Well, here it is! Sorry again it took so long! Very busy right now, but I am going to go back and edit the earlier chapters and fix the glaring mistakes. As for what happens at the end of this chapter, well, maybe I will write an M rated one shot, but only if you all would want it or read it. Let me know! Remember to review!
I have always loved New Years. It was one of the three times I knew I would see every single person in my family. Besides my Grandparent's anniversary in June and Easter I always saw parts of my family throughout the year. I was currently sitting on Malfoy's bed as he kept worrying. It was cute really. It would be the first time he ever did anything with the Potter/Weasley clan.
"Just put a shirt and let's go. You already know most of my cousins from school," I said falling back on the bed.
It wasn't that I didn't like looking at my boyfriend half dressed. I mean, he was gorgeous with his blonde hair that was now getting longer, covering a small part of his ears. He still had the grey eyes that used to torment me. Add in the fact that he is in as good of shape as I am, and I play a sport for a living, it isn't hard to gawk at him.
But I wasn't, because we were late. "Yes, but that was when I wasn't dating you." He told me sitting down next to my chest buttoning up a blue shirt.
"So?" I asked leaning up on his bed with my elbows. "It isn't like you act any different than when you were in school. Except the fact that I hated you almost up until the moment you left."
"Ha ha," Malfoy said finishing the last button on his shirt. He leaned down and snogged me. I could feel his hands in my fanned out hair. I pulled on his neck, taking our snog to another level as he laid next to me, pulling at my pant pockets, pulling my closer to him.
In Malfoy fashion, he pulled away from me, ending our snogging session. I glared. Was something completely from with me that my boyfriend wouldn't do much more with me than snog? Even in his apartment? In his bed?
I wasn't sure how to press on this subject. Malfoy was staring at me. I let out a sigh, sat up, and pushed myself off his bed. "Ready?" I asked.
He stood up and took my hand. I closed my eyes and with a loud crack I was standing in the field of my grandparents' house, The Burrow.
It was lit up and I could hear people laughing from the inside. I kept Malfoy's hand as I led him to my family. I could feel him tighten his hand in mine as my Grandpa saw us. He puts down his plate of whatever my Grandma has cooked down and walked towards us. "Hi Grandpa!" I smiled as we reach him; he pulled me into a tight hug only he could give.
"I've missed you, but it is next Christmas we will be with you," He told me letting go of me.
"Grandpa, this is Scorpius Malfoy. My boyfriend."
"Hello Sir," Malfoy said putting out his hand.
My grandpa stood looking at Malfoy. "Are you anything like your Grandfather?"
My mouth dropped, why he was bringing that up! Really!
"Not if my parents and I can help it," Malfoy said with a smile. I think his smile is contagious, because Grandpa smiled too and pulled him into a hug.
I gave my Grandpa a glare, he just shrugged. "Oi! Lily and Scorpius are here!" He called out to my whole family.
I stiffened up as everyone kept moving along, like it wasn't even a big deal that he was here. Maybe this would work. Maybe that it wouldn't be a bad thing that he was here!
Malfoy squeezed my hand as I took and we walked into my grandparents' house. Once we did I saw Rose and Nick talking in the corner. They looked like they were deep in conversation and Rose was blushing. I smiled to myself and put my head on Malfoy's shoulder, it was a good sight.
"Lily," I heard someone call. I turned around to see my parents talking with Nick's. I walked over to the couch where they were seated and moving closer I saw Uncle Ron and Hermione.
"Hello," I smiled leaning down to hug my family. "Uncle Ron, Aunt Hermione, this is Scorpius Malfoy, my boyfriend."
Ron nodded his head and then shook his hand. "Nice to meet you," Malfoy said letting go of his hand.
"So you are Draco's son?" Aunt Hermione said looking to my mum who nodded.
"Yes," My mum said. "Draco was Lily's healer when she was in the hospital."
Was no one going to let me forget that I did that! I looked up to see Malfoy smirking at me. Of course he knew I was in there, but the fact that he would hold it over my head every so often made me want to knock him off his broom.
"Yes, my father said she was one of his more interesting patients." Malfoy said I could even feel the smirk in his voice.
"Is that how you met then?" Nick's mother asked looking at me, I blushed.
"No," I told her, "We went to school together. I didn't like him at first."
"They almost killed each other," My dad added smiling, "That was an owl I never wanted to get."
"Things worked out for the better," Malfoy said grabbing my hand again.
"Yes," I added with a smile, we are going to go find Albus and find out what he has planned for tonight."
We said our goodbyes and I showed Malfoy the Burrow. He looked like a little kid in a candy store. It must be strange for him. Growing up in a big house with a small family when I came here and the small house was over flowing with people. I was about to show Malfoy the guardian before Hugo took me away to talk.
I didn't really want Malfoy to leave my side, but when Hugo took me away from him, I knew it had to be important.
He was my best friend.
"What's wrong?" I asked him as we walked up the stairs to Uncle Ron's old room. I could still hear our family chattering down the floors.
"Nothing, I just wanted to run something past you," He said with a smile and pulled out a small box with a diamond in the center surrounded by clear blue sapphires.
"Hugo, I'm flattered, but I am your cousin," I told him taking a step back.
"Very funny, you know who it is for," he said sitting on the old bed.
I know I should be excited, really I should but Hugo looked worried, and that is why I am too. "Are you trying to steal my flat mate? Because I don't think Malfoy would like it if I moved in with Lysander and Lorcan."
"Do you think I'm crazy?" He asked as I sat next to him on the bed. "I mean, we are seventeen, but we have been together since fifth year."
"Have you asked her dad yet?" I questioned. Hugo played with the box with in his hands.
"I want to when we get back from school. Your dad offered me a job and we would wait a year to plan and then get married."
"Have you talked with her about it?" I asked taking the box from him and looking at the ring. It was beautiful, something Shania would love.
"Yes, we've talked about it a lot, but not when it would happen. Have you two talked about it before? I don't want to look like an idiot if I ask and she says no."
I shook my head yes. We had talked about it before. Part of me wanted to be selfish. These are my best friends talking about getting married. Two of the four people who got me through all of my school years, who shared in my secrets. I wanted them happy, but how much more would this change?
"She loves you and would do anything for you, never reject you," I told him looking down at the ring again. We both looked at it. "Do it." I said pulling him into a hug. "Do it and we all will support you."
He hugged me tighter, "Will you help me make it perfect?"
I laughed a little, still hugging him. "I'm not a romantic, but sure."
We hugged for a little longer and talked about his plans and when he was going to ask before I noticed we had been gone for over an hour. We went back downstairs and that is when I saw it.
Malfoy was in the middle of a conversation with almost all the boy cousins and my brothers. They were laughing. I caught on to a mention of a person I knew went to Hogwarts, they must be talking about something I was too young to understand. I felt someone come up from behind me and hug me.
"You were so worried that he wouldn't fit in," it was my Mum. I put my hands up to hers and smiled.
"Guess I was wrong about my family," I told her as she moved to my side. "Mum, were you happy that you and dad got married so young?"
When the second war ended my Mum finished school then went to play for the Harpies. My dad finished training and became an Auror. They got married when she was twenty. My dad was twenty-one. After an accident during a game and almost losing James, she stopped playing and started to work for the paper and had Albus and me.
I always wondered if that was the life she wanted.
"Yes," she smiled looked over to my brothers. "I always wanted a family,"
"Just like you have always loved daddy?"
She nodded her head, "why all the sudden questions? Is there something you want to tell me?"
I shook my head no and looked to Malfoy. What did our future hold? Was it going to look like my Mum's? All I have ever dreamed of is to play Quidditch, what happens if that is taken away from me? I don't have a back-up plan.
I remember what Malfoy asked me in the small room on the roof, what I wanted to do with my life. He practically called me stupid for not wanting to do something else besides play.
Malfoy was right, even then.
"You don't have to have everything planned out Lily," My mum said taking my hand. "Life isn't about planning out the next steps, it is about doing what you love and the rest will follow. I wanted to play and have a family. I did both. There are so many players who have children and still play. Oliver Wood, you know his daughter."
"I know," I told her looking to Malfoy.
For the first time in my life, I am starting to see things clearly, see that my dreams and my talent can only take me so far. How long will it be until I want something more?
I think Malfoy sensed my unease once my Mum walked away. He came over and wrapped me in his arms. "You never told me that James was cool."
I knew he was teasing. Those two hated one another until I showed up with Malfoy. I smiled weakly then looked away.
Malfoy pulled me away from my family, called for our coats and we went outside. We sat down on the bench in the garden. The light flakes of snow were falling around us and the lights from inside were touching the snow like it was glass reflecting. He wrapped his arms around me and just waited for me to talk. I didn't know what to say.
So I said whatever came to my mind, the reason it felt like my clear future was falling all around me. "Hugo is going to purpose."
"Are you upset because you are going to lose your flat mate?" He asked leaning down to look at my face.
"No, I'm happy for them, really." I said with a small smile.
"And now you are thinking about your future," Malfoy said leaning away from me.
"How did you know?" Was I that easy to read?
"Because when my mates got married last year I wondered the same thing."
I put my hand to the heart necklace around my neck, feeling a calm beating next to my fast heartbeat. "How did you get over it?"
"I don't know, I was still trying to learn how to win you over," He smiled.
"And look how well that worked for you," I laughed. "Scorpius always the man with a plan."
"I'm sorry; did you just call me Scorpius?"
"I did, didn't I?" Scorpius leaned down and pulled my chin up to snog him. I put my cold fingers on his chest.
We snoged for another minute before the door opened. We pulled away quickly as Nick and Rose turned the corner and started to snog against it. I put my hand over my mouth to hold in a laugh.
"Maybe we should give them some privacy?" Scoripus whispered in my ear. I stood up and we walked past them.
They didn't notice. We got to the door when he stopped me. It was two minutes until Midnight. We walked in and my dad handed us some glasses as the New Year came in.
After the New Year came in we hadn't really had another chance to talk. Once we walked back inside Scorpius was dragged away by James and they started talking about the government in Russia.
I talked with Teddy and Uncle Bill about Quidditch.
It was half past midnight when Scorpius and I apperated back to his flat.
I had left my training gear at his flat, since I was practicing with the team in the off season. I went into his small kitchen and got water as Scorpius followed. It took a drink of water before he leaned into me. I sat the water down on the counter I was pinned against.
I leaned up and snogged him. Pulling him down to me with his shirt, he lifted me up onto the counter.
When he pulled away and took a step back, holding my hands. I tried not to feel a pang of hurt. "Whatever the future holds, I just know I want it to be with you."
"What do you mean? Like getting married and having children?" I asked lacing our fingers together; he stepped closer to me again.
"If that is what you want." He told me.
"You don't want to get married?" I asked, not meaning to.
"I do, but not today, not right now." He stepped closer again, "someday when we are both ready."
"I don't want to give up playing," I confessed.
"I'm not asking you to," He told me giving me a snog again. This time it was slow, and drawn out. Still perfect.
"What if I don't want to have children?" He asked me after our snog.
"How would your family react to that?" I said with a gasp and a smile. He knew I was joking.
"They will get over it," He shrugged. "Or maybe I will, someday."
"As long as I get a say in it," I said playing with his hair.
"When do you need to get back tomorrow?" He asked with hand running up and down my arm.
"Practice starts at nine, and then I think I will take the train back, I only have two times left on it, right?"
He nodded and snogged me again his hands moving to my legs. " Scorpius I love you," I told him.
"I love you too." He said in between our snogs. I scooted closer to him on the counter, no space in between our bodies. "Stay with me tonight."
