DarkFoxKit: You excited? Today's the day of the wedding, and if all goes well, our last day here.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Oh, it's definitely our last day here.
DarkFoxKit: Do you have a plan to sneak out of here before we get too involved with the main characters?
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': We're either going to wait for one of the main characters to cause a scene or we'll have to create one.
DarkFoxKit: Well, if I remember the episode correctly, Sam is going to cause a bit of chaos. That could be the perfect opportunity for us to sneak out.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': That sounds perfect. Now we just need to break down the rest of our equipment here so we're not leaving anything behind.
DarkFoxKit: Great, maybe now you can get me out of this ridiculous dress you stuffed me into in the last AN!
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': You have something else you want to wear to the wedding? Because you can't go in just your fur.
DarkFoxKit: Can't you just give me regular servant clothes? I would look less like a doll that way.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': You aren't a servant, Fox. You'll be going as a guest, so you have to look nice. I want you to be sitting at the table with me to reduce the chance you are dragged off by one of the servants to help.
DarkFoxKit: Then put me in a not-so-fancy dress.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Go ahead and pick one out and I'll put you into it.
Dora: *Comes into the room* I hate to interrupt, but it's time. You two better get to the banquet. The others will be arriving soon.
DarkFoxKit: *Whines* Right now? Can I at least change quickly?
Dora: I'm afraid not, Kit. Aragon is expecting both of you to be there early.
DarkFoxKit: *Pouts*
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Guess you're stuck in that dress, Fox.
DarkFoxKit: I'll find a way to get you back for this later. *growls*
Chapter 70: Crashing a Dragon's Wedding
Danny didn't come back until a little later, likely just before the sporting event ended. Danny told me he was relieved that Sam was okay, though she wasn't too happy that she was being forced to wear a pink princess dress. Danny also mentioned that Dora plans to give her a complete makeover just before the wedding.
The sporting event itself was interesting to watch, but I didn't pay too much attention to it. I was mostly lost in my own head after a while. I was never a big sporting fan. I did pay attention to a few of the events, noting that there were some weapons used that I had never seen before.
The rest of the day was uneventful. Danny and I switched back to our original roles when he got back. However, one thing did have me concerned.
I laid in the bed I was supposed to be sleeping on, thinking about the conversation that took place in Juliette's room a few minutes prior, before we all turned in for the 'night'.
"You've fought with a dragon before. Is there anything we need to really watch out for?" I had asked Danny.
"Fire breath, razor sharp teeth, claws, a tail that is essentially another appendage, and of course pointy horns that could easily impale someone," Danny listed out.
"Nothing too dangerous then!" Scarlet chuckled.
"Are you worried about something, Andy?" Tucker asked.
"Just a little nervous about having to fight with a ghost dragon," I admitted. "They are supposedly known as one of the strongest types of ghosts in the Ghost Zone."
"We've fought with tougher baddies before, bro," Danny assured. "And in those cases, it was sometimes just us two or even only one of us. We've got nothing to worry about now. We have us two, Tucker, Sam, and Dora. And if you have somehow forgotten, Dora is also a ghost dragon."
"Not to mention you also have me," Scarlet reminded.
"I think Danny wasn't counting you because you will most likely do everything in your power throughout the battle to ensure that I stay safe," Juliette reasoned.
I suppose that Danny does have a point, we have faced much stronger enemies in the past. The strongest and scariest being… I stopped that train of thought, not wanting to go back down into that spiral. I gave a small smile. "Right, we should be fine then."
I sighed to myself as I laid my head down on my pillow and closed my eyes. Tomorrow was going to be quite a day for all of us. Within minutes, I was out like a light.
Before I knew it, it was morning, or what was considered morning here. Nobody said much as we all prepared ourselves for attending the wedding. I was a bit too nervous to have gotten a decent amount of sleep, it wasn't because I didn't think we couldn't handle the dragon prince, but more because of what could go wrong.
"I have the gear stored somewhere safe and nearby," Scarlet informed as we all were going over the day's plan. "In case we need to move into action, it will only take a minute or two to be in fighting condition."
"So I'll be able to access that sweet crossbow?" Tucker asked, eager to try out the crossbow.
"Yes, I made sure that all the weapons were there," Scarlet confirmed.
"Scarlet would never intentionally leave out anyone's weapons," Juliette remarked with a smile. "She is much too kind and honest to do that."
"That's just Tucker being excited," Danny chuckled.
"I never thought I'd get to use a real crossbow, cut me some slack," Tucker pouted.
"Well, we better get going," I stated. "The sooner we get there, the better."
"Yeah, I doubt Sam will ever really marry Aragon now." Danny smiled.
Tucker smirked at that. "Sam would never marry Aragon, Danny, she already has someone else to marry."
"What?" Danny frowned. "Who?"
"I'll give you a hint, it's someone you know~" Tucker chuckled.
Danny furrowed his eyebrows. I rolled my eyes as I watched Danny try to figure out who Tucker was talking about.
"Don't hurt yourself," I said.
"I believe Tucker is talking about you, Danny," Juliette stated. "After all, don't you and Sam really like each other?"
Tucker and I couldn't help but laugh when Danny started to blush, most likely from embarrassment and shame for not figuring out sooner what Tucker was implying.
"T-that isn't relevant, Tucker!" Danny snapped, still blushing.
"Uh huh…" Tucker nodded. "I'm sure the squire hasn't already imagined himself saving the fair princess and in exchange for her rescue, the princess gives the squire a kiss."
Danny's face resembled a tomato at that moment. I was trying not to laugh, but it was difficult.
"That isn't-! You don't know-! Ugh! You better sleep with your eyes open, Tucker," Danny hissed.
"Err… H-hey, relax, it was just a joke to lighten things up," Tucker raised his hands, giving a sheepish smile.
"If you three are done, we should get going," Scarlet remarked, though she had a smile of amusement on her face.
"It's time we get to the banquet," Juliette agreed. "Hopefully we won't be late. It would be incredibly rude of us if we made Prince Aragon wait on his wedding day~"
I noticed the smile on Juliette's face as well as the emphasis on 'won't' and 'incredibly rude'. I wonder if Juliette planned to be a little late to breakfast in order to try and help get Aragon to lose his temper?
When we made it to the dining room, we saw that Aragon was already there, along with the other guests, waiting. Some of them looked irritated at us. I vaguely noticed the odd black dragoness and the small fox beside her, though they looked more amused than anything.
"I see our last guest finally decided to arrive," Aragon said, looking a little grumpy.
"I apologize for my late arrival, Prince Aragon," Juliette said as she took her seat. "I accidentally tore the dress that I was going to be wearing to the banquet on the way here and had to go back to my room to put on an outfit that didn't have a rip in it. After all, it would be very unladylike of me if I walked around in a torn dress."
"Well, you're here now, so we can finally begin," Aragon stated. "Bring forth the meals now."
I looked up a little as I stood slightly behind Juliette's chair and beside Tucker. I could see servants coming in, carrying trays of food. I was a little surprised to see they had a whole pig, it made me briefly wonder if the Ghost Zone had livestock somehow, or if they took the animal from our world. The servants put down the food onto the table in an orderly fashion.
"Everyone, please dig in," Aragon instructed. "While you enjoy your meals, the servants will bring in the entertainment."
Everyone started to dig in. Tucker and I, of course, only watched and waited until Juliette needed something from us. Danny and Scarlet stood back with the other knights.
The doors opened, and suddenly clowns started to come running in while juggling balls, other juggling knives or flaming torches. Someone came walking in on their hands with their legs tucked behind their head. There were a couple of people that walked in with torches and took in a deep breath before letting it out in a blast of fire that seemed to shift from green to red to blue before dissipating.
Aragon frowned and looked at one of his servants, beckoning them over and whispering something to them. The servant whispered back, looking confused and shocked, and after a few minutes of back and forth, scurried away.
"This is quite the entertainment," The black dragoness, that I had seen the other day, chuckled. "You definitely didn't spare any expenses with this group, did you, Prince Aragon?"
I noticed Aragon gave a slight hiss and annoyed look at the black dragoness, before regaining his composure.
"This won't last long, however, we can't have the guests be too distracted by the entertainment," Aragon said, trying to remain calm.
I looked at the clowns doing tricks, like holding a ring of ghostly green fire, before letting it go and acting like their hands were burning. I would've laughed, but I found myself having mixed feelings.
The black dragoness gave a questioning look. "Isn't the point of entertainment to enjoy oneself by watching the skills and talents that others have?"
The fox beside her snorted a little.
"Why yes, of course. Perhaps you'd like to be a part of the entertainment then?" Aragon remarked, starting to get testy.
"If I had any skills worthy of performing in front of others, I would take you up on that offer," The black dragoness replied. "But sadly I would simply make a fool of myself."
Some of the clowns then began smacking each other with pies, some of the cream of the pie got on Aragon. Aragon growled as he glared at the clowns, the clowns themselves all made gasping faces before scattering around the room.
"Enough of this!" Aragon snapped before quickly calming himself, wiping the cream off of him with a cloth napkin. "While I thought entertainment would be a good idea, I think the conversation would be much better. Guards, please make sure the entertainment is paid for their services and escorted out of the castle at once."
The guards began to round up the entertainment, mostly the clowns, before escorting them out of the room.
"I apologize for that sudden show. I wanted the entertainment to be a little more tame," Aragon stated to the guests.
"You don't need to apologize, Prince Aragon." One guest assured.
"Most likely the entertainers misheard you and sent the wrong group." Another commented. "I'm sure what you had in mind was much more fitting for a wedding."
Juliette raised one of her hands slightly to motion Tucker and I over while the other guests, minus the fox and the black dragoness, were agreeing with the other guests and Aragon. Tucker and I approached Juliette.
"What is it that you want, Princess Juliette?" Tucker asked.
"Is there anything I could do for you, my Princess?" I added.
"You're going to want to watch this~" Juliette quietly said with a smile on her face. "Princess Dora suggested this would work very well."
Tucker and I both gave a nod. I smiled a little, wanting to see what Juliette had in store for the poor dragon prince.
Juliette cleared her throat before she spoke up.
"Prince Aragon, I know this may seem a bit out of place, but I haven't been able to find out the information on my own," Juliette spoke up. "What happened to the former Queen and King of this kingdom? I have seen some paintings of them here and there, but not as many as I was hoping to see. I am sorry for the abruptness of the question, as it had just reappeared in my mind."
Aragon glared at Juliette, and I could see his amulet glowing a little.
"Do not bring up the former King and Queen, it is a sensitive subject," Aragon answered, though I could hear some anger in his tone.
"I am so sorry, Prince Aragon!" Juliette apologized. "I did not know that it was a sensitive subject for you. It must pain you that your parents aren't here for your wedding. I am sure they would've loved to attend."
"Yes," Aragon gritted his teeth that were starting to look sharper, making me feel a little uneasy. "I'm sure they would have."
One of the guests gave a small cough. "Perhaps we should… move to a different topic."
"Of course," Juliette agreed. "I would not wish to sully the mood on what should be a joyous day for Prince Aragon and his betrothed."
"Speaking of betrothed," The black dragoness spoke up. "Why isn't she here? Enjoying the banquet with us? This is her wedding banquet as well."
"I agree," Aragon spoke up. "Cynthia! Bring forth my bride. It's about time I showed her to our guests."
"Yes, Crown Prince Aragon." Cynthia bowed before she walked out of the room quickly.
The guests started to talk among themselves.
"Are the rumors true? Is the bride actually human?"
"I guess we'll find out soon."
"I'm so excited, I can't wait to see the future queen!"
A part of me was curious as to what Danny was thinking at this moment. I then started to wonder if Sam would make a dramatic entrance to start Dora's plan on riling up Aragon.
Everyone started to quiet down when a male ghost in quite fine clothing appeared at the top of a grand staircase holding a long trumpet. The ghost lifted the trumpet and blew into it for a few moments to get everyone's attention. After everyone's eyes were on the male ghost, the ghost lowered the trumpet and spoke clearly and loudly.
"It is my honor to introduce the bride of Crown Prince Aragon, the human, Samantha!" The male ghost announced before the set of double doors at the top of the stairs swung open.
After a few seconds, a figure walking in wearing an elegant red, gold, and white dress walked in. They were wearing a mask over their face, but I could tell it was Sam from the name and the hair color, which barely peaked through the wedding veil she was wearing. I also saw that Sam was still wearing the crown that had been placed on her at the end of the beauty pageant.
I looked at Aragon as he gave a pleasant smile at seeing Sam.
"Come over here, my future queen, and take your throne next to me," Aragon commanded.
One of the knights brought over a smaller throne and put it next to Aragon's. Sam walked down the stairs and sat down in the throne that was set beside Aragon.
The guests all looked at Sam, many of them were fascinated, while others were a little frustrated they couldn't see her face.
"As you know, a groom should not see the face of the bride until the wedding ceremony," Aragon reminded with a smirk. "I am glad my betrothed agreed to uphold that tradition."
"She looks lovely," One of the guests complimented. "Her dress is absolutely gorgeous."
"I can't sense any ghost aura from her, so she must be human," Another guest commented, sounding fascinated.
Aragon's smirk grew as he put a hand on Sam's shoulder. "Yes, she is quite the unique bride in this world."
Even though I couldn't see or hear it, I felt Danny hissing and simmering. I tried not to cringe from the hostility I was sensing from my twin.
"That is correct, Prince Aragon," Sam agreed. "I am very unique~"
Aragon looked at Sam for a few seconds when she spoke up, before he gave a nervous chuckle. "Yes, I'm glad you agree with me, my future queen."
"After all, I'm most likely the only human bride in the entire Ghost Zone," Sam continued. "Hopefully my future husband will be able to put up with all my unique human quirks~"
As Sam finished her sentence, she stood up, grabbed onto the mask and the dress she was wearing, and ripped both off before anyone could react. Below the mask and the dress she wore was a gothic black dress with a metallic belt. She had somehow been wearing armor and a gauntlet on her left arm under the previous dress. She had black makeup on her face, and as we were watching, Sam reached up and tied her hair into two pigtails.
"You see, humans have a wide variety of personalities, traits, quirks, and hobbies!" Sam raised her voice as she threw the mask and scraps of cloth to the ground.
Everyone at the table gasped in shock and horror, except for a few, who just looked surprised and amused. I, myself, was watching in amusement, knowing that this trainwreck was bound to happen sooner or later.
"You see, I personally am a goth," Sam stated proudly. "I like wearing black, I like acting out, and I like going against whatever form of system there is!"
Sam jumped up on the table and grabbed a large turkey drumstick, then she threw it at someone's face.
"Meat! Disgusting!" Sam blanched before she grabbed a big slice of watermelon and took a bite out of it.
"In fact, I'm like my future husband! I act out and do things that I know mommy and daddy wouldn't like!" Sam smirked, looking back at Aragon. "Though, my future husband took it a step farther than I ever thought of doing. He actually made his parents disappear!"
The people at the tables all began to talk, not sure how to react to Sam's behavior, and what she just said.
"Why don't you go ahead and own up to it, Aragon sweetie?~" Sam smirked. "Admit to these fine people that you were the one who made your parents disappear. That you hated that they were so kind hearted yet they wouldn't just hand over the throne to you."
Dora came walking in, likely to witness what would happen.
When Aragon finally got over the initial shock, however, he growled angrily before he turned to Dora. "Dorathea! Control this girl!"
"Brother, I have been wanting to say this to you for the longest time…" Dora softly replied before she took a breath. "NO! I am your sister, not your servant! I am not someone that you can order around! I know that you made mother and father disappear, and the only reason I have stuck around with you since then is because I wanted to find where you made them go and get my revenge! You are a despicable excuse for a brother, an awful ruler, and simply a downright horrendous being!"
Dora then approached Sam. "In fact, this human girl doesn't deserve someone like you being her husband!"
Dora took the tiara on Sam's head and removed it.
Aragon stared at Dora, he was completely speechless.
"I've always wanted to do this~" Sam spoke up before she jumped and grabbed onto the chandelier before she began swinging on it.
I could hear Tucker and Danny laughing, while some of the other servants began cheering for Sam and Dora.
I turned around and noticed that Scarlet had disappeared at some point, most likely to go grab the weapons from wherever she had stored them.
Danny approached us, due to the chaos, nobody cared that the squire decided to stand closer to the princess and her servants. Out of curiosity, I looked around for the black dragoness and the fox, but strangely, they were nowhere to be seen.
Did they leave? I mentally questioned.
"ENOUGH!" Aragon shouted. "Guards, to the dungeon with that girl and my so-called sister!"
"Oh? I thought she was supposed to be your future queen, brother," Dora spoke up.
Aragon's amulet started to glow brightly as he turned his murderous glare at Dora. "You do not think, ever! You're to do what you're told!"
"Listen to my words, brother… NO!" Dora responded.
Aragon's tongue suddenly stuck out, showing it to be a long, forked tongue. His teeth grew sharper and larger, and he began to grow bigger. Aragon's neck grew out, his clothes began to be torn apart. He turned black, and his underbelly turned purple, he grew out a pair of black leathery wings, he grew out neon green claws, he grew out a pair of green horns, and he grew out a tail with spikes on the tip. Dragon Aragon was as big as the entire dining room, he let out a furious roar.
All the guests began scrambling away in a panic, trying to escape this angry dragon before he killed them. Only Juliette, Danny, Tucker, and I stayed where we were.
"If you want to challenge me for the throne, Dorathea, then we shall do so!" Aragon growled.
"Oh, my dear brother, you are as intelligent as you are calm," Dora remarked, shaking her head. "I have no plans to challenge you for a throne which does not even belong to you. You sent mother and father away, made them disappear, all because they were going to make me the heir to the throne, not you."
"Then perhaps you'd like to join our parents!" Aragon roared as he was about to blast Dora with a fireball.
Suddenly, one of the hanging chandeliers came loose from the ceiling and dropped down, smashing Aragon on the back of the neck, throwing off his aim.
"You think you are the only one with allies, brother?" Dora inquired as Aragon started writhing around a little, trying to free himself from the chandelier. "If you did think that, then I must disappoint you."
A large arrow slammed into Aragon's side, making him roar out in pain. I looked up to see Scarlet floating there before she landed near us.
"Here are your weapons," Scarlet said softly as she placed down a pile of weapons on the table in front of Juliette. "Princess Juliette, please move to somewhere safe."
"It might be safer for me to stay here," Juliette replied. "I have a feeling that parts of this castle won't be around in the next hour or so."
Tucker grabbed the crossbow, Danny picked up a sword, and I took the pistol. We then scattered in the room, before Danny and I turned into our ghost forms. Aragon managed to break free from the chandelier, and looked at us in shock and anger.
"The halfas? Ha! You think they can hurt me?!" Aragon growled.
"We can certainly try," Danny remarked before he fired a ghost ray at Aragon's face.
Aragon retaliated by blasting a blue fireball at the ghost ray, cancelling it out, however Danny got up close to him before swinging his sword, cutting Aragon's cheek. I realized that Scarlet likely gave Danny some sword training even though he wasn't actually her squire.
I focused my energy onto my pistol before I fired it. Pistols weren't known for being powerful guns, however this one shot out a piercing ghost ray instead of a bullet, and it easily grazed Aragon's arm. Tucker fired his crossbow arrows at Aragon, causing more damage.
Frustrated, Aragon fired out his flames in the room, engulfing it in flames. Scarlet grabbed Juliette and flew her out of the castle. Danny grabbed Sam, while I took Tucker, and all of us flew out of the castle. Aragon let out a loud roar before he tore out of the ceiling of his own castle to give chase. Looking back, I noticed that the ceiling of the dining room and a few nearby rooms had collapsed in while Aragon was making his exit.
I hope the other guests and servants made it out okay. I frowned to myself in concern.
Aragon went after Danny, most likely because he had Sam. I followed after Aragon while still carrying Tucker.
"Don't worry, man, I got this!" Tucker shouted as he aimed his crossbow at the flying dragon prince.
I used my telekinesis to make the pistol float next to me so I could take aim as well. I needed to keep two hands on Tucker so he wouldn't fall.
Tucker fired his crossbow, managing to hit Aragon's back. Aragon growled in irritation. Tucker fired his crossbow again, however this time Aragon was ready for it, he swung his tail, easily deflecting the arrow away, causing it to fall into the green lake below. I fired my pistol, Aragon's tail couldn't easily deflect the piercing plasma ray, instead it left a bit of a mark on his tail, causing him to cry out in pain.
Fed up with our attacks, Aragon stopped chasing Danny and Sam, he turned to face Tucker and me.
"This… doesn't look good…" Tucker gulped.
I yelped and quickly flew in the opposite direction while the big, angry dragon came after us.
"Shoot back and fire your pistol, Andy!" Tucker shouted as I continued flying away. "I can't easily shoot the crossbow without aiming."
"I'll… try…" I was trying to fly faster because Aragon was catching up, however, it was difficult to use telekinesis and fly fast with this cursed watch on me.
I managed to turn my pistol around, though I couldn't aim that well since I couldn't look back. I had my pistol fire another piercing ghost ray at Aragon. I couldn't see where the ghost ray hit, but I knew it hit somewhere painful for Aragon from how he was screaming in agony.
I felt sudden heat behind me, and turned my head. I gasped when I saw a huge blue fireball coming right at us. I dove down quickly in order to dodge it. I let out a hiss as the tip of my ghostly tail was grazed by the flame. I heard Danny's voice calling out in concern.
"Look out!"
I gasped as a black tail suddenly swung in front of me. I didn't have time to dodge or go intangible, so I ended up getting smacked by the tail. Tucker and I were sent spinning out of control in the air, and to my horror, I realized I had accidentally let go of Tucker. I quickly managed to stop myself in midair, and frantically looked around for Tucker.
"Tucker!" I called out worriedly.
I heard a splash, and looked down at the green lake. Tucker quickly popped up to the surface before he managed to float above the water.
"I'm a little wet, but I'm okay!" Tucker called back.
Oh yeah, humans can float in the Ghost Zone. I remembered when I saw Tucker floating.
"Andy! Watch yourself!" Scarlet shouted.
I didn't bother to turn around, instead I quickly created a barrier around myself just before Aragon's claws swooped in. The claws screeched against my barrier, making me cover me ears. I was glad I managed to put up the barrier before Aragon was able to dig those claws into me.
"Leave my brother alone!" I heard Danny yelling.
I looked up to see Danny fired his ghost ray at Aragon, causing the dragon to fall back a few feet. I let down my barrier as Danny flew over to me.
"Are you okay?" Danny asked in concern.
"I'm fine," I answered before both of us turned our attention to Aragon, who was flying towards us again.
I noticed that Danny wasn't holding Sam anymore, so he likely found somewhere safe to put her down for the time being. Danny still held on to the sword, however, and I noticed the sword was glowing green. Danny was likely channeling his own energy into the sword.
Aragon stopped charging at us, and glared. I noticed that his left eye was shut.
"Halfas…" Aragon hissed. "I can't believe I lost my eye to pathetic beings like halfas!"
It was then I realized that I must've shot Aragon's eye out earlier, I confirmed that when I saw some green blood coming from Aragon's shut eye.
"And now I'll make you pay!" Aragon angrily roared before he shot out another fireball.
Danny and I flew up, dodging the fireball. I shot out another piercing ghost ray from the pistol, hitting the dragon prince's shoulder. Aragon hissed at me, but didn't notice Danny coming up behind him until he swung his sword, slashing Aragon's back. Aragon swiped his claws at Danny, Danny went intangible to dodge it, however he didn't see the other claw until he was smacked away.
I yelped when Aragon raised another claw at me and pinned me down into the ground. I dropped the pistol as my telekinesis was broken.
"What a pathetic little creature," Aragon growled. "I shall only get slight amusement out of crushing you. That amusement will come from the fact that I've killed another potential ghost dragon that could have eventually challenged me."
"I hate to break it to you, but despite what that amulet may have said, I'm not a 'potential ghost dragon', and also…" I turned myself intangible, phasing into the ground.
"How cute, the little welp knows some tricks…" Aragon grumbled before he, I can only assume, punched the ground with a curled up claw, cracking it.
I flew up from under the ground, facing Aragon. Aragon blasted out a stream of ghost fire at me. I wasn't able to fly away fast enough, and only put up a shield in front of me. The fire was burning, and I was being pushed back. I managed to form the Plasma Rod and threw it at Aragon's face. The Plasma Rod hit Aragon's forehead, making him shut his mouth, and grit his teeth. I quickly flew away from Aragon, meeting back up with Danny.
"I'm glad you managed to get out of that one," Danny said in relief. "But if we don't take out Aragon soon, he's going to set the entire kingdom on fire."
"I know…" I frowned when I saw the forests were burning from Aragon's flames, I could also see some of the buildings were on fire, and the innocent ghosts were desperately trying to find a safe haven.
"I might be able to knock him out with my Ghostly Wail, but if I did that, then I would end up hurting more innocent ghosts," Danny noted in concern.
"What's Scarlet doing?" I asked.
"She said she'll be keeping Juliette, Sam, and Tucker safe," Danny answered.
I nodded. Scarlet must know that if she did fought as well she could end up causing more damage. From what I could tell, her fighting style often used several spears at once to overwhelm the opponent.
Our attentions were snapped back to Aragon when he roared again, and he flew towards us. Aragon started to swipe his claws at us. Danny and I managed to dodge his claws before we both fired ghost rays at Aragon. Aragon used his tail to deflect our ghost rays. Because I left the pistol behind, I couldn't use it to fire anymore piercing ghost rays. Aragon snapped his teeth at me, but I managed to get out of range from his maw. Aragon swung his tail and managed to hit me. I grunted as I flew back a few feet from that hit.
I shook my head, trying to get rid of the disorientation. I blinked open my eyes and saw Danny managed to get a few good slashes in with his sword, however, Danny was too close to Aragon when Aragon shot out a blue fireball at him. My eyes widened as I heard Danny screaming out in agony. I flew faster than I felt I had flown before and tackled my brother away from the fireball before it could engulf him. Unfortunately, this meant I was the one who ended up engulfed in the flames instead. I cried out in pain as I was being burned by the fire, but despite this scorching pain, one thing went through my head.
At least it's not as painful as those fox skulls.
When the flames ended, I didn't have time to recover, because I felt a sharp pain slashing my arm. I screamed out in pain as my mind flashed to a familiar, sadistic face before I fell to the ground, causing a small crater.
"What a fool," I heard Aragon scoffed. "Sacrificing himself just to save the other one."
I heard Danny's voice crying out in anger, and what sounded like ghost rays being fired, but I couldn't see what was going on. I was still conscious, but I felt my core weakening. The cursed watch around my neck didn't make things any easier. I pushed myself up to my hands and knees, struggling to remain in my ghost form.
"Andy," I heard Dora's voice say gently.
I managed to look up, seeing Dora kneeling down to me in concern.
"This will feel strange," Dora warned before she took in a deep breath and let out a sparkly light green mist.
The mist covered my entire body quickly and started to sting and tingle in the places where I had been feeling pain.
"That should be enough to get you up on your feet," Dora stated. "I can help you get over to everyone else, as you're in no condition to keep fighting like you are."
I realized that Dora managed to heal some of my wounds, but I was still too weak to fly or use most of my powers. I managed to get up onto my feet and looked up to see Danny struggling to fight Aragon. Aragon's fires were deadly to Danny, because Danny was vulnerable to fire, a lot more than I was.
I looked back to Dora. "Dora… I know you don't want to fight your brother, but… I can't let Danny fight Aragon alone. Would you be willing to turn yourself into a dragon and let me ride you into battle?"
"What? Are you sure?" Dora inquired, a bit taken aback.
"You've always said you wanted to stand up to your brother," I remarked. "While you did stand up to him, perhaps it's also time to fight back as well. I won't let my brother fight alone."
"I… cannot directly participate in the battle," Dora replied. "I made a promise to Clockwork that I would not lay a hand or claw on my brother… but…" I saw Dora smiling. "That doesn't mean I can't help others fight by flying them around."
I wondered why Dora promised Clockwork to not lay a hand or claw on Aragon, but I decided it wasn't any of my business. Dora's amulet glowed as she allowed herself to change into her blue and green dragoness form.
While Aragon's dragon form looked dark, powerful, and intimidating, Dora's dragon form looked strong, graceful, and elegant. As soon as Dora was fully transformed into a dragon, she lowered herself to the ground, allowing me to climb up onto her back.
"Hold on tight, I do not want you to fall off," Dora instructed. "And if you are able, perhaps you should retrieve your weapon."
"It fell somewhere near the woods. We'll have to go back for it later," I informed.
Dora nodded before she spread out her blue and white wings and took off into the air, heading towards Danny and Aragon.
"Don't forget this!" Scarlet shouted from somewhere on the ground.
I glanced down and saw that my pistol was rapidly flying toward my face, most likely having been thrown by Scarlet. I held out my hand and caught the pistol before it could hit my face, though when I caught it, my hand stung a little from the force at which the pistol had been thrown.
Note to self; never play catch with Scarlet. I noted.
Aragon managed to grab Danny with his claws, and was about to blast fire at him again, but I reacted quickly and held up my pistol, aiming quickly, before shooting a piercing ghost ray at Aragon. Aragon had the fireball in his throat before the piercing ghost ray shot his neck, making him miss Danny and cry out in pain. Danny looked up before phasing out of Aragon's hold.
"Danny!" Dora yelled. "Take your sword and aim for here!"
Danny glanced over at Dora, who was pointing at the Amulet of Aragon on her neck and then pointing at Aragon.
"That is the fastest way to win," Dora explained quickly.
"Dorathea, you traitor! What do you think you're doing!?" Aragon growled, but he kept a claw over his Amulet of Aragon.
"I'm doing what I think is best," Dora responded with a smirk. "After 1600 years of doing your bidding and suffering your insults, I'm going to break free from you, brother!"
Aragon hissed before he glared at me. "You! You're responsible for my sister's rebellion!"
"No, no they are not, brother," Dora argued. "I have been wanting to do this ever since I found out the truth that you made mother and father disappear. And I even found out why you made them disappear. Up until then I thought you truly were kind, thoughtful, and honest. But the truth is you are nothing but a conniving lizard who is spoiled and wants everything his way!"
Aragon let out an angry roar before he grabbed Dora's mouth to shut her up. I jumped up from Dora's back and summoned my Plasma Rod before I slammed it onto Aragon's arm.
"That's for slashing my arm!" I snapped.
Aragon let go of Dora's mouth and tried to smack me with his claws, but I managed to put up shield before he did so. I ended up falling, though I was quickly caught by Dora's tail. While I was clinging onto Dora's tail, I noticed that Dora shoulder rammed her brother away before reaching down to help me back up onto her back.
"Get in close to him, Dora," I instructed.
I saw Danny going invisible, likely hoping to try to get to Aragon's amulet while Dora and I were confronting him.
Dora flew towards Aragon, who was recovering from Dora's push earlier. Aragon shot a fireball at us, Dora breathed in and shot out her own fireball to cancel Aragon's out. I shot my pistol at Aragon's chest, causing the piercing ghost ray to leave a bit of a hole there. I knew I could aim at Aragon's wings and make it so he wouldn't be able to fly straight anymore, but I didn't want to cause irreversible damage like that, it was an accident that I shot his eye in the first place.
Dora began to fly around her brother, trying to circle around him to make it harder for him to catch her and me. I continued to fire my pistol at Aragon, causing more wounds on him, and to keep him distracted from Danny. I had to make sure not to fire my pistol too fast as I didn't want to completely drain myself of energy. Unfortunately for me, I was already low on energy. After doing a guesstimate, I figured I had 4-5 good shots left in me before the pistol and I would be useless.
Aragon had enough and reached out to grab Dora's tail. Dora let out a hiss as her brother had a tight grip on her tail and pulled her back. When Dora was close enough, Aragon grabbed onto her neck, making it difficult for Dora to move or speak. Aragon then used his other claw to grab onto me. I grunted as I tried to go intangible to phase out, but I had used up most of my energy shooting my pistol.
"I will destroy you, halfa, once and for all. As for you, Dorathea, you'll be the next royal to disappear!" Aragon angrily threatened.
I shut my eyes as I saw Aragon opening his mouth, likely either to burn me to death, or to eat me.
"Hey, Prince Brattington!" Danny shouted from nearby. "You left yourself open!~"
"Wah- no!" I heard Aragon gasping.
I opened my eyes to see Aragon looking down at his neck. There was a distinct lack of a certain amulet. I looked up to see Danny was holding onto the amulet himself, smirking.
"Nicely… done… Danny," Dora muttered as Aragon's claw around her neck began to shrink and shift back to a hand.
Aragon's claw around me also began to turn back into a hand as he started shrinking. Aragon was forced to let both Dora and I go as he shrunk down back into his humanoid form. One thing I didn't get was how Aragon still had his clothes on as if they never tore in the first place during his transformation. Then again, Danny's and my clothes seem to disappear and replaced with our hazmat suits whenever we transform into our ghost forms ourselves.
"You won't need this," Dora said as she reached down and plucked the crown from Aragon's head. "As you are no longer welcome in this domain, Aragon. You are hereby stripped of your title, your family name, and your ability to stay in this kingdom. If you bother me or anyone here ever again, know that the punishment will be severe."
"No! How can this be!? I was supposed to be king! You're supposed to be nothing, you're supposed to be beneath me! You can't do this to me, Dorathea!" Aragon shouted.
"Fine then, why don't we let the kingdom decide who should be the ruler of this domain?" Dora decided. "The very same kingdom you set ablaze and destroyed parts of in your anger."
I looked around and watched as ghosts, that had been hiding, came out and surveyed the damage before looking up at Aragon who was floating in the air with his ghostly powers.
"Tell me, citizens!" Dora spoke up so everyone could hear her. "Do you wish to let Aragon stay and rule this kingdom? Do you truly think someone who has caused so much damage, because things didn't go his way, should be allowed to stay?! Do you desire to continue to live in fear under Aragon's wrathful rule?"
The ghostly people were all unanimous as they all cried out. "NO!"
"I thought Aragon was a nice prince."
"I lost my shop because of him."
"All my servants are too injured to do much of anything now."
"My house is on fire because of him!"
"Frankly, I was sick of having to live under Aragon's rules."
"I no longer wish to live in fear of speaking the truth!"
"You heard them, Aragon." Dora smirked. "You are not welcome here."
Aragon seethed. "This isn't over, Dorathea."
Aragon turned and flew away to exit the domain.
"One last piece of advice, Aragon!" Dora called after Aragon. "You should perhaps go have someone take a look at that eye. You wouldn't want it to get as infected as your heart."
Aragon didn't reply back, he just kept going.
Scarlet carried Sam and Tucker and flew over to us, and Juliette was flying beside them.
Juliette smiled to Dora as she floated next to us.
"Perhaps it is time to get rid of the final mark of your brother," Juliette stated before pointing up at the sky. "It's much too dreary to celebrate."
"Yeah, I mean, what's up with time not ever moving? It'd be boring to stay in the dark ages, even for me," Sam remarked.
"Time is already starting to slowly move forward now that Aragon is gone," Dora informed. "But in order for time to fully be allowed to flow, I must destroy the clouds that he created after the disappearance of our parents."
"How are you going to do that?" I asked.
Dora smiled at me. "Just watch, Andy."
With me still on Dora's back, Dora flew up towards the sky before she took a deep breath and blew out wind instead of fire. The wind blew away the green clouds. I was surprised that there was an actual sun in the Ghost Zone. The sun brighten up the area. Dora then began to fly over the forest, blowing out the fire Aragon had made, and she blew out the fire that was burning in town as well.
I smiled as I watched Dora do her work. Once Dora was finished, she landed in the town. She laid on the ground, letting me slide off her back. When I was off, Dora allowed herself to shrink back down into her humanoid form. Danny flew over and landed beside me.
"Well, congratulations, Dora, you're now the queen of this domain," Danny stated.
"I'm not the queen, simply the crown princess," Dora corrected.
"Heh, okay. Here, I believe you should hang on to this," Danny said as he handed over the Amulet of Aragon to Dora.
Dora gave a nod at that as she took the amulet. "Yes, that would be best. It will take some time for me to figure out what I should do with it."
"Do you think you'll be okay with ruling an entire kingdom as well as working for Clockwork?" I asked in a little bit of concern.
"I'll figure something out," Dora chuckled. "Perhaps I'll have Princess Juliette help me. For now, you should all get back to the living world, I will stay here to clean up the mess that my brother caused."
"I… don't know if I would be able to help much," Juliette spoke up as she and the others landed beside us. "I am, after all, trying to stay away from Clockwork. If I helped you, he would most likely try to track me down here. There is also the possibility that Skulker would discover I'm here and come after me again. The only way I could see myself helping you is simply in an advisory role from my home where I know I am safe and where neither Skulker nor Clockwork can get to me."
"And I promise to keep my princess safe," Scarlet declared.
"It's alright, I understand," Dora said. "Do not worry about me, I'll be fine. I know I'll have those who will support me."
"Great, then we hope you'll get this kingdom caught up to modern times," Sam joked.
"Yeah, this place needs technology!" Tucker agreed.
"Come on, guys, we should get going. Our families must be worried sick by now," Danny chuckled. "The Specter Speeder should still be just outside the entrance."
"Remember, not much time has passed in the real world," Dora reminded.
"You don't know my parents," Sam grumbled.
"We wish you the best of luck, Dora." I smiled to the dragoness princess before turning to follow my friends. "Hey Danny, after we drop everyone off, we should head over to Clockwork's tower. I'm going to need Clockwork's help to remove this cursed watch."
"Oh yeah," Danny blinked as he remembered my cursed watch. "Hopefully Clockwork will be able to remove the stubborn thing."
Reviews
Anime lover 3593: DarkFoxKit: I will say that Danny also has the potential to be marked as a dragon ghost, he just never wore the amulet to be marked himself. Foxfire and core elementals have nothing to do with it, especially since Andy was marked when he was still fully human. Also, the idea of Danny riding on dragon Andy's back also crossed my mind, and I love that image. I think that if Andy did become a dragon, he'd be more of a striker type, kind of like Toothless was in How To Train Your Dragon.
We didn't get too much into details about Andy at the sporting event, we didn't think it was necessary. Of course, after the next episode we did, I sort of wished we switched to Danny's POV to see what he and Sam talked about, but at the time we wrote this chapter, we stuck with Andy's POV. Also, Andy's going to have quite a lot of stress in the future as you will see.
Jewel moonstone: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Uh oh, hope you feel better by now. Too bad your reunion wasn't as good as it could've been. Glad to hear you at least got to meet some good doggos.
Luna Lillyth: DarkFoxKit: Heh, well we didn't expand it as much as we could've, but thank you. Aragon actually was oblivious, if he knew they were the halfas, he would've found a way to dispose of them as soon as possible.
Raidentensho: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Hmmm, that's a pretty interesting idea of the Ecto-armor. The Dragon Mark thing will be brought back up later on. We wanted to introduce it now just so it would be in the universe for when we were ready to use it again.
DarkFoxKit: Those really are interesting ideas actually. Also, I apologize for skipping over Andy being a squire in the story. We didn't really have anything planned for it, and we just wanted to move on with the plot and the episode. Again, things like sporting events or mundane stuff is usually skipped over unless we want to write it out or it serves a purpose to the plot.
haloguardian452: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Oh, we'll make sure to work it in perfectly. We wouldn't want anything to seem abrupt or sudden. We prefer to introduce things in a seamless manner.
DarkFoxKit: Personally I was skeptical about the whole gun thing too at first, but Onyx thinks we could make it work, so I'm hoping it won't seem too out of place,
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': If it looks like guns won't work then we'll scratch that plan, however I do feel we could bring that type of weaponry in for Andy and make it seem fitting.
Mana: DarkFoxKit: You mean Yugioh GX, right? That was my first true exposure to the Yugioh series actually, so I have a lot of respect for it, even though we never got a dubbed version of season 4.
The core elements of a ghost has nothing to do with someone being marked as a potential to being a dragon, Andy was fully human when he was marked after all. Danny also has the potential to being marked as a dragon, but he never wore the amulet himself to be marked in the first place, that was why it was only brought up with Andy. And it will be brought back at a later time in the story.
I kind of wished we thought of showing Danny's POV when we wrote this chapter, this was written a while back just so you know, and we added a lot more dynamic with Danny and Andy, as well as showing Danny's POV instead of just Andy's since then, unfortunately we hadn't done it here, so we didn't get to see how Danny's conversation with Sam went. But basically Danny's just glad that Sam is okay.
Yes, both of us had seen that video of Butch creating the 3 new villain ghosts. I found it quite ironic that he made Plaything since we already made Hope in the story, and I've been playing with the whole Andy has a fear of teddy bears thing since way before then as well. Personally I would rather Butch didn't timeskip or just go up to the college years instead of the ten years later Danny. I just can't see the adult Danny being the same Danny I grew to know and love. It might be all the muscles, I prefer Danny lean myself. As for Funhouse and Swarm, they're both interesting. I think Danny could just easily freeze all the bugs that makes Swarm, but there is some potential bigger threat with Swarm if she knows how to utilize her bugs other than brute force.
If I had the chance to reboot the series… well, you already have your answer by just reading this and My Brother's a Ghost. ^^'
