AN: This is a fic where Izuku has a mutant quirk affecting his mind. Katsuki is still a bully, or attempting to be one, as his inferiority/superiority complex doesn't like Izuku outclassing him in Academics and some other fields. Pairings and close friend group are still undecided, so all suggestions are open. Also, again, not necessarily the first chapter, just a first look.
Mind over Matter
-Izuku-
Grinning, the wind whipping through his hair, Izuku continued to zoom on his hoverboard as he got closer and closer to U.A. Academy, the recommendation test waiting for him. "Whoa! That thing's awesome!" hearing an excited voice once he passed through the gate, Izuku turned to see a floating head with green hair keeping up with him.
"I know right?" Izuku grinned, slowing down now that he was actually at the school. As he spoke to the floating head, the body that likely went with it hurried over, "Built her myself."
"Sweeeeeeet." The girl grinned as she reattached her head, "Names Tokage. And if you built that thing are you taking a test for the support course? If so, I call dibs on you as my support tech now! I want a hoverboard damnit!"
"I'm here for the Hero Course recommendations actually." Izuku grinned as the board attached itself to his back while they walked inside, tuning out the shouting from a very excitable giant across the way, "Got an invite for it from the Principle himself."
"No way!" Tokage gaped before holding her hand up for a high-five which he happily returned, "I got recommended by Death Arms after he came to my school and let the students who want to be heroes show off their stuff."
"So, what is your stuff?" Izuku raised an eyebrow at the girl who didn't have any distinctly noticeable traits for her quirk, apart from her clothes being very tight and form fitting although that could have less to do with quirk functionality than just her wanting to show off. While he'd seen her head levitating, he doubted it was just that, not to mention it could have been an effect from someone else's quirk altogether.
"I can separate my body into multiple pieces that can all levitate and move as I want them to." To demonstrate this, she split herself into a few pieces, the tight clothes to stick to the separated body parts making more sense now, before putting herself back together. Before he could tell her about his own quirk, they got inside the main building and were ushered to their seats for the written test, something his quirk let him breeze through within minutes, much to the shock and annoyance of many around him.
Once everyone had finished that, to them, grueling written exam they were all ushered into a large amphitheater filled with the U.A. Staff and several other pro heroes and heroines, "Wassup little listeners?!" the excitable Present Mic shouted as everyone got seated, grinning as he took center stage, "It's time for your practical test! Now, you all will be demonstrating your skills for the staff and pros here. It can be with your quirk, fighting ability, intellect, or any other field you think would be proof of your potential as a hero. Do any of you have questions?"
"I have one." Izuku raised his hand as he stood up, a spotlight shining on him from…somewhere as he looked at two of the top ten Heroines, Miruko and Ryukyu, and the U.A. professor Midnight "I wanted to ask now before you all left, and I didn't get a chance but are you aware that there are taps on your phones?" he asked the three as you could hear a pin drop in the room.
"…Say what now?" Present Mic looked flummoxed, the group likely not having expected this.
"My quirk is that my brain is a supercomputer." Izuku shrugged "I can run thousands of calculations a second in my mind, access the internet, interface with machines, and I even produce my own Wi-Fi. It's a bit of a habit to scan for stuff like that after my mom's computer got hacked a couple years ago and I found that you three all have taps on your phones that seem to come from the same source."
"Do you know what source this is?" Miruko growled, cracking her knuckles, showing the aggressive personality she was well known for.
"If I'm allowed to use my quirk beyond the bounds of this room I can find out." He nodded, not wanting to do more than he had and risk technically violating laws. Upon getting the nod of approval, Izuku focused, lines of code streaming over his eyes as he traced the signal to its source and finding other extending branches from there as well. "Here it is." He projected the name, face, and address of the individual tapping the phones on a large screen "He apparently works at a cellphone company and has been placing bugs and taps on the phones of all the pro heroines he can. I found a file connected to these taps that was fill of images but there is no way in hell I'm opening that and risking getting an ass beating."
"Smart move kid." Miruko smirked as she grabbed Ryukyu "Well, that kid has my vote. Come on scales! We have a pervert to go arrest."
"I just sent a list of all the people he tapped to your phones, as well as the other illegal activities I found on his computer." Izuku offered, still having the spotlight, "There's also a tracker for his phone now on yours so you'll know if he goes somewhere with it."
"Can I make a statement too?" Tokage stood up before pointing at Izuku "I call dibs! He is MY sidekick now! Find your own! Green hair forever!"
"Who you callin' a sidekick?"
-Nezu-
Cackling to himself gleefully, Nezu chugged down his tea, eyes shining with delight as he saw his new protégé impress the heroes for the test, even busting criminal who'd been gathering illicit data on dozens of pro heroines. With such a debut at their school there was no way Izuku Midoriya wasn't passing. Plus, there was that Tokage girl who had a great quirk for investigation and tracking. Oh, this year was going to be so much fun! He couldn't wait for the regular tests so he could start choosing who to put into Izuku's class to give Aizawa a headache.
