DarkFoxKit: *Frowns* My 3DS is breaking apart.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': *Gives a worried look* Which one? The Pikachu 3DS XL that we got at the same time? And how is it breaking?
DarkFoxKit: No. It's the old one. *Puts it away* Just forget about it. How was everyone's Valentine's Day?
Andy: Ehhh, it could've been better. One of my favorite things about this holiday is free candies *Is munching on a box of candy hearts without even reading the messages*
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Did you get any Valentine's cards from anyone, Andy?~
Andy: Hmm? No, why would I? These are just something you get in school because the staff pretty much requires everyone to give somebody something on Valentine's Day. I'm not exactly popular with the ladies.
DarkFoxKit: Uh-huh… so you didn't get any cards in school.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': *Narrows her eyes in suspicion* I think he purposefully dodged the question there. Because he is popular with at least one lady besides Maddie and Jazz.
Andy: *Blinks* What are you talking about?
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': I'm surprised you didn't get a Valentine's card from a certain huntress~
Andy: Oh please, she and I are just friends. Besides, she doesn't do Valentine's Day.
DarkFoxKit: *Walks in with a bunch of cards* Soooo… what should I do with all this?
Andy: Are those yours?
DarkFoxKit: Nope. They're yours.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Huh… well, if he doesn't want them, we could always use them as kindling for the fire.
Andy: Wait! How are they mine?
DarkFoxKit: These are from fans, from both girls and boys. Heh, seems you're pretty popular~
Andy: *Jaw drops in disbelief*
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': *Chuckles* Be glad we aren't telling you about the other Andy's love life~
Andy: *Pales* Oh please no, no, no! You better not!
DarkFoxKit: Okay, everyone, time to move on to the chapter~
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': If there are any late Valentine's cards you want to send into Andy, put them in the reviews. For now, go have fun reading.
Chapter 85: A Heart-to-Heart
Sitting with Hope in his room, looking confused, Danny was wondering just what happened…
I was confused and worried. I was holding onto Hope, staring at the window where my brother suddenly went into his ghost form and flew out in a panic.
"What… just happened?" I ended up asking.
"I'm not sure," Hope responded. "But I don't think now is the time to sit around. Whatever happened to Andy had him confused and shaken up, and now he is out in the city on his own in the middle of the night. You should probably go after him before anything happens, Danny."
I shook my head, snapping out of my confused trance. "R-right, I have to make sure Andy's okay."
I transformed myself into my ghost form quickly, then I put Hope down on Andy's bed. "I'll be back soon with Andy, I hope."
"You better be back soon," Hope chuckled. "Otherwise I'm claiming your bed~"
I rolled my eyes a little before going intangible and flying through the window. I flew up quickly into the night sky, looking around for Andy. Unfortunately, Andy's gotten really good at hiding his ghostly aura. It was hard to find him during our training spars, now that he seemed to be hiding for real he had become much harder to spot. I flew into the city, hoping I might be able to see or sense him a little bit if I got in closer.
What could've set him off? Andy's had nightmares before, but they never affected him to this extent. He looked at me as if I was going to do something really bad to him. Are his… nightmares of that time when I was… corrupted coming back? But even when he had those nightmares then, he still would be able to tell what was a nightmare and what wasn't… what's going on with him? I thought in worry as I flew around the city.
After a while of searching, but still not finding Andy anywhere, I decided to try the opera house. I was hoping maybe Andy went to go see Juliette and Scarlet, and that they were able to calm him down. It was a flimsy hope, however, as I knew Andy would know that would be the first place I looked, and if he was trying to hide from me, he wouldn't go to such an obvious place. I decided to go to the opera house anyways.
When I landed in front of the opera house's door, I knocked. I didn't want to alarm Scarlet and Juliette by suddenly flying in, and I didn't want Andy to suddenly fly away at my sudden appearance if he was here. I kept knocking on the door until someone answered.
"Come on in," Scarlet said as soon as she saw me, noticing my look of concern.
I walked inside and looked around. "Hey, Scarlet, sorry to disturb you and Juliette, but… has Andy been here?"
"No, I have not seen Andy," Scarlet answered. "Princess Juliette! Can you come down?"
After a few moments, Juliette phased through the wall of her room into the main room.
"You called?" Juliette inquired.
"Danny here is looking for Andy," Scarlet informed. "Have you seen him?"
"No, I have not," Juliette answered before giving a small frown. "Danny, can you explain the situation to us quickly?"
I gave a nod. "I'm not too sure what happened exactly myself. Andy was having a nightmare from what I could tell. Hope and I went to wake him up, but when he woke up, he suddenly freaked out. He was yelling about us staying back, before he suddenly turned into a ghost and flew away in a panic. I went to go look for him, but I haven't been able to find him. I'm really worried, Andy's had nightmares before, but this is the first time it's affected him so much that he still thinks he's in that nightmare, at least I think that's what's going on."
Juliette's frown intensified before she looked at Scarlet. "We will help in the search for Andy. Amity Park is quite a big city, and there are quite a few places to hide."
"Agreed, hopefully Andy didn't go too far," Scarlet stated.
"If we can't find Andy by morning, I'll call Tucker and Sam and tell them about the situation. They might be able to help find him," I said. "I'd rather not have to wake them up in the middle of the night."
"I'd say instead of waiting until morning, you call them in an hour or two at the very latest," Juliette suggested. "It doesn't make sense to possibly keep two extra sets of eyes out of the search for a considerable amount of time."
"Yeah, you're right. Tucker and Sam would want to help search for him too…" I sighed.
"Come on, we better start looking for him before something else happens to him," Scarlet spoke up.
Juliette, Scarlet, and I all flew out of the opera house and split up in different directions to begin a proper search of the city for my brother.
Still flying around the city in a confused panic…
I stayed low as I flew into the city, knowing that going high would make me an easier to spot target even while invisible. As I flew, however, I was a bit surprised that I was in Amity Park and not in Wisconsin.
How did I get back to Amity Park? Did Vlad decided to move here after I was knocked out? Was he planning to try to get to Mom after he got us? I asked myself. How did I escape from that brainwashing? Maybe… maybe I got incredibly lucky and it malfunctioned or something and neither Danny nor Vlad noticed. But what am I going to do now? I could try to go see if Juliette and Scarlet are here, and if they could help me, but involving them would be dangerous. I don't know what Vlad is capable of, especially now that he has my brainwashed brother with him.
I could sense the ghostly aura of Danny, he was looking for me. I don't think staying in the city is safe, if he acts well, he could get Scarlet and Juliette to help him find me. But I couldn't go to the opera house to warn them, Danny might find me quicker if I did. I hated this feeling of feeling alone, it was a feeling that I never wanted to experience again. Alone, helpless, and trying to hide from Danny.
I flew out of the city, but I didn't go very far. I had no destination in mind. I needed to try to calm down so I could think and figure out what to do. Once I reached the outskirts of Amity Park, I landed on a tree, deciding to take a break to try and sort out my thoughts.
It's weird. Why do I have memories of Mom and Dad capturing Danny and me? They… they didn't dissect us, did they? Why do I feel like they did, or tried to? Didn't we also tell them? They captured us, right? Then… suddenly Vlad came in, kidnapped Danny, and… I shook my head, feeling confused as to what happened. Did I accidentally go through different timelines or something?
"Heh… well now my night's complete." A deep, distorted sounding voice came from above me.
I gasped and looked up in alarm, seeing someone on a black and red hoverboard, the hoverboard had two sharp prongs split from near the base of it, allowing the person's feet to comfortable stand on it. The person's suit was black and red, looking more intimidating than a certain red huntress's previous red suit. She wore a helmet that had a red tint glass over her face. Despite the red tint glass, and the weird distorted voice, I could tell it was still Valerie. I guess this must be the new suit and equipment her employer gave to her.
"Honestly, you're the only ghost I will say that it's nice to see," Valerie chuckled as she disabled the voice distortion.
"Wow… you certainly got an upgrade to your suit and hoverboard," I complimented.
"Considering how my last suit and board were destroyed, this is more than just a regular upgrade," Valerie stated. "This is the Red Huntress 2.0 outfit."
I nodded. "I'm just glad you're okay. How've you been? I haven't seen you since the Technus incident."
"I've been doing fine, but why do you look like someone just stabbed you in the back?" Valerie asked in response.
I frowned and looked away for a moment.
"With a really big, really sharp, serrated knife," Valerie added.
"I'm… not sure what happened for the past few days. I saw… Danny… uh… Phantom, getting captured by a powerful ghost. Then I watched as he was getting brainwashed," I explained. "And he was now working for that ghost."
"Past few days?" Valerie raised a brow. "I saw the ghost kid yesterday and he didn't look captured or brainwashed. Hmm… what day is it?"
"I'm… not sure. I think… it was Sunday before all that happened?" I answered.
"What day is it today?" Valerie pointedly questioned.
"How should I know? I just woke up," I grumbled.
"You said you aren't sure what happened the past few days," Valerie pointed out. "Meaning you either are aware that at least 3 days has passed or you feel as though that amount of time has passed."
"I meant few days in a vague term, not 3 days specifically…" I clarified.
"If you had to guess, what day would you think it was from everything you witnessed and how long that would logically take?" Valerie inquired.
I had to think for a moment. It was hard for me to remember what day everything happened and how long it happened. My memories kept jumping back and forth between when Mom and Dad captured us, and we told Mom and Dad we were half ghost, and then Danny and I were facing Vlad before Vlad took Danny away. It felt like a jumbled mess. I was worried that maybe that mind machine Vlad used might've scrambled my brain.
"I think maybe it happened over the course of a week," I finally concluded. "It certainly felt longer than just one or two days."
"Uh huh…" Valerie remarked. "Sorry to break it to you, but it sounds like whatever you thought happened didn't actually happen. It's currently early Monday morning. The ghost kid, Phantom, your brother, was his usual annoying self yesterday. He didn't seem brainwashed or captured or anything of the sort. I only got a glimpse of him, and you were with him at the time heading towards that old opera house."
"Yesterday…?" I blinked, confused. Either Danny managed to create a duplicate to look like me and is a better actor than I thought, or...
"I would know if the ghost kid was out of Amity Park for a week or replaced by a fake," Valerie remarked. "I would have had my new outfit and would have been able to test it on Phantom if he was around for a whole week. Then there is the fact that other ghosts would've stopped showing up to challenge the kid and by extension wouldn't cause trouble to Amity Park. There are a few other reasons, both those are the main two."
"I don't get it. Everything I experienced felt too real to have just been a dream…" I said, still confused. "Did I jump through timelines? Did someone play some kind of elaborate prank on me?"
"Could that glowy trinket hanging around your neck have caused extremely vivid nightmares?" Valerie asked.
I blinked before looking down, seeing something was indeed glowing. I grabbed onto it and lifted it up so I could see it better. It was the watch, the watch that allowed me to see into the future easier. I thought I took this thing off before I went to bed… Is this what gave me those nightmares? Were those nightmares… actually visions?
"It… probably was…" I finally said as my mind realized what likely happened. Oh no, I freaked out on Danny and Hope, they must be worried sick now.
"What is it?" Valerie questioned. "And perhaps you should take it off."
"It's a… well, I don't know if it has a name, but it's some kind of ghostly artifact that gives me… visions, I guess," I answered a little vaguely. "I didn't even know I had it on when I fell asleep."
"If it gave you such horrid nightmares because of it, you should definitely take it off," Valerie stated.
"I will, but those nightmares… may be a warning for something," I said.
"They may, but at the same time they might not be," Valerie responded with a small shrug.
I sighed before I decided to change the subject. "Valerie, if it's already morning, why are you still awake? I mean isn't it a school night?"
Valerie coughed a little at that and turned her head away. "Well… you see… uh… I… haven't been able to sleep because of… how… how…" Valerie mumbled some stuff under her breath that I couldn't hear.
"What was that?" I asked.
"I haven't been able to sleep because of how giddy I've been over getting a new suit and board and gadgets!" Valerie blurted out as she turned back to me with her eyes closed.
I blinked for a moment, trying not to laugh. "Oh… well, I uh… guess that's understandable. Wouldn't your dad be mad at you though?"
"He would kill me if he knew!" Valerie spoke up. "Dad doesn't know that I got a new suit after the old one got destroyed. I'm probably going to have a sleepy day at school, but I'd still say it's worth it. I managed to patrol the town much faster with this cool new hoverboard, and I managed to find you. I haven't been able to speak with you since the Technus incident."
"Why not? I mean you've seen me flying around a lot with Danny Phantom," I asked.
"Because of that specifically," Valerie responded. "You're rarely ever on your own and I'd rather not let my guard down around the ghost kid."
I raised an eyebrow. "You seem to be more at ease talking to me than my brother."
"You saved my life," Valerie reminded. "And you haven't caused any chaos or destruction that you couldn't help."
Neither did Danny… and he has saved your life indirectly multiple times before. I sighed to myself. "Maybe one of these days I could talk to you more about my brother, there are some things that you should know about him. But that's a talk for another time, it'd take all night to go through everything." That and I want to wait until she trusts me more so she doesn't think I'm lying when I explain to her all those misunderstandings that happened with Danny.
"Perhaps the next time you see me, you can split off from your brother and we can talk again," Valerie remarked. "For now though, I'm going to get going."
"Be sure to try to get some sleep tonight," I suggested.
"Just a heads up, I think your brother is coming this way," Valerie stated before she flew off quickly and nearly silently.
I wonder if it's possible to turn Valerie into an ally for ghost fighting instead of a neutral party… I wondered to myself before what she said earlier sunk in. Wait, Danny's heading this way?
Before I could do anything, Danny landed on the tree branch in front of me. A part of me wanted to bolt because of that vivid nightmare I had, but I managed to keep myself from flying away. I did look at Danny cautiously, however, wanting to make absolutely sure he wasn't brainwashed and under Vlad's control.
"Are you okay, bro?!" Danny asked worriedly. "Please, don't fly away again. I'm not here to hurt you or anything."
"What do you think of Vlad?" I asked. "And what do you think of Jack?"
"'Jack'? Why are you calling Dad by his name?" Danny questioned. "And what do I think of the fruit loop? Well he's a crazy fruit loop of course, my opinion on him hasn't changed one bit."
I couldn't help but break down in a heap of relief. So all of that was just a dream after all… perhaps visions of the future, but still, it didn't happen yet, and Danny isn't Vlad's 'son-to-be'. Thank goodness…
I felt someone picking me up from my position.
"You had us all worried." Scarlet grinned as she tossed me towards Danny, who caught me in his arms.
"Oh, you two found him," Juliette said as she flew over with a relieved smile. "Good."
I ended up wrapping my arms around Danny, giving him a hug. "I'm glad… you're still you, Danny…"
"Of course I'm still me, bro," Danny said softly, not letting me go. "You were just having a nightmare."
I looked back at Scarlet and Juliette. "I'm sorry for worrying you all, especially over a nightmare."
"It wasn't just a run of the mill nightmare, was it?" Juliette asked as she raised a brow.
I shook my head before leaning it against Danny's shoulder. "No… it felt far too real to me. I'm not… 100% sure, but it might've been visions of the future I saw, bad futures likely."
Juliette frowned at that. "If it is true you were seeing visions of the future in your sleep then perhaps you need a way to ground yourself and remind yourself that you are back in reality once you awaken…"
"Has this ever happened before?" Scarlet asked.
I was about to say 'no', until I remembered a while back, about those unsettling dreams I've had of the future before. "Yes, it has."
"Really?" Danny blinked, surprised.
"Not quite to this extent, but I've had dreams of the future, or at least warnings of what was going to happen, before," I explained. "But those felt surreal and not vivid. So I knew those were just dreams when I woke up."
"Hmmm… do you think there is anything you could hold or read that would ensure you are awake? Something that would prove that you aren't having one of those extremely vivid vision dreams?" Juliette pondered.
"I'm not sure… it's really hard to tell that you're dreaming if it feels real." I frowned.
"Don't worry, bro, we'll figure something out," Danny assured me. "If it sounds like you're having a nightmare again, Hope and I will try to tell you that you were dreaming, but you have to stay calm and not go flying off like you did earlier."
I nodded. "If I suddenly wake up from whatever was going on, I'll try to remind myself to wait and listen before I do anything."
"So what was your nightmare about? If it's a vision, it might be best to tell us about it in case we need to prepare for the worst," Scarlet suggested.
"I don't remember the first two that clearly, but I know something really bad happened in those," I sighed. "The last one was really vivid though. I think telling Mom and Dad may land us into trouble, as Danny had feared, they took us to the lab, planning to experiment on us. Something… happened that caused the lab to collapse though. The third one is about Vlad capturing Danny, and he… I'm not exactly sure what he did, but I can only assume he permanently brainwashed Danny, changed his personality, his memory, something in his mind, that was evidently irreversible, and he was planning to do the same with me. That's why I took off when I did after waking up."
I felt Danny's hold on me tighten a bit.
Juliette had a thoughtful expression. "Were you in your human or ghost forms when you parents were experimenting on you?"
"For the first dream, we were in our ghost forms. In the second dream, we were human. Though I think in the second dream, Mom and Dad were trying to find a way to get rid of our ghost halves, and they injected Danny with… something, I can't remember what it was, but it looked like it was really hurting him," I explained the best I could from my foggy memory of that particular dream.
"So it sounds like your problem may revolve around them finding out your identities," Scarlet stated.
"That would be the most likely theory by the sound of it," Juliette agreed. "However, the other dream has me the most concerned right now. How would Vlad be able to permanently brainwash Danny like that? Was he using some kind of tool or power?"
Danny gave me a curious and worried look, he also wanted to know, but he kept silent as he held on to me, knowing I was still shaken up by that. I was glad Danny was here and still Danny.
"He used a helmet. I think it was a helmet our parents made, and Vlad tweaked it," I answered. "I don't think it's something our parents made yet as I haven't seen it before, so I don't know all the details on what the helmet supposedly does, but from what I could tell, it does something to a ghost's mind. I think it allows entrance into the ghost's mind, or changes something, perhaps in hopes of turning them good from evil or something like that. My guess is that Vlad tweaked it enough to be able to completely change someone, I don't know if it's just ghosts or halfas specifically, but it seemed to have worked on Danny."
"If it's something Mom and Dad will make, then perhaps we should destroy it when they do make it," Danny suggested. "That or we could try to discourage them from making it."
I nodded in agreement.
"From the sound of things, the helmet is against the 2nd Ghost Taboo," Juliette remarked before she looked at Danny and I. "The 2nd Ghost Taboo is that one should never mess up a ghost's mind against their will as it risks destabilization. If the helmet is capable of rewriting Danny's memories before or after Vlad's tweaks, it's a forbidden item that could land your parents in extreme trouble."
"Taboos?" Danny blinked. "The ghost culture has stuff like that? I mean I knew it had rules, but I always thought those were something Walker made up just to arrest someone."
"No, Walker's laws are actually quite a lot less serious than the taboos," Scarlet informed. "The taboos were created near the beginning of the Ghost Zone's history, before there was even the first Ghost King."
"The taboos are laws that no ghost dares to break as the punishments are always severe," Juliette added. "And due to the way that the Ghost Zone is connected to the living world, the taboos extend to living beings as well. Humans used to keep records of the taboos so they would not 'anger the spectral demons', but those records were unfortunately lost throughout history. Despite the fact that humanity doesn't know about the taboos, ghosts will still enforce them if they catch any human breaking a taboo."
"Wait, does this mean Freakshow broke that 2nd taboo? He used some kind of staff that could mind control ghosts," Danny asked.
"Unfortunately, no, mind control doesn't break the taboo as long as it doesn't cause harm to the ghost itself since a lot of ghosts have the natural ability to mind control others," Scarlet explained.
"Permanently altering the ghost breaks the taboo, however temporarily altering them does not break the taboo," Juliette clarified.
I wonder if Desiree almost broke it since she altered Danny's memories after Sam's wish that time… I thought to myself.
"Now come on, we should get going, it's also a school night for the two of you," Scarlet pointed out.
"After you head home, put that watch in a locked location as it seems to be the cause of your current troubles," Juliette instructed.
I sighed and nodded. I didn't expect the watch to latch onto me in my sleep, so it would be best to keep it locked up at night so it doesn't give me vivid nightmares again.
It was a Monday morning at school, a morning most people despised. I never really had anything against Monday mornings, but today, I couldn't say I liked it. Due to the nightmares I had, I had trouble getting back to sleep, so I felt quite exhausted when we came to school today. Not to mention it was getting hot as summer was coming around. I used to hate how hot it would get, but Danny seem to complain more about the heat than I do lately.
Thankfully I have gotten used to late nights and lack of sleep before school, so I had come prepared. I made sure to drink soda for caffeine, while also pinching myself every once in a while whenever we had a particularly boring class. If Dash was sitting close to me, I requested that he would toss a piece of paper at me if it looked like I was nodding off.
I was relieved when lunch rolled around, it was easier to stay awake when I have a cold drink as well as some decent cafeteria food to eat.
"How's being the school president been so far, Tuck?" Danny asked when all four of us sat down.
"Tough but rewarding…" Tucker smiled tiredly before he pulled out a cupcake and began to eat it.
"I saw that the computer room now have much more highly advanced computers than the old bricks they've been using for years," Sam noted as she started to eat an apple along with her organic salad. "You work fast."
"Are you also going to have the school install a Ghost Shield like Valerie was planning to do?" I asked.
"Most likely, but not immediately," Tucker responded. "I want to work out a deal with your parents so it doesn't cost the school much."
"Good idea, we don't want the school to go over the budget. I wonder if they'll be able to get insurance for ghost attacks, they really need it," Sam remarked.
"Yeah," Danny sighed. "Andy and I try our best to keep the collateral damage to a minimum, but it's pretty much impossible with how ectoblasts can easily damage steel and concrete."
"Valerie and I were talking and it would be a bit expensive to get any kind of ghost insurance with how frequently the school gets attacked," Tucker informed. "As for the budget, we haven't used all that much of it. With Sam's help, I was able to make a deal with one of her parents' technology companies to overhaul the electronic systems in our school for like a fifth of the price. Not just the computers got changed out, but the wires, monitors, projectors, camera systems, and everything else electronic."
"That's awesome, Tuck, you're already improving the school even though you've only been in office for a little bit." I smiled.
"Yup, a good president gets things done, not lay back and procrastinate," Tucker answered proudly.
"Maybe you should take your own advice when it comes to homework," Sam chuckled, which made Tucker deflate a little.
"Oh come on, Sam, I meant for stuff that actually matters," Tucker grumbled. "Besides, summer vacation is coming up, so I want to be able to get as much done as possible before school is out for a month or two."
"Speaking of summer vacation, our family is planning to do a cross country road trip this year," I spoke up. "Mom, Dad, and Jazz were talking about it, well mostly Mom suggested it since she thinks we haven't spent enough time as a family together."
Danny gave an excited smile. "I'm looking forward to going to Florida, they have a tourism for their space center going on all summer."
"You're going across the country?" Sam raised a brow.
"Yup, Mom said it would be good for us to see more of the country we live in," I answered. "I'm a bit surprised that she and Dad are willing to spend the entire summer going around the country instead of looking for new ways to hunt ghosts. I would've expected Jazz to suggest something like this."
"Why didn't she?" Tucker asked.
"She's doing some kind of college application thesis," I said. "Or that's what she told me anyways."
"Even though she's not going to college yet for another year," Danny chuckled.
"Can I come?" Tucker questioned with a smile. "I'd love to travel across the country for vacation. Oh! Are you guys planning on going to California at all?"
"It would be cool to have one of our best friends to come, and why California?" Danny asked.
"There's going to be a comic convention for Sci-Fi and Fantasy fans held at San Diego, and I want to go there myself," Tucker answered.
Sam perked up. "If you're going to be going to California from Florida, does that mean you will be passing through Nevada?"
"What's at the Nevada?" I asked.
Sam smirked before she pulled out a piece of paper and slapped it down on the table. The paper was a flier, and it was dark purple with two red eyes at the top to look intimidating, or maybe just dark and edgy. Written in bright green letters were 'Gothapalooza' and 'The Nevada Desert'.
"I, for one, would not want to miss this," Sam remarked.
"But there's no way your parents would let you go, especially if it's with the 'irresponsible Fentons'," I pointed out. "We may have gotten on their good side the last time we saw them, but they still don't really approve of us."
"Don't worry, bro, I'm sure we can get them to change their minds. We just have to handle it like mature adults," Danny assured.
I noticed that mischievous gleam in Danny's eyes, and 'handling it like mature adults' wasn't what my brother had in mind. "Whatever it is you're thinking of, no."
"Awww, come on, bro," Danny whined.
"No means no, Danny," I huffed.
"Don't worry, I know how to handle them. I don't have to show them this flier~" Sam smirked. "I could tell them that I want to experience the world a bit more and drop hints that it may 'help me out of my goth phase'."
"If it works, then all four of us will get to go on this cross country trip." Danny smiled. "This is going to be so exciting!"
"Is there anything you wanted to see in particular on this trip, Andy?" Tucker asked me curiously.
"I'd like to go to New Orleans and experience the unique music and cuisine they have down there," I answered.
"Really? I didn't take you for a music or cuisine type person," Sam stated in surprise.
"I'm in this for the new experience," I explained. "New Orleans is a culmination of multiple different cultures and I want to see how they coexist with each other."
"Heh, that certainly sounds interesting. I have a greenhouse that have different types of plants from different countries myself," Sam said proudly.
Tucker raised a brow at that. "You're into gardening?"
"I've always been interested, I'm just glad my parents allow me to have the greenhouse, it's one of the few things they approve of me doing," Sam answered.
"That just seems… so… not goth," Tucker remarked.
"Not everything I do has to be goth, Tucker," Sam rolled her eyes. "I'm also an environmentalist. I'm just not as extreme as some of the more… reputed ones are."
Tucker was about to say something when Sam beat him to it. "No, the food war we had at the beginning of the school year doesn't count."
Danny and I chuckled.
"We'll have to ask our parents about you two coming along, but they shouldn't have a problem with it," Danny remarked.
"Sounds great, I just hope I'll be able to convince my parents," Sam sighed.
"But first… we'll have to survive the dreaded finals before we get our summer vacation," I groaned. "As if we don't study enough all year long in school…"

Jewel moonstone: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Yeah, that nightmare will definitely haunt Andy for a while. It was incredibly fun to write though. Let me see… what is my favorite treat? I am actually having a hard time deciding as I like so many. From my mom, I would have to say her banana cake. From my late grandma on my dad's side, it would be something that she made for me and my family all the time when I was younger. I forget the spelling of the actual name, however I do remember it as being a length of dough tied into a knot then covered with a thick molasses like substance.
DarkFoxKit: What's my favorite treat? I… don't really know. It depends on my mood at the time. I like hershey's chocolate bar. *Shrugs*
Anime lover 3593: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Glad you enjoyed the nightmare for Andy, it was a blast to write it. And yeah, his nightmare was so vivid and things coincided perfectly that it was hard to distinguish what was reality. Sometimes people wake up from their nightmares, but their nightmares were so real and detailed that they think they might still be in it.
We'll be getting to Kindred Spirits at the right time, we don't want to rush anything and we want to put the episodes in order of how they work best for us.
DarkFoxKit: The nightmares are other fanfics I've seen, about how it usually goes down whenever Danny reveals himself to his parents or if they caught him. I thought it'd be interesting to use that for nightmares or potential bad futures. And no, Kindred Spirits is not the next episode, Reality Trip is, then Double Cross My Heart, and then it's Kindred Spirits, the last episode of season 2.
Mana: DarkFoxKit: Well, not every reveal-fic, just the ones I found interesting to use. I wanted to use some of them, but of course I couldn't use them all, so I made them into nightmares or possible bad future visions for Andy. Onyx and I do have something planned for when their identities do get revealed eventually though.
The Observants are likely to try to capture Andy and either brainwash him to make him one of their own or try to destroy him altogether. I'm not entirely sure what the Observants' roles are, but from what I could guess, and the headcanons I see from other fics like Checkmate or Mortified, which are really great DP fics by the way, the Observants seem to have a responsibility with watching the world as it develops in time. But they're not allowed to interfere, so if they feel they must do something, they get other ghosts, like Clockwork to do the dirty work for them. It is a shame that Danny never had a real encounter with the Observants, that one line he said 'And Vortex is back with the Observants' made me stop for a moment, and was like, 'wait, you know about the Observants?'
Right, I forgot about that one line Elliot said about Michigan. I could say he did move from there, but he had been in Casper High for a good amount of time to at least know who the girls are in the school to be interested in Sam and learn what she may like. I mean if he's trying to play the role of someone who just moved to Amity Park, of course he has to be shocked about the ghosts, but he didn't seem super shocked or terrified, he just seemed mildly surprised, so that already tells me he already knew about the ghosts.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Your idea for the Amazons are definitely an option. It would be interesting to do, it reminds me of the Daughters of Artemis from Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I do think it would be quite interesting to do with Juliette and Scarlet. Can't say we'll 100% do it, but it'll definitely be noted somewhere and we may use it later.
DarkFoxKit: I don't know too much about Amazons, just that they're giant women who don't like men very much. But we may add in Amazons, or some form of them, eventually, we'll see.
Raidentensho: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': You know what they say about assuming~ Ooh, I do find that idea of changing Andy's ecto-ray to match his eye colors to be an interesting one. I had thought, at one point, that the glowing eye color was Danny's energy color and hence why he had green ecto-rays. However, for now I think we'll be sticking with the standard green for Andy. I sadly can't answer any of those questions because spoilers, I just hope that what we do doesn't disappoint.
DarkFoxKit: No, the nightmares had nothing to do with Nocturne, that was all Andy.
haloguardian452: DarkFoxKit: Onyx and I have something planned for when their parents find out, but it will happen eventually.
Luna Lillyth: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Glad you enjoyed it. The nightmares were incredibly fun to write, even if Andy does still hold a little bit of a grudge against us for making him have those nightmares.
Andy: *Is grumbling from nearby* Stupid vivid nightmares…
DarkFoxKit: *Is totally not using other fics as inspirations for these nightmares* Hehehe… *Shifts eyes*
