Eijiro: Nio
Ochako: Kristine
Before Ochako and Eijiro knew it, Spring and Summer had passed, both of them had graduated high school, and the entrance exam was a few days away. And in that time, things had certainly changed for the two, both physically and mentally. They had spent so much time with each other, and now knew each other more than any other person outside of their immediate family that they could easily consider each other their best friend...even if on the inside the two of them wished they were more than that.
During their training, Eijiro and Ochako continued to build their bodies at the Silverman Gym, with Ochako reorganizing her budget to accommodate for the 880 yen a month membership. The hardening boy and the gravity girl each put on another thirty pounds of muscle onto their bodies through determination, and some advice from Sakura and Johnny.
But it wasn't just their muscles they were improving on. The muscular duo had also been working on their fighting styles. Eijiro had been studying some boxing videos online, in particular, the slugger-style boxing that focused on strong and powerful punches. Which made it a perfect complement to his Hardening Quirk. He wouldn't call himself a pro, but at least he knew the proper form for throwing a good punch.
Ochako had also been slowly developing her own fighting style that incorporated her quirk, which she dubbed 'Zero-G Style'. It basically consisted of her negating an objects' gravity and then punching/kicking it at her opponent. And since the discovery that the weight limit Ochako's quirk could endure without her vomiting was tied directly to her physical strength, the brunette could now float several huge boulders at once and only felt queasy after an hour of floating them.
Both of them were excited about the improvements they had gained, and felt they were ready for the entrance exam...but there was also a big, unspoken elephant in the room. And that was their growing attraction to each other, both romantically and physically.
Ever since the day they shared their reasons for wanting to become heroes with each other, Ochako and Eijiro had been falling for each other hard and fiercely. Over the last few months, they had learned little things about each other that made them fall even harder. Eijiro learned that the pads on Ochako's fingers were similar to the paws of a cat or a dog, and often playfully teased her about it. Ochako had a good chuckle when she learned that Eijiro's sharp teeth made him go through toothbrushes like coffee filters. They had gone to the movies together, found their preferred hangouts, and spent plenty of free days just chilling at Ochako's apartment.
But why had they not confessed to each other? The answer was simple; U.A. The upcoming entrance exam would determine the rest of their lives, and with both Eijiro and Ochako being stubbornly determined to pass, they both figured that romance would not only distract them from their goal, but also their friend. It didn't help that both figured their crush was one-sided, and that the other wasn't interested at all.
Though, that didn't stop their minds from wandering, conjuring up dreams and fantasies of romance. Also not helping was the fact that everyone they knew assumed they were dating until they clarified it. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone.
Ochako's parents when they visited during the end of spring…
"So he spends almost every weekend here...you two are constantly hanging out...and you're sure you're not dating?" Mrs. Uraraka asked.
"Yes, Mom, I'm sure!" Ochako said with a pout while her Dad and Eijiro talked about famous boxers.
...Eijiro's family when he invited Ochako for dinner…
"So you must be Uraraka. Eiji's told me a lot about you." Eijiro's mother said with a smile, making Ochako feel a bit bashful while Takuma, Eijiro's older brother, looked at the brunette before looking at the sharp-toothed young man.
"She's way out of your league."
"The hell is that supposed to mean?!" Eijiro shouted.
...and whenever they went somewhere to eat together, the staff and employees just assumed they were a couple. Hell, even some of Eijiro's old buddies from junior high thought the two were dating. It was probably a good thing for both parties involved that Ochako spent a week visiting her parents during June, so that maybe people would stop thinking the two were inseparable...and it resulted in both Eijiro and Ochako missing the other.
And that was just the emotional stuff they were dealing with. The physical side of things was another matter.
"186...187...188…" Ochako counted to herself, bench pressing two hundred pounds while Sakura spotted her.
"Come on, Uraraka! You can do it!" The gym owner shouted with encouragement. As the familiar rush of pumping her muscles filled her body, the brunette's eyes wandered to see the sight of Eijiro doing a set of bicep curls. While he wasn't overly massive like some of the older gym-goers, Ochako could say Eijiro was one of the buffest boys she had ever laid eyes on. His legs were solid & thick, his large pecs were visible through his muscle t-shirt, and powerful arms that would probably feel nice wrapped around her hips as she rode him like a stalli-
'No! Bad Ochako! Focus on the workout!' Ochako mentally chastised herself before re-focusing on bench-pressing. "...189...190...191…"
But Eijiro was also sneaking glances at his crush. And there were times where Ochako was simultaneously the cutest girl he had ever seen, and also the sexiest thanks to her amazing musculature. Veins appeared on her biceps as pumped iron, sweat was rolling down her six-pack abs, and powerful thighs held up a strong back that would look amazing as he mounted her from behi-
'Dammit, stop it brain!' Eijiro said as he shook his head to clear the dirty thoughts. 'Don't focus on that. Ochako doesn't need anyone perving on her. Or at least, not any more guys perving on her."
Out of the corner of his eye, the black-haired young man saw a trio of dudes checking out Ochako, staring right at her breasts as her sweat-coated shirt clung to them. Eijiro scowled and was about to say something, but then…
"GAWK ON YOUR TIME, YOU SCRAWNY, DROOL-COATED WEASELS!" Johnny shouted at the three through a megaphone, startling them. "Don't forget; for the next two hours, your asses are mine! Now hit the treadmills!"
So as it turned out, Johnny's real job at the Silverman Gym was a unique kind of 'motivator.' While they had never really hung out, Eijiro and Ochako did consider themselves as acquaintances with the half-american, half-japanese young man. Hell, according to Sakura, he was also planning on applying for U.A., which honestly surprised the two. And even more surprising was the fact that he was aiming for the support course.
Later that week, the eve before the entrance exam, Eijiro was doing some studying for the written portion of U.A.'s entrance exam. But he was taken out of his focus when he heard his cellphone vibrate, and saw that he got a text from Ochako.
Ochako: Hey, Eiji. What're you doing?
Eijiro: Studying for the written test.
Ochako: Oh, I should probably do that too.
Ochako: Hey, are you nervous about tomorrow?
Eijiro: A little bit. But I know we're both gonna do great!
Ochako: You're right! Let's do our best!
Eijiro: That's the spirit!
Ochako: Eijiro, you have no idea how much I appreciate all you've done for me. I don't think I'd be this confident about the exam without your help.
Eijiro: No problem. I've been happy to help ya. And we get into U.A., I'll still be up for helping ya.
Ochako: Thank you.
Eijiro noticed that the brunette was typing the next message for a bit, but it just showed two words.
Ochako: Good night!
Eijiro: Night, Ochako.
The red-eyed young man smiled as he thought about his best friend/crush. And now, he was more determined to ace the exam!
But inside of Ochako's apartment, the beefy brunette had a huge blush on her face! She had almost texted, "I love you" to Eijiro. And it had almost happened naturally! This crush of hers was growing out of control.
'What is wrong with me?' Ochako thought to herself, even though deep down, she already knew the answer. And her crush was getting worse, especially since whenever she saw some other girls attempting to flirt with Eijiro at the gym, the brunette felt angry enough to bend the equipment she was using with her bare hands (not that she actually could). And it was at that moment that the buff brunette came to a decision;
If...no, when the two passed the exam and were accepted into U.A., Ochako would tell Eijiro how she felt. And if he rejected her...well, she'd be sad for a bit, but it was better than silently pining after him forever.
The Next Day…
To say that Ochako and Eijiro were in awe was an understatement. After months of training, they were now standing at the gates of the prestigious U.A. University. Just two applicants in a sea of young people all aiming to be heroes. They had only seen the H-shaped building in pictures online, but it was something else to be there on purpose. The buff duo both took a breath to calm themselves.
"Alright, let's do this!" Eijiro shouted with enthusiasm.
"Right!" Ochako replied as the two headed past the gate. As they walked towards the main building, the gravity-defying brunette just took all of it. The crowd of students whose quirks gave them a distinguished look, the statues of famous graduates, the green-haired guy in front of them about to face-plant onto the ground...wait, what?
Acting on instinct, Ochako rushed forward and tapped the tripped greenette with both hands, negating his gravity and causing him to float.
"Now that was a close call." Ochako said to the surprised young man as she helped him back upright. "And release."
With a tap of her fingertips, the greenette's gravity returned to him. "There we go."
"You should be more careful, dude." Eijiro said.
"R-Right." The greenette stuttered out before turning to Ochako. "Wait, did you just use your quirk on me?"
"Yup. Sorry I didn't ask you but-"
"That's so cool!" The freckled young man suddenly exclaimed, surprising the duo. "What was that? Telekinesis? Magnetism? Gravity Control?"
"Um...gravity control." Ochako answered.
"I figured. But how does it work? Is it a mental command, do you have to make a gesture…" The greenette's speech turned into mumbles as he got lost in his own thoughts, leaving Ochako and Eijiro bewildered.
"Um…are you okay?" The brunette asked. This caused the green-haired boy to snap out of his mumbling and his face to brighten like a cheery.
"S-sorry about that. I get kind of excited whenever I see an interesting quirk."
'Kind of?' The muscular duo thought to themselves.
"Oh, I didn't even introduce myself." He said while holding out his hand. "My name's Izuku Midoriya."
"Nice to meet ya. I'm Ochako Uraraka." The brunette said, holding her pinky out as she shook the freckled guy's hand.
"Eijiro Kirishima." The red-eyed young man said as he shook hands with the greenette. "Good luck with the test, Midoriya."
"Try not to trip on anything else." Ochako joked as she and Eijiro continued to walk towards the building, earning an embarrassed chuckle from the greenette.
"I'll try my best." Izuku said before he too headed towards U.A.'s main building.
An hour later, the examinees were finished with the written exam, and were brought into the school's main auditorium. Ochako and Eijiro sat next to each other as a man with wild yellow hair resembling a cockatoo walked up to the podium.
"Hey, hey, hey, young listeners! Congrats on finishing the written exam!" The loud and excitable man exclaimed. "But now, we're getting to the main event! Can I get a hell yeah?!"
"Hell yeah!" Eijiro, Ochako, and a handful of students cheered, while almost everyone else remained awkwardly quiet.
"Tch, you kids need to have more spirit." The blond man replied. "Anyway, the name's Present Mic, and I'll be your proctor for the physical exam. So here's the lowdown."
The blond pro-hero pressed a button on a remote, the screen behind him showing a pixelated version of him running through a cityscape with a bunch of robots roaming around.
"The scenario is a bunch of robot villains are roaming around the city and causing havoc. As heroes, your job is to take them down. In the packets you received when you came in, you'll see that there are three different robo-villians, each worth a different set of points. And the higher your score, the better your chances of getting into the Hero Course are. Basically, this test will determine whether or not you kids got the physical fortitude and skill that hero work demands."
"Excuse me? Mr. Mic!" One of the examinees in one of the lower front row said as he stood up with his hand raised. He was a tall & muscular young man with short blue hair.
"Yes, the young man with the square chin and glasses!"
"Thank you, I...square chin?" The bespectacled examinee said as he rubbed his chin, earning a few chuckles from a few people in the audience. "Anyway, I noticed that there is a fourth type of robotic villain in the packet explaining the points. If this was a typo, then it reflects poorly on U.A. 's reputation as the top hero university."
He then turned towards one of the higher rows. "And you, with the green hair!"
"Huh, m-me?" Eijiro and Ochako recognized the voice belonging to Midoriya.
"You've been mumbling for the last few minutes. If you can't take this exam seriously, then you shouldn't be here."
"Hey!" The greenette said as he stood up. But before they could say anything else, an ear-piercing whistle stopped them, courtesy of Present Mic.
"Now, now, boys. Save that energy for the exam." The blond pro said as he spoke to the audience once more. "Here's the deal; the fourth enemy type is worth zero points. Think of them more like an obstacle or an environmental hazard. And that's about all you listeners need to know. And as a great man once said, 'Heroism is not only in the man, but in the occasion.' And you guys gotta rise to that occasion and go beyond your limits! As our school motto says…"
Present Mic then pressed another button, showing two english words on the screen that he repeated. "...PLUS ULTRA!"
A few moments later, the examinees were allowed to change in the locker rooms and then head towards one of the two designated cityscape arenas that were part of U.A.'s absurdly huge campus grounds. And unlucky for Eijiro and Ochako, they were assigned to the same grounds.
"Damn! U.A. really goes all out for everything, don't they?" Eijiro said, now clad in a pair of black sweatpants, sneakers, and a dark red Crimson Riot shirt.
"Could you imagine if people actually lived in these buildings? Their lives would probably suck." Ochako chimed in, now clad in her black & pink tracksuit with her sleeves rolled up to her elbows. The two were talking about random stuff to calm their nerves.
But suddenly, the alarms blared and the gates opened.
"Well, what are you guys waiting for?!" Everyone looked up to see Present Mic standing on top of the gate. "Come on, there's no starting countdown in real life! SO GET A MOVE ON!"
With that, a sea of young adults rushed into the cityscape, ready to tear some robot villains up. Eijiro and Ochako ended up getting separated in the chaos, but they were both determined to do their best.
Ochako saw her first robot, one with elongated claws swinging its dull blades around, indicating it to be a two-pointer. And she saw that there were two other robots nearby too.
With stamina gained from months of jogging, Ochako rushed ahead and ducked under the two-pointer's claw arm. She quickly placed all ten fingers on its torso, causing it to helplessly float. And Ochako was quick to run towards the other two robots and do the same to them. And when they were high enough, Ochako released her quirk, causing the three robots to crash onto the street and break into pieces.
"Alright!" A year ago, floating three robots bigger than her at the same time would've made Ochako feel tired. But her Strength and Stamina training really paid off. Ochako saw more robots and examinees in the distance, and was feeling amped up. "Three down, a buttload more to go!"
Meanwhile, Eijiro spotted his first target and charged ahead, letting out a hot-blooded yell as he did so. The One-Pointer threw a punch at him, but Eijiro hardened his left arm and deflected the metallic limb.
"Take this!" Eijiro shouted before delivering a powerful uppercut that sent the robot's head flying. He then moved to attack four more robots, the other examinees watching as he tore through them like a human boulder. Eijiro then rushed to attack another robot, but suddenly, an electrified projectile shot through the robot's head, instantly shutting it down.
"Ah, shit. Sorry, dude!" Eijiro turned and saw a guy with electric yellow hair and goggles said from across the street. "Didn't mean to kill steal like that."
"It's cool. They're plenty of robots to go around." Eijiro replied, not really bothered.
"Ok. Good luck, my guy!" The blond said as pulled some coins out of his pockets and ran in another direction.
"AAAGH!" Eijiro turned and saw what looked like a floating jumpsuit running away from a one-point robot. Ochako saw this too and grabbed the nearest robot next to her. And with its gravity negated, the gravity girl began to spin it around, gaining more and more momentum.
"ZERO-G TOSS!" Ochako shouted before tossing the robot at the other robot, sending the two smashing into the nearby building. Eijiro saw this and smiled as he saw Ochako approaching the floating clothing.
"You okay?" Ochako asked.
"Yah. These things are more alert than I thought they were." The invisible young woman said. But the two failed to notice another robot turning the corner. However, before it could attack them, Eijiro charged ahead with a loud yell, punching a hole right through its chest.
"HOLY SHIT!"
"Nice save, Eijiro!" Ochako said as her crush dislodged his arm from the robot.
"No problem." Eijiro said with a smile. The three then noticed more robots surrounding them. "Hey, Ochako, let's make this interesting; whoever beats the most robots buys lunch."
"Oh, you're on!" Ochako exclaimed with a competitive smile as the two stood back-to-back while the invisible girl hightailed it out of there.
Meanwhile…
"Well, we certainly have quite the energetic crop of applicants this year." The anthropomorphic rat/bear/mouse that was U.A. Principal Nezu commented as he and the other teachers watched the practical exam from within the control room. And they were inclined to agree with him, as there were a lot of promising students taking this exam, all of them with unique skills and quirks.
There was an orange-haired girl smashing robots with her giant hands, a blonde young man blasting robots with his naval laser, a frog girl using her amazing agility, and even a short purple boy was stopping robots with a barrage of sticky balls. Suffice to say, the teachers were watching and observing earnestly.
One of these teachers was a behemoth of a man with big muscles, a black & red costume (with a matching mask), and short white hair. Adding to his intimidating presence was his piercing red eyes and single snaggletooth, putting him in direct contrast with the skinny, black-haired man next to him.
"That's the quirkless kid you and Nezu have been training, right?" The white-haired man asked as the two saw footage of Izuku flipping over a robot, landing behind it, and then quickly hitting the off switch.
"Correct." The tired man answered.
"Indeed he is, Vlad." Nezu answered. "And despite his lack of a quirk, young Midoriya is abundant with hidden potential."
"We'll see about that." Vlad said as he continued to watch the exam. But his attention was drawn to a certain duo fighting back-to-back. The black-haired boy was blocking attacks meant for the brunette before countering while the brunette used a combination of grabbing and tossing to defeat the robots alongside her gravity quirk. And the duo seemed incredibly familiar with each other's techniques and movements, as demonstrated by the boy kicking a robot into one that the girl was swinging around. "Are we sure we separated the kids by schools?"
"Same as we do every year. Why?" Nezu asked.
"Examinees #368 and #475 are working incredibly well together." Vlad commented. "That kind of comradery doesn't just happen in an instant."
Nezu looked over the files. "It says that the two went to different high schools. But you can never account for extra-curricular friendships."
"I guess you're right." Vlad said as he continued to watch. And speaking of watching, a near-skeletal blond man in a yellow business suit was paying close attention to a younger blond man with electricity flowing around him.
'Good luck, young Kaminari.' He thought to himself before his eyes moved towards a big button marked ZERO. 'You and the others are going to need it.'
Back with Ochako and Eijiro, they were just finishing up, with Eijiro punching through another robot's chest and Ochako Zero-G Drop Kicking another robot into a building.
"Alright, that's 14!" Ochako said with glee.
"Thirteen for me." Eijiro said. But then, the muscular duo and everyone else soon felt the ground shaking. Ochako looked up, and her eyes widened to comical size.
"E-Eijiro!" The brunette shouted in fear as she pointed up. Eijiro looked in that direction and went pale at what he saw.
"HOLY FUCKING SHIT!"
Towering over the buildings was a massive green robot. While its shape and silhouette made it clear it had the same design features as the other robots, its colossal size made it a towering, mechanical nightmare. The giant robot swung its arm at the nearby building, smashing it and sending debris flying everywhere.
Thinking quickly, Ochako grabbed Eijiro with all five fingers while tapping her thigh with her other hand. And by pushing her feet against the concrete, the two flew away from the oncoming rubble, landing back on the street safely as Ochako cancelled her quirk.
"Is that the Zero Point robot?!" Ochako shouted, recognizing the silhouette from Present Mic's presentation. "This is nuts!"
"Seriously! That's an obstacle?!" Eijiro exclaimed. The two were about to turn the other way along with the rest of the retreating examinees. But then…
"SOMEONE HELP!"
The duo looked forward and saw a young man with a black bird head trapped in the rubble, while a living shadow with a similar bird head and glowing yellow eyes was trying to lift the piece of building off of him, all while the Zero-Pointer slowly moved towards him. "SOMEONE, ANYONE! HELP MY MASTER!"
Ochako and Eijiro were unsure of what to do. There was no way they could take the colossal zero-pointer down, and it wasn't worth any points. And there was no way U.A. would end up killing someone during the exam. Right?
But as the two were frozen with uncertainty, something green ran past them and towards the downed examinee. Someone that Ochako and Eijiro recognized.
"Midoriya?!" Indeed, the green-haired young man, now dressed in a green & white tracksuit, was running towards the entrapped bird-headed man. Acting quickly, Midoriya grabbed a nearby pipe and inserted it into the crack of the rubble.
"Hang on! I'll get you out of here!" Izuku shouted, before groaning as he attempted to use leverage to lift the piece of rubble. And at that moment, both Eijiro and Ochako felt ashamed. Eijiro mentally cursed himself for freezing up again, and Ochako chastised herself for even thinking of abandoning someone in need, exam or not. And so, the two ran ahead, ready to assist Midoriya in saving the bird boy.
"I'll buy you some time! You help Midoriya!"
"Right!" Ochako replied as Eijiro leaped over the rubble and headed towards the robot. Ochako quickly placed her hands on the rubble, causing it to float and free the bird man.
"Thanks, Uraraka!" Midoriya said with a smile.
"What greenie said!" The shadow said before retreating into the groaning birdman.
"Can you walk?" Ochako asked.
"I-I'm afraid not. I believe my foot might be broken."
"Got it!" The brunette said as she quickly picked him up carefully into a bridal carry. At the same time, Eijiro leaped into the air, flying towards the Zero-Pointer's shin with his right arm hardened.
"Eat this!" Eijiro shouted before throwing a punch, leaving a dent in the metal plating. This temporary imbalance caused the Zero-Pointer to trip and crash into a nearby building. But the giant robot quickly got back up, and Eijiro's eyes widened in fear as the mechanical menace stared down at him. Ochako saw the Zero-Pointer begin to rear its arm back, and quickly saw a car-sized piece of rubble.
"Midoriya, can you hold up this guy?"
"U-Um, yes!" Midoriya said, taken aback by the serious look in the brunette's eyes. Ochako quickly handed the birdman to the greenette, Midoriya standing him up and placing his arm around his shoulders. Ochako quickly grabbed the piece of rubble with both hands and began to spin to gain momentum.
"ZERO-G SPIN TOSS!" With a yell at the top of her lungs, Ochako tossed the large piece of rubble into the air, causing it to smash into the robot's head, temporarily disabling it. The brunette rushed towards Eijiro.
"Are you okay?"
"Y-Ya." The blackette replied, regaining his nerves as the two looked up at the robot as it got back up. But before it could attack, two electrified projectiles shot through its left shoulder.
"HEY, METAL DICK!" The robot, as well as Eijiro and Ochako turned towards the nearby intersection. And to Eijiro's surprise, it was the blond guy from earlier, holding a coin in each hand. "CHOKE ON THIS!"
Electricity flowed around his hands, attracted to the metal coins. With a flick of his fingers, the two coins flew through the air like high-powered bullets, shooting right through the Zero-Pointer's waist. This display of defiance caused the other examinees to stop and watch his David and Goliath-like battle.
"What's it gonna take to bring this thing down?" Ochako said out loud while Eijiro thought about it. If he had to guess, the robot's main weakness was probably in its chest. He could probably punch through that, but only if he could get up there. And then, an idea emerged in his head.
"Ochako, throw me at it."
"Huh?! Are you nuts?!" Ochako said. "That didn't work with the rock."
"Well, I'm tougher than a rock." Eijiro stated.
"But, what's gonna happen if-"
"Ochako, trust me. We can do this." Eijiro said, smiling that same confident smile that never failed to make the brunette's heart skip. Feeling motivated, Ochako nodded.
"Okay!" The gravity girl grabbed her crush by the wrist with all ten fingers, making him float with her quirk. Ochako began to spin him around and around, gaining more and more momentum.
"HERE WE GO!" Ochako yelled as she threw Eijiro into the air. And as he was airborne, the blackette crossed his arms in front of him, hardening his body to its maximum density.
"TAKE THIS!" Like a human cannonball, Eijiro pierced through the Zero-Pointer's chest. And with its vital systems compromised, the massive robot shut down. Ochako couldn't believe it! The two of them took down a giant goddang robot! The brunette smiled at this, pumping her fists as the mechanical creature shut down.
"That was so cool!" Ochako heard Midoriya exclaim from behind her.
"...far be it from me to question your stratagem, but how is he going to stop his ascension?" The birdman asked, making Ochako's eyes widen in realization.
"Oh, shit!" The brunette then quickly brought her fingertips together. "Release!"
"Wait, isn't that just gonna make him fall?" Midoriya asked, making Ochako's face whiten as she just realized that.
"AHHHH!" Eijiro screamed as he began to fall towards the concrete.
"EIJI!" Ochako shouted, racing forward and running around the shutdown Zero-Pointer. But thankfully, a bundle of long green vines shot into the air, wrapping around Eijiro and stopping his fall.
"Are you alright?" Eijiro looked down and saw a young woman with dark green eyes looking up at him, and saw that the long vines were part of her hair, which had a vine-like appearance too. He smiled down at her and gave her a thumbs up.
"Thanks to you, I am."
"I see." The vine-haired woman said with a smile, bringing her hands together as she set Eijiro down onto the street. "Thank the lord."
And as soon as her vines were removed from him, Eijiro was taken aback when Ochako suddenly hugged him.
"Eiji, I'm so sorry!" The brunette said with her eyes watering. "I didn't think this through and I...I almost…"
"H-Hey, hey. It's fine." Eijiro said, caught between feeling like shit for bringing Ochako to the verge of tears, and enjoying the feeling of the brunette being so close to him, her bosom pushing against his chest, and her muscular arms wrapped around him. Without even thinking about it, Eijiro wiped a tear from Ochako's eye with his finger. "It was my idea anyway, so don't even think about blaming yourself."
"Eiji…" Ochako said, the two looking each other in the eyes, the world around them seemingly gone as embraced.
"Oh my." The vine-haired girl said with her hand over her mouth.
"Nice one, dude." Kaminari said with a smirk. But suddenly, an alarm blared all around the testing area.
"TIME'S UP, LISTENERS!" Present Mic's loud voice shouted over the PA system. "Hope you all tried your best! And if any of you wannabe heroes or heroines are injured, we got our own medical professional coming to the scene!"
"Dammit!" Eijiro shouted, surprising Ochako enough to let go of him. "Guess I gotta buy lunch."
The brunette was confused, but then remembered their little bet. "I guess you do. Don't worry, I'll pick out something cheap."
A few minutes later, several medical robots took to the cityscape, treating the examinees for injuries and holding up medical stretchers for them to rest on.
"You sure you're feelin' okay?" Ochako asked Eijiro as the two sat on some debris.
"Of course I am! My quirk's manly enough to absorb all the damage." The red-eyed young man said as he held his arm. Ochako was unconvinced by this and lightly poked it, causing Eijiro to flinch in pain.
"Liar." The brunette said with a pout.
"Hey, Kirishima! Uraraka!" The duo looked and saw Midoriya and the birdman walking towards them, his foot seemingly healed.
"Oh, hey Midoriya. Hi, birdguy." Ochako said.
"Birdguy? Oh right, we have not been properly introduced." The red-eyed birdman said before striking a pose, with his hand over his right eye. "I am he who contains the darkest of spirits inside him! He who has battled against the dying of the light in his past life! In this form, I am known...as Fumikage Tokoyami!"
An awkward silence soon followed as Eijiro, Ochako, and Midoriya awkwardly stared at the birdman's...eccentric introduction. And suddenly, the living shadow emerged from his back with a disappointed look on its face.
"And shit like is this is why you're still single." The shadow said before waving at the three. "Wassup? The name's Dark Shadow, and I'm this nerd's quirk."
"A sentient quirk! That's so cool!" Midoriya said as he pulled a notebook and pencil out of his tracksuit.
"You had that in there during the exam?" Eijiro asked out loud.
"Hello, dearies." Eijiro and Ochako looked down to see a short elderly woman wearing a blue visor, a doctor's outfit, and a cane shaped like a syringe needle. "Does anyone need any treatment?"
"This guy, right here." Ochako said as she pointed to Eijiro, making her crush pout as the short woman approached him.
"I see. Show me where it hurts, dearie." The hardening young man brought his left arm down to her level. The elderly woman kissed Eijiro's forearm, and to his surprise, his arms began to feel way better! But he also began to feel a bit tired. The short lady then pulled some gummy bears out of her jacket pocket. "Take these stamina gummies so you don't feel as tired."
"Thanks, miss…"
"Chiyo Shuzenji. But you can call me Recovery Girl."
After they were cleared to leave the campus, Eijiro and Ochako said goodbye to Midoriya and Tokoyami, hoping to see the two again if they made it into U.A. And true to her word, Ochako found a cheap ramen stand for the two to eat at that late afternoon.
One week later, the duo received their exam results in the mail. Eijiro decided to wait until the two were hanging out in Ochako's apartment. The two had their letters on the living room table, both of them nervous about their test resorts.
"So...who goes first?" Eijiro asked.
"Rock, Paper, Scissors? Loser opens theirs first?" Ochako replied. The black-haired young man agreed and the two did just that, Eijiro picking rock while Ochako picked scissors, meaning she had to open hers first. To their surprise, the letter contained a small hologram projector instead of a letter. With a tap of the button, the message projected in front of them. And to their surprise…
"I AM HERE...TO DELIVER YOUR TEST RESULTS!"
"ALL MIGHT?!" Ochako and Eijiro shouted, shocked to see the Number 1 Hero in this hologram message. The hologram All Might chuckled.
"Greetings, Young Uraraka. You must be pretty shocked to see me of all people delivering this message. Well, I haven't made it public yet, but I'm gonna be teaching Hero 101 this semester. But enough about that, let's talk about your results."
Ochako swallowed in nervousness, anxious to hear what came next.
"I must say, you have a pretty effective, if amateur fighting style. I'm particularly a fan of your throwing technique. And with 37 Villain Points, you would easily earn a place in the mid-teens of all the exam scores."
"Would?" The two thought in confusion.
"That is, if we were only testing you on combat and raw power alone. You see, there's a hidden point system in place; Rescue Points! That's right, me and the other teachers were also testing you youngsters on heroic aptitude. After all, while fighting supervillains is an important part of a hero's job, saving others without expecting anything in return is the true essence of heroism!"
The hologram then showed footage of Ochako saved the invisible girl from a pursuing robot, her saving Eijiro from falling debris, helping Midoriya save Tokoyami, and finally, her and Eijiro's team-up move that defeated the Zero-Pointer.
"And you got that part down, young Uraraka! In fact, with your 68 rescue points, combined with your 37 villain points, your total score is a whopping 105! And well, I think it's better to show you than tell you where you stand in the rankings."
The hologram then showed the scoreboard for the top 10 examinees. And Ochako and Eijiro's eyes widened when they saw Ochako's name in the Number 1 spot.
"Suffice to say, the board and I would be fools to reject someone with that much potential." Hologram All Might said with a smile and a held out hand. "Ochako Uraraka, welcome to your Hero Academia."
The apartment was quiet as the message shut off. Ochako was in disbelief, feeling like this was all a dream.
"I made it into U.A." The brunette whispered to herself. "I made it into U.A." Tears threatened to fall from her eyes as a wide smile appeared on her face. Ochako stood up and threw her muscular arms up. "I MADE IT INTO U.A.!"
"Way to go, Ochako!" Eijiro shouted as the brunette leaped and cheered, happy that his friend/crush got into her dream university. While the brunette continued to celebrate, Eijiro came to a realization. He was only one bot behind Ochako, and helped take down the Zero-Pointer. He quickly opened his letter and activated the hologram projector.
Like with Ochako's message, All Might was the one delivering it, delivering a similar speech and showing footage of him saving Ochako and the invisible girl from a robot, him attacking the Zero-Pointer's shin, and the finishing move that ended the massive machine. His 34 points combined with his 62 rescue points combined to a total of 96 points, earning him the second place spot amongst the examinees.
"Eijiro Kirishima, welcome to your Hero Academia."
As the message shut off, Eijiro felt his breath caught in his throat for a second before he stood up and shouted, "HELL YEAH!"
"We did it!" Ochako shouted as she hugged Eijiro. In a bout of pure happiness, Eijiro wrapped his arms around the brunette and spun her around. "We got into U.A.!"
"I know!" Eijiro responded with the brightest smile.
"We're gonna be heroes!"
"I know!"
Eijiro stopped spinning the two of them around, the two looking each other in the eyes with pure happiness. As for what happened next...well, to this day, the two still weren't sure why they did what they did. But they figured that through the rush of learning they got into their dream college, and the rush of happiness and excitement is what caused it.
Because one second, they were looking into each other's eyes. And the next second, their lips were connected, their eyes closed as they began to kiss. The two separated for a second, but quickly continued to kiss, with Ochako wrapping her beefy arms around Eijiro's shoulders while he placed his hands on her hips. The muscular duo continued to kiss, pushing against each other until Eijiro was pushed onto the futon, with Ochako falling with him.
After about a minute of kissing, their lips finally separated, with Ochako looking down at Eijiro with a look of pure love in her eyes. And Eijiro returned that look, his red eyes looking at the gravity-defying brunette like she was the most wondrous site he had ever seen. But soon enough, the rush soon faded. The muscular pair began to blush like crazy, their eyes widening as they realized what they just did. With a cute "Eep!", Ochako quickly got off of Eijiro, sitting up straight on the futon with an increasing blush. Eijiro sat up, rubbing the back of his hair with an awkward look.
"So...that happened." Eijiro stated.
"Ya." Ochako replied.
Suffice to say, things were about to get more exciting for the muscular duo. In more ways than one.
BOOM! No pussy-footing, 'will they, won't they' nonsense in this story! I was originally gonna have Eijiro and Ochako hook-up after this story's version of the USJ Arc, but I realized that having the two act oblivious/slash unsure about their feelings for 10 plus chapters would not just be frustrating for the characters in-story, but for the audience as well.
Speaking of the story, the reason why this chapter took longer than normal was because I was wondering what I should do with the non-KiriChako parts of it. I could either keep the overall story mostly the same, but Eijiro and Ochako being together, or take the Stations of the Canon and smash it to pieces with a comically oversized sledgehammer. You guys can probably guess what I've decided to do.
You guys can also probably see what ways I've changed the story, including who gets One for All in this version of events. And to anyone bummed by me putting First Impressions on hiatus, I think you'll be happy to see some elements from that story transplanted into this one.
And in case you guys were wondering, here's the top 10 of the U.A. Entrance Exam
Ochako Uraraka
Eijiro Kirishima
Ibara Shiozaki
Katsuki Bakugou
Izuku Midoriya
Itsuka Kendo
Tenya Iida
Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu
Kyoka Jiro
