AN: Hey everybody, this isn't part of the usual update cycle, that's put on pause for the next week. I went through all my stories and I've deleted several of them, most being ones I adopted early on in my writing career on this website. I got rid of them as I found I had no plan and, more importantly, no spark of inspiration for them. So I've decided to add a second chaptered My Hero Academia fic. On my profile you'll find a poll for the candidates on who to pair Izuku with in that next story. I'll put together a list of story options after a pairing is decided, this one being made in mind WITH that pairing so there won't be the kind of debate 'What Doesn't Kill Me' has.
AN2: This was an idea I had for an interesting stockpile quirk that could allow one to, at least for a bit, rival someone with One for All. How it works is that it lets the user stockpile strength and speed. Doing something at less than one hundred percent of your maximum potential adds to the stockpile. So, say lifting a pencil up rather than pushing your limits on a bench press would add the difference to the stockpile. Walking rather than sprinting would do the same.
Maximum Potential
-Izuku-
"Next up, Izuku Midoriya." The examiner for the mass U.A. entrance exam called out, each student getting the chance to show off their various skills in a wide assortment of tests from academic, to deducrive, combative, and now straight up quirk use. Stepping forward, and having a plan in mind, Izuku braced himself "What would you like young man?"
"I'd like to do a comparison against the computer using the casual performance records of different pro heroes. One for strength and another for speed." Izuku stated, the UA facility having several combat training simulators from various pro heroes who've used the facilities and recorded them, letting students test where they stood against the various pros.
"Speed first then." The man nodded while the other UA hopefuls watching muttered curious about what would happen, especially as Izuku hadn't shown his quirk in any of the prior tests. Getting at the starting line of a fifty meter Dash, the testing room projected a hologram of the Turbo Hero Ingenium beside him.
"I can do this." Izuku muttered, ignoring the heated glare from Bakugo in the stands as Izuku pushed his quirk, emptying out his entire speed stockpile for this one test. Emerald lighting coursed around his body as he clenched his muscles and took off like a rocket the moment the bell to go sounded, blasting past the casual speed that Ingenium set when he was last using this facility. Granted though that was Izuku sprinting all out against a casual jog from Ingenium, and it emptied months of stockpile build up, but he did it!
Nobody in the stands was muttering now as Izuku panted, getting up with a wince as his muscles protested the sudden brutal movement that had only just stopped "S…strength next then." The wide eyed examiner gulped as a hologram of the Rabbit Hero Mirko appeared by a punching bag.
-All Might-
"…Holy fuck!" Present Mic gaped from the teacher's observation booth, nobody bothering to scold the man for his language after seeing what the green haired student had just done.
"It was fast but his body clearly can't handle that kind of speed." Aizawa narrowed his eyes as the boy walked over the punching bag gingerly, winding back a punch, this time covered in red lightning, as he burst open the punching bag with a single blow, the backlash clearly painful "Or strength."
"I'm not surprised." Nezu cackled happily "The boy put everything he had from his stockpile into those two actions! He quite likely emptied them both for this test in a desperation to get accepted."
"Stockpile?" All Might looked over at the mouse, a stockpile of physical power felt too familiar to him, given his own quirk.
"He stockpiles strength and speed that he doesn't use for any action into it. Training and going all out would of course increase that 'top mark' that his quirk registers but doing anything less than all out stores energy for his quirk to use later."
"…So he can be lazy and it makes him stronger for later?" Aizawa blinked before scowling "Lucky."
AN: Just a little snippet to introduce the idea. An actual first chapter would be longer, go into character, etc.
