With a satisfying snick of the lock, Nadir stepped into his flat, laden with packages and parcels full of trinkets and treats from his holiday, only for his cavalier smile to disintegrate at the sight of the trampled note undoubtedly shoved under his door in haste, dread sinking in his heart at the all-too familiar scrawl:
"A regrettable..ah, incident has occurred, admittedly by my own hand and as such, I require your kind assistance once more..."
Boxes and bags hit the floor in unceremonious thuds as the hand holding his key tightened into a fist momentarily before re-locking the door and stepping out into the bitter Parisian winter air, a single thought taking place at the forefront of his mind:
I knew I should have taken that complimentary week in Greece.
