Darkzdragon 'Onyx': *Is grumbling to herself as she was wiggling a claw in the gap between her scales* I can't believe I'm still picking out dried up bits of cheese and sauce from in between my scales…
DarkFoxKit: Hey, cheer up. I finally got your gift finished! Now I know it's pretty late, but… here ya go~ *Pushes a huge gift wrapped box to Onyx* Now open it, the readers are waiting to see what it is. :3
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Gift? Oh! Right, the gift you were getting me for Christmas, something you were putting effort into. *Pulls the box closer and begins to undo the wrapping carefully. After some minutes, she began to open the box. She then reached inside and pulled out a silver chain, at the bottom of which was dangling a teardrop shaped amethyst*
DarkFoxKit: I read that the amethyst is the gemstone of those born in February, so I wanted to get you an amethyst as an early birthday gift and a Christmas gift all wrapped into one. I'll still be getting you a birthday gift though. Or would it be hatchday considering you're a dragon?
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': *Is studying the necklace* I still call it my birthday. And thank you, Fox, this means a lot to me. It's gorgeous.
DarkFoxKit: Hehe, why don't you wear it? I wanna see how it looks on you.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': *Nods and puts the necklace on* Huh, this silver chain is quite strong by the looks of it. I accidentally just tugged a little hard and it didn't snap or even stretch.
DarkFoxKit: Hehehe~
*The amethyst suddenly glowed brightly, coating Onyx's body in purple light. Onyx suddenly shrunk down to Fox's size. Onyx was no longer a dragon, but was a black kitsune, the same size as Fox.*
DarkFoxKit: Now you're an adorable little black kitsune kit~
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': *Stares at Fox* WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!
DarkFoxKit: So you and I can play on a more equal ground~ Now come on, my little kitsune friend, we should let the readers get into the chapter. :3 Oh, and don't worry about Andy, he'll be coming back soon~
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Uh huh… *Narrows her eyes at Fox* Hey… Fox…?
DarkFoxKit: Yeeeees?
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': I'd recommend running.
DarkFoxKit: Why?
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Because I'm going to start chasing you in a few seconds… approximately 5… 4… 3… 2…
DarkFoxKit: *Quickly runs off camera while Onyx was counting down* I REGRET NOTHING!
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': GET BACK HERE FOX! *Starts chasing after Fox, knocking over the camera which stops the recording, though there was a sudden yelp before the recording stopped*
Chapter 83: The Ghost Zone Has Holidays?
I landed in front of the opera house's doors. Not wanting to just fly in and risk surprising Scarlet and Juliette, I walked through the first set of doors before knocking on the inner door. I did briefly wondered if Scarlet and Juliette even slept at all. Do ghosts even need to sleep?
"Andy? What are you doing here?" Scarlet asked when she opened the door. "Isn't it a little late for you to be out and about? Or are you out on patrol right now?"
"I couldn't sleep, and there's something important I need to discuss with you and Juliette," I answered in a serious tone. "It has to do with that black knight we saw back at the colosseum in that Egyptian realm."
"Come on in, I'll go wake Princess Juliette," Scarlet instructed.
I nodded as I walked into the opera house. I waited as Scarlet went to go get Juliette. She didn't have to take the stairs, she just turned herself intangible and flew up towards Juliette's room, making things a lot quicker. Well, I guess ghosts can sleep.
"You said something about the black knight…?" Juliette yawned when she came out of her room followed by Scarlet.
"Yeah… uh, sorry to disturb you," I said, apologizing for waking up Juliette. "I ran into the black knight in the Ghost Zone earlier today, and she said some things that has me concerned."
"You had a conversation with her?" Juliette raised a brow. "Was it something about the conversation that made you put on that cursed item?"
Juliette pointed to the watch I was wearing.
"Kind of, yeah," I admitted. "Though it's not cursed anymore."
I told Juliette and Scarlet about what Vesper said, and that she told me her name, and that she was planning on getting Danny, and possibly either Scarlet or Juliette as her apprentices.
"So she still remembers and uses her name…" Scarlet muttered.
"She won't get to Scarlet or myself," Juliette assured. "However I do worry for Danny as he doesn't tend to stay in a singular location and has a habit of going off on his own from time to time."
"Don't I know it," I sighed. "When he's focused on something, it's hard to get him to listen. There were a few other things Vesper said that both got my interest and also a bit worried. She said that Danny takes risks whether he could fail or not, and pushes himself to his limit, and that's why he's so strong, and why I would never be able to match him. She also said something about us being 'gifted' and having 'limitless potential', though I wasn't sure what she was talking about other than us being halfas. She said that I was squandering mine because I'm too cautious, and I don't take risks like Danny does, nor do I push myself. Is… all of that true…?"
Juliette seemed hesitant at first. "You do take risks from time to time… but not as often as Danny. And you tend to try and think your way out of a situation instead of using simply your powers, like Danny does. However, that's not to say you're doing anything wrong, that's just how you prefer to handle situations."
"Vesper values power, determination, and bravery over strategy and caution," Scarlet explained. "You don't have to judge yourself on her standards, Andy, everyone has their own way of doing things."
"But she is right in saying that I don't push myself enough. Look at what happened when we were transported to that other realm, I lost my ghost powers for a few weeks, while Danny was fighting for his life as well as training to get himself stronger. I've fallen far behind my brother again." I frowned. "And if I don't get stronger soon, there's a chance he could be taken by Vesper, and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it."
"What is it that you are currently thinking, Andy?" Juliette inquired.
"I'm hoping that maybe… Scarlet could train me for a while," I hesitantly requested.
"Are you sure?" Scarlet raised a brow.
I was a little hesitant, but I nodded. "Yes, I am."
"If you're that sure, then we can train," Scarlet responded. "When would you like to start?"
"Is now a good time?" I asked.
Juliette shook her head. "Scarlet and I need to get our sleep as we're going to the Ghost Flower Festival tomorrow… well today."
I blinked. "Okay, first of all… you need sleep? And second, Ghost Flower Festival?"
"Ghosts do need to sleep when they are outside the Ghost Zone," Juliette informed. "And the Ghost Flower Festival is a holiday in the Ghost Zone. It is similar to the Cherry Blossom Festival of Japan that I have heard a little bit about."
"The Ghost Zone has holidays? I mean I knew about the Christmas truce, but I wasn't sure if it actually had its own holidays," I said curiously.
"The Ghost Zone nearly has as many unique holidays as Earth does," Scarlet explained. "The Ghost Flower Festival is specifically a holiday that was started by nature and spring ghosts that wanted to emulate the Cherry Blossom Festivals and Flower Viewing Festivals."
I don't think I ever saw any nature ghosts in Amity Park before, at least not any that I could remember off the top of my head. "You two will be going there tomorrow?"
"If you can be here early, we can squeeze in a training session until we depart," Scarlet offered. "We'll be gone for most of the day. Thankfully we don't need to worry about any ghosts as this is one of the other Ghost Zone holidays with a truce."
"Sounds interesting," I noted before remembering something about Danny that had me concerned. "Um… hey, a quick question… is it natural for ghosts to become aggressive? I mean ghosts that aren't holy knights or aren't non-fighting ghosts."
"Depending on the time of the month as well as the lunar cycle and the age of the ghost, the ghost in question could act somewhat more aggressive," Juliette answered. "However… if it's Danny or yourself that you are talking about, then it would be unusual."
That made me a little more worried. "Why's that?"
"Outside of Halloween, ghost children are usually quite happy," Juliette replied. "If you or Danny are acting aggressively all of a sudden, it could be a sign that something could be wrong. It may not be anything big, it could be as simple as something is bothering you. However, if the aggression gets worse, it would be recommended to take the ghost to a ghost hospital to be looked at."
"And before you ask, yes, ghosts have hospitals," Scarlet added. "Though if one of you is acting aggressive, that also concerns me. Perhaps I should take a look to make sure nothing is influencing you."
"Ah, it's not me, Scarlet," I quickly said. "I just noticed that Danny was acting more aggressive than usual towards someone we consider an enemy, so it had me concerned. I wasn't sure if it was his ghost nature or something else, but then again, I guess having our friends in danger of dying due to said enemy could've pushed him further than most ever had before." Especially after what happened with Dan.
"That… most likely was the issue," Juliette remarked. "If your friends' lives were in peril, that would push any being to desperation and aggression."
"Though I'm surprised that you didn't seem to act that way since they are your friends too," Scarlet noted, looking at me.
"I was worried for them, but I don't know, I didn't feel like we would lose them exactly… or maybe I just knew everything would turn out alright," I shrugged. Or maybe I've gotten used to facing the impending doom of losing someone I care about. I did used to think Danny was dead, after that drama it's hard to phase me much anymore. … Now that makes me worried for my own psyche, Jazz would probably have a field day with that...
"It could be that your ability to see the future makes it hard for you to see things from a non-logical point of view," Juliette offered. "If you see how something is going to end and know it's going to end up alright, you would most likely act calmly during the events of the ordeal."
"Probably, I mean I didn't see them getting cured, but maybe I just had a feeling they would be," I decided, it was better than thinking it was because I've gotten used to it.
"Well, if Danny starts showing more aggression even after your friends are fine, be sure to let us know," Scarlet instructed.
I nodded.
"For now, you should get back to your home and try to get some sleep. You wouldn't want to be too exhausted to train, would you?" Scarlet grinned.
I gave a small smile. "Okay. Thanks, Scarlet, Juliette. I'll see if I can swing by tomorrow morning."
"See you tomorrow…" Juliette waved, yawning a little.
I turned myself intangible and flew out of the opera house. I felt a little better after talking to Juliette and Scarlet, though I was still a little bit worried about Danny. I know he was angry at Vlad, but I still couldn't help but worry about how he just threw the man off like that after he just recovered from a fatal disease, even before Vlad infected Sam and Tucker, Danny was willing to let the man die from the ecto acne. I just hoped that it wasn't a sign of Corrupted Danny coming back. He couldn't come back, could he? That mist isn't in Danny anymore…
Then my watch glowed, and I suddenly saw visions of Danny looking at me with a smirk. What scared me was his eyes were red, like when Freakshow had been controlling him. I shook my head and grabbed the watch.
"Is Danny going to be evil again…?" I questioned worriedly. "No… it could just mean he was being controlled again…"
I wish I could see more details from that vision, and what it could mean or how it lead up to that possibility, but I wasn't seeing any more. I decided to try to not worry about it, and head back home to get some sleep.
How could I have let this happen? I was frowning to myself as I was in human form, running into the forest.
It was morning, and the sun was barely rising into the sky. I felt tired, and had reverted to my human form. I had to hide somewhere, he was looking for me. I quickly crawled into a bush, hoping that by being in my human form he wouldn't be able to sense me.
"Come back here, Andy~"
I stiffened when I heard his voice, he sounded like he was having fun. I looked up from the bush I was hiding in. I could see him flying up there, looking for me. Danny was patient, he knew I was nearby, and he also knew I was hiding.
"Come out, come out wherever you are!~" Danny called out, giggling and laughing a little.
Don't move, don't make a sound, don't run, don't flee, don't panic, he can sense those. Stay calm, stay still, just let him fly by. I repeated to myself, trying to keep as still as possible while suppressing any feelings of anxiety I had.
"Come on, Andy, hiding forever is no fun," Danny stated as he began to fly closer to the bush I was hiding in.
My eyes widened when I saw Danny approaching my hiding spot. Can he see me? Did he sense me? He's getting too close… should I attack or should I wait?
I knew I had to do something, waiting didn't seem like a viable option. If I waited, and Danny did know I was here, then I was done for. He was already overpowered compared to me, meaning there was no way I could win like this.
"I think I'm getting warmer~" Danny snickered as he looked at the ground.
It took me a few moments to notice that I had left a trail as I ran. There were shoeprints in the ground as well as broken twigs and branches that would all lead Danny… to me.
I should've been more careful with covering my tracks! I guess Danny learned from the last time I had to run from him… I frowned to myself. Alright, plan B then…
When Danny came up to the bushes I was hiding in, I quickly turned myself intangible and sunk into the ground just before I heard him opening the bushes.
"Ah huh…?!" Danny remarked, confused as he thought I was definitely in there.
I came up from behind Danny before firing a ghost ray into his back, knocking him down into the bush.
"Oof!" Danny groaned.
I knew that wouldn't be enough to knock him down for long, so I quickly ran in the opposite direction, transforming into my ghost form while I was running, and turned myself invisible before I went flying, hoping this would make it harder for Danny to track me down. Unfortunately for me, even while invisible, Danny had the training to sense invisible ghosts. The training Juliette gave us made Danny able to sniff out an invisible ghost like a bloodhound.
"You know, bro, that, much like this, was a cheap shot~" Danny chuckled from somewhere behind me before I felt a ghost ray hit right into my back.
I let out a yelp as I released my invisibility and began falling. I quickly composed myself before I could fall too far. Crap! Now what do I do? Facing Danny head on like this is too dangerous.
"You can surrender if you want, bro," Danny offered.
"No, I won't surrender so easily," I hissed in defiance.
"Heh, then I guess you prefer to do this the hard way, just like always~" Danny smirked.
I won't be able to outfly him, so the best thing I can do is go at it and hope for the best. I frowned.
I summoned my Plasma Rod, and created an ecto version of the pistol I had used before. Danny blinked when he saw the weapons I made, before he grinned.
"Finally decided to take this seriously?" Danny asked before his hands began to glow. "Then bring it on, bro."
I stared at Danny as he stared at me back, both of us waiting for the other to make the next move.
"As much as I wish to see you two fight, I'm going to have to end the spar here for today!" Scarlet called out.
Danny and I looked down to see Scarlet and Juliette watching us. Danny and I looked at each other for a moment before I dissipated my weapons, and we both landed in front of Scarlet and Juliette.
"Aww, already? We were just about to get into it," Danny pouted.
"We have to get ready for the Ghost Flower Festival, Danny, which is why the training session today was short," Juliette explained.
I gave a sigh of relief, battling against Danny, even though it was only a friendly spar, was nerve wracking for me. Since Danny was a much stronger and faster opponent, it was difficult for me to get the upper hand on him, not to mention he knew me so well that most of my tactics wouldn't work effectively on him.
"I will say, though, that both of you were great in your spar, but you also have a lot to learn," Scarlet spoke up. "Andy, you had the right idea to try a sneak attack on an opponent who is much stronger than you, but you did poorly when it came to covering your tracks, and it got you caught in the end."
I sighed, nodding.
"As for you, Danny, you shouldn't let yourself get too comfortable or cocky when facing an opponent, even if they are weaker than you. It gives your opponent the opportunity to strike back, and it could be fatal depending on what they do," Scarlet explained to Danny.
"You both should always try to approach a situation from a relatively level head so you can properly evaluate the situation and see what kind of response is required to best deal with what is going on," Juliette added.
"We'll try to keep that in mind," I said.
"Yeah." Danny agreed, before he gave a curious look. "Did you say you and Scarlet are going to… a Ghost Flower Festival?"
"The Ghost Flower Festival," Juliette clarified. "And yes, Scarlet and I are both going to be going."
"Wait, what is it?" Danny asked, his curiosity peaked.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Juliette and Scarlet are going to a holiday in the Ghost Zone that apparently celebrates the flowers and other plants that spring and nature ghosts creates," I remarked.
Scarlet shook her head. "Putting it like that is a bit confusing, Andy. It's a holiday that was made by ghosts of spring, nature, and flowers who wanted to have a Ghost Zone holiday similar to the multiple flower festivals that Earth has like the Cherry Blossom Festivals in Japan and this nation's capital."
"Wow, that sounds really interesting." Danny smiled. "I didn't even know the Ghost Zone had holidays, well other than the Christmas truce."
"Yeah, I was pretty surprised too myself," I admitted.
Danny's smile widened. "Hey, would you two mind if Andy and I came along with you?"
"What?" I blinked. "You want to go to the Ghost Zone for this holiday?"
"You two would like to come?" Juliette raised a brow. "There is a truce on this holiday as well."
"Yeah, why not?" Danny replied before he looked at me. "Think about it, bro, this could be a great opportunity for us to learn more about the… um… ghost culture. We never go to the Ghost Zone without a good reason, so wouldn't it be good to just go there for some fun and research?"
Danny does have a point… it was cool to see things like the bazaar in the Ghost Zone, as well as the dragon kingdom that Dora now rules over, because it gave us glimpses of how ghosts live, and that they do have a civilization. This festival would indeed be a good opportunity to learn more, especially since we don't have our minds focused on a certain mission like we had with the whole beauty pageant and pretending to be a squire or a servant. I thought to myself.
I then gave a nod. "Yeah, I am interested in seeing the Ghost Flower Festival myself. That is, if that's okay with Juliette and Scarlet."
Juliette glanced at Danny and myself before over at Scarlet. "We'll have to get you two something to wear over your regular hazmat suits as people tend to dress up, or in Scarlet's case dress down, a little."
"The Ghost Flower Festival is one of the rare times I will go without my armor," Scarlet informed.
"Huh…" Danny looked down at his hazmat suit. "You know, we could never really change out of our hazmat suits while in ghost form now that I think about it."
"I've theorized that our hazmat suits are either fused to our skin or they're a part of our ghost forms. They seem to regenerate whenever they get torn, which is kind of creepy," I pointed out. "But at least this doesn't stop us from wearing something over our hazmat suits."
"Have you two ever tried to change out of your hazmat suits?" Juliette raised a brow.
"Yeah, when I first turned into a ghost after the accident. I tried to take it off, but it was stuck like it was super glued onto me," Danny confirmed. "I think it might be possible to take it off, but I'm not sure how."
"Hmmm… it could be that you need to consciously or subconsciously desire to have the hazmat suit come off," Juliette theorized.
"I wonder if we would look a lot more human without these hazmat suits…" I mused.
"It would take some time for you two to learn how to take off the clothes you… 'died' in, most ghosts who died often never take off the clothes they died in for a long time," Scarlet stated.
"Huh, you know, that would explain why all the ghosts we've been fighting are always wearing the same thing," Danny noted.
"Oh… wow, you're right, even Ember still wears her black leather rock clothes," I realized.
Juliette chuckled a little.
"So what do you two suggest we wear?" I asked Scarlet and Juliette. "This… you know, is our first time going to the Ghost Flower Festival."
"We'll get you some nicer clothes," Juliette assured.
"Is there a shop at the festival or something?" Danny asked. "Or are we going to a bazaar or a clothing store before we go?"
"Don't worry about it. For now, you two go home and rest a little bit," Juliette instructed. "In about an hour, come to the opera house and we'll have some clothes for you to put on over your hazmat suits."
"Ah, so we're going in an hour," I realized.
Scarlet gave a nod.
Danny and I were sitting in our room, going over our homework to make sure there were no mistakes as well as to pass the time. Danny put down his stack of homework before glancing over at me.
"I'm all done checking my homework, bro," Danny stated.
"I'm almost done, just checking the last few questions…" I replied back.
"After that, I have a question of my own for you," Danny said as he slid his homework into his folder before he put it in his backpack.
At least we're able to get our homework done a lot easier now. Mr. Lancer won't have to get on our case as much anymore. I inwardly smiled to myself as I added something to the last question since I wanted to make what I put sound better.
"There, all done." I grinned as I picked up my homework to put it into my folder, and then into my own backpack. "So what did you want to ask me?"
"Why are you wearing that cursed watch necklace again?" Danny asked.
"It's not cursed anymore, remember?" I pointed out. "And this watch… I think it helps me with my future visions."
"Right, I forgot that the curse was broken," Danny chuckled, scratching his head a little. "And… what do you mean it helps with your future visions?"
"Well, you know how rarely I get future visions? And sometimes they're not that… detailed?" I asked.
Danny gave a nod.
"This watch seems to be able to show me what I want to see, though I can only see glimpses of the future, or possibly different branches of the future, it's hard to tell right now," I explained. "I'm hoping that the longer I wear it, the easier it would be for me to be able to see the future in better detail."
"Isn't it a bit… dangerous to wear something that's affecting you?" Danny worriedly questioned.
"Maybe, but Clockwork had me keep it for a reason. And I doubt he'd let me keep it if he knew it could affect me badly," I reasoned. "And other than a slight headache, there doesn't seem to be any ill side effects from it so far."
"If it's giving you a headache, maybe you should take it off before we go to the festival," Danny suggested. "That way you can take in the sights and sounds without having a headache distracting you."
"It's not constantly giving me a headache, that only happens when I look into the future," I clarified. "It's just a normal necklace watch otherwise, so don't worry about it."
Danny frowned a little. "Oh… well, okay then, I guess… What kind of future have you been seeing?"
I hesitated. I'm not sure if I should tell Danny what I've been seeing, I don't want him to worry and stress out over something that I don't even know how or when it will happen. On the other hand, not telling him at all could potentially be worse as he wouldn't know the possible dangers he would be in. Then again if I do tell him, there's a strong possibility he could trigger it happening in the first place. Should I tell him or should I not?
"Bro? You there?" Danny asked, waving his hand in front of my face.
I shook my head, looking at Danny. "Sorry, bro, just… thinking about the best course of action. I… can't really say what I've been seeing until I can decipher the visions better. Heck, for all I know, telling you could trigger some of the… um… bad futures."
Danny frowned before he gave a small nod. "I guess I'll trust you to let me know if it comes down to it."
"Thanks," I said gratefully before looking at the watch, seeing that it was ticking. Huh… wasn't it frozen in time before? "Hasn't it almost been an hour since we last spoke to Scarlet and Juliette?"
Danny looked over at his phone. "It's been 50 minutes, so we can head over there now."
I nodded. "You know it's too bad that Tucker and Sam are busy this weekend, they might've wanted to come see this Ghost Flower Festival, especially Sam."
"Yeah… Tucker has his student council responsibilities to deal with," Danny responded. "Hopefully him and Val come up with some good plans. As for Sam… I really feel bad for her that she is being forced to spend the whole day with her parents."
"Let's hope they don't drive Sam up the wall," I chuckled. "Before we go, we should let Jazz know so she could cover for us in case we're gone for longer than we expected."
Danny nodded in agreement.
Both of us stood up from our desk and walked to our door. I looked back at Hope. "We'll see you later, Hope."
"See you later, Hope." Danny waved.
"Have fun out there, boys," Hope answered back with a wave of her own.
After we left our room, Danny and I went to Jazz's door. I knocked on Jazz's door since I knew she preferred her privacy. Jazz opened the door, and I noticed she was holding a book, likely a book she had been reading before I knocked on her door. I noticed the title of the book was 'In the Mind of a Corrupted Man'. I couldn't help but shiver at the title. I wonder if I should borrow that book at one point… just in case...
"Oh, hey Andy," Jazz greeted as she inserted a bookmark and closed the book.
On the front cover was a picture of a man wearing an orange prison jumpsuit and instead of his normal head, it looked like the top of his head had been removed and there was a magnifying glass looking into the person's brain. It was quite fitting considering the title of the book.
"Trying to get into the mind of criminals now, Jazz?" Danny asked from behind me, likely seeing the book's cover.
"Oh, hey Danny, didn't see you there," Jazz chuckled sheepishly. "I was just studying on why people would become criminals. Most of them just start out as normal people, but due to their upbringing, circumstances, or environment, they end up becoming criminals. It's actually pretty sad how often this happens in real life."
I frowned as I remembered Freakshow, and the diary I read about him. While the death of his parents and his hard life attributed to his corruption, that crystal ball certainly didn't help matters. I also remembered how the evil future Dan came to be was also due to tragedy as well as unnatural circumstances, it still made sense how and why he came to be in the first place.
"Uh-oh, you got Andy thinking again," Danny remarked. "Andy, don't go starting up any train of thoughts, today we should be focused on the festival."
"Festival?" Jazz asked, curiosity sparking in her teal eyes.
Danny nodded. "Juliette and Scarlet are taking us to the Ghost Zone for a holiday known as the Ghost Flower Festival. According to those two, it's similar to a cherry blossom festival."
"The Ghost Zone has holidays?" Jazz blinked, surprised. "And they have one similar to a holiday in Japan and Washington DC? You two are actually going to go into the Ghost Zone for a festival? What if it's dangerous?"
"There's apparently a truce during the festival as well," I answered. "So… hopefully the ghosts won't break it and attack us. Besides, we'll have Scarlet with us, I doubt anyone would want to mess with her or anyone under her watch."
"Even without her armor, she's no doubt still strong enough and scary enough to take anyone," Danny sheepishly chuckled.
Jazz gave it some thought.
"And think of it this way, Jazz, this is also good for research. We can see how the ghosts usually are in their own world, and what kind of culture they have," I added. "I mean we have been in the Ghost Zone a few times, but we usually have a mission in mind. At least this way, we'll be relaxed enough to just enjoy ourselves and observe."
"Fine, you two can go, but despite enjoying yourself, I want you to take notes of the festival and write me a small little essay when you get back," Jazz finally responded after a few minutes. "I've been wanting to start compiling as much information as we can on the Ghost Zone. Hopefully we can use all that information in the future to convince Mom and Dad to stop hunting ghosts."
"Or at least stop trying to tear them apart molecule by molecule. They could still help us hunt ghosts and take them back to the Ghost Zone," Danny pointed out. "And don't worry, Jazz, I usually put everything we see in the Ghost Zone into the Ghost Files on my laptop. The one you hacked into before, remember?"
"You're never going to let that one go, are you?" Jazz muttered. "Besides, I didn't hack, you simply chose one of the easiest passwords in existence 'p4ssw0rd' which wasn't better than the previous password that I 'hacked'... Seriously, Danny, 'paulinafenton1'?"
I almost threw up a little. "This is why I just use paper and pen to write stuff down."
"Well the password isn't so obvious anymore." Danny pouted.
"It's probably something like 'p4ulin4fent0n4ever'..." Jazz sighed, shaking her hand a little.
"It is not!" Danny huffed.
"I'll also be sure to write everything down. I do keep a journal after all," I chuckled.
Jazz gave a nod and a smile. "Make sure you're back before Monday at least. I can tell Mom and Dad that you're sleeping over with a friend if you aren't back by tonight."
"We'll try to get back before then, though I have no idea how different the time zones will be in that part of the Ghost Zone," I said.
"Thanks for covering for us, Jazz, we really appreciate it." Danny smiled a little.
"I'll just add it to the pile of favors you owe me~" Jazz laughed.
Danny and I rolled our eyes before we walked away, leaving Jazz to continue her reading.
"Danny, was it actually 'p4ulin4fent0n4ever'?" I asked as we were heading out the door.
"N-no!" Danny stuttered, his cheeks turning red.
"... Is your next password going to be 'D4nnyPh4tom?" I asked.
"... No!" Danny quickly denied.
"Maybe I should help you come up with a better password," I sighed.
"No! My current passwords are strong enough and nobody would ever guess them!" Danny grumbled defiantly.
"Sure, bro, whatever you say," I replied with a small grin.
"You both look adorable!" Scarlet smiled.
Danny and I were standing in front of Scarlet and Juliette in the opera house in our ghost forms, and they had just put our supposed festival clothes over our hazmat suits.
"They are perfectly sized, Scarlet, good job," Juliette complimented as she looked at Danny and myself.
We were both wearing long sleeved button up shirts that had flower designs on it. We were also wearing some light tan khakis.
"Until you two can learn to control your clothing, that's the best we can do for you," Juliette stated. "It would feel weird to put shoes over your current boots and we can't really do anything to make your gloved hands look more natural."
"This is kind of weird. We never had to wear casual clothes over our hazmat suits before. It almost feels like we actually are going on a vacation as ghosts," Danny chuckled.
"I can see the headlines now. 'Ghost Boy hero and his brother taking a trip to Ghost Zone Hawaii'," I laughed.
Juliette giggled a little at that.
Juliette was wearing what looked like a traditional kimono from all the anime and manga that Danny and I have watched and read. Meanwhile Scarlet was wearing somewhat of a kimono, but it had two legs instead of the one singular body. She had her hair done up and held in place with what looked like the sheath of a dagger. Following the sheath, I noticed that there was in fact a small handle of a dagger sticking out of one end.
"I believe we are all ready to go, Princess Juliette," Scarlet remarked.
Juliette nodded to Scarlet before she looked at us. "Is it safe to go to your house's basement to get into the Ghost Zone?"
"Yeah, our parents are currently on patrol in the city looking for any ghosts to hunt," Danny answered. "So the lab should be clear for an hour or two."
"Good." Juliette smiled. "Hopefully we can eventually create a more natural Ghost Portal in here so we don't have to go through your home to get back to the Ghost Zone."
"Is that possible?" I asked.
"Some ghosts do have the ability to summon Ghost Portals," Scarlet informed.
"If done right, one of those ghosts can create a permanent Ghost Portal in a set location," Juliette added.
"Oh, didn't Wulf have the ability to make a portal?" Danny asked me.
"I don't think he makes a portal, it's more like he rips through reality to jump into another," I replied, thinking about how the anthropomorphic wolf ghost used his claws to literally slash through reality, ripping it open.
"Wulf's ability also has a portal that seals itself after some time," Juliette informed.
"We can discuss that another time, for now, we should head into the basement of Fenton Works," Scarlet spoke up.
The four of us turned intangible and invisible before flying out of the opera house together. We stayed close so we wouldn't get separated while invisible. Thanks to Juliette's lessons, Danny and I were much better at becoming unnoticeable while invisible, even under Skulker's or Mom and Dad's radars.
We soon landed in Fenton Works, using intangibility to get into the lab quicker. I was grateful that Jazz kept the ecto alarm system off to make it easier for us to get inside in our ghost forms. All of us returned to visibility once we were in the lab, and approached the Ghost Portal.
"Make sure you both stay close to us, we wouldn't want you getting lost as this will be in a location neither of you are familiar with," Scarlet instructed to me and Danny.
"Got it." Danny nodded.
"Okay," I answered.
"Are you two ready to go?" Juliette asked.
"As ready as we'll ever be," I said.
"Meaning yes." Danny grinned.
Scarlet and Juliette flew through the portal first, then Danny and I followed them through. When we were in the Ghost Zone, Danny, Juliette, and I followed behind Scarlet. While we were flying, I did notice the Ghost Zone felt less ominous and hostile today, most likely due to the truce.
It was weird, I found it relaxing just flying through the Ghost Zone like this for a change, it was nice. Scarlet slowed down and gestured to something up ahead.
"There is our destination," Scarlet announced.
Danny and I floated ahead a little to see. I was surprised to see a large floating land in the middle of the Ghost Zone, there were a lot of ghosts heading towards it. There were a lot of trees with glowing leaves, some of different colors like blue, pink, red, and yellow. I could also see what appears to be stalls on the land. It truly looked like a civilization's holiday in a public area.
"Don't float off too far!" Juliette called after us. "It would be unwise with so many adults around!"
Danny and I stopped before we looked back, a little surprised that we had flown a little far from them.
"Ah, sorry about that, I guess we got a little too excited when we saw the… uh… domain?" I sheepishly stated.
"Yeah, we've never seen something so… open like that before," Danny added.
Scarlet chuckled. "It's understandable that you two would get excited like this. Most ghosts who see something like this for the first time would be excited, especially ghost children."
"But you shouldn't wander too far as that may put you at risk," Juliette warned. "While there is a truce, there are… certain things that aren't a part of it."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"It's… a bit complicated and not something we should talk about here," Juliette responded hesitantly. "Let's just say that you two, who are classified as ghost children, should stay close to us."
Danny and I looked at each other. We were used to being called 'ghost kids' by the ghosts we fought on a daily basis, so neither of us were sure what the big deal was. But we decided to heed Juliette's warning and stay close to her and Scarlet as we landed on the supposed public domain.
"Now, there are plenty of things to do here," Scarlet informed. "Eat, shop, converse, play, or simply watch the leaves as they flow from the trees."
I smiled as I looked around, seeing the leaves that came off the trees were floating through the air. I wondered if they looked this magical in Japan. There were a lot of different ghosts here, moving around, talking to each other, eating food, or just observing the leaves. There were a lot of ghosts I've never seen before flying around, and seem to be causing flowers to grow and bloom on the grass. They were likely the nature ghosts Scarlet told us about. They weren't the only ghosts that I was unfamiliar with. I saw some colorful looking wisp-like ghosts floating around. They seem to be able to change their colors at will, and made some kind of music-like noises.
"Until you two are older, I would recommend staying as far away from those Wisps as possible," Scarlet suggested. "They… tend to cause unwanted results in ghost children that feed off their energy."
This warning surprised me, and Danny too since he looked at Scarlet in shock and confusion.
"Wisps? And what do you mean feed off their energy? We don't eat energy," Danny stated.
"Those wisp-like ghosts that can change their colors and make musical noises, they're called Will-O-the-Wisps, we call them Wisps for short," Scarlet explained. "They release a universal energy that all ghosts can consume. While I'm not entirely sure how that would affect half ghosts like you two, it's better to be safe than sorry."
"The reason Scarlet is giving you the warning is because ghost children, unlike ghost adults, are unable to control the flow of energy that the Wisps give them," Juliette elaborated. "Overfeeding on the energy of Wisps can lead to effects similar to drunkenness, being on some kind of drug, or make one act a little more… instinctually."
I started to imagine Danny acting drunk, and wondered what he would do if he was. I was curious to see if I could even see that future, but decided to hold myself back as I didn't want to get a headache while we were here.
"That's kind of weird. I mean we never ate energy before," Danny remarked.
"But we should take their word for it. I'd rather not chance a possibility of becoming drunk off of ghost energy," I replied.
"If a Wisp comes up to you, all you need to say to them is that you don't want any of their energy," Juliette stated. "They will usually leave you alone after that."
"Now, you two are free to explore, but be sure not to go too far," Scarlet instructed. "As long as you two are here, you'll be treated like ghost children, so it's best if you stay within our sight."
It was odd to be told to stay in the sight of our guardians, we haven't been told to do that since we were 10 years old. Mom and Dad were usually very lenient on what we did, mostly because they were too into what they were doing with their inventions. It was even weirder to be told that while in our ghost forms, the same forms we used to battle against ghosts on a daily basis.
"Okay, we'll be sure to stay close," Danny promised before he smiled at me. "Come on, bro, let's go see what they have!"
I chuckled before I followed Danny. We started looking at the different stands, wondering what each of them were selling or giving away.
"Free food, hot off the grill!"
"Come get your souvenirs!"
"Take home your very own Ghost Flower tree seed today! Guaranteed that they'll grow and live in any environment and make your home that much more beautiful!"
"Shirts, pants, dresses, and all other clothes for sale! Each customer gets 1 free shirt, all other purchases are discounted!"
I chuckled, seeing how the salespeople were the same no matter what life or afterlife they were in. I saw a lot of ghosts getting taken in by the salespeople's announcements, paying with Ectos. I noticed a few ghosts were also paying in treasure. I remembered Scarlet telling us that different types of payments were accepted in different areas of the Ghost Zone, the Ectos are just the easiest since they're universal in the Ghost Zone.
"I still wonder where they get the food. Do they get it here, in the Ghost Zone, or from our world?" I questioned. "They don't look like… 'ghost food'." Not that I would know what that would look like… other than maybe the food's glowing unnaturally or something.
Danny shook his head and shrugged. "Your guess is as good as mine, bro."
"Would you like something to eat, children?" Someone called out, sounding like they were directing their voice to Danny and me.
Both Danny and I turned around to see who was calling to us. An anthropomorphic rabbit ghost that was surprisingly white instead of green, was waving over to us.
"Come here, grab something to eat!" The rabbit ghost smiled. "You two look famished!"
It wasn't every day we would see an intelligent animal ghost that wasn't all green. Danny and I curiously approached the sales rabbit.
"Thanks, but we don't have any money on us, we're just looking around," I said.
"Whatever you want is free." The rabbit ghost beamed. "Though I do have to ask… which one of you is the duplicate?"
Danny and I looked at each other. We were both surprised that the food was apparently free, though we were also a bit annoyed that ghosts still have trouble telling that we were twins, not duplications of each other.
"Neither of us are duplicates, we can't even use that trick yet," Danny answered.
"We're twin brothers," I clarified.
The rabbit ghost seemed a bit shocked before she gave a curious expression. "Ghost twins…? Has that ever happened before?"
"Are ghost twins really that rare?" Danny frowned.
"Well yeah. Even though there are twins in the world of the living, they don't usually look identical to each other once they become ghosts," The rabbit ghost informed before she studied both of us. "Some ghosts do try to pretend they have twins or more by using duplication."
"Like I said, we can't use that trick yet," Danny sighed.
The rabbit ghost looked closely before nodding. "I can see that. If you two were duplicates, you would be exactly the same in every way. However, there are key features that are different about you besides your clothing. I'm Snowy, nice to meet you two. Now, what can I get for you?"
"Is the food actually free or is there a catch?" I asked skeptically.
The rabbit ghost, Snowy, looked a little hurt and shocked at that question. "Why would I ever trick a child on a holiday?"
"People do it all the time, especially to children," I answered.
"You'll have to forgive us, Snowy, my brother and I have been tricked on more than one occassion," Danny explained.
"Have you two ever been to a holiday before?" Snowy inquired.
"Well… not here in the Ghost Zone, no," I stated.
"I see… that would explain why you two don't know that the truce that happens on most holidays protects ghost children from people who would try to trick them or kidnap them," Snowy informed. "Anyone who violates the truce will have a severe punishment placed upon them or they will have to go to Ghost Court."
"Ghost Court?" Danny repeated, surprised. "There's a Ghost Court? I had always assumed that anyone who gets arrested would just be tossed into Walker's prison."
Snowy gave both of us a curious look. "Ah, you two must be new ghosts then. Walker has his own rules in his own domain and area, but even he isn't allowed to execute anyone until the ghost gets a trial in Ghost Court."
There really was a lot Danny and I needed to learn about the ghost culture, they apparently had laws that we never knew about, laws that weren't just made up by Walker.
"Hmmm… perhaps you can find a book stall and ask if they can give you a copy of the 'Newcomer's Guide to the Ghost Zone'," Snowy suggested. "It includes most common knowledge such as taboos, holidays, different safe zones and domains, and much much more."
"Maybe we can ask if Juliette or Scarlet could buy us one of those books," I suggested.
Danny nodded in agreement.
"For now, what would you two like to eat?~" Snowy giggled as she gestured to the menu.
Danny and I looked at the menu Snowy provided for us. There were a lot of food that I've never heard of before listed on the menu, and there weren't any pictures of the food either. The description didn't help, most of them just said they're very nutritious for ghosts. The only ones I recognized were 'glob pizza' and 'ecto stew', and I had a strong feeling those weren't going to be regular food that we normally eat.
"If you'd like, there is a kids' menu," Snowy offered as she pulled out another menu that had things like mummy dogs, spiderweb pizza, bone sandwiches, booritos, hack and cheese, and more.
Danny and I looked at each other, I could see the disgust in his eyes.
"Err… do you serve any food that the living could eat?" Danny finally asked.
Snowy chuckled and pushed the kids' menu closer. "Yup. All of those are essentially human foods with spooky sounding names. The mummy dogs are commonly known as 'pigs in a blanket' or 'wrapped hot dogs', the spiderweb pizza is simple a pizza with some sauce dribbled on top of the melted cheese to look like a spider web, and the hack and cheese is just mac and cheese."
"Ah, maybe you should work on putting that in the description in the menus, I doubt new ghosts like us would know that," I sheepishly suggested.
Snowy giggled. "I leave it pretty vague because I believe someone shouldn't judge a food by it's looks. Giving simply the ingredients and the name tends to make a ghost leave the comfort zone they have for food so they can expand their selection of 'favorites'."
"It's like eating at a Halloween party," Danny chuckled.
"So, do you boys know what you want?" Snowy smiled.
After we had a meal at Snowy's stand, Danny and I were exploring around the area once more. Though Danny was still munching on his slice of spiderweb pizza.
"Hey, what's going on over there?" I asked when I saw a small crowd of ghosts gathering around.
"Not sure," Danny muttered between bites of pizza. "Wanna go check it out?"
"Yeah, it looks pretty interesting." I smiled.
Danny and I walked over to the crowd, trying to see what's gotten all the ghosts' attention. There was a sudden rush of wind that nearly blew the pizza out of Danny's hand, who quickly juggled the pizza a bit to catch it.
"Watch this!" A confident, but slightly cocky, sounding voice declared before there was another gust of wind.
The gust of wind sent thousands of the glowing leaves of the trees into the air, making everyone 'ooh' and 'aah'.
Danny and I managed to squeeze ourselves through the crowd to see who was performing these 'tricks'. We both looked up in awe seeing a huge ghost before us, it was sort of humanoid, I guess, though it didn't look human. It didn't have legs, instead it had a long tail that had green clouds moving around the entirety of its tail, its chest was pretty big, though I wasn't sure if it was muscular because it was wearing a black vest-like piece of clothing over his entire upper body, with a lightning bolt, a green circle in the middle, and a red circle inside the green circle with the tip of the lightning bolt going up from the red circle, it also wore black gloves, and its fingers were sharp, almost like claws. The head was a little hard to describe, it had two lightning shaped ears, red glowing eyes, and a mouth. Its entire body though was neon green like most ghosts.
"Something like that is easy for someone as powerful as me, Tempest!~" The weather themed ghost said in the same confident and cocky voice.
"Can you do more?" Some of the crowd requested.
The ghost named Tempest smirked before it began laughing. "Of course I can! Just watch me!"
From what I could tell from the voice alone, Tempest is a male ghost.
Tempest raised up his arms and started to create more wind, however, the wind was much more wild this time, and it began to move in a circular pattern. My eyes widened as the wind started to look more and more like a cyclone.
"Uh… is this supposed to happen?" Someone asked nervously.
"Don't worry, I got this!" Tempest smiled, somewhat nervously, before he created another cyclone that appeared to be rotating in the opposite direction. Tempest began to move the second cyclone towards the first one, planning to have the two cyclones of opposite rotation cancel each other out.
However, as Tempest was moving the two cyclones together, there were large gusts of wind which were knocking those closest to Tempest over. A few of the nearby food stands were also starting to shake and sway from the wind despite the size of them.
I yelped when something hit me in the face, blinding me. I heard Danny letting out a gasp before I fell on my butt from the impact of whatever hit me and the winds. A lot of ghosts were screaming in the chaos. I managed to grab whatever was on my face and take it off. I noticed that it was a half eaten spiderweb pizza, it must've gotten blown out of Danny's hand and hit my face. Eew, now I have cheese and marinara sauce all over my face!
"Almost… there!" Tempest shouted as the two cyclones began to combine.
Once the two cyclones combined enough, they cancelled each other out completely.
"Sorry… about that…" Tempest apologized as he breathed heavily. "I lost control for a-"
Tempest stopped when he looked around, his eyes widening. I looked around too, despite the mess on my face. I wasn't the only one who looked like a mess though. The entire area was not only messy with food, but some of it was torn down. There were a few stands that looked like they fell apart or were missing a few pieces of the structure. The ghosts around us had food on them, and some of their clothes were a bit torn. Danny looked fine if a bit shaken up, and his hair was messy. I wondered for a brief moment if Danny had the idea to go intangible during Tempest's loss of control.
"What have you done?" I heard someone hissing angrily.
"I… I'm sorry!" Tempest responded, looking somewhat terrified. "I didn't mean to… I just… I only meant to… I-I-I lost control, I'm sorry! Please… please don't be mad…"
"You lost control!? Because of you, I lost my stand!"
"My dress is completely ruined! My sister is going to re-kill me!"
"I'll fix everything, I swear!" Tempest spoke up. "I promise. Please, just don't call… them… I swear, I will do anything to right this situation!"
"Just go somewhere else before you mess up even more things for this festival!"
"I have enough to clean up without you screwing everything up."
"If you use your weather powers here one more time, we will call them!"
Tempest froze up a little before his head drooped. "I understand…"
Tempest sounded like all emotion had been drained from him as he said that. Tempest turned and began to float away, most likely not wanting to cause any more destruction most.
"Oh man… I feel bad for the poor weather ghost." Danny frowned from beside me. "He was only trying to liven things up."
Danny looked at me. "Uh… hey bro, you got a little something on your face."
I gave an annoyed glare at Danny before he gave a sheepish grin. "Oh really, Danny? I hadn't noticed."
"I kind of wish we could do something to help Tempest, though I wonder what he was worried about when he said not to call 'them'. Who's them?" Danny wondered.
"It's best you two children stay away from Tempest," An anthropomorphic ghost cat warned us.
"Why? So he messed up a little, that doesn't make him a criminal," I asked.
"That wasn't his first 'mess up'," The anthropomorphic ghost cat informed. "He's been to prison a few times because of his 'mess ups'."
"Wait, seriously?" Danny raised an eyebrow. "Jeez, I knew Walker would find any excuse to throw someone in prison."
"No, not Walker, Walker wouldn't be able to hold someone like Tempest. Tempest is a very powerful ghost, as you two just saw for yourselves," The ghost cat pointed out. "His weather powers are unpredictable, and destructive, he's caused planet wide destruction before because of his 'lack of control', though many speculate he did it all on purpose, nobody is that clumsy with their own powers, even if they are new ghosts. One of the Ghost Zone's factions imprisoned him."
Danny and I blinked at that, we didn't know the Ghost Zone had factions.
"That's why I said you should stay away from him," The ghost cat continued. "Being near him will leave you either open to his… bad attitude, or you could get hurt by his 'lack of control'."
"We'll be sure to keep that in mind, thanks for the warning, Mr. Cat," I said before hesitating. "Uh… is it okay to call you 'Mr. Cat'?"
"Just call me Tom," The ghost cat chuckled. "Hmm… are you two twins?"
"Yup." Danny smiled. "You're the first ghost to ask us that instead of assuming we're duplicates."
"My, what a rare sight." Tom purred. "Would you two like a tour around the domain?~"
"Don't even try…" A familiar, powerful voice stated from nearby before Scarlet and Juliette walked over.
Tom quickly straightened up when he saw Scarlet. "M-Miss Holy Knight! A-are these two under your care?"
"Yes," Scarlet confirmed before raising her voice. "These two boys are my charges and are not up for adoption at this time!"
"O-oh, yes, of course. Excuse me," Tom quickly moved away.
Juliette walked over to me with a with a slightly wet napkin and began to wipe up my face, chuckling a little.
"You know the food is supposed to go in your mouth and not all over, right?" Juliette joked.
"Really? I'll have to try that next time," I sarcastically replied.
"Did you two see what happened?" Danny asked curiously.
"Tempest created a cyclone that he couldn't control because he was focusing more on his cocky attitude than controlling his powers and ended up causing a mess," Scarlet summarized.
"Does that happen a lot with him?" I asked. "It sounds like it happened enough to get him imprisoned by one of the Ghost Zone's factions… which I'm guessing are higher ups around here."
Juliette finished wiping my face clean from the pizza sauce and cheese.
"Unfortunately it does happen quite a bit with him," Scarlet confirmed. "And yes, the factions are essentially the government bodies of the Ghost Zone. On Earth, and specifically in America, you namely have democrats and republicans. It is similar for the Ghost Zone except there are more than 2 factions vying for control. In the Ghost Zone there are three main factions and many more lesser factions."
"Great, even in death there are still politicians," Danny rolled his eyes.
"Politics isn't the same in the Ghost Zone as it is in America," Scarlet informed with a small smirk. "Here there aren't false promises or any one person with absolute power."
"Things are quite different in the Ghost Zone compared to Earth," Juliette added.
"Yeah, we've heard from a ghost rabbit called Snowy. She suggested a book that's called Newcomer's Guide to the Ghost Zone," I explained. "She said it'll help us get familiar with how the ghost culture works as well as the laws and other stuff."
"Considering we haven't spent a lot of time in the Ghost Zone for research or for fun, having a book like that would definitely come in handy," Danny added.
"And Jazz would have a field day with a book like that," I chuckled.
"We could get you two a couple," Juliette responded. "They're quite common books. In fact, they're probably the most widely spread piece of literature or documentation in the entire Ghost Zone."
"They are kind of necessary for new ghosts after all." Scarlet grinned. "We should make sure we pick up the latest edition, however, as those books are always getting updated with new information."
While they were talking about the book, I noticed my watch was glowing a little. Curious, I lifted it up a bit to have a better look. The watch's needles were spinning around quickly as if time was suddenly going at super speed. I blinked as I watched the needles continued to spin until they suddenly stopped at 4:34 PM. That's odd, why did it spin around and stopped at that specific time?
The watch glowed brighter, and having a sudden urge to put it to my forehead, I did just that. I was suddenly standing with Danny, Tucker, and Sam at Amity Park, we were all outside from what appeared to be city hall, it was a very hot heatwave that day since I could see my brother and friends, as well as the people around us, sweating up a storm. It looked like school was let out already or this was during summer vacation.
Then I saw Vlad, which surprised me since I had no idea why he was coming out of city hall as I thought that was where the mayor of Amity Park was supposed to be. Vlad was saying something, but I couldn't hear his voice. Then Vlad held out some kind of device and pointed it at the sky, then some kind of blue electricity shot out of the device and into the only cloud in the sky. Suddenly, storm clouds covered the city, and it began to pour rain.
I suddenly found myself and Danny, in our Phantom forms, floating in front of Tempest, who looked like he had gotten bigger. He was angry, proud, and he actually looked villainous. He was shouting something, but I couldn't hear him. There was lightning all around us, heavy winds, rain, and hail pelting us. I think Danny and I were fighting Tempest. The last thing I saw was Tempest's lightning slamming right into me and Danny.
I gasped as I came out of the vision, dropping the watch before it hung on my neck.
"You okay, Andy?" Juliette asked in concern as she looked at me.
"Andy, bro, what happened?" Danny asked me in worry as he looked like he was ready to catch me if I suddenly fainted.
"Sorry… I didn't mean to worry you," I apologized as I rubbed the side of my head.
"Your watch was glowing, and you had it on your forehead," Danny pointed out. "What did you do?"
"The watch… I think it showed me a vision of the future with Tempest…" I frowned before I picked up my watch to look at it, the needles were moving normally again.
"What did you see exactly?" Danny questioned, curious about my vision.
"I saw him attacking Amity Park. It didn't look like it was an accident either, he looked genuinely malevolent and proud at what he was doing. I also saw Vlad there in city hall, that confused me since the last time we saw Vlad, he was going back to Wisconsin," I informed, trying to figure out what my vision was showing me. "It looked like there was a heat wave going on, and Vlad used some kind of device to make it rain. I couldn't hear what he was saying though, everything was silent in my vision, I could only see what was going on. Then I suddenly saw us, Danny, we were fighting Tempest I think… and it wasn't going so well."
Danny looked worried, but also intrigued. "You saw Vlad at city hall? And Tempest was actually attacking Amity Park? … Are you sure that was a future vision and not just some kind of nightmare you were having?"
"I don't know for sure, but I think it's better to be safe than sorry and assume that was a vision of the future," I answered.
"Perhaps we should have him arrested then…" Scarlet thought aloud.
"Wait, what if arresting him leads to that future?" I asked.
"But what if not arresting him leads to that future?" Danny pointed out. "How can you tell what would lead to what future?"
"I can't, that's the problem!" I groaned. "These visions show me what could potentially happen, but not how they happen…"
"If you need to get more clarification on your visions… you could always visit Clockwork…" Juliette hesitantly suggested, reminding me of her dislike of the ghost who was essentially a god of time.
Danny and I just gave Juliette a look of 'are you kidding?'
"While that may be a valid suggestion, Clockwork doesn't always just gives us straight answers," Danny sighed.
"Not to mention I doubt he would want to just straight up tell us how to get into the best possible future, that would go against his law of time or something," I added.
"Then instead of asking Clockwork for answers, you could ask him for training," Scarlet pointed out. "I am sure it would be well within his abilities to train you to better harness your powers."
"But what should we do in the meantime?" I frowned.
"Forget about the future and enjoy the present." Juliette smiled. "You are at a holiday, a celebration. You should take in everything you can or want to. After you both are satisfied, we can head back home."
"Shouldn't we talk to Tempest?" I asked.
"It's probably best not to get involved with him," Scarlet remarked.
"Are you sure? He seems kind of down." Danny frowned, looking over at Tempest, who was further away from everyone else.
"He is a criminal, Danny," Scarlet stated firmly. "Being near him will make others look down upon you. Simply talking to him will besmirch your image. He is only a few crimes away from being on my list."
I frowned a little, looking at Danny, then at Juliette.
Juliette was looking at me with an understanding expression. "I know you want to do what is best and you want to help Tempest, however this is one of those times that giving someone their space is what is best."
Danny then shrugged. "I guess Scarlet and Juliette know what's best around here."
I sighed, then relented. "I suppose you're right."
"Great, now come on, I know a great spot you two boys would love to see here." Scarlet smiled.
While Danny, Juliette, and I were following Scarlet, I couldn't help but look back at Tempest one more time, wondering if this really was the right thing to do or if I should've said something to the weather ghost after all.
Reviews
Jewel moonstone: DarkFoxKit: Andy's gonna mess with something if he thinks it'll benefit him in the future.
Auguste the Clown: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Thankfully we already took care of all this in PMs. Thank you for talking with me.
DarkFoxKit: Personally I don't mind the suggestions, they do help give ideas, and sometimes made me wish we did take a route like that.
RedHood001: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': I'm… not sure how you came to these conclusions, but… they're unfortunately incorrect. At least that isn't how Fox and I intended it to be.
DarkFoxKit: Andy was more anxious about how aggressive Danny was acting towards Vlad, and he was worried about what Vesper planned to do with Danny once she gets her hands on him. I've heard a little about Devil May Cry, but I don't know much about it, so any reference to that is all coincidence on my part.
Andy isn't trying to take a riskier path, he's trying to take the safest path possible, but he knew there's going to be some risks involved. It does make sense for Andy and Jazz to be sympathetic towards Vlad, since they both read a lot of psychology. Jazz more than Andy, but Andy does understand it enough to know not everything is black and white and people do what they do for a reason. So it makes sense for Andy to be a bit surprised by Danny's aggression towards Vlad. I couldn't help but notice Danny was becoming more and more aggressive towards Vlad as the series went on.
Andy feels he's just holding Danny back, because he's always falling behind his brother. His brother isn't afraid to take risks, and just do the right things, while Andy always hesitates. Vesper sees that as a weakness. Andy isn't bitter about Danny being more powerful, just more… self doubting because of it. I feel like we may have given you the wrong impression of what was going on, so I hope I explained everything alright to you. I didn't want you getting your hopes up only to be let down later.
Raidentensho: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': To be honest, the origination of the idea of Andy making his own weapons was based off of Archer. I simply added a ranged twist to it and made it more unique to Andy. Fox was the one who worked her telekinesis into the equation.
Haloguardian452: DarkFoxKit: He's not going to get any training in yet, but he and Danny will soon. As for specials, we don't see any of them as 'specials', they're all part of the story in my eyes, including the movies.
Mana: DarkFoxKit: Yeah, we had several names for the black knight, but we settled on Vesper.
My guess is that Clockwork decided to try to teach Danny a lesson since the boy insisted on 'learning the hard way' as Clockwork put it. But since Andy already learned that lesson the hard way, and he had an idea on what to do that didn't involve disrupting the past, Clockwork decided to be firm and say 'no' to Danny until Andy arrived. Danny is a smart boy, there's no question about that, he's as smart as Andy or Jazz, the only problem is he doesn't usually think a lot. Andy likes to think and observe the situation, while Danny prefers to jump into the action then think later if the situation calls for it. Of course, if Danny learns to be patient enough to think or listen to Andy more often, they'll become quite an unstoppable duo. Andy overthinks, Danny jumps into the action, those are their biggest flaws while in stressful situations right now.
Oh boy, Reality Trip… that one was quite the… special we've worked into. Heck, we're still working on it right now. A lot of things have changed, we've also included some slices of life into the Reality Trip chapters, and a whole lot of chaos. Butch Hartman, I think, pretty much admitted that the Reality Gauntlet was inspired by the Infinity Gauntlet from Avengers, so I'm not surprised it would remind you of that.
No, Reality Trip isn't the finale. I've already confirmed I'm going all the way to the end of season 3 with this series. And there are some original episodes we plan to do after Reality Trip but before Kindred Spirits. As well as another overhaul to the Double Cross My Heart episode. That episode was good in my opinion, though it does make Sam a hypocrite, but I feel there could be more to it, which there will be, especially after what will happen in Reality Trip in this story.
There's no literal 'Guardian Angel', there was a reason why it was in quotation marks. But… you could say someone or something was watching them. It won't be something that will be revealed until way later on though. But do keep it in mind when they do get revealed eventually.
