Lincoln and Lynn's Midnight Adventure

It was a quiet night in the Loud House. Everyone was sleeping peacefully and not a sound could be heard in contrast to the house when daylight was out. However, in one particular room, the occupant was not sleeping. It was the sole boy of the house, Lincoln Loud. He was currently putting things in a backpack. As he finished putting the last things he needed, Lincoln turned to face the viewers.

"Oh hi there. You might be wondering why I am packing my backpack in the middle of the night. Well, Gus' Games and Grub is holding a midnight party since today is Gus's birthday. He is having all-night gaming, an all-night buffet, and a dance contest on Dance Dance Revolution! This is going to be one epic party."

Lincoln paused to double-check that he had everything he needed for the night before putting his hand on the doorknob.

"Now I know what you're thinking. 'Lincoln, how can you possibly go to this midnight party if your parents wouldn't let you?' Well, the answer to that is simple: I am sneaking out. Don't worry I'll be back before anyone realizes that I was gone. I know I say that a lot but this time I really mean it."

Opening his door quietly, Lincoln checked his hallway to see it was completely empty. Tip-toeing his way to the staircase he then made his way downstairs one step at a time to make sure he wasn't making too much noise. He had made it all the way down to the bottom when he heard someone talk.

"What are you doing?"

Lincoln quickly clamped his mouth shut to stop himself from screaming as he turned to the source. To his surprise, it was his sporty sister Lynn who was watching a game.

Lincoln deadpanned toward the viewers, "Dang it." Before turning to face Lynn.

"I was just uhh….. going for a midnight stroll. Yeah, nothing like walking in the middle of the night to really get the juices flowing." Lincoln nervously said.

Lynn looked at him, unimpressed.

"You know you are a terrible liar, right?" Lynn responded in a deadpan tone. "Why are you really down here?"

Sighing, Lincoln threw his hands up in defeat. "Fine. I was sneaking out to go to Gus'. He's hosting a midnight party for his birthday."

Lynn looked up, her eyes full of shock and amusement.

"You're sneaking out at night? To go to a party?"

"Yeah. Why are you so surprised? You've also snuck out before."

"True but I thought you would be 16 before your first sneak out at midnight party." Lynn got up from the couch and walked over to her brother. "Is that what you asked Mom and Dad about and they said no?"

"Yes," Lincoln replied bluntly. "But even though they said no I am still going. Everyone from school is going to be there. I am not missing it for anything." Lincoln turned back to the door and was about to open it when he heard Lynn's voice again.

"Uh-uh. Not so fast. Sneaking out at night is still a bad thing to do." Lincoln turned to find Lynn making an evil grin at him. "I could just wake Mom and Dad and tell them what you are up to."

Sighing in exasperation, Lincoln asked "What do you want, Lynn? Want me to be your sparring buddy for the next 2 months? Or would you like my next 5 breakfast burritos?"

"Those all sound good but I was thinking you could take me somewhere. Somewhere tonight?" Lynn said in a suggestive tone with her eyebrows raised.

Lincoln widened his eyes before defeatedly saying, "Fine Lynn, you can come to the party."

"Yes! This is going to be awesome!"

Lynn put her arm around Lincoln's neck before opening the door and beginning the walk to Gus' Games and Grub.

"Why couldn't you just take the sparring buddy or the burritos?" Lincoln asked, exasperatedly.

"Well, this is your first midnight party. I want to make sure you keep your pants on." Lynn said with a suggestive smile.

"Pants on. Wait….. EWWWWWW. Gross Lynn!"

"Hey. just looking out for you."

After 20 minutes of walking the pair came up to Gus' Games and Grub and walked inside. The arcade was lively with kids playing games, the lights and the music playing, and everyone helping themselves to the buffet. Lincoln looked in awe as he had never seen the arcade like this before.

"Wow. I've never seen the arcade this packed before. Not even on its busiest days."

"Eh. I've seen places more jam-packed than this one. Though this definitely comes in the top 10."

Lincoln gave a look towards Lynn before Gus came over.

"Hey, Lincoln! How's one of my favorite customers?" Gus exclaimed.

"Doing well Gus! Ready to have some fun."

Gus laughed heartily. "Now that's what I like to hear. Who did you bring with you?"

"Oh, this is my sister Lynn. She asked if she could come."

"Well, any sibling of Lincoln is a friend of mine. Have fun you two!" Gus then walked off to talk to some adult patrons who were also at his party.

"Well, I'm going to go to the buffet and then meet up with my friends. What are you going to do?" Lincoln asked as he faced Lynn.

"I'm just going to wander around and see if anything catches my eye. Have fun."

"You too."

Lincoln got into the line for the buffet and got two slices of pizza, some spaghetti, and chicken nuggets. He then worked his way and found the table his friends were sitting at before taking his seat.

"Lincoln! Finally! You're the last one here. What took you so long?" Clyde asked.

"Sorry guys. I had to sneak out. My parents said no to this." Lincoln said.

"WHAT! You disobeyed your parents!" Clyde exclaimed

"Wow, Lincoln. I didn't think you would be the kind to defy your parents like that." Rusty said.

"Me neither. Are you sure that this is a good idea?" Stella asked.

"Guys, don't worry. I'll be back at my house by 12 o'clock and my parents will never know that I snuck out." Lincoln replied

"But Lincoln, what if you get caught?! You'll get grounded and then your folks won't trust you! And then you'll be homeschooled! And then —"

"Clyde you're spiraling," Lincoln said. Clyde began taking several deep breaths to calm himself down. "Clyde relax. None of that is going to happen. I will be home before the night ends."

"Okay fine," Clyde said, albeit still a bit unsure.

"Hey, by the way, Lincoln why is your sister here?" Zach asked.

They all turned to see Lynn playing on one of the games against a player who appeared to be struggling.

Sighing, Lincoln said "She caught me when I was sneaking out. In order to buy her silence I had to let her come."

"Really? That stinks worse than donkey and cow poo together." Liam said.

"Yeah….. but enough of that guys! Let's go and have some fun!" Lincoln said.

"YEAH."

After finishing up their food the gang went around, playing games and talking with people from their school. After a while, the Dance Dance Revolution tournament had begun. The competition was fierce with many dancers going to their limit. Ultimately Lincoln was the one who managed to make it all the way to the final.

"Alright, Lincoln. It's down to you and whoever you are going against in the final. Good luck." Said Clyde.

"You got this dawg." Said Rusty.

"Your legs move faster than a horse on a racetrack!" Liam exclaimed.

"Go Lincoln!" Stella said.

"Good luck bro," Zach said.

"Thank you, guys! Don't worry; I'll mop the floor with whoever I'm facing." Lincoln said.

Gus then took a microphone and started speaking. "All right, everyone, thank you for coming. As you all have seen in this Dance Dance Revolution Tournament we are down to the finals. And now please, put your hands together as I welcome the contestants."

Gus paused as the applause rang out.

"Alright for the first contestant we have the White-Haired Menace, The King of Video Games, The Comic Book Ace, please welcome… Lincoln Loud!" Uproarious applause came about as Lincoln took his place on one of the consoles.

"For contestant number 2 we have the Queen of Sports, the Red Deviled Runner, The Future Olympian." Lincoln thought to himself as those titles seemed familiar. "There is only one person I know that has those titles…it couldn't be…oh no…it is."

"Please welcome… Lynn Loud!"

Lincoln groaned as he realized that while this was a video game, it was a physical one and Lynn is his superior in anything physical. However, Lincoln puffs up his chest and is determined to not go down without a fight.

"Okay Lincoln if I'm going to lose, might as well give one heck of a fight," Lincoln muttered to himself.

Lynn took her place on the other stand before flashing her brother a grin. "Get ready Stinkoln because you are going down."

"We'll see about that Lynn. Sports may be your thing but video games are mine."

"Let's see if you can back up those words Stinkoln."

The two gave each other competitive looks before looking back towards the screen, where the song revealed that they would be dancing too is Call Me Maybe. Lincoln looked apprehensive as this was a fast tempo song which meant that he had to move his feet fast. However, he redetermined his resolve making it as strong as vibranium steel. Looking towards the screen he watched the countdown and got ready to move.

"3…2…1…DANCE."

The game finally started and both Lincoln and Lynn were giving it their all. After about two minutes they were nearing the end of the song with the two of them still neck and neck.

"Man, Lynn's not really making this easy for me. But there is still a chance for me to win. There is no way I am giving it up now!" Lincoln thought.

"Geez, Lincoln's quicker than he looks. But no matter. I am Lynn Loud, a full-time winner at the Loud House. I will win!" Lynn thought.

Finally, the end of the game song came and both siblings were tired and sweaty before looking up to see their scores. It was Lynn's 24360 to Lincoln's 24370.

Lincoln widened his eyes as he double-checked the scores. He couldn't believe it! He won against Lynn! The arcade immediately started engaging in thunderous applause as Lincoln's friends hoisted him up on their shoulders and people gave him friendly bumps and congratulations.

Meanwhile, Lynn was left in shock. Her wimpy little brother just bested her in something physical. She just lost her record of playing perfect games. She was determined to get it back and was ready to challenge Lincoln to another game to get her record back. However, just as she was about to approach Lincoln she felt someone bump her shoulder.

To her surprise, it was her friends Margo and Paula.

"Man, that was awesome Lynn! You and your brother really went at it! I never saw you get so pumped up!" Margo exclaimed.

"I'll say! None of our sports meets got you this fired up before!" Paula said in excitement.

Lynn looked at her friends in shock, as she thought that they would be telling her what a loser she was right now

"Wait, you guys aren't upset that I lost?" Lynn asked in confusion.

"Why would we be upset? That was such an awesome dance-off! Sure it's a bummer you lost but the crazed feeling in the air, the excitement of who was going to win, the thrill of playing the game?! Didn't you at least have fun?" Margo said.

Looking back to the competition Lynn realized that Margo was right. This dance video game really got her fired up like nothing else before and she gave it her all just like a real sports meet. Furthermore, she was pushed to her limit, and although she lost in the end the thrill of playing stuck with her. It was that feeling that made her love sports.

"Even though I lost I still had fun. This is the first time I have ever felt like this." Lynn thought to herself. Looking back to her brother Lynn saw the way that he was hoisted and people were all congratulating him. Lynn wondered if Lincoln feels what she feels whenever he plays video games.

Eventually, the party started to wind down and people went to leave. Lincoln and Lynn said goodbye to their friends and made their way home.

"Well that was a fun party, don't you think?" Lincoln asked.

"Yeah, definitely! This was amazing! And hey good game on the Dance Dance Revolution." Lynn said.

Lincoln looked at his sporty sister in surprise. It was rare for her to give him praise especially when he has managed to beat her in something. "Really? No accusations of me cheating or demanding another competition or anything?" Lincoln asked perplexingly.

"I admit I was going to. But Margo and Paula managed to set me straight. You really pushed my skills to the limit. I admit that fire was only felt whenever I was in sports meets. Is that what you feel whenever you play video games?" Lynn asked.

"You mean the drive to win, the passion for video games, and the thrill of not knowing what is going to happen in the end? Yes, I feel that every time I play video games." Lincoln said.

"Wow. Guess video games can be more fun than I thought. That dance game really gave me a workout that made lifting the single-seat chairs with twins on it a light jog. Maybe we could play again some time?" Lynn asked.

"I'd love to. You gave me a challenge that none of my friends could give." Lincoln replied.

"No problem. So are we heading home now?" Lynn asked.

"Yeah. Party's over so let us head home." Lincoln said.

"No, not yet. We're not going home yet." Lynn said. Lincoln gave her a quizzical look.

"You may have had your first midnight party, but you need to learn that the night is young." Lynn then wrapped her arm around Lincoln's. "So come on we're going out."

"But where? What could be open at this time at night?"

"That's simple. The movies." Lynn replied with a grin.

The two siblings had gotten to the movies where they had gotten tickets for Avengers: Endgame. After paying for some popcorn and sodas they settled into their seats as the movie started. They both leaned on each other as the movie went on.

The movie ended 3 hours later. As such, everyone came streaming out talking about the movie.

"Wasn't it awesome when everyone came through the portals?!" One person said.

"How about Pepper suiting up as Rescue?!" Another one said.

"That ending was depressing though." A third one said.

Lincoln and Lynn were walking towards the exit with huge smiles on their faces. "So what did you think of Endgame?" Lincoln asked.

"That movie was amazing! I especially loved that all-female brigade though it felt a bit shoehorned. But aside from that movie was great!" Lynn said.

"I'll say! The culmination of the Infinity Saga! It did not disappoint!" Lincoln exclaimed.

The two laughed as they walked out of the theater and on the sidewalk. "So do you want to head home now?" Lynn asked.

"Mmmm…just one last thing," Lincoln said as a mischievous grin spread across his face. "How'd you like to play a game of HORSE?"

"Wait really?! You mean it?!" Lynn nearly screamed.

Lincoln nodded his head enthusiastically. "Yup. We've done things that I like. Now it's time to do something you like."

"Well okay then. Let's head for the basketball court."

The two siblings made their way to the basketball court. They grabbed two basketballs and settled themselves next to one of the nets. "Okay Lincoln, you go first."

Lincoln got ready, aimed his ball, and…ended up missing.

"Oh. Okay, you have an H," Lynn said. Lynn then took her shot and ended getting nothing but net.

Lincoln aimed his ball before imagining that he was back in the arcade playing the basketball game. Thinking it through he took his shot and it hit the square perfectly and went into the net.

"Wow. Nice shot little bro. Looks like this game is going to be longer than we thought."

20 minutes later…

"And that's game," Lynn said who had a HORS to Lincoln's HORSE.

"That was a good game, Lynn," Lincoln said as he gave a fist bump to his sister.

"It was. But now how about we head home? I'm exhausted." Lynn said.

"Yeah. Me too." Said Lincoln.

The two of them put the basketballs back and started the walk home.

It was still dead quiet when the two siblings arrived back at the Loud House. Being extremely careful not to make any noise the two opened the door and walked inside. Lincoln then closed and locked the door before turning to Lynn who looked like she couldn't take one more step. Lincoln felt the same way.

"Hey, Lincoln. Can we just sleep on the couch tonight?" Lynn whispered. "Yes please." Whispered Lincoln.

The two of them crawled over to the sofa before laying down on it as they snuggled up together.

"Hey, Lynn." "Yeah?" "Thank's for spending the night with me." "You're welcome. And Lincoln?" "Yeah?" "I love you, little bro." "I love you too."

The End
