazz raised an eyebrow.
"Jazz, we go to the same school, you haven't noticed anything weird?" I asked.
"I saw that there were a few more couples than normal, but I didn't really give it much mind," Jazz responded. "I was too focused on school work and my project to really notice much besides that."
"Your project? You mean your self mission to try and get me to get over my fear of teddy bears?" I asked, since I remember her saying she would with determination.
"I can't tell you what my project is, Andy, it's confidential," Jazz said with a smile.
"It's not just in school," Danny said, continuing from the couple conversation. "It almost seems like half the town has fallen in love."
"We think there might be a ghost behind it, it's just not normal for people to fall in love so suddenly and quickly like this," I added.
"You might be right, unless it relates to psychology. In some instances when someone sees others falling in love it makes them also want to find someone to fall in love with," Jazz said. "But if half the town is falling in love, then it can't be explained with standard psychology."
"Well, wish us luck then," Danny said.
"I hope that whatever love spell these people are under won't affect us." I frowned.
"Hey, I'm sure you two can figure it out," Jazz said with a smile. "Now if you'll excuse me, I think I found something neat in this magazine for my project."
As I watch Jazz walk out of the living room, I looked at Danny, "I'm starting to get an uneasy feeling with what Jazz is planning."
"I think we all have a reason to feel uneasy, especially with her being so vague and secretive," Danny said with a frown. "She's normally extremely open, so when she's secretive it's unsettling."
Danny was right, the only time when Jazz gets this secretive is when she was planning something. But I can't worry about our sister right now, I have to focus on the investigation tomorrow.
"Now, let's go do our homework, we got a load of math homework today," Danny said. "Apparently our math teacher is upset that he isn't in a relationship, so he gave us two weeks worth of work and said it was due tomorrow…"
"He needs a hobby," I grumbled. "Let's just be glad Vlad isn't here."
It was a little awkward at school. I don't think a lot of the students were even paying attention in class, most of them seemed too busy looking at each other. Some of the teachers were also distracted and a few of them even gave us free period so they could go to see their… cutie wooties… Yeah… one of the teachers said that and it made me cringe so hard… Although as far as nicknames goes, that one wasn't too bad. There were some that were… almost inappropriate.
Anyways, I started to wonder why we even came to school today since everyone seemed to just want to focus on their supposed significant other. The very few who didn't have a boyfriend or girlfriend felt alienated from everyone else, and I felt bad for them.
While I was at my locker, taking out some of my textbooks, I saw Star holding hands with Kwan. They were smiling at each other. It looks like they got bitten by the love bug too, if that is what's causing this anyways. They were rubbing noses with each other… this was getting too lovey dovey for me. I quickly closed my locker door and left for my next class.
A little bit later, when I was heading back to my locker again, I was passing by Paulina. I noticed something from the corner of my eye as I was passing Paulina and stopped to look at her locker.
"Danny Phantom… oh how I wish you would show yourself to me and be my boyfriend," Paulina said with a small sigh.
This was the second or maybe third time I was looking at her Danny Phantom shrine, and I swear that it looks even bigger than before. Although I do have to wonder if Paulina isn't affected by this weird love epidemic it's because of her obsession with my brother's ghost form?
Paulina closed her locker shrine and turned around, only to freeze when she saw me standing here.
"Oh, Andy, hello, I'm going to head off to class now," Paulina quickly said before she walked away.
I sighed to myself, "That girl has a problem."
It was then that I noticed she used my actual name and didn't use a nickname for me or call me by my last name. I wonder if it was because she was too flustered, or if maybe she's starting to respect me? … Nah.
Our math teacher was being pretty strict, since he was the only one who can't seem to get a date. Math was never my best subject, so I really didn't like being here. I was surprised to see Mr. Lancer was going out with Principal Ishiyama.
After a long day, being trapped in a school full of lovesick people, I was more than happy to leave. I was just putting away my textbooks in my locker when I heard Dash's voice behind me.
"Hey, Andy, you ready for that date of yours?" Dash asked.
I nearly jumped out of my skin, I'm just glad I didn't turn intangible or invisible. I turned around to see Dash and Katrina behind me.
"What date?" I asked, I was pretty sure I didn't mention going on a date with Valerie to Dash or Katrina.
"Your date with Valerie," Dash asked. "I overheard you and Val talking about it yesterday but I didn't want to say anything at the time. Then I saw you two walking together after school."
"Dash, if you heard everything then you know it's not a real date," I pointed out.
"Sure, that's how it starts usually," Katrina giggled. "From what Dash told me, you and Valerie hang out a lot together, right? You must have a lot in common."
"I don't always hang out with Valerie," I grumbled. "I hang out with Danny and my friends too."
"But don't you usually hang out with Valerie alone?" Katrina asked. "I don't usually see you with your brother when she's around."
"That doesn't mean anything," I said quickly. "Danny, Tucker and Sam aren't exactly… friends with Valerie."
"Sure it doesn't," Dash said with a smirk. "You two better have fun on your date."
"It's not a real date!" I snapped.
"Hey, let us know how it goes later, okay?" Katrina said with a smile.
For a new girl, Katrina sure got comfortable enough to tease me pretty fast. I wonder if she's just that sociable or if having Dash here was boosting her confidence.
I sighed, not wanting to continue the conversation anymore "I should get going now, don't want to get home too late, otherwise my parents might search the city."
"Alright, have fun," Dash said. "And make sure to not go too fast, a lot of women don't like guys who go too fast and never kiss on the first date unless they want to kiss you."
"Dash! I'm not looking for a girlfriend!" I snapped before sighing. "Oh whatever."
I quickly walked away before Dash and Katrina could say anything else.
"Good luck on your first date!" Dash called out.
Let it go Andy, just let it go, ignore him.
"Have fun!" Katrina said with a smile. "Even if it isn't a date, you're hanging out with a friend, so make sure you have fun!"
I stopped for a minute and turned to Katrina, who was smiling. "... Thanks."
When I finally got home, I saw Tucker was already there.
"Hey Tucker, did you get the camera in my clothes?" I asked. "Where are Danny and Sam?"
"They're getting ready, and yes, I got the cameras and microphones ready like I told you I would," Tucker said. "I'd never break a promise when it comes to technology."
I chuckled, "Well you are our tech guy for a reason. Um… so, are you okay with the whole… being left at home while we investigate this love epidemic?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, someone has to be there to coordinate between the two teams," Tucker said with a smile. "Oh and just so you know, Danny and Sam said they would probably leave an hour early that way they can already be there when you and Valerie arrive."
An hour early, huh?
"What are they going to do for an hour?" I asked. "Investigate ahead of us?"
"They said probably an hour, they also said it could possibly be a half hour, and they'll probably make sure they're in a spot where they can keep an eye on you while staying out of Valerie's line of sight," Tucker said. "Now, as for you, just put the clothes on and do what you were planning on doing."
"Alright, thanks Tucker," I said. "It's nice to know I have friends to back me up in case something goes wrong."
"Oh and whatever you do, don't drink any water," Tucker warned.
"What? Why not?" I asked.
"Cause if you do, your outfit will explode," Tucker said before he cracked a smile. "Just kidding. You're absolutely safe and won't have to worry about the outfit at all."
I blinked at him before raising an eyebrow, "Oh, is that all? I thought you were going to tell me I would end up having to go to the bathroom a lot if I drink anything."
"Oh well you don't have to worry about that, if I see you heading to the bathroom I'll turn off the cameras and microphones. I'll actually probably set it up where the cameras will automatically do that. Also… why were you so casual about the whole exploding joke?" Tucker asked, frowning a bit.
"Considering what I've been through? Explosions have become the least of my worries," I answered. "Although it would be nice if my outfit doesn't do that, thank you."
Tucker pouted, "Aww, you're no fun."
"Hey, I wouldn't be me if I wasn't such a teenage killjoy," I chuckled.
"I guess you got a point there. Anyways I'm probably gonna head back home and get the cameras and microphones all set up on my computer and set up that automated sequence where it'll automatically turn off and turn back on when you go to the bathroom," Tucker said. "Oh wait, before I go, should we come up with a code word?"
"A code word for what exactly?" I asked.
"In case you need help or need Danny and Sam to come over and help you out," Tucker explained.
"Well, a code word would be useful," I said in agreement. "What would be a good code word?"
"It needs to be something not obvious, and it doesn't even have to be a word or phrase, you could do anything from a series of coughs to a fake stutter," Tucker said. "Maybe we should make it a phrase though. Something that might fit normally. Maybe… 'is it just me or is it getting hot in here?' or 'are you feeling warm? Cause I'm feeling pretty warm.' just as options. That way it wouldn't seem out of place in a conversation."
"I'll probably go for the first one," I said. "Be sure to tell Danny and Sam."
"They don't need to know, you won't be in direct communication with them, I'll be the one hearing you and I'll be reporting to them," Tucker explained. "Anyways, I need to head home now and do my final setups and make sure everything is ready."
"Okay, I'll leave it to you Tuck," I said. "I need to get ready for my… ahem… date."
"Good luck on your date~" Tucker said in a teasing tone before he headed for the door. "And yes, I know it isn't actually a date, but you're still calling it a date."
"Hey, I already have Dash and his girlfriend teasing me about it, I don't need another," I growled before Tucker left while smiling.
I looked at my blue button up shirt, and my black dress pants. I don't normally wear these, only on a special occasion. I suppose going on a date counts as a special occasion, even if it's not a real date. I wonder what Valerie's going to wear? I headed into my bathroom and looked in the mirror, I picked up my comb and began coming my black hair. Danny and I always had the same hairstyle since we were babies, even combing it doesn't seem to change it, but at least I could smooth it out a little bit.
I gave a small smile in the mirror as I thought to myself. I hoped Val and I would make a convincing couple, that way we could find out what the heck was going on at the Nasty Burger and why so many people were pairing up. Was this related to that vision I had with Danny, and if so, what was it about? Whatever it was, we'd solve it together.
Seruis: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': As it was a April Fools chapter we decided to go with all out fun. Sorry that you didn't quite understand it and found it confusing. As for what Andy was thinking? Probably not much as his brain probably checked out.
ZAFTPrime: DarkFoxKit: How was it confusing exactly? The premise was simple, Andy sees a fanfiction site that shows all of the Danny Phantom fanfiction from our world and he reads some of it. I'm sorry if you didn't understand what was going on. And yes, it was an April Fools prank, but it was also supposed to be entertaining.
Jewel moonstone: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Glad you found it hilarious. It was extremely fun and entertaining to write. We might do this again if the fans want it enough.
GhostWriterGirl-1: DarkFoxKit: Well, I'm glad you didn't find it so confusing. Yeah, this chapter was meant to be a joke and entertaining. I've always wanted to write about characters reacting to their own fandom. We probably won't write this kind of chapter again since nobody seems to be asking for it, but it was fun while it lasted. Those fanfiction examples are actually made up, if they were actual examples it would've been boring. But there are stories like that I've seen in the DP fanfic community.
Luna Lillyth: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': While writing the chapter, we wanted it both to be over the top and hilarious but also realistic and sensible. Hence why Andy and Juliette reacted how they did.
FireSoulKid: DarkFoxKit: I don't think I'm near Pearl's level, but it's very flattering you think so. I do have Onyx here helping me out to make the story better and add in details I usually wouldn't have thought of adding. Heh, well Andy and Valerie are certainly good friends, but I don't know if they would be together… or do I? ;)
This was just a joke chapter for April Fools and it was something we did for fun. Andy may make a few references to the stories he's read in the plot, so keep an eye out for that.
Mana: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': No problem at all. I definitely want to make sure to clear up Juliette's history as it is definitely important to not make any mistakes. Glad you found the April Fools chapter to be comical, it was a blast to write. Yeah, Cartoon Network needs to stop pumping out garbage. I did hear that Teen Titans, the original series, might be coming back for Season 6. I hope they both get some of the old cast as well as make it as great as the original seasons were.
Andy: With Fox and Onyx, anything is possible Mana… *Sighs* Fox and Onyx, mainly Fox, is always seeing ideas in other fanfictions and using those ideas to come up with her own.
DarkFoxKit: Well if it works, I would like to use it. It definitely adds to the lore and/or characters.
Joltik12: DarkFoxKit: Yeah, we thought that would be hilarious and fun to do. It was fun to write those mini-stories and have Andy and Juliette react to them. Although it was a joke chapter, Andy may make a few references to the fanfiction he's read, so keep an eye out for that.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Well to be completely blunt, we aren't going to have Andy's temporal powers develop all that fast. There are some other powers we would like to train first before we get into his temporal powers. Andy himself probably doesn't even want to use his time powers as it could alter reality itself if he wasn't careful.
DarkFoxKit: And as of now, Andy only knows that he sometimes gets glimpses of the future, or branches of the future, so it's not like there's much he can go with it right now.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': When the moment feels right, we'll expand his time powers a little more, but definitely not leaps and bounds. We want to avoid Andy from becoming OP otherwise it makes all the enemies seem weak and all the fights seem pointless and that ruins a good story.
mysteryfan4ever: DarkFoxKit: I can't do a crossover with a fandom I'm not familiar with. And if I'm not a fan, I don't have the interest or motivation to do the research on it. I know a little bit about Mr. Freeze from some reviews I've seen, and yeah, he definitely would be a sympathetic guy Andy would talk to and possibly be friends with, but otherwise I wouldn't know how to write for that crossover.
