Hiyall! So I haven't yet finished my other stories, but I thought it would be a good idea to start the fanfiction year with a short story! Enjoy! By the way this story takes place during the night that the Alolan gang spends at Aether during the game.

Silence Is The Best Form Of Confession

Moon walked out onto a sort of balcony at Aether Paradise. There were no clouds so the night was clear, the stars shining brightly, twinkling on the inky black sky.

The events of the day kept running in circles in her head, refusing to let her think straight. Lusimine's face, contorted with a malicious grin, also wore down on her brain. As well as that creature she'd summoned. The tentacles reaching down towards Moon… the wrongness of its being…

"What are you doing?"

Moon jumped and spun around. The tall edgelord was standing a few paces away.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you," Gladion said.

"Well then don't sneak up on me!" Moon shot back. Why did Gladion have to be the one here? Couldn't it have been Hau or someone? Him and Moon didn't exactly see eye to eye.

"I'm a generally quiet person, I can't help accidentally spooking someone," he said.

"Then make an effort to be heard!"

Gladion rolled his eyes and walked next to Moon, gripping the balcony's railing. Moon realised that he hadn't even taken his eyeliner off…

"Could you sleep?" Gladion asked.

"No," Moon said, her voice still aggressive. "You?"

She didn't expect him to answer, but he did.

"I don't even bother trying anymore."

"Oh."

They both stared into the night.

"It's beautiful; the view from here," Gladion stated suddenly, startling Moon a little.

"Um… sure?" she replied.

"Too bad you have to be here at Aether to see it…"

"Yeah."

This was strange. Gladion and Moon never agreed on anything, let alone had a nice friendly chat about the sky. Moon kept sending him sideways glances, though if he noticed, he said nothing.

Then Moon's hand accidentally brushed Gladion's. Blushing, Moon moved her hand away. A second later, it was touching Gladion's again.

She looked down. He wasn't doing that on purpose was he?

And then, as Moon watched, he slowly curled his fingers around hers, holding them lightly. She looked at his face. In the dim moonlight, she could just see his cheeks turn red.

What—this—he's touching me—stop—I can't want this—

Moon retracted her hand from his, but it somehow found hers again, this time holding it properly. Moon tried to tug away from him, but failed.

Sighing angrily, or trying to sound something like that, she let it be, but scowled at him before turning back to the sky.

Neither one of them said anything. Moon didn't know what to say. She couldn't even bring herself to think about Gladion's actions right now, the lump in her throat was too tight.

A little silent while later, there was a sudden cold breeze, and Moon shivered. Gladion let go of her hand and put an arm around her.

Her stomach knotting and doing flips, Moon turned a dark crimson, looking up at the taller boy with confusion. He wasn't looking at her, though. Quietly, cautiously, Moon put an arm around Gladion's waist and put her head on his shoulder.

Only then did he look at her, his face riddled with shock and, just like Moon, heavy confusion. He looked down at the hand on his hip, and then back at Moon, as though expecting her to pull away.

But she didn't. Instead, she put her other arm around him, sliding them upwards to give him a tight embrace. The lump in her throat thickened.

Gladion put his arms around her too, and the two of them stood like that for a while, hearts pounding, Moon noticed, in perfect sync.

Gladion scent surrounded Moon as she leaned further into him. The amount of butterflies inside her intesified even more, to a point Moon was sure she'd suffocate.

Then Gladion did something Moon never guessed he would ever do, not in a million years.

He kissed her.

His lips touched her neck, hovering there for a minute before moving away.

It was so light, so quick, but it made Moon's heart thump wildly.

She released him a little from the hug so she could look into his eyes.

Gladion kissed her on the cheek, and then the nose. Three kisses. It was his silent way of saying, 'I want you.'

Moon swallowed hard, and before she knew what she was doing, what she knew he was about to do, she'd cupped his cheeks in her hands and kissed him. He kissed her back.

His lips were warm and gentle, and the kiss was nice. Then she felt his lips parting against hers and was lost. Lost in the rhythm of Gladion's kiss, his tongue dancing with hers, their mouths moulding together.

Eventually, they pulled away, gasping for breath, though their faces still close.

"I think I like you," Moon whispered tentively. "Do you like me?"

Gladion locked his green gaze onto her eyes, then did a curious thing. He reached up and pushed the hair out of his face, tucking it behind his ear. Moon gaped. She'd never seen both of his eyes before. They were beautiful.

"Moon," he said, "I love you."

Thank you Farla for the review, I did read it and understand where you're coming from completely. However, I tried to make it seem like Moon is trying to believe she doesn't like Gladion, whereas he can see that she does. It might be confusing, and I'm sorry, and also I was trying to go to sleep when I came up with the idea for this fic. Soooooo…. I was tired, the characters here are probably tired… it's a fanfiction. Thanks for reading my ramble anyway!
