Eijiro: Canon

Ochako: Canon

'Whew, that about does it.' Ochako Uraraka mentally told herself as she sat on her newly assembled futon. She had spent the last two days unpacking her stuff into her new apartment. A few months ago, the brunette didn't think she'd be moving to Mustafau so soon. The original plan was to wait until she passed the entrance exam for U.A. University, then move. But the cheapest offer her parents could find would've been gone by then, so the Urarakas really had no choice but to act. Which also meant that Ochako would be finishing her last year of high school in another city...and that she needed to make damn sure she passed the upcoming entrance exam.

Ochako looked down, and pouted a bit as she saw the modest layer of stomach fat on her exposed tummy (she was currently relaxing in a pink t-shirt and black sweatpants, and the position was causing her shirt to ride up a bit). She always knew she was a bit on the heavier side. Enough boys at her old school had called her dummy thicc to prove that.

'If I want to pass the exam, I gotta get in shape!' Ochako thought to herself with determination. Remembering the new track suit that Momma had bought her, she figured an easy way to do just that would be to start jogging tomorrow morning. After all, in Ochako's head, it was just slower running, so she should be fine.

The Next Day…

'This was a mistake!' Ochako was wrong. She was so wrong about jogging. The brunette had decided to jog around the nearby park. And despite the cool winter weather, she was already feeling sweaty. 'Why do people run in these?!'

The brown-eyed high schooler stopped to catch her breath before she continued her jog...or rather, her attempted jog. But while she was resting her hands on her knees, Ochako heard something that sounded like something hitting wood and a male voice grunting. Out of curiosity, she looked past the trail and saw the source of the noise:

It was a teenage boy (Ochako figured he might be around her age) with black hair and red eyes was punching part of a tree wrapping in cloth. She noticed he was rather fit, with his sleeveless red shirt showing off his toned arms, complemented by his black & red sweat pants. Ochako was confused on why he was punching a tree, but figured he must've been some martial art enthusiast, and this was part of her training.

The soft-cheeked brunette decided to continue her own training, and went around for another lap. But when she finished up her second lap, Ochako was absolutely swimming in it, wobbling around with hitched breath. And unfortunately, today was not her day, and she ended up falling off the path and into the bushes with a thud. "Dagnabbit."

"Hey, you okay?" The tired Ochako looked up and saw the boy from earlier, now with a towel around his shoulders and looking down at her in concern.

"Oh hey, tree punch guy." Ochako said, making the black-haired teen raise an eyebrow. "Can you help me up? My legs feel all noddly."

"Sure thing." The red-eyed young man grabbed her hand and helped her stand up...only for her to fall flat on her ass, tired and sweating like crazy. "Let me guess; this is your first time jogging."

"How can you tell?"

"Well, you're all sweaty, you're way too out of breath, and you don't look like you have anything to hydrate yourself with." The boy said as he walked away for a moment. Ochako saw that he actually had a mini-cooler next to the tree. He quickly returned and handed her a water bottle. "Here."

Ochako took the water bottle, unscrewed the top and took a big gulp. "Why is exercise so hard?"

"Hey, that's what makes it exciting! Pushing yourself to your limit, practing your moves until your limbs ache, and coming out in even stronger than you started!" The blackette boy said with a sudden burst of excitement. "Hell, after this, I'm heading home to pump some weight."

'Well, he's definitely passionate.' Ochako thought, finishing up her drink and getting the feeling back in her legs. "Well, I think I'm gonna head home. Thanks for the drink...um…"

"Kirishima." He said as he held his hand out. "Eijiro Kirishima."

"Thanks, Kirishima." Ochako said as she shook his hand, making sure to leave her pinky out. "I'm Ochako Uraraka."

"No problem. Good luck on your way back!" Eijiro said before he went back to punching the tree, all while Ochako began the tired saunter back to her apartment.

The next day, Eijiro continued his daily routine. After school, he went home to get changed, grabbed his gear and mini-cooler, and headed back to the park. And once more, he practiced his punching against the tree. An hour into his training, and he heard the familiar sound of heavy panting, turning his head to see a familiar face.

"Hey, Uraraka!" Eijiro said with a hand wave.

"Oh...hey...um, Kirishima, right?" The tired girl asked, waving back before attempting to jog another lap before giving up.

And for the next week, it continued like that; with Ochako ending most days feeling too tired to do anything else, and seeing Eijiro hard at work with his training, offering a friendly wave whenever they saw each other. By the end of the week, when Eijiro saw Ochako face-plant into the bushes once more, he decided to ask her a burning question that was in his head.

"Uraraka, can I ask you something?"

"Sure." The brunette said as she sat back up.

"Why are you so determined to exercise if you clearly hate it?"

"Well, I'm actually trying to get into U.A." Ochako explained. "I heard it has one of the toughest entrance exams in the country. And I'm not exactly in the best shape." The brunette then thought about her current living situation, and how much her parents were doing for her, a determined expression appearing on her face. "I need to pass the entrance exam! Failure is not an option."

Eijiro wasn't expecting that level of determination for her, but was pleasantly surprised. "That's the spirit, Uraraka. If either of us want to get into U.A., we gotta give it our all!"

"You're applying to U.A. too?" Ochako asked, getting an enthusiastic nod in return. "What course?"

"The hero course, duh."

The brunette looked over the black-haired teen. He was obviously in shape, and clearly knew what he was doing. Especially compared to her, who got extremely tired after some light jogging.

"Please help me, Kirishima!" Ochako said with comical tears as she wrapped her arms around his leg, surprising the red-eyed boy.

"Huh?!"

"Please! I have no idea what I'm doing! Please, please, please help me!" The brunette begged, looking up at Eijiro.

Dammit, Eijiro thought. He would be happy to help, but even still, saying no to her squishy cheeks and big brown eyes felt like saying no to a puppy.

"Sure, I'd be happy to help ya out."

"Really?" Ochako asked, getting a nod in return. The brunette quickly stood up and shook one of his hands with both hers. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"No prob...whuh?" Eijiro said as he suddenly found himself floating. Ochako realized what was going on, quickly letting go of him and tapping her finger tips together, letting him land back on the grass.

"Sorry about that." The now-embarrassed brunette said as she showed her fingers and the small pads on each finger tip. "That was my quirk."

"Hey, it's cool." Eijiro said with a chuckle. After discussing it, the two decided to exchange cell phone numbers so they could chat later about what Ochako's exercise plan should be. And that night, both Ochako and Eijiro went home feeling happy that they both made a new friend. Ochako was glad to have found someone who was nice enough to try and help her out. And Eijiro was happy to have someone to workout with.

But neither U.A. hopeful knew that this was just the start of their relationship. Nor did either of them know just how close the two of them would truly get over the next few months.

So not exactly a 'love-at-first-sight' romance, but I think it fits both Ochako and Eijiro as characters in that their relationship starts more friendly and casual before they catch feelings for each other. I've also decided to go the U.A. University route, since I do plan on having some lemons later down the line.

Have a safe and pleasant day!
