Disney Infinity: Toy Box Adventures
Episode 8: See You There
Our episode begins with Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope relaxing in front of the Niceland Apartment building.
"What are going to do this weekend? Nothing's going on." Ralph said.
"I don't know." Vanellope responded.
They soon hear screeching tires. "Kid, it's Scrooge!" They finish their root beer quick and continue cleaning a car. They see Rocket, Scrooge, and Donald.
"All right, so that's tonight. Don't forget." Rocket said.
"We'll be there." Scrooge said.
"See you there." Rocket told them before driving off.
"What was that all about?" Ralph asked.
"Beats me." Vanellope shrugged.
"Ralph, Vanellope! Do you have any ideas for your costumes?" Donald asked.
"Costumes?" The two asked.
"Rocket's throwing a birthday party for Princess Anna." Scrooge explained. "Apparently, it's a costume birthday party."
"Let me see that flyer." Vanellope takes the flyer and looks at it. It reads: 'Party. Invite only! See you there.'
"What?! Invite only?" Ralph gasps.
"You two did get invited, right?" Scrooge asked.
"We didn't even know there was a party." Ralph admitted. "Did you know there was a party?"
"No, I didn't." Vanellope answered.
"We didn't even know there was a party." Ralph finished.
"Oh, well…" Scrooge began before taking the flyer. "Maybe you weren't invited." The two looked at each other.
Later, Rocket is seen placing cans of soda into a barrel full of ice. Ralph and Vanellope walk by. "Hey, Rocket. Uh, we heard you're having a party tonight. What time should we show up?"
"Hmm… let's see. I was thinking…" Rocket pondered before putting the rest of the sodas in before turning to them. "Never! You're not invited!" He puts more into the barrel and drives off.
Back at the apartment building, Ralph and Vanellope are in the former's room. She groans. "What's his problem?! Why won't he invite us to his party?"
"Kid, I think I've got a good idea why he's not inviting us to the party." Ralph realized.
"Really? Why?" She asked.
"Remember when you were choking on your breakfast this morning?" Ralph asked her.
(Flashback)
At breakfast, Vanellope is enjoying her breakfast before she starts choking on something. She gags. Rocket laughs.
"Look at her face!" Rocket laughs.
"Oh no, she's choking! Don't worry kid, I got you!" Ralph said before applying the Heimlich maneuver. Rocket laughs before Vanellope spits out a big wad of bread, which landed in Rocket's glass of soda, splashing it all over his face.
"Aah! Nasty! Your choke wad splashed soda in my face!" Rocket squealed.
(End Flashback)
"Hey, that wasn't our fault. I could've died." Vanellope argued. "Besides, we got him another soda. Of course, we knew how that turned out."
(Flashback)
Rocket squeals after the soda was splashed in his face. "Ugh! Quit your whining! I got another soda, you big baby." She brings it over to him, but she slips on a can on the floor. "Whoa!" The can makes her slip backwards and accidentally splash more in Rocket's face. "Oops." Rocket screams in a frenzy and smashes the table, still wailing.
(End Flashback)
"Yep, that's probably why he's not inviting us to his party. We should go apologize." Ralph suggests.
They go over to the Quadrant and knock on the door. Rocket answers. "What?"
"Hey, Rocket, we're sorry about the soda this morning. So we brought my arcade cabinet as a peace offering. You can borrow it for your party." Ralph apologized.
"One, I have no clue what you're talking about, and two, I'm kind of busy right now. But I'll still take your game." He wheels the cabinet inside. "Hey, Groot, I found this old video game cabinet outside! Let's see what happens when we put it in the freezer!"
"Ralph, you said that was going to work." Vanellope said.
"I know. I know." Ralph said walking away.
"He better not trash that cabinet. Those things are hard to find."
"Come on."
Later, outside the party tent, the two drive into view. "Ah man, there's no way he's inviting us. We already said sorry. What else can we do?" Vanellope asked.
"Oh, I know what to do."
"What?"
"We just make Rocket think that we don't want to go to his party."
"Oh, reverse psychology." Vanellope realized.
"Exactly. If he thinks we're not into it, then he'll really want us to be there."
"Nice." Vanellope complimented.
"Just act like the party's a bore and watch the invitations come rolling in." Ralph drives up to Rocket. "Hey, Rocket. We decided not to come to your party."
"Fine with me. I wasn't planning on inviting you two anyway, so scram!" Rocket responds.
"So much for that idea." Vanellope whispered to her friend.
"Rocket, we're sorry about the soda." Ralph tries to speak with again.
"What are you talking about?! Didn't I tell you to get lost?!" Rocket yelled.
"You know what? Forget it." Ralph drives off.
Later that night, Ralph and Vanellope are back in the apartment. The latter sighs. "I'd ask if you want to play a video game, but we already gave away our cabinet, didn't we?"
"Yeah, we did." Ralph remembered.
"Well, I'll bet the party will be lame anyway. It's just going to be Scrooge, Donald, and the Guardians sitting around doing nothing all night." Vanellope deduced. Her assumptions were thrown out the window when they hear dance music from outside. They look through the window and can't believe what they're seeing.
"Whoa." Vanellope said in awe. They see a ton of people coming to the party.
"Kid, forget the invitation. I say we crash it." Ralph suggests.
"That's the idea." Vanellope agreed. They grab some tinted shades and left for the party. They couldn't believe the number of people in costumes.
"Whoa. What a turnout." Ralph said. They run into Bouncer Beagle.
"Stop. You're not on the list." Bouncer told them.
"What? How do you know we're not on the list?" Vanellope asked.
"What are your names?"
"Ralph and Vanellope." Ralph told him. Bouncer checked the list.
"Nope! Not on the list! I can only let people in if they're on the list." Bouncer said before stopping Nick Wilde. "Whoa, hold up! You're not on the list."
"Hey, chill out. I'm just passing by." Nick said.
"Hey, Bouncer! You can let the fox in. He seems legit enough." Rocket told him before returning to the party. "Whoo-hoo! Let's keep this party going!"
"Well, if Rocket says it's okay, then go on in." Bouncer allowed Nick inside.
"Whoa, you're letting him in?! He's not even wearing a costume!" Ralph complained.
"Yeah, what the glitch, Bouncer?" Vanellope asked him. Bouncer shot a chilling glare at them.
"Come on, Kid, let's go." Ralph walks away.
"Hey, where are you going?" Vanellope asked.
"One way or another, we're getting into that lame party."
We see some partygoers dancing inside. "Come on. We'll just go through the window." He attempts to open the window, but it's locked. They see Loki come out of the tent.
"Yeah! Party!" Loki cheered.
"Hey, that's Loki." Vanellope noted. "I wasn't expecting you here, Loki."
Loki turns around sees the two of them. "Oh, Ralph, Vanellope. Why are you guys out here? The party's inside!"
Ralph chuckles. "Yeah. We weren't really invited."
"Not invited? Why?"
"That's what we want to know." Vanellope said. "We don't really care. We just want a way in."
Loki looks around and sighs. "Okay, look, I'm not supposed to say this, but if you really want to get into the party, I can use my power to turn you into a ghost."
"Really?" They asked.
"Yes. That way, you won't have to go through the door. You can go through the wall." Loki explained. "Plus, your costumes will be a lot more believable. So what do you say?"
"Let's do it." Ralph accepts.
"Okay." Vanellope nods.
"Perfect." He spins his staff and shoots a beam of blue energy. It hits the two and transforms them into ghosts. 'There. Now you're ghosts."
"Whoa. This is awesome."
"Hey, hold still. I want to try something." Vanellope said before dealing a punch to Ralph's stomach. He felt it.
"Oh! Ooh…" Ralph groaned. "You said things would go through us."
"Yeah, real stuff if you want, but not other ghosts." Loki told them. They went inside the tent. The duo meets with Scrooge, Donald, and Anna. Scrooge is dressed as Monokuma, Donald's dressed as a detective, and Anna's dressed as a sorceress.
"Ralph and Vanellope! You made it!" Donald greeted them.
"Hey, Anna! Happy birthday!" Ralph greeted her.
"Yeah, happy birthday." Vanellope spoke.
"Thanks, you two." Anna thanked them.
"So, you guys got invited after all." Scrooge said.
"Well, you could say that." Ralph said.
"Those are some amazing costumes." Donald complimented.
"Oh, these aren't costumes." Vanellope chuckled.
"Hold on, they're not?" Anna asked bewildered.
"No, we're really ghosts!" Ralph responded.
"Yeah, Loki turned us into ghosts so we can sneak in here and wish you a happy birthday."
"Oh, no, no, no. This is bad." Anna said with worry.
"Yeah, we're bad. We do whatever it takes to party. Top shelf." Vanellope fist bumps Ralph.
"No, you've got bigger problems. If you don't get turned back into yourselves soon, you'll be stuck as ghosts forever."
"What?!" They both gasped in shock.
"Do you know how to change us back?" Ralph asked.
"Sorry, this is just a costume. I don't know any magic." Anna said before approaching Loki. "You turned them into ghosts, Loki?! Change them back!"
"I wish I could, but I don't know how. But perhaps my brother does." They look towards the room and sees Thor, dressed as a carpenter.
"This is troubling. Very troubling." Thor said. "The only way you can turn yourselves to normal is to scare someone."
"Scare someone?"
"Yes." Thor confirmed.
"Hey, we should scare Rocket. He doesn't know we're here yet, so he won't expect it." Ralph suggests.
"OK, let's go for it."
"Oh man! I better use it!" They hear Rocket.
"He's headed to the bathroom. Quick, hide!" Ralph said. They enter the bathroom and turn off the light. Rocket opens the door and turns on the light, at which point Ralph and Vanellope scream at him. Rocket yells in shock and clutches his chest, falling to the ground.
"What's going on?" Vanellope asked.
"Oh no. He's having a heart attack!" Ralph realized. They drag Rocket into the party room. "We need a doctor!"
"Everyone, back up! Back up! What happened?" Thor asked.
"We scared him… and he fell over!" Ralph explained.
"OK, stand back, let him breathe." Thor checks his breath, but he's not breathing. "He's not breathing!" He administers CPR as much as he could, but it was too late. "…He's dead."
The crowd gasps in horror. Thor closes Rocket's eyes for the final time. Anna cries in anguish.
"I can't believe you killed him!" Anna yelled.
"We're sorry!" Ralph apologized.
"Yeah, we didn't mean it." Vanellope continued.
"We just wanted to get into the party." They look at Rocket, who opens his eyes a bit before speaking.
"Gotcha." Rocket starts laughing. "Best prank ever!"
"Prank?! What's wrong into you?!" Ralph said.
"This whole thing was a prank?!" Vanellope asked.
"It sure was! And you two fell for it, hook, line, and sinker!" Rocket laughs.
"Now, hold on, I thought you invited us to a costume party." Scrooge deduced.
"I did, but that was just part one of my plan." He begins narrating his plan to everyone. A montage of flashbacks begins, starting with earlier in the morning. "When you morons spilled soda in my face, I knew I had to get you back. While I was thinking of something, I noticed Elsa shop for presents for Anna's birthday. That's when I came up with the costume party idea. I invited people, while making sure you two were aware. Then Quill and I bailed Loki out of jail so he could turn you into ghosts. It was the perfect prank, the perfect payback." The montage ended.
"Wait a sec… if you wanted to prank us at the party, how come you didn't invite us and save the trouble?" Ralph asked.
"That's easy. I never invited you because I knew you would sneak your way in." Rocket answered. "A little something called reverse psychology, losers!" He laughs. The two groaned.
"This has to be the lamest and most expensive prank you ever cooked up." Vanellope said.
Rocket laughs. "And it was worth every penny. Maybe next time you'll think twice before spilling soda in my face."
"Yeah, we'll definitely think twice." Ralph said.
"Okay, I'm out of here." Scrooge said. The guests start leaving,
"Hey, where are you going? There's plenty of food." Rocket said. He stuffs his face with food. He laughs before he starts to choke.
'Oh, man! Rocket's choking!" Vanellope noted. She turns to Thor. "You got to help him! You're a doctor!"
"No. I'm not a doctor. That was just part of the prank. Does anyone know the Heimlich?" Thor asked. The other guests look to each other helplessly.
"Ralph knows it." Vanellope confirms.
"Yeah, right, he's just faking it. As soon as I help him, he'll be all like 'got you again.'" Ralph mimics Rocket. "I'm tired of it."
"Lame! Are you pranking us?" Vanellope asked Rocket. He shakes his head, still choking. He falls to his knees.
"He's not pranking us!" They realized.
"Hang on, man! I got you!" Ralph performs the Heimlich and gets the food out of Rocket's throat.
"I hope this makes us even." Ralph said.
"It does. Loki, change them back." Rocket told the god of mischief. He taps his staff on the ground and returns Ralph and Vanellope to normal. "Sorry about pranking you so hard. Look, it's going to be a real party, and you guys can stay, if you want to." Rocket offers a handshake. Ralph reluctantly accepts.
"So seriously, is this a real party or not?" Scrooge asked.
"Does this answer your question?" Rocket asked, waving a cassette tape. He throws it towards the tape deck but misses. "Dang it."
"No, doesn't really answer my question." Scrooge said.
"I thought I could throw it into the tape deck like a basketball." Rocket said before he walks over to the tape and picks it up. "Here. Does this answer your question?" He inserts the tape into the deck. "Everybody party!" The music starts and the guests start dancing.
"Can you believe this?" Ralph asked.
"No." Vanellope said. "Hey, next time we see Rocket with a soda, remind me not to spill it in his face?"
"Yes. Yes, I can." Ralph responded.
Rocket comes in rolling in a weird-looking arcade cabinet. "Hey guys. I thought you'd like to have this back."
"Hey, thanks!" Vanellope thanked him.
"Wait, is this cardboard?" Ralph asked.
"Yeah, sorry guys. I sold the real one to Scrooge's nephews at the pawn shop." Rocket apologized. "I just needed some funds for the prank."
"Are you pulling our leg?" Ralph asked.
"What's wrong with you?" Vanellope glared.
Rocket goes to a curtain and pulls it open, revealing the real cabinet. "Gotcha."
