Well, sorry again for taking so long on this update! I am re-editing the old chapters and I am writing the one-shot it will be rated M and should be up soon. It will be called Never Will I Forget.
I hope to have the next chapter by the end of the week. Please Review. I do read them all and work the story around it.
I can't focus, not since New Year's Eve. The fact that my N.E.W.T's are today and graduation from Hogwarts is two days after that doesn't help my case.
Hugo still hasn't popped the question and it is almost unbearable for me to keep this a secret.
Lorcan is now dating a sixth year. At least she is somewhat enjoyable to be around. It is just strange having someone else around us when we study.
Lysander also just informed me that he is going to Romania to work with dragons like my uncle.
I've been looking out the window to the light reflecting off the rain. Every moment I spend here at school is precious, and yet, every moment I am not back out in the world makes it seem like I have two lives: the school Lily, and the Lily who is ready to take on the world.
Part of me will always miss this place, I mean sure, I will always miss the late night conversations with the girls in my room. I will miss waking up and not having to run three miles then hop on a broom.
My other half is dying to be back on my broom, playing and being with Scorpius. Letters are not enough anymore. When we first started dating, I was always happy to see him, but now I crave to be around him all the time. Perhaps it is because he makes me feel like a grown up, or that he is always telling me how wonderful his work is going and that he misses me.
Since New Year's he has been having lunch at least twice a week with my dad and brothers. It is completely strange to have them bonding without me there, but at least he is still alive.
"Lily," I hear my name from across the table. Hugo had thick jam dripping from his toast as he put a hand in front of my face moving it back and forth like a pendulum. Shania was just laughing.
I blinked a few times before he comes into my focus again. "What?"
"Your owl just dropped a letter in front of you three minutes ago."
"Oh," I stumble before picking up the letter in Scorpius' handwriting. I tore it open as fast as I could. He sends me letters every other day, and I send him one on the other days.
I won't fill you in on many details; just know I love you and that you will do great on your tests. See you in a few days.
Scorpius
"Since when do you not refer to Malfoy as well, Mafloy?" I hear Lorcan say taking a seat next to me.
"Since when do you read my letters," I asked back putting his words next to my heart necklace.
"Just because we are all best friends doesn't mean Lily and I tell you boys everything in our lives," Shania laughs.
I smile at her. She knows, she really knows everything about my life, but she tells me information about my cousin I don't always care to know about.
"He said see me in a few days," I told her, putting my note in my robe. "I don't know how though, I have training."
"So? It isn't like you will be living in a protected castle anymore, just down the hall."
I sighed, she had a valid point. Besides the fact that I will get in maybe two practices before we play America in our opening game doesn't mean I won't see him. Right?
I took Hugo's toast out of his hand and take a bite before he grunts something I can't hear. I took another bite before all the seventh years went to the library to take our final tests. They used to be in the Great Hall, but since my Uncle George and Fred pulled a prank, they are now in the library.
Lysander took my hand and squeezed it as we went to an open table, "Relax, in a few days we will be eating our own body weight in candy on the train ride home."
There is something so magical about watching Hogwarts. My daddy always said that Hogwarts was his first home. I remember times when I wanted nothing more to be where I am. On my last train ride home, most of the times I wished for it were after I had detention from fighting with Malfoy.
Strange how I am jumping up and down to see him when the train finally lets us off. We all pulled out trunks behind us and got off all in a line with each other. Our parents always stand by each other, waiting for us. We turned the corner and saw them all smile and laughing. I don't know how we got to them all as fast as we did, but I found myself in my daddy's arms. I pulled mine around his neck and hugged him back just as tight.
He kissed the top of my head and whispered, "I've missed you my Lilybug."
I smiled and told him I missed him as well. While most students went home for Easter holiday, I was in Northern Europe practicing with the team.
He let go of me and I hugged my mum and my brothers. Teddy was there with my not so much of a baby cousin, whose hair just turned the same color as mine.
Quinn and James were even there. I must have missed something when I was gone, but Quinn looked a little⦠plump. "Something you need to tell me?" I asked, why not be blunt about it?
"I'm due in October?" Quinn smiled. "I thought Scorpius told you. Or your brother at Easter."
I shook my head, "No, I wasn't home for Easter." Maybe Scorpius didn't tell me because he thought James would?
"Oh, well, you scold him after dinner," Quinn said taking James' hand into hers.
"Is he meeting us there?" I asked hugging Aunt Hermione good-bye.
"No," James said taking my trunk, "He said you are having supper with his family tonight."
"Oh," That's all I could really say. He didn't mention it to me in a letter; he didn't tell me a word of it. I nodded my head, pretending like I knew exactly what I was talking about. "I'm meeting him at his apartment in an hour."
"An hour?" Quinn laughed, "Do not be late with his mother, I would bet you anything his grandparents will be there too."
I stopped in my tracks; you think he would tell me things like this. I looked to my dad who shrugged. "He has a lot on his mind I'm sure."
"Your right," I nodded, "Want to remind me of what it all is?"
Never will I forget what my dad told me.
I arrived at Scorpius' apartment and walked into his bedroom. He was half dressed when I sat on his bed. He smiled, leaned down and kissed me. I returned it before pulling away.
"Nice to see you too, Lily," He said moving to his closet and putting on a shirt.
"Well, if Quinn wouldn't have told me about tonight, I don't know who would have," I said putting my hands on my knees.
"I told you in my letters they wanted to have supper with us," He sighed buttoning up his shirt. I stood up and walked around his room. There was a picture of the two of us when we were in school.
Back when we hated each other.
Back then life was easier.
"Must have gotten lost like your other letters," I said picking up the picture to see myself glaring at my boyfriend. It was taken in my fourth year; we were in Hogsmeade at my Uncle's store fighting over something I can't remember. At least why I was mad at him now was for a valid reason.
"Do we have to do this now, Lily?" He asked putting his hands on my shoulders. "My grandparents will be there and it is going to take every ounce of my being not to scream at them."
"What side?" I asked fixing the collar on his shirt. He put his hands on mine, and then put our foreheads together. I can save yelling at him for later.
Mr. and Mrs. Greengrass were tall and had pointed noses. Maybe it was the way they were looking at me across the massive dinner table was what was throwing me off.
Everyone was quiet as we sat there. I was picking at my food, holding Scorpius' hand under table. The polite conversation had died about ten minutes after we had shown up. I opened my mouth to take another bite of mashed potatoes when Mrs. Greengrass asked me a question.
"So, Miss. Potter," she said holding her napkin in her lap, not looking at me. "You are the youngest of three?"
I nodded my head, "Yes, but Teddy my Dad's Godchild has lived with us. Even before I was born."
"So, do you want four children like your parents?" I could sense a little haste in her voice, or rather, judgment.
I didn't know what to say Scorpius had already stated he didn't want children. "I-urm- well we haven't really talked about it."
"Haven't talked about it? Well what about your career? When you get married you will stop playing. You can't possibly be a Malfoy woman and not stay at home and a child."
"My mum played when she was pregnant with James," I said moving my food around on my plate. I wasn't going to mention she almost got killed when she did.
"Why would she do something like that?" She demanded. "I know you are a half blood, but we are trying to look past that, but to put the heir of a noble family in danger is-"
"Grandma, Lily can play as long as she wants because I don't want children," Scorpius snapped, "I also thought we were all past bloodlines."
"I went to school with your grandmother and father," she continued looking at me.
"I'm glad you got to meet them, maybe you could tell my father stories," I said with a smile on my face. I dropped my fork on plate, hearing the sound in the silent room.
"What do you mean you don't want to have children, Scorpius" His mother asked, her voice hurt.
I looked to him as well, he never told me why, but I never questioned his choices. "Maybe it is because he wants to focus on work. No matter where it might take him," I smiled at him.
His expression dropped and his face went pale as the blood rushed from his face. I took my hand from his.
"I think we should leave, Lily has practice in the morning," Scorpius said standing up throwing his napkin on the table.
I heard a loud popping sound as Draco Malfoy entered the room. The smile slowly fell from his face as he saw us standing, I hand my arms folded across my chest. He looked to his in-laws then back to us.
"Leaving?" He asked his son pulling his into a hug. Scorpius hugged him back before he pulled away walking to his mother.
Draco nodded his head to me and walked out of the room. I followed him out quickly.
The last time I saw him, excluding Christmas, was when he had a screaming match with Scorpius in his apartment.
I bit my lip as he stopped in the entry way of the house. "I think I should say sorry for their behavior?"
I shrugged, "No offence, I expected nothing less."
He nodded his head slowly and rubbed his eyes, "Why don't you and Scorpius come over when you have time. Just the four of us, is that alright?"
I stared at him. Was this the same man who was screaming at his son for being in the same room as me? "Yes, that sounds fine."
"Good, good," Draco said.
"Mr. Malfoy," I started. I was going to ask the burning questions that I had been keeping to myself since Christmas.
"Draco, please."
"Draco, why were you talking to the Head Auror at Christmas, alone in a room?"
He looked at me like I had caught his hand in the cookie jar. "Well, he came to visit with your father and he had asked to speak with me in private."
"What about?"
I know being nosey, but everything about that night didn't add up. Why Nick was there and Scorpius wasn't.
"He was asking about Scorpius and the Department of Mysteries. The ministry in America doesn't have one. Scorpius took him on a tour three days before the party."
I nodded and looked for my boyfriend.
"I would never harm your relationship with my son, Lily. It might have taken us some time to come to terms with it, but we support our son and his choices. Something I wish my parents would have done for me. I hear you are like your mother? You seem to have her charm and looks, I know you have both your parents temper, but we know what our son sees in you."
"Thank you," I whispered pulling him into a hug.
"Come back and visit," He told me as Scorpius came into the room. I pulled away from his father and took Scorpius' hand as we apperated back to his apartment.
I fell back onto his couch as he sighed, undoing the buttons by his neck. "Do you really think taking your shirt off is going to seduce me enough to avoid this conversation?" I asked as he undid another button.
"Maybe?" He asked sitting next to me, kissing my neck.
"When we you going to tell me?" I asked moving out of his reach.
"Lily, it's late," He sighed reaching for me again. I stood up, pacing around the room.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Who told you would be a better question."
"My dad, he thought I knew." I told him, I could feel my temper rising, and I know he could tell. We have made each other upset enough to know how this worked.
"I didn't tell your dad," he defended, standing up.
"He is Harry Potter, the head of the Auror department and everyone's choice to take over after Kingsley in two year; you don't think he would know?"
"I'm sorry; I could have sworn I was dating Lily Potter, not her father."
"Well I thought I was dating someone who was honest with me!"
"When was I supposed to tell you Lily? In a letter? That isn't exactly something you tell your girlfriend in a letter."
"No, but you should at least beat my dad to the chance!"
"When could I?" Scorpius snapped. "In case you needed reminding you have been at school. Lots of things happen outside of that Castle."
"You told James," I about screamed. "You told James before me. He is married, so you missed your chance to date him."
"I haven't given them an answer," He said pulling my hands away from my chest.
"I just got out of school, finally when we can finally find balance in our lives and now this," I whispered putting my head into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my head.
"I don't have to say yes. I can say no to the promotion and stay right here in England."
"No, you have always wanted this," I told him sitting down. He followed taking my hands. "You have always wanted to be the head of the department; this would help you get there, even if it is Germany."
"But not away from you and my family," Malfoy said tilting my head up to look him in the eyes.
I want to be selfish, I want to just tell him good and go to bed, but I know that can't happen. Maybe that's what loving someone is about, forgetting everything you want and desire for someone else.
The question that keeps running through my head is if tonight one of the last nights we ever have together again? If he moves away, will we be able to last? School was painful enough, now this?
"You have to do what you have to do Scorpius," I whisper putting my lips on his. He instantly pulled me closer our chest moving together as he put his hand in my hair.
"What time do you have to report tomorrow?" He asked me after we had snogged for a few minutes.
"Five," I told him pulling him on top of me kissing his earlobe. I felt his legs on the other side of mine and I undid more buttons on his shirt.
"Are your parents waiting on you?" He asked crashing his lips onto mine.
I pushed my hips into his pulling the remains of his shirt off. He reacted my tugging on my hair. "We can't start this tonight," he told my neck while kissing it.
"What about the job?" I asked looking up into his stormy eyes.
"We will make the right choice for us," He told me kissing me again.
I pushed off the couch, leaving my thoughts myself.
One of us haves to give up something; I just hope I don't have to give up him.
