Hime: Hi! Sorry for the late update, I've been really really busy!
Hope you enjoy!
I don't own anything!
All the chara bearers minus Amber stared at the interior of the plane once they boarded. It was beautiful and a very tasteful use of colours of reds, creams and whites.
"Just how rich is this organization of yours Hinamori?" Kukai asks, curious as he moves to sit next to Tadase who took the window seat at the second row of the left isle.
"This plane belongs to me not the organization."
Almost immediately, everyone turns to stare at the red-haired girl.
"How did you come to own a plane Amu-chan?" Nagi asks, clearly surprised.
"My grandfather Roderick left this jet to me in his will."
After answering her friend's question, she moves to the first pair of the seats of the right aisle. She continues to stand while talking and undoing her hair braid at the same time as she faces the others, "Guys, hurry up and get seated. The plane will disembark soon."
Allen's fingers twitched again, he was feeling nervous and worried. He didn't mind riding actual transport to go back to HQ since he hasn't actually used transport since he had come to be able to use the Ark but he couldn't help but fret over the fact that Amber had yet to tell him about why things had come to this anyway.
Why did Amber forbid him from using the Ark?
"Allen"
The white-haired exorcist to meet eyes with his fellow exorcist and girlfriend, Leenalee Lee.
"Yes?"
"I'm tired, do you mind if I borrow your shoulder?"
Allen smiled and wrapped an arm around the Chinese girl's own shoulders.
"Not at all."
Leenalee smiles and rests her head on his shoulder. Allen was so transparent. She knew he was worrying over the Ark but she trusted Amber. She would never forbid Allen from using the Ark unless she had a good reason and besides, she promised to tell them why once she came back to HQ.
So for now, Allen shouldn't be worrying. He needed to relax and Leenalee will make sure he gets that rest.
Amber sighed deeply watching the three argue.
Were they seriously arguing over this?
"I want to sit next to Amu!" Rima yelled, stomping her foot.
Ikuto smirked, "I'm sure Amu would rather have me next to her than an insufferable brat like you."
"No way! I'm closer to her than any of you so I'm sitting next to her!" Lavi potested.
Amber put a finger to her temple and her chara, Christa knew that something amusing will happen. Amber only did that when she was trying to control her temper, a habit she got from her mother.
"Ma ma! Shouldn't Amu-chan choose who she wants to sit with?" Tadase says, trying to break up the fight.
He had a point and all three turned to Amber, "Who would you rather?"
"Neither one of you. I pick Kanda."
"WHAT?!"
The female exorcist ignored them and went to sit next to the swordsman who watched her with interest. Kanda sat at a window seat at the right isle, the first pair of seats. Amber turned to him once she sat down, "You have no problems with this right?"
"Tch, why would I?"
The copper-eyed girl smiles at him as she shrugs her backpack off her shoulders, "Sit tight. I'll be back once the plane is in the air. I need to talk to the pilot."
She leaves quickly after that, disappearing behind the curtains not giving anyone the chance to stop her or talk to her. Lavi sighs seeing this and move to sit at the left isle in the same row of seats as Kanda. He sits in front of Kukai and turns his head so the two could meet eyes before flashing the brunette a wide friendly grin.
"Yoroshiku ne Kukai, let's get along on this trip ne?"
The jock nodded, he was impressed by how well Lavi spoke Japanese so fluently and at the same time found himself drawn to him. The two did share similar personalities after all so it was natural for Kukai to be curious to get to know him right?
"Passengers, please get in your seats and prepare for take off."
Everyone did as instructed & buckled in, getting ready.
"Walker, Amber is fine."
Allen still looked worried, "B-but-"
"She has Lavi and Kanda with her, they'll protect her from whatever that comes you know that." Leenalee reminds him.
"Also, Amber is more than capable of taking care herself now stop showing that face and just relax with your girlfriend till we get back to HQ."
Allen sighed, "Fine."
"Allen, you misspelled this word."
The white-haired male blinks, realizing the word Leenalee had pointed out to him was wrong. He made an annoyed grunt as he corrected it with his pen.
Amber called him to tell him not to mention he was stabbed by Crown Clown in his report but when he asked why, she told she'll tell him when she gets back to HQ. Until then, don't tell anybody about being stabbed by Crown Clown. Before he could inquire more, she killed the call.
I really hope everything is okay...
"I'm back"
Kanda turns to see Amber smiling sweetly at him as she sits down.
"Hn"
Amber leans forward to him suddenly after sitting down causing Kanda to stiffen in discomfort because she was so close, "Have you done up your report?"
"Yes, why?"
"Mind if I take a look?"
Kanda shrugged, she was team leader after all. He pulled out his knapsack and reached inside for his black folder that had the report. Once he passed it to her, Amber began to read.
Kanda leaned back in his seat and watched her, thinking about her quietly in his mind.
The swordsman remembered thinking she had a nice voice when he first met her because it was pleasant, light and clear without having to speaking quietly yet at the same time the way she carried herself as she went around the room throughout the introductions spoke volumes of her confidence; her posture and small gestures showed him she was someone who valued respect, discipline and order just like himself but after spending the past three months with her at HQ, he just like everyone else became drawn to her charm.
There was no denying it, she was her father's child; smart, beautiful, talented and a damn good fighter. Everywhere she went, she caught people's attention making their heads turn without even trying and just like with General Cross, Kanda always had a gut feeling there was more to the pre-teen that meets the eye.
She spoke too smoothly if anyone asked about her missions. It was common knowledge since she's been here until last month that is, she would go on frequent back to back missions on her own. If you saw her return in the morning, she would leave late in the afternoon. So far since she arrived, he's only seen her at the cafeteria a handful of times and Kanda knew all the times she was because she would always sit at his table without blinking an eye which was strange because nobody ever dared to before. She talked to him about all sorts of things and it was hard to ignore her because when he tried, she would poke him. He tried his usual method of making females running away by calling her troublesome and other things but she would just roll her eyes and call him troublesome for being such an unsociable grouch.
They would talk about the weather, fighting styles, their missions, the other exorcists and whatever else they could think of. If anybody tried to sit with them, he'll glare at them to go away and they did causing Amber to call him a 'meanie' which she does all the time because Kanda was mean. She would tease him that Kanda just wanted her for himself which Kanda just scoffed; although privately, he had to admit that was true.
After the potion incident, they would converse in Japanese which Kanda secretly enjoyed. It was nice to speak to someone who could speak his language so fluently and carry an intelligent conversation.
Yet, it didn't sit well with him how much her voice changed when she talked about her missions. It's as if they were uncomfortable to talk about and was afraid to tell the whole truth. The thought annoyed him. Didn't she trust him? Or was it she wasn't allowed to talk about her missions specifically to begin with?
"Kanda? You okay?"
Amber waves her hand in front of his face and the blue-haired male grabs it, irritated.
"I'm fine."
"Liar, I called your name three times" she tells him hotly.
"Hn"
The witch rolls her eyes at his monotonous answer, "Anyway, I need you to edit the report."
Kanda frowns but before he could ask why, Amber leans towards him, her lips brushing his right cheek and ear causing the swordsman to squeeze her hand that he still held in his hold in surprise.
"I need you to edit out the part where Allen gets stabbed by Crown Clown. Change it to that he was stabbed by some random sword one of the twins brought out of nowhere."
"Why?"
He turned to see her face and was quick to notice that look of hesitation in her eyes. It was the same look she flashes every time he asks her how her mission went.
Kanda intertwines his fingers with her small ones; moving their hands to his lap as he looked at her with concern, unable to help himself, "Kit?"
"Allen shouldn't have been hurt by Crown Clown. It shouldn't be possible. The sword can't hurt humans."
Kanda froze, she was right. He had completely forgotten about that.
"So why was moyashi hurt then?"
"The Noah in him is getting stronger that's why."
She sounded sad and Kanda didn't like that, he squeezed his hand in hers to comfort her. Amber bites her lip, feeling the warmth of his hand.
Sometimes she hated being near Kanda, he made her feel like he could see through her. She knew Kanda could tell when she gave one of her not so best lies. She knew how piercing his eyes could be. That's why she avoided talking about her missions or her past. They were tied with her emotions and she knew he could read her if she tried to lie.
"Kit-"
She pulled away, refusing to make eye contact with him.
I really have to be careful around him...
