Chapter two arrival at coruscant
Rex feels the kid's arms around his neck which wake him up from a deep sleep. "Hmm what is wrong?" he asked upon receiving no answer he opens his eyes and sees Anakin standing behind the kid. Rex starts rubbing his left hand up and down her back in a failed attempt to sooth her. "I am sorry kid I did not mean to scare you, Obi wan wanted me to wake Rex so that Rex could wake you up" said Anakin, his face full of worry and concern. The kid does not respond and she Burys her head in Rex's neck. "General I think that if you go away then she will calm down," said Rex. Anakin's face was full of sadness and worry after Rex said that, but he nodded and walked away to go join Obi wan. "Ok kid" Rex says gently, "it is time to get off the ship now" he finished. The girl looks up at him and slowly nods. Rex puts his right arm on her legs, and he puts his left arm around her shoulder blades, after that he stands up and walks toward the exit of the ship. Outside of the ship Rex can see Obi wan and Anakin on the landing platform. "Generals" he says. "Captain Rex you and Kix take the kid to the medical lab and treat the rest of her injuries and Rex once you are done meet me outside the jedi council room" says Obi wan.
Kix and Rex nod and start to head to the med lab, on the way their Rex can feel the kid's arms tighten around his neck and her body tensing every time she sees a clone Tropper in full Armour. "it's ok kid" says Rex. Finally arriving at the med lab and Kix opens the door and the three of them walk through the door. However, Rex lets out a sigh upon seeing that some of his brothers are in there, but he gets relived upon seeing that they all have their helmets off. "Captain Rex who is the kid?" ask a curious clone Tropper called Ant. "we do not know her name, only that she is very injured and that the clankers and count Dooku hurt her, oh and that she is also force sensitive "replied Rex. "Oh, I am so sorry kid, but don't worry we will destroy all the clankers kay kid" Ant says. To Rex's surprise the kid turns her head towards Ant and gives him a small smile and nods. Instead of verbally responding Ant also smiles. "Captain Rex if you would not mind setting her down on one of the beds and we can get her into a hospital robe" asked Kix. Rex nods and tries to detach the kids arms from around his neck to get her on the bed, but the kid instead tightens her grip. Rex sighs and sits down on the bed with the kid. "You are going to have to let go off me neck in order to put the hospital robe on in the bathroom" Rex says.
The kid looks up at him with tears in her eyes before bravely nodding her head before removing her arms from around his neck and reaching her hand out for the hospital robe. Kix places it in her hand and after he does that she slowly limps toward the bathroom. "That kid is awfully brave" said another clone trooper. "Yes, she is Chad" said Rex, frowning when after two minutes the kid does not reappear. Rex gets up from the bed, walks to the bathroom, knocks on the door, and asks "kid do you need help getting back to the bed" "yes" said the kid in a timid weak and gravelly voice. Rex is shocked upon hearing how dehydrated her voice is, but he walks in and sees the kid who now has the hospital robe on and has put her bloody torn up robes in the sink. He automatically assumed that the kid's legs have collapsed and stopped working because of the open wounds on her legs which start at her ankles and ends at her kneecaps. Rex picks her up and carries her back to bed. Upon looking at them Kix discovers that they are two inches wide and if he had to guess one inch deep. And she had ten of these cuts on each of her legs. Kix without speaking gets a pair of gloves, a needle and thread, a pair of scissors and a sedative. He sets them down on the moveable tray which already has gauze on it. Looking up at the kid he asks in a gentle voice "those cuts you have look like they hurt, could you lay on your back for me so that I can treat them can I also have your right arm? While he is speaking, he fills the syringe up with the sedative. Kix notices that the kid has not moved her arm, though she is laying back down on the bed with her head on a pillow.
"I am sorry kid, Rex could you hold her right arm still for me" asks Kix. Rex puts both hands on her right arm and holds it. The kid starts to struggle, to try and get her arm back. "it's ok" said Kix while he puts the needle in one of her veins and injects the sedative into her bloodstream. The kid struggles for another minute before she stills. Kix grabs a chair and then places it next to the bed. He waits for a few minutes and then he threads the needle and puts it in between the two blades of the scissors. He gets to one of the cuts which is still oozing out a little bit of blood and puts the needle next to it. After a moment's hesitation he inserts the needle and starts to sew up the cut closest to her ankle. He repeats the process for all the cuts on her legs and then after he is done, he applies the gauze to each of the cuts. "ok" said Kix once he was done doing that, "Rex, I do not want her to put weight on her legs that way she does not pull out her stiches" "ok" Rex responded. "Well, if you are done than we will be headed to the jedi council." With that he walked out of the room, Rex is being careful not to put too much pressure on her legs while he is carrying her.
He arrives at the door and once he is there, he can see that Obi Wan is there. He is sitting Criss cross obviously he had been meditating. "There you two are, oh she looks so tired are you sure that she will be able to stay awake Res"? Obi Wan asks. "I do not know" replies Rex. "Hopefully, the council meeting goes quickly" Obi wan nods and opens the door for them and Rex walks in it. Upon noticing the arrival of rex and the kid, all the council members are quiet, and all the jedi are looking at the kid. The kid starts to become more awake and turns her head towards the jedi. "Captain Rex, who is the kid and what is her name" asks Mace Windu. "Well General we" Rex does not get to finish, instead he gets interrupted. "My name is Adira" said the kid in a weak voice. "Well then Adira do you know how you ended up on the planet that the 501st battalion found you on" asked Ayla Secura. Adira does not respond, instead hiding her head in Rex's neck. "It is ok Adira; you do not have to respond" he said kindly. "Captain Rex since Adira trusts you the most, we feel like you are the best option, for taking care of her, what do you say" asked general Shaak Ti. Rex looks at Adira who is currently asleep on his shoulder and nods. "Ok than Rex we will get the two of you your own private barracks so that Adira can recover in peace and so that she does not get scared and knock out anymore clones like she did on the planet" said Shaak Ti. Rex nods and says "just let me know where it is, and I will move us both into it" after he said that he walked out of the council room.
He walks up and down the halls, he can hear a soft buzzing coming from his right wrist, he realizes after a moment that it is his ComLink. He pushes the button that will allow him to hear what they are saying. "Captain Rex the kaminoans have agreed to let you move into the private barracks and we now know where it is can you come here with Adira" asks Alya Secura. "yes" says Rex and he looks to his ComLink to see that he now has the coordinates for the barracks, and he heads to that destination. Upon arriving there he sees Alya Secura standing outside the door. "Not to sound rude General but what are you doing here" asks Rex. "The jedi order wants me to make sure that the barracks are ok for you and Adira" she replies, "ok" says Rex. "Do you want me to give you the specifics of the barracks" she asks, "no we will figure it out ourselves, I want Adira to continue to sleep" he says. "That is understandable" said Alya Secura, and after she says that she walks away. After she leaves Rex carries Adira into the quarters and lays down on the bed. He glances at the clock and sees that it is eight pm. Well, we might as well get to sleep, he thinks. He puts a blanket over the two of them and falls asleep. When he wakes up Adira still has her arms around his neck, carefully he detaches her arms and gets out of the bed.
He is wondering what to make the two of them for breakfast, when he hears a knock on the door. He looks at Adira to make sure that she is still asleep, and upon seeing that she is still asleep he heads to the door, and upon opening the door he sees Kix there with a plastic bag full of something. "Morning Rex" said Kix, "good morning Kix, what are you doing here?" Rex says while he invites Kix in. After Kix comes into the room, Rex closes the door. Kix looks at Adira who is asleep on the bed and says, "she looks so cute and peaceful right now" "what are you doing here?" asks Rex, "Padme sent me here with some clothes for Adira to try on, that she was going to get rid of because she does not need them" replies Kix. "So, are Anakin and Padme not trying to have a kid anymore" asks Rex "yes" responded Kix, "can I use your laptop and printer for a sec"? "Sure, but why?" asks Rex. "I am printing off a list of food that will be helpful for Adira and is full of nutrients and will be gentle on her stomach so that she does not throw up the food and we can start to get her weight up because she is severally underweight" Kix replies sitting down at the chair next to the computer and printer. Rex can hear Kix typing for a few minutes before he can hear the printer going off. Kix gets the paper and hands it to Rex. "here" he said. "Thanks, Kix," said Rex, looking at the paper, which has milk, cheese, cottage cheese, and yogurt, eggs, soy products, lean meat, turkey, chicken, and fish. Kix leaves after setting the clothes on the couch.
After he is done, he heads to the kitchen and gets out a cartoon of eggs, and some shredded cheese and gets out a medium pan. He cracks two eggs on the pan and puts them on the stove, stirring them, once they are almost done, he adds some shredded cheese once the eggs are cooked all the way, he puts them on a plate and prepares another serving of eggs. He sets the two plates on the table and is surprised to see that Adira is wake and is staring at him. "hey" he says softly "you hungry Adira?" Adria looks at him before slowly nodding her head and holding her arms out, Rex goes to the bed and carefully picks her up and sets her on one of the chairs. He goes back to the kitchen to get two forks and two knives and sets them on either side of the plates on the table. Rex starts to eat his eggs, and after a few minutes he realizes that Adira is not eating. "Adira the food in front of you is for you, you can eat it" says Rex. Adira slowly nods before taking a small bite out of the eggs. "Is it good" asks Rex, Adira nods and continues eating.
A couple minutes later Adira stops eating and there are still half of her eggs on the plate. "You full" asked Rex. Adira nods, looking up at him. Rex continues to eat until all his food is gone and then he gets up and cleans his plate and puts it in the dishwasher and puts Adira's food in a plastic container before it gets put in the fridge and her plate gets cleaned and put in the dishwasher as well. Rex grabs the bag full of clothes from the couch and goes back to the table and picks up Adira, before saying "Adira, I need you to try on these clothes and see what fits you and what does not fit we will give away ok." Adira nods, and in a moment, she is set in the fresher, and the bag of clothes placed on the ground next to her. "Ok call me when you are done, and I will see if they actually fit you," said Rex. Adira nods, and after she does that Rex goes to the couch and sits down and waits for Adira's call. "x" said Adira in a small voice, Rex only heard her because he had been waiting for her, with a smile on his face he walks to the fresher and knocks on the door. "Adira" he calls out, "do you have the first outfit on?" he asks "Yes" said Adira and with that Rex opens the Fresher door and looks at Adira who currently has a light blue tank top on with a gray pair of sweatpants.
"Looks like it fits to me" said Rex, he heads to get a laundry basket, "put the outfit in here and put the others that fit in here as well and for now put the ones that do not fit back in the bag" he said realizing that Adira had taken all the clothes out of the bag. Adira after processing this nods, and Rex closes the door to give her privacy before going back into the living room, after a few minutes Adira again calls out to him but this time the clothes do not fit, "Ok Adira since they do not fit put them back in the bag, please" he said. Adira nods, after ten minutes of doing this Adira has clothes for every day of the week, along with sweats and tank tops for sleeping, she has four sweatshirts, and she has two dresses. After setting Adira on the couch, Rex heads back to the bathroom and gets the laundry hamper and the bag and sets them on the couch. The first thing he does is fold all the clothes that do not fit and then he neatly puts them back in the bag to give back to Padme, he puts the clothes that do fit into the closet. Turning around he smiles at Adira who is currently wearing a red tank top and a grey pair of sweaters, who looks confused before she smiles back, Rex sighs before getting out a piece of paper. "I should make a list of words that you say and what they mean that way if I need anyone to watch you then they know what you mean" he says aloud. Adira turns to the sound of his voice but does not say anything. Rex writes the letter x on one side of the paper and on the other he puts Rex. He sits on the couch right next to Adira and pulls out his data pad and starts reading. After a minute Adira puts her head on his neck, and Rex lets it happen, but he soon discovers that Adira is looking at the words on the data pad before she is looking back at Rex. He smiles upon discovering that she does not know how to read and switches it to a book about Kamino.
"Kamino is a water planet, with the cities above the water, it is where the clones are made, and are trained to fight in the clone wars, the clone wars are divided into two different sides. The republic which has the clones and jedi, the jedi can use the force and they have either blue or green lightsabers although General Mace Windu has a purple light saber, but he is the only one who does not have a blue, or green, the clones use distinct types of guns and weapons to defend the innocent. The separatists use different droids such as B one battle droids, super droids, b2 series super battle droids, droidekas, Oom command battle droids, t-series tactical droids, super tactical droids, all though we call all the droids clankers" Rex finished looking down at Adira and sees that she is looking back up at him. She slowly raises her hand and starts running her finger up and down her face, going under his nose, and around his lips. Rex looks at her curiously, but he does not stop her. She stops eventually and her hand falls to her side. Rex looks at the clock and sees that it is lunchtime; he gets up from the couch setting his data pad down on the table and heads to the kitchen and gets the leftovers of Adira's food and sets it in the microwave to re heat up. While that is working, he gets out bread, meat and cheese and makes himself a sandwich.
After he is done, he hears the microwave signaling that the eggs have been re heated, he puts the plate on the table and sets his sandwich down on the table, then he gets out two glasses, one a small cup the other is a large cup, he fills the small cup up half full of milk and he fills the other cup with water he also gets some silverware for Adira. After that is done, he heads to the table and sets the cups and the silverware down, and then heads back to the couch and picks up Adira and sets her on the table. He takes a bite out of the sandwich and looks at Adira to see that she is slowly eating her eggs. He looks at her in relief at the fact that she is still eating and that she is still not full of breakfast. He continues to eat his sandwich occasionally looking up at Adira, who is still eating her eggs. He finishes eating and drinks the rest of his water in one sip while walking to the kitchen. He puts his dirty dishes in the dishwasher, when he gets back to the table Adira is done eating, and he also puts her dishes in the dishwasher. When he is done, he goes back to the table and picks up Adira and carries her back to the couch. He gets out his data pad and starts to read a book on it he looks up at Adira when he feels her get on his right side, "What are you doing Adira" asks Rex, Adira responds with "p" while she has her head on his side, he gathers that she had said sleepy, he gets Adira off him for a minute and gets off the couch and gets a blanket. He returns to the couch and lays down and Adira after a moment's hesitation goes back to her old position and Rex carefully puts the blanket on her, to which she stirred and said, "rm" while snuggling deeper into the blanket. Rex smiles at that, and after waiting a few minutes to make sure that Adira is asleep, he leans over and grabs the piece of paper and the pen that he left on the coffee table and adds a p which stands for sleepy and rm which stands for warm to the paper.
He looks at Adira and smiles at her, he grabs his data pad again and resumes reading the book that he was reading and continues it, he keeps hearing his Com link going off but the jedi order has assured him that there is no rush to get back to his captain duties, and to take all the time he needs to help Adira, so he knows he does not need to respond to it, it was a clone trying to reach him he thought. He ignores it and continues to read his book. He gets interrupted from his book by a knock on the door, he moves Adira's head and gets off the couch, and goes to open the door and is surprised to see that Obi wan is there. "What are you doing here General" asked Rex "I tried to reach you on your comn link, but you were not answering, so I figured that you were busy with taking care of Adira how are you liking taking care of her" asked Obi wan "i am doing well, I have started to make a list of the words she says and what they mean, Kix also sent me a list of food for Adira to eat so that we can get some meat on her bones because that is what she looks to be right now, and currently she is asleep on the couch" Rex said. Obi wan smiles and says, "are you sure that she is asleep Captain Rex"? Rex frowns and goes to the couch to see that Adira is wake and is staring at the two of them, Rex smiles and goes to Adira "hey Adira did you have a good nap" Adira nods though she is not looking at him, instead Adira is looking at Obi wan with curiosity and not fear.
Obi wan says while walking slowly closer to the couch "hello Adira, how are you, I hope you are well don't worry I am not going to hurt you, kay." Adira looks at him and nods, and Obi wan looks at Rex and says, "so she knows if It is a yes or no question and knows how to respond to it, but she does not know how to speak, even though she spoke in the council?" "Yes, that is what has been happening, I do not know how she can tell what kind of question it is, but she can, and I am working on her language with her Kix said reading aloud from a book can help her recognize the sounds and get her more familiar with the language" "then what book did you read to her Rex" Obi wan asked "I read her a book about kamino" Obi wan opens his mouth to say something but before he can Adira says "x" "yes what is it Adira" askes Rex. "I am ld" replied Adira while snuggling into Rex. Rex is confused and does not know what she said until Obi wan asks "Rex she said that she is cold do you have a blanket or sweatshirt for her to use?" Rex nods and goes to get a sweatshirt from the closet for her once he has it, he returns to the couch and says "arm up" before gently putting her arms through the arm holes. "Well, I just came to see how you and Adira where getting along and now I will get going" said Obi wan, after he says that he heads to the door than walks out of it before Rex can respond to him.
