A/N :- Written for Yootip Week 2020, hosted by Yootip Amino. The Prompt was "Colours" and I added my own spin to the prompt, settling with a series of snippets occurring at random points in the future.Enjoy!
Blue
She looked into the blue eyes of her son and was reminded of her own self contradiction.
So much for not having blue eyed kids, she shook her head in amusement. Looks like aunt Maya got what she wanted afterall.
Pink
His disheveled wife welcomed him home in his very own Pink shirt. Eyes toying with mischief, hair tousled, the sight took him by surprise. She pulled him in by the tie when his frozen legs simply refused to comly.
"Finally immune to the view?" she smirked.
"Finally enjoying the view," he murmured, lightly kissing the top of her head.
Red
Shin ae hated the colour red cause it reminded her of her Mother's red eyes. She wished she had pretty golden ones like her sister or common brown ones like her father's. She liked Kousuke's azure blue ones too but then a sudden thought gave her a pause.
"Kousuke, do you ever look into your eyes and see your mother?" she was curious.
Kousuke looked up from his laptop and frowned "Why do you see her in mine?" his shoulders tensed up as he waited for her reply. He knew she doesn't like her much. Nobody does.
"No," she finally murmured, "I only see my own reflection."
Brown
Kousuke was out of town for a buisness meeting and on nights like these, Shin ae missed him a lot. She missed his sharp eyes, his socially clueless gestures, his cynical facade, his warmth, his ridiculously overexpensive cologne.
Her brows furrowed and she darted to her closet finally emerging with a rumpled heap of some rich brown fabric she had shoved deep inside her closet in her haste. She carefully unfolded the Rubrebby coat, his one in many, and a fond smile graced her features. She always wore her Dad's brown jacket when she missed him and this ridiculous bit of fancy clothing deserved some attention too.
Black
She ran her hand gently through his jet black hair and the slight frownlines marring his features disappeared as a content smile played on his lips. He likes to lie down on her lap after a particularly hectic day at work and these moments of quiet were some of her favourite too.
"You seem to like my hair a lot," he smiled.
"Look who's talking. I once saw you petting your own hair in the lobby," she scoffed. His hair was really soft. All those expensive hair masks were definitely doing their job.
He frowned, "What are you talking about?"
"Back then.. when you guys had that buisness dinner with your father.. ?"
Kousuke's mind puzzled for a second before the memory hit him. Her step brother had compared it with an egg that day and he had briefly contemplated changing his style.
But in the end, he didn't. He didn't fell prey to social pressure everytime. Yu Jing would be proud.
"What are you smirking about?"
"Thinking about my ex."
And a sharp pull jolted him awake as his raven hair collectively cried out in pain.
Orange
Shin ae loved orange juice. Especially when they were presented to her on a platter with her new favourite crepes.
"I always dreamed of someone fixing me my breakfast," she grinned.
Kousuke settled down beside her, placing lil buddy gently across his lap and pulled his own plate towards him.
"And I dreamed of some company."
White
"How about a.."
"We're not going to a fancy restaurant for our first date. I can't afford it," there was a hint of finality in Shin ae's tone.
Kousuke raised an eyebrow but he nonetheless foraged ahead, "I'll pay. A gentleman ought to pay on the first date".
Shin ae snorted, "I thought you kept fair and square tabs"
He threw her a sharp look and Shin ae reluctantly backpedaled, "I can't have you pay for me Kousuke now that we're dating. It's an insult to my capabilities".
"I didn't mean to.." he quiented down.
"I know," she softened. She couldn't afford anything expensive and at the same time, she couldn't bring herself to be spoiled by him.
Quite a dilemma. She sighed. If only she had some kind of a free pass..
Two white movie tickets flashed in her mind and she rounded on him with ill concealed excitement.
"You funded our movie with Dieter, right?"
He grimaced.
"Make sure I'm not so uncomfortable this time."
she grinned.
Yellow
It had been a particularly bad week for her. College was stressing her out and her family situation was far from being the best at the moment. Juggling assignments and two jobs were taking a heavy toll on her. Adulthood sucks. She sighed. All she wanted was a night out where she could escape. Escape and just forget all her troubles.
"You're here, Ma'am," the cab came to a stop.
A cheery neon yellow sign saying "River street hotel" welcomed her through her window, promising a rich, appetizing meal, some much needed help with her English assignment and a warm homely hug.
Green
A Green eyed boy brought them together. His brother and his soulmate.
Green eyes obseved the intense feelings that waged war in her everytime his brother was near. The vulnerable look she directed his way. They were sometimes filled with so much hurt and other times with so much warmth and hope that it puzzled him.
Was the gamble worthwhile?
But then he saw his brother trying, trying hard for something real for the first time in his life. Caring for someone other. He noticed the subtle changes she brought in his surly behaviour. Hope, radiance, a desire to be better, more deseving.
And a sad smile tugged the corners of his lips.
He wanted the best for his precious friend.
But he wanted his brother happy too.
And if she brings him happiness and he's willing to treasure her forever,
He was glad he brought them together.
