Thanksgiving Surprise-Ch 14
When the newlyweds pulled apart they first shook the ministers hand and thanked him for officiating the ceremony on such short notice, he smiled and said, "you're very welcome and again I pray that you have a wonderful life filled with love, peace, joy and happiness". Penelope said, "we're about to head over to the reception dinner, would you like to join us?", he said, "thank you but I have another wedding to officiate in a little while so I'll have to pass on the offer".
Derek smiled at him and said, "thanks again", the minister nodded his head and said, "any time", they then watched him shake hands with the rest of the family before he waved and headed across the yard. Fran hugged her son and daughter-in-law and said, "now let's get to the reception, we've got a lot to celebrate today", everybody nodded their heads yes in agreement as they followed the happy newlyweds back up the flower petal path and headed toward the house.
Once they stepped inside Dave said, "well congratulations you two, I'm so happy for you", Fran said, "me too, me too, I've never seen my son so happy, so loved and it looks good on him, it looks good on the both of you". Hotch grinned and said, "I couldn't have said it better myself Fran", the others hugged the happy couple and then made their way to the dining room and all of the delicious food that Fran and the girls had prepared.
When they sat down at the table Fran said, "I hope that everybody is hungry because I think we made enough to feed an army", Emily said, "it's a good thing because you have one here on your hands", everybody laughed and then grabbed their plates and started filling them with the delicious smelling food.
For the next hour or so they laughed, talked and ate, it was then that Derek looked at his sister Sarah and nodded his head, she grinned and walked over to the sound system and stood there waiting on his cue. Derek stood up and held out his hand to his wife, he said, "would you care to dance with me Mrs. Morgan?", she laughed and said, "I'd love to Mr. Morgan" as she slid her hand in his and started making their way outside to the dance area.
When they got outside Derek said, "now Sarah", Sarah turned the music on and then headed outside to watch their first dance together as a happily married couple and when she got outside she smiled as she saw her brother pull his new bride into his arms. As the sound of All Of Me by John Legend started filling the air, she looked up at him and grinned, he said, "you didn't think I'd remember did ya?", she leaned in and brushed her lips against his and said, "not really handsome but once again you proved me wrong".
As they started dancing Derek said, "I've been your best friend for years baby girl sooooo of course I'm gonna pick up on a few things", she winked at him and said, "I love you", he kissed the end of her nose and said, "and I love you". It was only a matter of a few seconds before the other couples soon joined the newlyweds on the dance floor to help them celebrate their big day, the day that they had all been waiting and praying for since the couple met.
Fran looked over her shoulder and smiled, Dave said, "you have a beautiful smile Bella", she said, "thank you kind sir", he said, "they look so happy together don't they?", Fran nodded her head and said, "that they do, it's like they were destined to be together from the first moment they met", Dave said, "they were Bella, they were" and she smiled as he leaned in and claimed her lips with his.
After the first dance was over Fran said, "alright everybody let's head back inside, it's time for the bride and groom to cut their cake", everybody then followed Fran inside so that they could watch the happy couple cut the cake. Reid couldn't wait to see if they fed each other nicely or if they covered each others faces with the cake and to not disappoint they did both, they gently fed each other a bite and then covered each others faces with the rest of the piece of cake.
Everybody laughed as they watched Derek and Penelope kiss with cake all over their faces, Derek then wiped the cake off of his brides face and kissed her lips, she said, "you just wait till I get you alone mister". He wiggled his eyebrows and said, "ohhhh I can hardly wait", she playfully slapped his shoulder and then winked at him as they wiped the rest of the icing off of each others faces before rejoining the others at the table for dessert.
A few dances later Derek intertwined fingers with his bride and said, "you ready to head out sweetness?", she nodded her head and said, "ready when you are handsome" as they walked over to the others to say their good nights. They were heading back to the cabin for their honeymoon and they couldn't wait to get there and spend the next week alone so that they could spend plenty of time alone doing nothing but making love.
Derek and Penelope hugged everybody and thanked them again for everything they did to help them, Fran smiled and said, "you're very welcome sweetie, after all you're my daughter now", Penelope sighed and said, "thanks Fran, I mean mom". Fran said, "you're very welcome honey", she then hugged her son and then as the couple headed off across the yard the family ran after them tossing birdseed at the happy couple.
The family then stood waving and shouting their congratulations to the happy couple until the truck carrying the newlyweds disappeared out of sight at the end of the driveway.
