9. All Aboard That's Going Aboard
Quick Author's Notes: Given how long it's been since this story was updated, I just thought that I should remind you guys that this is a Naruto reincarnates into Percy story and as such, their names are interchangeable. Also, just in case it confuses some of you, if I say the Kushina, I'm talking about the sub itself, if I say just Kushina then I mean the sub's AI.
Story Start: The Big House
Every Counselor for the original twelve cabins and a representative of each of the more recent cabins were present in the conference room looking to the front where Naruto stood, form shifted into a twenty year old version of his current body so that way everyone could easily see him, Grover standing on his left and Chiron on his right. Outside of the room, Tyson was leaning against the wall opposite the open door surrounded by the cabins' 'second in commands', unable to fit in the room but still able to hear and offer any advice if they thought of anything. Leaning against a wall of the conference room with a disinterested look on his face, Mr. D idly popped the tab on a Diet Coke and took an obnoxiously loud sip.
All of the Campers and Chiron proceeded to ignore the Wine God as Naruto said "First things first, anybody injured from the attack beyond scrapes and bruises?"
There was a round of negative answers and Annabeth stated "No serious injuries were reported Percy."
Naruto nodded and looked at Chiron as he asked "Chiron, have you managed to identify what was used to poison Thalia's Tree?"
Chiron gained a heavy frown and said "Only partially I'm afraid. It's a poison I've never encountered which implies it comes from a monster DEEP in Tartarus. I WAS able to ascertain that it came from a snake."
Apollo's Counselor, Lee Fletcher, huffed and said "For all the good that does us, do you have ANY idea how many snakes classified as Monster level there are out there? And almost ALL of them need unique antidotes to cure their venom. Oh, there are some common ingredients among groups of them to be sure, but they also need something unique added into them for the specific species of snake."
There were several disgruntled mutterings at that before they all fell silent as Grover said "Thankfully, I have a lead on something that removes the need to know where the poison came from." Placing a photograph on the table, seals lit up and a hologram appeared showing a blown up version of the photograph.
At the sight of a shimmering golden object hanging on the branch of a tree, several of the demi gods let out stunned hisses of surprise. Lee's eyes were wide as he said lowly "The Golden Fleece of Chrysomallus." He then grinned and said "Yeah, that would definitely work."
"And it would explain why Wasp of the Gray Sisters gave me a set of coordinates that are inside the Bermuda Triangle on the way here earlier today." Naruto said as he eyed the object hanging from the Oak Tree, seemingly completely unguarded.
"I assume there's a reason why all you did was take a picture rather than grab it when you came back to the States. What's guarding it?" Annabeth asked.
Grover nodded to her and slid the photograph off the table to replace it with another which projected the image of a MASSIVE cyclops standing on a beach as the Satyr said "For starters, there's this guy."
Chiron sighed and said "Polyphemus. That DOES make things a bit difficult, yes. Given how old he is, he will no doubt be an extremely durable foe. I'm honestly impressed you were able to get close enough to take this picture Grover, cyclops have incredibly good hearing."
"Yeah, bastard almost caught me before I could get back over the ocean with my flight seals." Grover said grumpily with crossed arms before grimacing as he continued "And I can confirm the guy's durability. I hit him with a lightning round from my Sarutobi at where his heart was and the rod barely went in a couple of inches. Would have tried to go for that big eye of his but by that point he was chucking rocks at me like he was a star NBA pitcher. That and I had to stay out of the way of his sheep too."
Clarisse snorted and asked "What possible threat could sheep be?"
Grover gained a morbid smirk and he said "Well, I'll admit the flock of normal sheep Polyphemus keeps on one side of his island are perfectly harmless. The sheep he has guarding the Fleece on the other hand..."
Sliding the picture of the cyclops off the table, Grover replaced it with a third photo and at the sight of twelve sheep tearing into a deer there was silence for a moment before Clarisse said "Alright, I'll admit, I wouldn't want to be near one of those things while dealing with a giant Cyclops at the same time."
Grover let out an affirmative hum at that before he said "Before I started my return to the States, I went high to take one last photograph." Swapping photos again showed an island that was a rather close match for Sicily shape wise.
As Naruto studied the image, he focused on the water shown in the photograph, using his Poseidon Demigod power of always being able to tell the location of water and a moment later, he said "30, 31, 75, 12. Yep, that's where Wasp told me to go alright." Now looking through the image at the campers arrayed in front of him, he said "The Kushina can carry forty people relatively comfortably. I'll be taking Grover, Annabeth, and Tyson with me. That leaves thirty six more people. I want a total combat force of no less than twenty people for this mission, at least two of that number Apollo Cabin Snipers. We should also have at least one of the more competent medics with us to properly take advantage of the Kushina's Med Bay if any of us get too banged up on this mission. Annabeth, Clarisse, I leave the composition of who is coming and who is staying to defend the camp up to you two."
Annabeth and Clarisse traded a look with each other before glancing back at Naruto and Annabeth nodded as she said "We'll have a list ready within fifteen minutes and everyone going ready in an hour Percy."
Naruto nodded and said "Good, then we leave in two, have everyone meet at the dock once preparations are complete. Dismissed."
As everyone filed out of the room, Naruto sighed through his nose and asked "I'm not the only one finding the timing of all of this extremely suspicious, am I?"
"Unfortunately not." Chiron said with a heavy frown before continuing "But we don't have much choice. Stay on your toes Mr. Uzumaki."
"Right." Naruto said, shifting down to his 'natural' aged body before striding out of the room. Leaving the Big House with Tyson keeping pace, he headed for the docking channel he had installed last summer.
Once there, he unsealed the Kushina, the red sub throwing up water as it appeared which Naruto idly sent back into the channel with his hydrokinesis before he and Tyson hopped aboard, quickly climbing up the conning tower and then climbing back down it once they were inside the submarine.
From there, it was a quick walk into the bridge and as he sat down in the command chair Naruto said "Kushina, link up with Poseidon's Fleet and send a conference request for the captains of every vessel on the Eastern Seaboard along with the area around the Bermuda Triangle. Oh, and the Naval Command for those areas as well while you're at it, let's try to keep this above board."
"On it." Kushina's voice said from the speakers even as the front wall screen turned on, split into several screens. Within a minute, those screens began filling in with faces, most of them single eyed Cyclopes but also showing other aquatic species. One of the first ones to appear was Percy's half-brother Triton, the full god appearing in the center directly opposite Naruto in a section three times bigger than the rest, giving his younger half sibling a cordial nod that the shinobi returned.
Once all of the screens were filled, Triton glanced at something off screen before he looked back at Naruto and said "Alright Jackson, everyone you requested is here, now what's this all about? It must be something big for you to need to talk to so many of us at once."
Naruto nodded and said "I'm afraid it is Triton. Scythe is finally making a play, and he isn't being subtle about it at all." Several of the captains let out hisses hearing that code name and Triton and the rest all let out scowls as Naruto continued "Earlier this morning, my Satyr friend contacted me via communications seal telling me that he discovered something important and that he was rapidly making his way back to Camp Half-Blood. We at the camp just learned that the object he found was the Golden Fleece. (Cue looks of surprise on everyone's faces) Just a couple of hours ago, someone poisoned Thalia's Tree weakening the barrier around the camp and a massive force of monsters quickly arrived to attack us. Unfortunately, Chiron was unable to identify the poison used beyond it being from a type of snake monster but he believes it originates from Tartarus, which in turn makes curing the poison incredibly difficult. Difficult, unless you can obtain a cure all like the Golden Fleece."
Triton nodded and said "And we strongly believe that Scythe has a mobile aquatic base in the form of the Princess Andromeda due to it having been somehow hidden from our means of detection ten months ago. You believe that you will be intercepted by our enemies after you obtain the Golden Fleece for them?"
Naruto nodded and scowled as he said "That's right. But as you all can probably guess, I don't feel particularly inclined to do whoever the bastard has working for him's dirty work."
Various statements of agreement came from everyone before Triton gained a look of calculation as he mused out "This might actually be an opportunity for us. As I just stated, we cannot determine that ship's location. However, if she comes to us, then we can potentially remove her and whatever forces she carries from play."
Naruto nodded and said "That was my line of thinking, have an escort waiting at the entrances to the Sea of Monsters since the Princess Andromeda is too large to use either one and have them follow behind the Kushina on the way back, trading off as we leave each ship's normal patrol section."
Triton nodded before one of the Cyclops on the right side of the screen offered "The Defiant is currently being resupplied with provisions and other supplies but we'll be finished in three hours. With how close our resupply base is to the Sea of Monsters, we can serve as first escort when you exit the area."
A sea nymph nodded and added "The Red Reef is also close enough to support the Kushina by that time."
"Make it so." Triton ordered before he continued "We'll establish an escort schedule with the rest of the fleet for the remainder of the voyage. Even if Scythe's forces try to jump the Kushina right out the gate, I still want an escort until Jackson returns to Camp Half Blood. The Golden Fleece is far too important to risk being intercepted before it arrives, both in regards of the current situation as well as in general."
Naruto nodded his agreement at that before he said "I agree. We'll be leaving in just under two hours. Barring no complications, at top speed we should reach the entrance to the Sea of Monsters in thirteen hours after departure. Time will get rather wonky once we enter, but I'm hoping we'll be inside it no longer than a week to those outside of it, preferably only a day or two."
"We'll be waiting." The Captain of the Red Reef said with a nod, which Defiant's Captain mirrored.
Soon after that, the conference call ended and Percy sighed, finally allowing himself to relax now that he had a few hours before they would be leaving. Standing up from the command chair, he said "Come on Tyson, I'll give you a quick tour of the Camp then we can put that Summoning Seal in our cabin."
Tyson nodded and said "Sounds like a plan." As they walked towards the conning tower ladder he frowned and asked "Think you could send a clone back home while you're at it? We never got a chance to pack before coming here."
Percy nodded and said "Soon as I've got the summoning seal set up in Cabin Three and link it with the one at the apartment you and a clone can make a quick trip back to the apartment together."
Percy had made a summoning seal in the apartment to serve as an emergency escape for Sally. The shinobi had given his current mother a seal when he came back home last summer that was voice activated which would trigger the transport. He'd have to tweak the seal a bit so that way it could link with the new seal at Cabin Three permanently rather than having to 'dial in' on the target seal each time but once he did so he and Tyson would be able to make the trip instantaneously rather than having to run or take a car back into the city. (He hadn't done that last year because he hadn't actually minded making the run but now he had Tyson with him who wasn't nearly as fast in said runs.)
Once the pair had disembarked from the Kushina Percy showed Tyson around. He had to all but physically drag him out of the black smith area, the itch to forge something hitting the young Cyclops something fierce when his nose smelt the scent of metal and fire hanging around the place. Percy had to promise him that as soon as they were back with the Golden Fleece he could spend the next week in the building. (He'd probably wind up bringing Tyson his meals given what he remembered of when Tyson made his rotary gun.)
When Percy led Tyson into Cabin Three at the end of the tour, he could swear the cabin actually seemed to perk up hopefully. That hopeful feeling turned into quiet joy when Percy said "My bunk's the bottom right one closest to the door, pick out any other you want."
Tyson nodded before he blinked and pointed at the back where there was a three tiered fountain decorated with all kinds of sea life that had been dry right up until the pair entered the building. As soon as Percy had crossed the threshold though two of its twelve nozzles started up and Tyson asked "Does it always turn on and off when you come and go or is that just because you haven't been here since last summer?"
Percy glanced at the fountain for a moment before he went to the back right corner of the cabin and said "The Latter. Even though we've already been here for a while, it's only turning on now since we actually entered the Cabin. Evidently, every Cabin has something that indicates there is a camper staying at them, either externally or internally. For Example, Cabin 9's smokestacks let out smoke when one of its campers is at Camp. Supposedly, they have one for each cabin member residing there so you can tell who's here that way. Even the so called 'minor' cabins we built last year have a little something to show when they're occupied."
Tyson nodded in acknowledgement at that before he watched his half-brother unseal his sealing supplies and quickly write out the summoning seal. Ten minutes later, Naruto stood up and said "Alright, it's connected to the apartment's seal. My clone will have to adjust the seal there to make it two way. It's also blood locked for security so put a drop there."
Tyson accepted the kunai Percy gave him and easily nicked his thumb before pressing it against the spot Percy pointed at. Shortly after, Tyson and his clone equipped with a small bit of his blood went through the seal and one of the two running fountain nozzles stopped. Feeling a sense of disappointment from the Cabin, Percy absently patted the fountain and said "We've got a mission we'll need to head off on later but don't worry, once I'm back outside of day trips I'm planning on staying here for the rest of the summer."
The Cabin seemed to perk up at that and Percy nodded before he moved away from the fountain to the cabin's left wall. Tapping at a seal there, a set of shelves filled with all manner of Shinobi gear appeared. The three sets of a dozen steel shuriken and two sets of steel kunai Percy had made himself, and the professional lock pick set he had bought from a lock smith. (It wasn't illegal to own them after all, just to use them to unlock things that you weren't supposed to.) But everything else was made out of the much more chakra conductive celestial bronze and commissioned from the Cyclopes in his father's forges. There were several spools of shinobi wire, more shuriken and kunai sets, and a blade the same size as Riptide for when he wanted to dual wield but couldn't use chakra and or water for some reason, or, more pessimistically speaking, to replace Riptide if it somehow broke on him. The final items Percy took from the shelf were one of the six stacks of twenty explosive tags and another stack of the six stacks of 'bunker' barrier seals.
With everything packed into his trusty denim cloth kunai pouch, which he had long since enhanced with multiple storage and durability seals, Percy resealed his personal armory and headed for Cabin Three's entrance. He patted the doorframe as he passed and said to the cabin "I should be back in no more than a week or two."
The cabin sent a feeling of farewell to him and Percy purposefully strode to the camp armory. Once there, he signed out a Sarutobi rifle, not wanting to risk having a shadow clone version of one of the weapons dispelling from a lucky hit in the middle of a fight. After performing a quick performance check on the weapon, Percy slung the rifle over one shoulder then made his way back to the Kushina.
Three members of Hermes cabin were already standing there with packs on their backs along with their own Sarutobi rifles slung over their shoulders, daggers strapped to their waists, one of them with two of such weapons while another had a buckler on her left arm. Percy traded nods with the three but the group remained silent as they waited for everyone else to join them.
The next one to join them was Jennifer Richards, twenty one year old daughter of Aceso, Greek goddess of healing, and the only child of said goddess present at the camp. She only had a Celestial Bronze dagger for defense but she was loaded down with a rather large back pack and a shoulder bag, both with Red Cross and caduceus symbols on them, and then an unmarked duffle bag slung on her other shoulder. At Percy's raised eyebrow, she huffed and said "I know the Kushina's med bay is fully stocked sir, this is just me assuaging my own paranoia."
"Nothing wrong with that." Percy said with an easy shrug.
The Adrian twins arrived next. Percy's requested Apollo Sniper pair, the blonde fraternal twins Jake and Rachel had their longer barreled weapons in actual gun cases along with a xiphos each for close quarters combat at their backs under their duffle bags.
Annabeth came next with four other members of Cabin Six, three boys and one girl. Like everyone else but Jennifer they had Sarutobi rifles but that was where the similarities ended with the rest of the combatants weapon wise. Instead of daggers at their waist or short swords at their backs, these four had large circular shields and spears. They were also wearing full metal armor while the Hermes and Apollo kids had leather. Clearly this group was to be the front line fighters.
Percy traded nods with the Athena kids before he turned to Annabeth and said "I got in touch with dad's naval elements stationed off the east coast and around the Bermuda Triangle. We'll have an escort when we leave the Sea of Monsters."
Annabeth nodded at that with a thoughtful frown. A moment later, she shook off whatever was on her mind as Grover came running up. Setting down his pack, Percy's older than he looked friend grumbled out "I'm glad we're taking the Kushina and so many others with us Percy, the Sea of Monsters was NOT fun to travel around in solo. Damn Circes almost turned me all goat when I had to stop on her island for supplies."
Percy scowled at that news and said "Well, looks like I'll be sending a squadron of clones to her island once we're inside the Sea."
"Would you kindly?" Grover asked, now grinning evilly at the thought of what twelve copies of the son of Poseidon could do to the menace.
A few minutes later, there was the sound of a loud and rather rude cadence being called and everyone looked back towards the cabin to see four members of Cabin Five come marching towards the group, fully decked out in armor just like their Cabin Six counterparts only with about three times the amount of weapons and spikes on their shields. Clarisse marched beside their group, a rather disgruntled look on her face even as she led the cadence.
When the Cabin Five members arrived, Clarisse stated "Alright seaweed brain, these are the ones who I believe can handle that whack job and his freaky sheep the best." She then grimaced and said "I REALLY want to come join you in kicking monster ass but since you're bringing wise girl with you I need to stay here to lead the camp defenders in case that bastard Scythe sends another attack force. Especially since who knows how long it'll take you to leave the Sea of Monster's temporal field."
It looked like it physically pained her to admit that. Percy nodded and said "Believe me, I understand the want to be right in the middle of the action. Still, I feel a lot better knowing that at least one of the combat oriented Cabin Counselors is keeping an eye on things around here."
Clarisse grunted at that, gave her cabin mates hearty slaps on the shoulders and a few last minute words before she turned around and began striding back to the interior of the camp.
The next person to arrive had Percy raising an eyebrow. Holding an elaborately carved walking stick, a simple but well cared for set of pan pipes hanging around their neck on a leather cord, a Stetson hat tilted slightly back on his head with two holes in it for their horns (Charmed to allow said tilting and still have full coverage of course), a forest green shirt with a black peace symbol on it, and a ruck sack slung over the shoulder of the arm without the walking stick, the elder looking Satyr that approached their group looked more like he was going for a simple hike than into a combat zone.
When Percy turned his raised eyebrow towards Annabeth, she smiled at him, expression plainly saying 'Yes, he's really coming with us.'
The Satyr stopped a respectable ten feet from Percy and gave him a respectable nod as he said "Lord Jackson." Giving a smaller but still polite nod to Grover, he continued "Mr. Underwood."
Grover gave a respectful nod back and said "Elder Greenwood."
"Forgive my ignorance Elder-," Percy started uncertainly and the Satyr gained a smirk as he finished "Why is an advanced aged Satyr coming along on a combat mission to an area with a Cyclops known for his preference for eating Satyrs without a single weapon on his person?"
Percy gave a 'you said it, not me' gesture and the Elder chuckled as he said "I'm here to deal with your not so insignificant sheep problem Lord Jackson. You see, I specialize in magic dealing with animals. So while you younglings will be dealing with that dreadful cyclops, I'll be keeping the other defenders of the island nice and docile."
"That'll certainly make things easier." Jake Adrian said with a grin, the rest nodding their agreement.
"Quite." Elder Greenwood said with a short nod before he moved to speak with Grover in low tones, planting his walking staff in the ground a mere eighth inch, the length of wood somehow remaining perfectly vertical when he let go of it.
The first the combat force knew the second to last of their number had arrived was when Percy's right arm snapped out and he dryly asked "Lou, what did I tell you about trying to prank me?"
The air next to him shimmered and the dark haired and green eyed Lou Ellen Blackstone tried to pull her right forearm out of Percy's grip, a can of itching powder held in her hand. The daughter of Hecate gave a nowhere near apologetic smile as she said "Only try when you're not doing a class?"
"OR?" Percy asked with a raised eyebrow.
Lou huffed and answered "Or if you are having a meeting or preparing for a mission."
"Exactly." Percy said before his raised eyebrow turned into a stern look as he continued "And considering what's at stake with this mission, keep any mischief you're planning for our enemies. Am I clear?"
"Clear sir!" Lou said, going so far as to make an illusion of a second right arm in order to give him a crisp salute.
Percy huffed and let her arm go and Lou idly shifted her rather small book looking bag on her back even as she all but bounced over to stand by the Satyr pair, Elder Greenwood giving her a disapproving look while Grover gave her a wary one.
Annabeth meanwhile let out a huff then turned serious as she said "Alright Percy, that's everyone on the list Clarisse and I made for this mission." She glanced at the Kushina and asked "I assume the Cyclops you brought to camp is on the sub already? Tyson was it?"
"That's his name yes." Percy said with a nod before he shook his head and said "And no, he's not there. Tyson and I never got a chance to pack so I made a seal portal in Cabin Three that connects to an emergency recall seal I made for my mom and sent him and a clone through. And don't worry, the seal's blood locked so only me, Tyson, and anyone I add can use the seal. And no, just somehow getting a blood sample of us won't unlock it, the seal detects how much of the needed blood is in somebody. If the person using the seal doesn't have ALL of their blood keyed in then the Seals' security features kick in." Naruto gave a dangerous grin as he said "And believe me, any group that tries it won't try to force the issue after the security deals with the first poor bastard to try and use the portal."
Annabeth and the other campers looked alarmed at first at the knowledge that there was a 'backdoor' to the camp but relaxed upon hearing of the blood lock. They then one and all, even Lou, gave a full body shudder at Naruto's grin. Elder Greenwood though simply gave a nod of approval at the end.
It only took a few more minutes for Tyson to return to the Kushina, flying over the group and coming down to a landing next to his half-brother decked out in armor that looked like a mix of classic Greek and modern SWAT gear, all designed and built by said young cyclops over the last half of the school year, a large pack on his back. Raising the clear visor over his face, Tyson said "Your clone's unpacking your stuff back in the cabin Percy. He said he'd leave my stuff in their storage scrolls locked in your armory for when we come back. He also told me to give you this."
Naruto accepted the simple storage scroll labeled with 'One Week of Clothes' with a nod of thanks before he clapped his hands together and said "Right then, now that we are all here, some ground rules about traveling on the Kushina. First and foremost: Stay the Hades out of the command chair in the center of the bridge. That is for Me, Tyson, Annabeth, and Grover, in that order of who is available. The Kushina has an AI in her systems so she can operate completely autonomously if needed. IF, for some gods forsaken reason all four of us are unavailable, tell Kushina what you need to happen and she shall do so.
"Second, there are ten cabins with two bunkbeds each. The cabin closest to the bridge on its right side is mine. Tyson, Annabeth, and Grover get first pick of whether they bunk with me or not. Jennifer, there is a cabin right beside Med Bay and another opposite that cabin that you have first pick of." Jennifer nodded her understanding and Naruto continued.
"Third, all storage seals in the Kushina's Med Bay, Kitchen, Bathrooms, and the emergency storage seals are all touch activated with a mental command. Each of those rooms has a list by the door of the seals locations, where they are located, and what are in them, and are self-updating as well. Included on that list in the kitchen are the seals that are used for cooking. Med Bay also has a few interesting seals to help in a crisis so make sure you look at the list after we get underway Jennifer."
Jennifer nodded again and Naruto clapped his hands together again and said "Alright, that's everything on my end. Any questions?" When there weren't any, he nodded and turned around as he called out "Kushina, lower the bow portside gangplank."
"Aye Aye Captain." The AI said over the sub's external speakers and a storage seal at the front of the ship released a metal ramp a comfortably ten feet wide. Percy led the way up the gangplank and onto the elevator. Once all twenty of them were on top, the gangplank was resealed and a moment later the elevator unlocked and descended into the interior.
As they were lowered, Percy stated "The Bridge has a large viewing screen and twelve seats along its back and seals that can release handle straps for anyone standing in the back so if any of you wish to view our departure have your gear stowed in the next five minutes."
There were nods and statements of acknowledgement from everyone and once the lift reached the floor, Percy slipped into the 'Captain's Cabin' and unsealed the storage scroll Tyson had given him, storing the clothes into the storage drawer that rolled out from under the bottom bunk. (The top bunk had a drawer that could be lowered on a hinge set at the back once it was pulled out at least three inches) His Sarutobi rifle went into a closet that had four racks for said weapon and he placed his thumbprint on the scanner next to the cabinet putting it into the system telling it he was allowed to take one of the weapons stored there.
That done, he slipped out of his cabin and into the bridge, the rest of the people he considered as his new Team following him after having stored their own gear. Slipping into the command chair, Percy ordered "Kushina, send Triton a message that we're departing."
"Message sent." Kushina stated, her image appearing in the hologram projector. One of the Hermes campers let out a low wolf whistle at the sight of her and Percy couldn't help the twitch of his lips when he heard someone dope slap him. Ignoring the grumbling he was now hearing, Percy instead focused on programming in the Kushina's route even as the AI stated "Triton sent back 'Gods speed and safe travels' Percy."
Percy nodded at that and a moment later, the Kushina's bridge screen lit up, a map of the western side of the Atlantic Ocean appearing on it, a blue line marking a path from Long Island to the interior of the Bermuda Triangle. A moment later, the 'screen' minimized and moved to the right revealing the water of the canal on the screen, the people inside the bridge able to see much further through the water than they would have with a normal submarine's external cameras.
Percy tapped a seal on the command chair and a moment later his voice was heard throughout the sub as he called out "Now Hear This: Departure in sixty seconds. Please ensure all loose items are secured and that you are braced for acceleration."
There was a scoff from the speaker overhead, the communications system picking up the Cabin Five member's disbelieving question of "It's a submarine, how fast does he think we'll be going?"
"Seventy five knots Darak." Percy answered.
There was sputtering over the speakers even as Lou asked from the back of the bridge "Wait, seriously?!" and Percy could tell from her tone of voice that she was grinning.
"Yes. We'll be going fast enough to reach the Sea of Monsters' entrance in thirteen hours so again, please make sure your gear is secured and you're braced for our departure. And because I'm nice, I'll give you sixty seconds to do so starting now." Percy said.
As he turned off the communications, there was more than one snicker from behind him and he asked "Everyone buckled in or holding a handle strap back there?"
"Aye!" came most of the replies, with a few more saying "Yes" and Tyson adding "I think I like this seat belt better than the one in the cab Percy."
Percy snickered at that even as he kept an eye on the timer Kushina had helpfully put on the screen. When the timer clicked down to zero Percy engaged the Kushina's caterpillar drives and the ship pulled out of the dock canal. As they moved, the sub angled down into a dive, skimming twenty feet over the ocean floor until they were ten miles out to sea where the ocean floor started dropping off much further below them. The whole time they were traveling the Kushina had steadily accelerated and by the time sixty seconds had passed she was at top speed.
Percy engaged the Kushina's 'cruise control' and stated "You have the helm Kushina."
"Aye Captain." Kushina confirmed taking over the steering and Percy once more turned on the communications system announcing "All Hands, we are now at top speed, feel free to move about, dinner will be served in forty five minutes in the kitchen."
It was official, they were now on their way to the Sea of Monsters.
