Suiryu was confused on why he was treated far more neutrally than normal. Orotsu still treated him the same, as he was a valued employee, but the others just gave side-long glances and sighs. He finally went to Orotsu and asked, "Um…is there something wrong? Why am I getting the vibe that I did something bad?"
"Maybe you should ask Siren," Orotsu finally said.
"Siren?! I…what did I do to her?" he frowned.
"As the others will not tell you, I will. I value you greatly. The others do, too, but you crushed the emotions of a new family member. Apparently, you catered to fans more than Siren," Orotsu said lightly. "She went outside to help you and saw you swarmed and flaunting yourself around other girls. She tried to get your attention. You didn't notice her. She felt ignored. It broke any feelings she had for you. She wants nothing to do with you now. You are to treat her like family going forward if you wish to be treated normally again."
"I…I didn't…" he paused and blinked.
"You are a showman. She doesn't want that," Orotsu sighed and pat his shoulder with a tentacled arm. "You will regain some status if you apologize to her. But do not expect any other feelings than family from her. Okay?"
"Oh…" Suiryu grimaced. "I…yeah…"
"Lie low for now and work with me," the octopus monster gently advised. Suiryu found himself restocking flour and getting lost in his thoughts. I went outside to open a crate. I heard talk about me and giggling. I saw the girls and…I did introduce myself. How couldn't I? I mean…wait…I was letting them feel my arms…I…shit! And I know I saw Siren, but…damn…I did this to myself…
After fixing the flour, he moved inside the main restaurant and walked over to where Siren was sitting with Mitsumi and Saitama. Mitsumi looked over and frowned. Saitama gave a blank stare at his disciple and said, "You messed up. Own up to it. I know Orotsu told you things. I heard it."
"You heard that from the kitchen?" Mitsumi asked with a raised brow.
"Yep. If I want to, I can even hear phone calls if I'm close enough. It's weird. But, yeah, you messed up. She's your sister now. You're the one that wanted to think of being around giggling gossip girls. It's on you," Saitama said with a touch of boredom.
"I'm sorry, Siren! I…" Suiryu started, but Siren rose up a hand.
"I get it. It's okay. You like being fawned over. In the middle of a crowd that's all about you. Well, you can continue doing that. I'll applaud you and encourage you to find the right girl. I'm not that girl," Siren said. "I thought we had something. But after that? And then not even being acknowledged by you? I mean…heh…I guess I had my hopes up a bit too much on meeting you only last night. I'll still help you train. I'll see you as my brother. Nothing more. Okay?"
"Okay…" Suiryu frowned again and walked away. He knew he lost something important. He couldn't believe it.
"So you know, your training may get to be a touch harder," Zenchu said on approaching him. "Time to start being alert on your routines."
"What?" Suiryu blinked.
"Siren came to us in tears over what you did. I vowed to kick you around a bit more for her. I won't kill you. But you'll be a bit more bruised and battered," Zenchu said and flicked his tail on walking off. "And expect the others to do this, too. Saitama said your training is getting soft. Time to toughen up!"
"Shit!" Suiryu scowled and sighed. He looked over to see Rendor and Tatsumaki coming in to sit and get breakfast. Inichi now informed them of what happened. Rendor gave a small growl, but he remained calm. Tatsumaki rose a brow, but Rendor shook his head at her.
Five minutes later had representatives from the Hero Association walking in. Chikao was quick with Kamiko to set them at various tables to get served breakfast. While the door was open, a small robot flew in to land on the table Mitsumi, Saitama and Siren were at. A small drawer opened to reveal a communicator ring with a note for it to be for Siren.
"What?" Siren blinked and took the ring. A small, glowing button was activated on it and she pressed it.
"Hello! It's me. Metal Knight. I was hoping this would be a better way for us to converse whenever time allowed. If you wish to talk, just press the button. It will ping me directly. If I'm busy, a light will flash blue. Don't worry, though. I will get back to you, Siren," he chuckled. She slipped the ring on and was delighted that it fit perfectly.
"You gave her a phone?" Mitsumi grinned.
"You could say that…" he admitted.
"Oh. We were thinking of a keycard system to get in and out of the restaurant. What do you think?" Saitama asked.
"That is a great idea. I'll get on that for you," Metal Knight agreed.
"Also, if anyone tampered with the locks, it would shock them," Mitsumi said with a chuckle.
"That makes it even more worthwhile and fun!" Metal Knight laughed.
"Now, a question," Siren said. "This ring. Can you also listen in on conversations with it?"
"That's a good question! But no. It is strictly for conversing with you. You have my word," Metal Knight vowed. "You've been in reconnaissance for a while? Or just familiar with it?"
"You forget," Siren chuckled. "It was said I am never seen by cameras. I go invisible. I become untraceable. I can also block my thoughts from being heard. I can't hear others, but they can't hear me or find me."
"That's both interesting and frightening."
"I know. I also have an original form that is much like the gargoyles of cathedrals and old houses. I know how to play statue," she giggled in her gravelly tone. "Have I found your place? No. I was never interested. But I did infiltrate into other places that many would have killed me on sight for. Will I tell you those stories? Maybe. Treat me with respect with my family. Maybe in time I'll help you with things. A partnership. Will it become something more? Won't know."
"I do have a lot of secrets," he admitted. "And, in truth…I hope something more does come of this."
"Oh?" she asked with a peaked interest. "Well…I made that mistake once. I don't think I'm ready yet."
"I know. As I said, this is only to talk," he agreed.
"Hmm. If I press the button twice to signify urgency…would it work?" she asked. There was a pause and a sound of keys being typed on was easily heard.
"It will now! I didn't think of an emergency need. It's set. Twice for urgent. Once for chat. It will be the same if attempt to reach you. If you're busy while I'm trying to reach, press the button three times. So, one for talk, two for urgent, and three for wait. What's going on now?" he asked.
"Some of your work friends are here. I think you can listen in," Siren said.
"Thank you," he said genuinely.
"So…what is this meeting about?" Saitama asked with his usual blank stare at the Hero Association members.
"Master Saitama, was Bane to be here, too?" Genos asked.
"Oh. Inichi?" Saitama asked. Inichi nodded and focused to bring the powerful hero to them. Bane waved to everyone and settled down to get served something and listen in.
"Right," the first board member said. "We know you were resting, but this is drawing concern. We brought Stitch with us."
"That guy?! Aw, man…" Kamikaze muttered.
"Oh?" Tacki frowned.
"He's…got a stick up his ass sometimes…" Kamikaze snorted. Bane chuckled with agreement.
"And for good reason, Atomic Samurai!" the man said on standing up. He appeared to be a middle-aged man with short, grey hair parted to the right. He wore a red tie, a black business suit with a white shirt, but it was his bulbous nose that really gave away who he was.
"Ohhh! He used the 'big boy' name with you," Tacki clucked her tongue.
"Quiet," Kamikaze grunted and kept her in his lap.
"We found unknown seismic activity at the far north. It's not normal, and we need it investigated. As you, Caped Baldy, are one of the strongest ones here with Terrible Tornado, we need it investigated," Stitch said.
"Ah…excuse me?" Mitsumi frowned. "I'm pretty strong, too."
"I don't think a bunch of fancy fans are going to do anything," Stitch started. Then his jaw dropped when Mitsumi gracefully leapt over to the stage to let her fans form around her on their own. The deadly blades flicked out and aimed at him. Saitama rolled his eyes at the man now.
"They are sentient. You pissed me off and them. Apologize," she said sternly. "I'm the last known Wind Crane Clan assassin left. I have all ten fan sets, included a secretive eleventh fan set to help control their actions. Retract your comment! Now!"
"Ah…" Stitch gaped.
"Did you not see the videos of the desert? Or are you playing stupid?" Saitama asked and moved to stand with her on the stage. "She called forth the Eye of the Meteor. I punched it. Her mentor, Wind Crane, shattered all of it with a vocal call to make flying cranes detect more monsters. She is just under me in power. She's coming with me."
"And, if it is a monster that needs to be saved, Mitsumi is the real one that can do it. And you wanted her to stay behind? Ugh…" Kamikaze rolled his eyes.
"This is true. A good number of us can vouch for this," Bane said with the others agreeing in full.
"I'm sorry!" Stitch said quickly to the menacing fans. "I was…am…always very busy with things. I didn't see the footage yet."
"Fine," Mitsumi said and let Saitama help calm the fans back down to settle again on her belt straps.
"I can relay it to you," Inichi said. "Ah. I am Inichi. You may have heard talk about me. If not, well, now you have met me."
"How can you show me the images?" Stitch frowned. Then his eyes widened when the visions were given over. His eye was even twitching at the mass show of power that was revealed to him. "Give me…just a minute…"
"I'll make sure to get him up to speed," Metal Knight said from Siren's ring.
"I shall do the same," Genos nodded.
"Is information always so broken up and mismanaged in the Hero Association management?" Mitsumi frowned. "We've been around for two weeks and this guy has no idea? Was he living under a rock?"
"Ah…" the second board member coughed to hide laughter.
"So…up north is like…cold weather?" Saitama frowned.
"You could say that," Stitch said.
"Mitsumi? Do you have any warm clothes?" Saitama asked her.
"I don't think so," she frowned. "Tacki could make some for us."
"I won't need it, but you do," he said.
"Can I just wear you?" she asked softly to get him grinning at her.
"Anytime," he chuckled and kissed her.
"I'll be fine, too, when I revert to my monster form. As if Tatsi would leave me behind," Rendor chuckled and pat Tatsumaki's back. "I can also help sniff out whatever it is. Zenchu can easily go into any dark areas to let us know what's up."
"Too bad I can't wear a lava coat like you," Mitsumi sighed.
"You will never let me live that down, eh?" Saitama rolled his eyes.
"How can I? Stupidly strong husband…" she muttered and got kissed.
"My amazingly delicate wife," he said back and squeezed her.
"Did you both get married?" the third board member said.
"Not legally binding. But by Wind Crane Clan traditions. So it does not count. Saitama still wants me to get pregnant before doing the legal wedding," Mitsumi nodded. "Anyways, do we even have fabric for making winter clothing? It would be good for emergency needs, too."
"To acquire some on such short notice…" Inichi frowned.
"If you get it, I can make it quick," Tacki said. "That's not a problem."
"Ah. Kianna and King. Can you both make a quick trip down the street to the fabric store?" Inichi asked.
"Sure," King nodded and got up with Kianna. "Five minutes?"
"Maybe ten. Oh! We have the push carts in the back! We can use them to bring the fabric over until you can grab them, Inichi," Kianna chuckled.
"Kianna? Weren't you a wolf?" the first board member asked.
"I was. I got cured," she nodded. "And King won't let me go. We may get married. Possibly."
"Not saying no," King chuckled and led her out to get the needed fabric.
"I'll let them know what to get when they inform me of what is available," Inichi mused. "Fubuki, did you wish to join us?"
"It would be nice," Fubuki nodded.
"And your group of super powered monkeys?" Saitama droned out from where he was still standing with Mitsumi.
"They're fine. I still check on them," Fubuki sighed and laughed softly.
"The moment Tacki has warm clothes made, we'll go," Saitama said and hopped off the stage. He turned to help Mitsumi down carefully and carried her to their table. "I wanted to rest…"
"Unless you leave me here and go take care of it?" Mitsumi smiled.
"No," Saitama said with a grunt and a shake of his head. "Never. You are always with me. I don't care what anyone else says."
"I know," she smiled and pressed into him. He sat down with her in his lap and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"Even if you don't do anything, you are with me," Saitama said and squeezed her.
"I wonder if my fans can hold a heated charge for a long time…" Mitsumi pondered out loud. Saitama looked at her curiously. "I mean, if it's cold weather, can we transport heat?"
"Hmm. I wouldn't know," Saitama shrugged. For ten minutes, they were served up something light to eat with the others. They looked over when Kianna and King came back with the small wagons filled with various fabrics. Inichi was able to bring them over to Tacki to let her get to work.
"What do I make?" she asked.
"Heavy long coats," Inichi said. "Enough material to cover a whole person. Maybe even two per coat."
"On it!" Tacki said and got to work. "Give me ten minutes!"
"Ten minutes to make a coat?" the first board member asked.
"Yeah. She likes to call it…clothing puzzles. She's insane when it comes to creating things, fixing things and…whatever else you can think of," Kamikaze chuckled. "Now if only she'd stop saying things that make me cringe!"
"Don't even. I'm having your kids. You owe me that," Tacki replied easily to get him grumbling. Bane grinned at his friend and got a rewarding glare back.
"Kids?" Stitch frowned.
"Yeah. She's having twins. From me. I'm gonna be a dad," Kamikaze shrugged. "But she built the stage here, redid a lot of the furniture…"
"I like to keep busy," Tacki nodded and got a kiss pressed to her mouth from him. "Oh! Your haori has a tear! What did you do?!"
"What?" Kamikaze blinked and found her quickly patching up a shoulder piece that came apart. "I didn't even notice that!"
"Fixed! Back to the coat!" she grinned and giggled at the hug he gave her.
"Do you think you can fix a button real quick?" the fourth board member said. "It started to unravel, and I just can't get it to stay for the life of me!"
"Come here," she said and quickly examined it. "Well, duh! You tried to put it back on backwards! Hold on…"
Within a minute it was fixed back to the way it should be. The board member was shocked. "You fixed that…within a minute flat…"
"Yep! And no. I don't wanna be a hero. With me being pregnant, I know Kamikaze would flip out if anything happens to me," Tacki said quickly.
"She's right," he muttered and chewed the stick in his mouth.
"You should really change that out," Tacki said with a grimace at him.
"I do! I don't chew the same one for days on end," he grunted. Mitsumi was giggling softly at the whole thing. Siren was just amazed at how quickly Tacki was able to make clothing.
"Do you think you can make me a dress later? It would be nice," Siren chuckled. Tacki gave her a thumbs up and pointed at the fabric to get looked at. Siren was quick to head over and start looking through the box now.
"Siren, can I send over some fabric?" Metal Knight asked through the ring.
"Huh? Oh. If you want to," Siren said with a shrug.
"I have an idea of something that may work for your coloring," he chuckled. The small robot on the table flew out and was replaced with a much larger one after five minutes. Tacki had already made the coat and having Mitsumi try it on. The coloring was deep red with heavy cotton lining. It was filled with insulating cotton, and the outside had a bit of weatherproof vinyl overlay. The zipper front was tested to ensure no heat was let out. Tacki was quick to start working on a few more coats, and Rendor requested a nice blanket.
"It's beautiful!" Mitsumi beamed on trying the coat on. "Wow…I'm getting warm already! Saitama, come here. This should also be large enough for you, too, to fit with me in this."
"Oh?" he asked and moved to settle into the large coat with her. He turned and put his arms around her. "Huh. I like this…"
"Nothing bad right now…" she warned and got a lusty kiss pressed to her mouth. "Maybe later…?"
"Hmm. Done," he grinned and looked at the others there. "Okay. This works. When do we go?"
"As soon as you're ready," the first board member said.
"What fabric is this?" Tacki asked and pulled out the shimmery, dark red fabric from Metal Knight's box. "It's not velvet, satin, silk or anything else I know of! A bit stretchy…easy to work with, though…"
"It's a bit of a spandex blend with the same fabric used for space exploration," Metal Knight said. Tacki blinked at this and got out a measuring tape to get Siren's measurements. "I had an idea of how it can be utilized. I also have a good design idea."
"You tell me and I'll get it done," Tacki agreed.
"I'm starting to sweat in this…" Mitsumi said and let Saitama help remove it. "You didn't even sweat?!"
"Nope. I stopped doing that, too…" Saitama shrugged. She shook her head with disbelief and he chuckled. "Anyways, let's go."
"We can leave by helicopter from the Hero Association," the first board member said. Inichi rose up his hands to show he was going to help. "Oh! Right. Ah…here's the coordinates…"
"Don't be ridiculous!" Stitch said. "We'll be going into cold weather! Can you transport without any form of weather resistance?"
"I can transport you into the deepest part of the ocean," Inichi said with irritation. Mitsumi now walked over to gently calm the situation.
"Mr. Stitch," Mitsumi said calmly with Saitama coming up right behind her. "Inichi's way of travel far surpasses any known locomotion. I'll wear the coat and have Saitama with me. Inichi is rarely bothered by weather conditions. He even keeps us dry in rain! I'm sure we'll be fine."
"I'm also not really bothered by the cold. We'll be fine," Rendor chuckled.
"How are you not bothered by the cold?" Stitch asked him. Rendor stood up and let his monster form come forth. He stretched himself out to be as tall as he could be and gave a toothy grin.
"Get it?" Rendor asked.
"Ah…yeah…" Stitch gaped. Tatsumaki giggled and floated next to him.
"I'm riding your shoulder outside. Not enough space here," she said.
"That's fine, Tatsi," Rendor chuckled and licked her cheek. She squeaked at that to get Mitsumi laughing with Saitama.
"You have a rough tongue!" Tatsumaki said. Then she blinked and whispered to him. Inichi slapped a hand over his mouth to keep quiet.
"Ah…eh…well…" Rendor found himself speechless. "Later."
"Okay," she grinned and cuddled into him.
"She's gross," Saitama said to Mitsumi.
"Quiet!" Mitsumi hissed and whispered to Saitama. Now he looked at her with an amused smile.
"Been a while since we did that, eh? Yeah. Let's finish this and go home. Where are we going?" Saitama asked. Inichi showed he had the location.
"Master Saitama? Should I assist?" Genos asked.
"I think we'll be good. Unless you wanted to record something?" Saitama asked. Genos pressed a kiss to Kamiko's mouth and was quick to join his master.
"I'm ready!" Genos nodded. Mitsumi put the heavy coat back on, and Saitama was quick to join her in it when they got outside.
"You know I'm going!" Zenchu grunted and made his way to join them.
"Let's see what's going on," Inichi said and placed a bubble around Fubuki, Genos, Zenchu, Mitsumi, Saitama, Rendor and Tatsumaki. "Everyone have warm coats?"
"I do!" Mitsumi said.
"Tacki made one for me," Fubuki said and snuggled into her coat.
"I no longer feel weather conditions," Genos said.
"I have Tatsi," Rendor said to let her snuggle into his mane. "But, I did have Tacki make a blanket. Just in case."
"Then let us investigate," Inichi nodded and was quick to transport them to north-most point of the land to see what was causing these unknown tremors. Between myself and Miss Tatsumaki, it may be only ten minutes of exploration. We'll get to the bottom of this and report with enough time to rest before our trip to the night market for fireworks.
