Izumi stepped into Hermit's office in UA, Kirishima following asking questions.

"So, you and Hermit have the same quirk huh?" he asked, looking around the fairly bland office.

"In a way." she sighed, "I promise it's all gonna get explained."

"Cool, cool…uh…so…you and Uraraka huh? How'd that happen?" he asked curiously.

"I asked her out, she said yes, boom, match made." she said, shooting him an impish grin, "why? Are you jealous? Wanted to shoot your shot?~"

Kirishima blushed, "w-w-w-what!? N-no! I was just curious!" he spluttered.

"So it's someone else you like huh?" she purred, waggling her eyebrows and making him blush a deep red, steam pouring out his ears while she cackled, "you're too easy." she giggled.

Kirishima shook his head, doing his best to fight down his blush, "N-Not like I have time for something like that," he muttered, looking out the window, "we're here to be heroes, everything else is on the backburner."

"Sheesh, you're sounding like Bakugo," she groaned, "you know there's more to life than work right? Call being a pro-hero what you want, at the end of the day it's still a job; a dangerous, life threatening job, but a job nonetheless, why refuse companionship and fun just to bury yourself in work?"

"Well said, apprentice."

The two teens turned towards the door, All-Might and Hermit were walking in, well, All-Might was walking in, Hermit was sitting on his shoulder, looking down at the two with tired eyes before jumping down, "life is too short to be focused on a single aspect, Young Kirishima, it's a lesson Izumi learned during her apprenticeship, and a lesson you will learn during your career." he looked to All-Might, who closed the door and deflated.

"You two did amazing today," All-Might praised them, "a bit rough around the edges, but-"

"-passable," Hermit finished, "as I said back there, your choice to go after bakugo instead of thawing the bomb wasn't the smartest choice, but I digress, we aren't here to talk about your classes."

"Indeed," All-Might agreed, turning to Kirishima, "I told you when I first made you my successor that you would be privy to many secrets that you will have to keep, today, you will learn one of the bigger ones."

"Whatever it is, I'll keep it in the utmost confidence!" Kirishima said firmly.

"You have conviction, good.' Hermit muttered, nodding, "that's good. The secret of Magic isn't one to be given lightly."

"...Magic?" Kirishima questioned unsurely.

"Indeed," Hermit confirmed, "magic, it's what Izumi and I use in lieu of quirks, a discipline that can only be learned by those who have the potential to manifest Mana, nowadays that usually means the quirkless; it's a bit of an open secret, governments know of it, as do a few high level heroes, but the public at large? The average pro hero? It's nothing but fairy tales, even the government doesn't truly understand what we can do; they believe most of our magic is offensive, they don't know the full scope of our powers."

"But…why hide it?" Kirishima asked, "Quirks are widely accepted nowadays, why hide your full abilities?"

"Think about it Kirishima," Izumi said quietly, "when quirks came out, there was widespread chaos and panic, during the dark days there were wars fought over quirks, budding hero teams and attempts at schools for quirks were tracked down and destroyed with extreme prejudice, and that was just with quirks; you've seen what I can do, what do you think a world government or a private company would do when they found out I could Ignore the laws of physics with the wave of my hand? Create gold from thin air? Kill someone with only a word?"

"Magic has been around for centuries," Hermit continued, "in the dark ages it was known and accepted by everyone, but greedy warlords and empires forced mages into wars and conflict; in the ensuing chaos the world was almost destroyed, so we hid ourselves, to prevent such a thing from happening again. Quirks may have changed everyone's perception of powers, but that doesn't mean we are safe to reveal ourselves."

"Whoa…this is pretty heavy…" Kirishima mumbled, "so…magic is real…I know you're not lying to me, I don't think anyone here would go so far for a joke…but why tell me? Why not just keep me in the dark?"

"Because there's been times in the past where you'll have to work with mages." All-Might said, "Believe it or not, there's many magical threats out there that a punch won't defeat, most are swiftly and quietly dealt with by mages, however, as the future symbol of peace, you will most likely face them."

"There's been times in the past where we've called All-Might in to help with these beings as well." Hermit siad, "there are certain demons and magic users who can negate our own magic, and heroes like All-Might are perfect for dealing with them."

"Which is why, from this point on, you and Young Midoriya will train alongside each other on certain days after school," All-Might took over, 'better to get you two used to fighting alongside each other."

"Hell yeah i'll do it!" Kirishima cheered, pumping a fist, "extra training is manly!"

"That didn't take much convincing." Izumi chuckled, "glad we can be allies, Kirishima." she said, holding a hand out.

Kirishima clasped the pro-offered hand, "you know it Midoriya! We were a hell of a team today, I'd definitely be down for some more team ups!"

"How wholesome," Hermit drawled, "This went about as expected, so I'll go ahead and inform the principal that on Wednesdays and Fridays we'll be commandeering one of the training grounds to get you two up to snuff. First session will probably be next week, so for now, get better acquainted with each other, you'll be seeing a lot of one another for the next three years. Dismissed."

"Yes sir!" They chorused, bowing to Hermit before leaving, talking quietly as they went.

"Was definitely less painful then I thought it'd be." All-Might mused, watching their wards leave.

"Do you think he's up for it?" Hermit asked, "you know the kind of missions we've been sent on."

"Young Kirishima has proven to me that he has the heart of a true hero." All-Might said, "he will take anything thrown at him."

"Good to know…you may want to skedaddle, my next conversation isn't going to be as easy."

"You sure you don't want me here?"

"I'm sure," Hermit sighed, patting All-Might on the shoulder, "Go be an American flag somewhere else."

All-Might laughed, buffing back up, "UNTIL NEXT TIME MY FRIEND!" He boomed, taking off out the door.

Hermit popped his neck and sat down at his desk, pulling out a few grading forms for the class. He got through four of them before there was a knock at the door, "enter." he ordered.

The door opened and in walked Shoto Todoroki, now out of his hero costume and in his uniform, "you wanted to speak to me?" he asked, his face betraying no emotion to the part time teacher.

"Take a seat." he said, motioning to the free chair, leaning his elbows on the desk and folding his fingers together in front of his cloth-covered mouth. "Let's talk about the exercise today."

"I underestimated my opponents." Todoroki said stoically, "It won't happen again."

"That's part of what happened." Hermit mused, "tell me, how did you underestimate your opponents?"

"You were watching, you should know." Todoroki muttered.

"I want to hear it from you." Hermit said, standing and walking around the desk, sitting on it's edge and crossing his arms, staring directly at Todoroki.

"...I underestimated their teamwork, as well as Midoriya's powers, I was under the impression she needed her staff to utilize her quirk."

"Hmm,still not hitting the nail on the head yet." Hermit sighed.

"Then what am I missing?" Todoroki asked, irritation beginning to bleed into his voice.

"It's quite simple really," Hermit drawled, "but I'm not surprised that you don't see it as a problem, so I'll cut right to the chase: why didn't you use your fire?"

"What?" Todoroki asked in confusion.

"Your quirk is Half-hot, half-cold." Hermit continued, standing and pacing by the window, "a versatile, overpowered quirk that should've-at the very least-allowed you to run out the clock while engaging Midoriya; instead you used only Ice attacks, despite knowing they weren't working against your opponent. Your partner even asked you to use it to get rid of a fog that was affecting your vision, and yet you still refused, so now I'm very curious; why won't you use your fire?"

Todoroki was tense, and now looking down, "what does it matter?" he asked softly, "I refuse to use it, and that's that."

"That is not that." Hermit said sharply, turning back towards him, "you are training to be a hero, to use only half your quirk is stupid on your part."

"I can be a hero with my mothers Ice, that's all I need." Todoroki growled, "I refuse to use my fathers quirk."

'`Your mothers Ice?" he questioned, "Is your mother the one going through these tests? Is your mother the one trying to become a hero? No, you are. Mommy can't help you fight villains Todoroki, nor can Daddy-"

"-I don't need my bastard father for anything!" he snapped, jumping out of his chair and glaring at the man.

"That's not what I've noticed." Hermit said, unflinching in the face of Todoroki's anger, "after all, he's the only reason Aizawa didn't expel you yesterday."

The room temperature seemed to drop dramatically, 'Excuse me?" Todoroki whispered.

"Didn't you know?" Hermit asked, leaning back against the window, "Aizawa's test yesterday, he told all of you he'd expel last place, and in the end, he came close to expelling you for not using your quirk to its full potential."

"Then why didn't he?" asked, his gaze once again on the floor, fists clenched tightly at his side.

"Why do you think Todoroki?" Hermit questioned, "expelling Endeavors son on the first day? His career would've been destroyed; I guess that means it wasn't directly your fathers fault, but it was still a factor." Hermit took his hat off and ran a hand through his hair, "from the way you talk about him, I assume you don't have a good relationship-not that i'm asking about it-" he added when Todoroki looked like he was gonna interrupt, "-i won't delude myself in thinking you'd talk to me about it, teenage stubbornness and all that; however, I will give you this one warning; if you do not use your fire then you won't last the semester; Aizawa is a tough teacher, as am I, if we know you're not putting your all into it then we won't put ours in, meaning you won't be at UA come next semester."

"I am putting my all into this." Todoroki muttered.

"How can you say that with a straight face when you just threw a match not even an hour ago?" Hermit asked, "How can you expect me to believe that when you've already told me you refuse to use half of your quirk? Your words are empty Todoroki, they hold no substance behind them."

"What do you know?" Todoroki sneered, "You're just some washed up old pro who didn't even make it to the big leagues."

"You'd be surprised what I know, boy." Hermit said, the air in the office growing heavy as his eyes glowed, "surprised at the foes i've fought and the experiences i've lived through, I've fought villains your little mind can't comprehend," he sighed, the pressure slowly disappearing, "but I'm not here to talk about that, I'm here to lecture you about how stupid it is to use only half your quirk, and to warn you of the consequences should you refuse." he took a seat behind his desk once more, the air finally back to normal, "you have a wonderful gift, Todoroki, I don't want to see you squander it and the opportunities you have out of spite." Hermit shook his head, seeing the defiant glint in Todoroki's eyes, "think on my words," he urged, "the next time we have a conversation like this, it may be your last in UA…you're dismissed."

Todoroki angrily left his office, slamming the door behind him.

"Teenagers," Hermit groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose, "why did I agree to this?"

The Next Day

Izumi yawned, nodding sleepily alongside Uraraka as they listened to Iida talk about the impropriety of 'rubbernecking on campus!', having caught the two sharing a fairly tame kiss in the halls.

"-And to think you did this before class! What if you two had been late to class while you were…were…cavorting!"

"Iida, Iida, please." Izumi groaned, pulling on her hair, "It was a kiss!"

"Acts of physical affection should be kept outside of the school!"

"But we only ever see each other at school," Uraraka supplied, doing her best to keep her irritation out of her voice, "come on Iida! You need to loosen up!"

"Hmm…perhaps I am being too hard on you two," Iida hummed, his arm working robotically, "But I only do it because you two are my friends and I wish to see you succeed!"

"Awe, thanks buddy." Izumi chuckled, "but I promise you, we won't suddenly start failing because we shared a teensie little kiss!"

"Mhmm…even so-"

"-we know Iida," Uraraka giggled, "we'll keep the affection down at school."

"That is all I ask!" Iida exclaimed with a nod, striding back over to his desk.

"Sheesh, that guy needs to get laid." she muttered, wincing when Uraraka flicked her forehead, "okay, ow."

"Be nice,' Uraraka chastised, "though…he does need to lighten up a bit."

"Maybe he just needs to find a girlfriend,'' Izumi drawled, looking around the class, "I bet he and Yaoyorozu would make a decent couple, they're both model students."

"I don't think Yaoyorozu can handle Iida, he's pretty intense." Kaminari whispered, having heard their conversation, 'he'd get along with Tsuyu."

"Not interested, ribbit." Tsuyu butted in,sitting down at her desk and looking at them, "not my type."

"If we want him to loosen up we should pair him with Mina." Uraraka giggled softly.

Izumi covered her mouth thinking of the outgoing and slightly spastic Mina going out with the uptight, rule following Iida, "They've both got spirit." She chortled.

"Everyone to your seats." Aizawa commanded as he walked in, looking around with narrowed eyes at everyone sitting silently in their desks like they weren't just having a full blown conversation. "Alright, we'll be going over your matches from yesterday, but before we do that…"

"...you all need to choose a class president."

Instantly the room was in an uproar, "Pick me!" Mina demanded.

"No me! I wanna be class president!" Kirishima shouted.

"I advocate for shorter girls skirts!" Mineta shouted, before immediately being shot out the classroom window.

"Midoriya!" Aizawa said sharply, glaring at the casually whistling mage as she stowed her staff away.

"Oh look at that, the perv spontaneously jumped out the window." Izumi droned, pretending to be surprised.

"...I vote Midoriya for our class president." Jirou called.

"Same." Toru said with a raised hand.

"Seconded!" Uraraka giggled, holding her hand up.

"Third…ed? Is that right?" Mina asked Yaomomo, who shook her head apologetically.

"I think Midoriya would make a good president." Tsuyu said, nodding seriously.

"...Anyone against?" Aizawa asked, sighing in slight defeat while 0y]im=looking around, Kaminari looked like he wanted to object, but the glares from the girls made him wilt. "Alright, Midoriya is class president, does anyone have a nominee for vice president?"

Iida stood, hand shot high into the air.

Figures Iida would nominate himself, several people thought simultaneously.

"I nominate Yaoyorozu!" Iida proclaimed, hand Karate chopping the air a few times.

Yaoyorozu looked back at Iida in surprise, 'I'm thankful for the nomination, but I was thinking you would nominate yourself Iida." she said politely.

How'd she say that without sounding mean? The class thought.

"While I would love to be a class officer, it is simply the democratic thing to do to nominate those who I believe would fit the role of our representatives!" Iida said passionately, "And I believe you are the order and approachability that would compliment Midoriya's fairly confrontational and whimsical attitude!"

"Did Iida just say he didn't believe I'd make a good representative?" Izumi asked Tsu quietly.

"Sounds like it." Tsu said bluntly, "This is why he's not my type."

"Noted."

"Enough." Aizawa growled, "anyone second the nomination?"

"Here here!" Izumi called, raising her finger.

"I could get behind Yaomomo as Vice Rep." Kirishima called with a grin.

"Anyone have any other nominations?"

Aoyama tried to nominate himself, but the vote was fairly lopsided in Yaomomo's favor.

It was around this time that Mineta trudged back into the room, glaring daggers at a snickering Midoriya.

"Alright, with that done, let's get to the overview, after we get through everyone's matches I want each of you to write up an After Action Report on your matches, everyone except for Todoroki, who had his After Action Report with Hermit." Aizawa turned his gaze to the now glaring Todoroki, "anyways let's get started."

When the bell rang Todoroki was the first one out the door.

"Not all is well for the son of Ice and Fire." Tokoyami muttered.

"Imbalance in mind and soul." Izumi agreed solemnly.

"What are you two talking about?" Sato asked in confusion.

"Never you mind Sugarman." Izumi chuckled, discreetly linking her pinkie with Uraraka as they walked "lets go get some lunch before the good seats are gone!"

WVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVW

Midoriya sighed in bliss as she dug into her Katsudon, "it's not as good as moms." Izumi said, unaware of the arrow she just shot through Lunch Rushes heart, "but damn is it close."

"How do you feel about getting elected, Midoriya?" Tsu asked as she picked at her noodles.

"So long as I get to legally punt that little pervert out a window I'm satisfied." Izumi hummed, making Jirou chortle.

"This is exactly why I nominated Yaoyorozu!" Iida proclaimed, "you should not wish harm on your fellow students Midoriya! No matter how much their depraved attitude grates your nerves!"

"You talk real proper like Iida," Uraraka said around a bite of rice, "are you a rich kid?"

"Uraraka!" Jirou exclaimed, "you can't just ask someone that!"

"Are you?" Izumi asked, now genuinely curious.

"Midoriya…" Yaomomo sighed.

"It's quite alright you two," Iida sighed, "I thought I had hid it well enough, though it appears this is not the case. You are right Uraraka, I am the second son of a prominent hero family!"

"I knew it!" Izumi cheered, "Ingenium right?"

"That's correct!" Iida proclaimed, standing proud, 'My brother is the great Ingenium! The hero of Hosu!"

"That's quite a legacy." Yaomomo hummed, "you must be proud."

"That I am!"

Izumi smiled as her friends continued to laugh and converse, she never really thought she'd be this happy having friends, she'd gone so long without any friends, Clara and Valtha were friends sure, but she only saw them once every other month if that; now she had actual friends and she couldn't help but think it was nice.

The alarm sounding broke her from her thoughts.

"ALARM! LEVEL 3 SECURITY BREACH! ALL STUDENTS REPORT TO YOUR DESIGNATED AREA."

"What's going on?" Uraraka asked worriedly, looking around.

"Excuse me upperclassmen!" Iida called to a passing third year, "what's going on?"

"Level three alarm," The guy said, 'This hasn't happened in all 3 years i've been here! You guys better get out now!"

"Let's listen to him." Jirou said, jumping up and heading towards the exit with the others, Izumi tried to follow, but quickly took to the sky when things started getting too cramped, "hey! Quite acting like assholes!" she shouted at the crowd, but no one was listening, too far into their panic, with a growl Izumi summoned her staff in a clap of thunder, "QUIT ACTING LIKE ASSHOLES!" Izumi boomed, using magic to enhance her voice and making everyone freeze, "This is how UA students act in a crisis?" Izumi asked bluntly.

"Hey! You can't use your quirk like that!" an upperclassman shouted.

"And you shouldn't be stepping on your classmates." Izumi sassed back. "Think about that and ask yourself which of us is in the wrong."

"It's just the media!" Iida called from where he was standing by the window.

"Hoooo boy don't you all look like idiots." Izumi sighed, slowly floating back down, everyone shuffling about in embarrassment, "I suggest you all get to class before anything else happens."

The crowd slowly dispersed, leaving Izumi with her friends.

"You handled that…well…" Momo said carefully.

"About as blunt as a hammer with a nail." Tsu commented, making Jirou chuckle.

"Hey, you're the order and approachability to my whimsical rule." Izumi said innocently, "being nice to idiots is your job, I get to be the hammer."

"At least you did something," Uraraka agreed, "they almost trampled Kirishima and Kaminari!"

"It's disgraceful how our upperclassmen responded to the emergency.'' Iida sniffed, crossing his arms.

"They weren't very helpful in a crisis." Izumi agreed, "Come on guys, let's get to class."

Meanwhile at the UA gate, Hermit and Aizawa were studying the destroyed defenses, "the metal…" Hermit muttered, picking up a twisted, warped piece of what used to be solid steel, "it's decayed…"

"Do you know any magic that can do that?" Aizawa asked.

"I know several spells that could do this," Hermit muttered, looking towards the school as his wards pinged, "but this wasn't magic, pretty sure it's a quirk, but whatever just left UA was definitely magic."

"Left UA?" Aizawa asked in alarm.

"Yes, heavy warding on themselves if I only got their departure, but make no mistake, someone took advantage of the chaos and snuck in…for what, we'll no doubt find out soon."
