He stumbled into the lair, very nearly collapsing under the weight of what had just unfolded before his eyes on the roof of the Opera-how all of his plans, his very dreams had come crashing down the moment that insufferable pup had pressed his flaccid lips to her perfect ones.
Well, if he could not have his diva, then her understudy would have to suffice...for now.
Releasing a long, shuddering sniff, he stalked to the mirror and wrenched her free, not allowing her time to protest as his long, sinewy arms crushed her to his chest, raining kisses all over her face, ignoring her vacant eyes, choosing to believe that she loved him so and would thaw his frozen heart to one day beat again.
