~Introduction~
My name is Sioku Marie.
I am a 14-year-old Pokemon trainer from Vermillion City.
I was born with a special power that allows me to heal people's wounds with magic energy.
My goal is to become a professional healer.
I enjoy traveling, meeting new people and Pokemon, friendly battles, and bonding with my own team of Pokemon.
My biggest fear is absolutely everything involved with medical facilities.
I've went through some medical trauma when I was a little kid.
I've been traveling alone on a journey around the Pokemon World since the day I turned ten.
I am currently in the Unova Region.
My Pokemon team is: Flareon, Dragonite, Ampharos, Milotic, Leafeon, and Stoutland.
I also have three gym badges in Unova.
~Morning: at a Pokemon Center~
I woke up in a small guest room.
Sunlight shined brightly through the windows, illuminating the area.
I was dressed in my pink fuzzy pajamas.
I curiously looked over at an alarm clock on a small wooden table beside me.
The screen read: 9:00 AM.
I let out a yawn as I stretched.
After stepping onto the floor, I made the bed.
I then changed into a new outfit.
My outfit contained blue socks, a pair of blue jeans and a green T-shirt.
I then slipped on a pair of black tennis shoes and a fluffy, red sweater.
After packing up my belongings, I grabbed my Pokeballs and headed out the door.
The Pokemon center wasn't busy this morning.
I pressed the round button on Flareon's Pokeball in order to let her out.
The fire type Pokemon Flareon happily walked by my side while wagging her long, fluffy tail.
"Hi Flareon," I greeted as I petted her.
The fox Pokemon nuzzled my shoulder in response.
My Pokemon and I quietly made our way down the empty corridor.
We eventually reached the front door.
I carefully led Flareon down a busy street once we exited the Pokemon center.
We were in Nimbasa City.
Many people and Pokemon passed by as they went about their business.
On my way to the gym, I stopped at a shop to buy more medicine for my Pokemon.
I purchased a few paralysis potions and antidotes to heal against poison.
Afterward, I entered the amusement park on the right side of town.
Elesa's gym was located next to the roller coaster building on the far side of the park.
I slowly pushed the door open and entered.
Flareon and I were immediately greeted by the sound of loud music blaring throughout the space.
There were bright lights shining everywhere.
The interior of this gym looked like there was a dance party going on.
A huge disco ball hung down from the ceiling.
I cautiously moved a bit further to get a closer look at my surroundings.
It turned out to be a fashion show.
Elegantly dressed girls were posing and taking pictures.
One girl waved to Elesa as she spotted Flareon and me standing still near a tall speaker.
"Excuse me Mis Elesa, you have a new challenger! I'll bring her to you," she called out.
Elesa cheered as she waved back.
"Please come this way mis," instructed the lady.
I nodded before following her down a pathway.
We eventually stopped in front of a battle field.
Across the battle arena stood a tall woman with short blond hair and bright blue eyes.
She had on bright yellow stiletto high heals, thick opaque black tights, a black top, a yellow sleeveless top over it, and a pair of red, white, and blue headphones with long cords on the sides.
"Good morning, my name is Elesa. Thank you for coming," the woman greeted politely.
"Hello Elesa, my name is Sioku. I look forward two our gym battle," Ireplied before bowing.
The girl who helped me stood beside Elesa.
"The gym battle between Elesa the gym leader and Sioku the challenger is about to begin! Each trainer will use three Pokemon each! The battle will be over when all three Pokemon on either side are unable to continue! The challenger Sioku may have the first move," she announced.
This was it, my fourth badge was on the line.
I took a deep breath and held up a Pokeball.
"Okay Ampharos, you're up first!" I called.
The electric type Pokemon Ampharos popped out of its Pokeball and stood in front of me.
Its tail sparked wildly in excitement.
I couldn't Help but giggle at that.
Flareon sat down behind me to watch.
Elesa also held up a Pokeball. "Emolga, come on out!"
The electric and flying type Pokemon Emolga flew into the air after popping out of its Pokeball.
Emolga's wings created a slight gust of wind.
"Battle... begin," declared the other lady.
I smiled confidently at Ampharos. "All right, let's start by using power gem!"
Ampharos charged forward, jumped high in the air, and then struck Emolga with a powerful attack.
"Nice shot Ampharos," I praised.
Ampharos wagged its tail in response.
Emolga fell to the ground with a hard thud.
"Oh no, Emolga! Are you all right?" asked Elesa.
The determined Emolga's body sparked with electricity as it slowly rose back into the air.
"That's great Emolga," praised Elesa.
The Pokemon flapped its wings in response.
"Use volt switch," she commanded.
Emolga shocked Ampharos before quickly returning to its Pokeball.
Ampharos only shook it off.
Elesa proudly held up a second Pokeball. "Okay Zebstrika, come on out!"
The electric type zebra Pokemon Zebstrika confidently galloped onto the battle field.
I stared at Zebstrika's long, orgeous mane in admiration.
"Wow Elesa, your Pokemon looks beautiful. You've raised it well," I complemented.
"Thank you very much Sioku," she replied.
Elesa then pointed to her patient Pokemon. "Let's start by using flame charge!"
Flames built up in Zebstrika's body as it charged straight toward Ampharos.
"Look out Ampharos," I shouted.
Ampharos looked up at me in response.
Before it had a chance to move, Ampharos was struck in the side by a jet of flames.
"Good work Zebstrika," praised Elesa.
My Pokemon cried out in pain as it stumbled backward.
"Ampharos... no!" I called sadly.
Flareon's fur began to heat up as she fearfully watched the battle between Ampharos and Zebstrika.
"Don't worry Flareon," I assured.
My Pokemon's entire body sparked wildly as it stood up wearing a determined expression.
"That's the spirit," I said happily.
"Use signal beam," I commanded.
Ampharos launched a beam of energy at Zebstrika.
Zebstrika swiftly dodged Ampharos' signal beam by hopping out of the way.
"Follow Zebstrika and use thunder punch," I added.
Electricity built up inside Ampharos' arm as it raced toward Zebstrika with intent.
"Let him have it," I hollered.
Ampharos lifted its left paw and slammed it against Zebstrika's back, paralyzing the Pokemon in place.
Zebstrika tried moving but to no avail.
Ampharos had an advantage at this point.
I decided to use this opportunity right away.
"Attack again with swift," I commanded.
Ampharos repeatedly swatted Zebstrika with its front paws, causing the opponent to lay down.
"Zebstrika, use volt switch, now!" called Elesa.
Zebstrika shocked Ampharos before disappearing.
"Come back to the field Emolga," said Elesa while pressing the button on her Pokeball.
Emolga popped out and flew into the air.
"Use quick attack," she commanded.
"Counter that move with another thunder punch," I called to Ampharos.
Our Pokemon's moves collided with each other, creating a small explosion.
Electric sparks flew around the arena.
"Use signal beam," I added.
Ampharos launched another beam of energy which knocked Emolga down to the ground.
"Now use swift," I commanded.
Emolga attempted to rise again, but it was repeatedly struck by Ampharos' attack.
"Hey Emolga, can you still battle?" asked Elesa.
Emolga didn't have the strength to respond.
Elesa's Pokemon couldn't fight anymore.
"Emolga is unable to battle! The first win goes to Sioku," announced the referee.
Flareon wagged her tail at me.
Elesa returned Emolga to its Pokeball. "You really put up a fight Emolga, take a good rest now.
I picked up Ampharos' Pokeball and smiled. "Good job Ampharos, thank you for your effort."
Ampharos disappeared into its Pokeball.
I confidently held up another Pokeball. "All right Leafeon, you're up next!"
The grass type Pokemon Leafeon popped out of its Pokeball and walked gracefully onto the field.
Elesa also held up a Pokeball. "Flaaffy, come on out!"
The electric type sheep Pokemon Flaaffy emerged onto the battle field.
"Leafeon, use energy ball," I started.
A massive ball of energy erupted from Leafeon's body and landed beside Flaaffy.
"Dodge it now," Elesa said suddenly.
Flaaffy deflected the energy ball with its tail.
The energy ball quickly dissipated and vanished.
"Flaaffy, use take down," she commanded.
Flaaffy immediately charged forward and tackled Leafeon to the ground.
Leafeon tried to struggle itself out from under Flaaffy.
"Leafeon! Aim an energy ball upward," I instructed.
Leafeon aimed another ball of energy toward the ceiling, instantly launching Flaaffy high into the air.
Flaaffy hit the ground with a hard thud.
Leafeon rolled itself over before standing up.
"Are you okay Flaaffy?" asked Elesa concerned.
The sheep Pokemon slowly stood up.
"That's great," she added.
Flaaffy shook off in response.
"Use thunder wave," she instructed.
Flaaffy aimed a wave of electricity at Leafeon, paralyzing it in the process.
Leafeon attempted to move but to no avail.
I stared down at my Pokemon with a worried expression.
"Use take down again Flaaffy," ordered Elesa.
Flaaffy charged forward a second time.
"Leafeon, use leaf blade as soon as Flaaffy comes close to you!" I hollered competitively.
As Flaaffy swiftly approached, Leafeon struck its opponent with a sharpened leaf.
"Nice shot Leafeon," I praised.
Flaaffy stumbled backward in pain.
"You can do it Flaaffy," Elesa encouraged.
Flaaffy stood up and tackled Leafeon to the ground.
Leafeon took a direct hit.
"Heal yourself with photosynthesis," I told Leafeon.
Leafeon slowly healed itself by absorbing the sunlight that shined in through the windows.
"Flaaffy, use volt switch," commanded Elesa.
Flaaffy shocked Leafeon before disappearing.
Elesa held up Zebstrika's Pokeball.
"Come back to the arena," she called out.
Zebstrika emerged onto the battle field.
"Use flame charge," she instructed.
Leafeon attempted to move out of the way, but paralysis prevented it from doing so.
Flames built up inside Zebstrika's body as it charged toward Leafeon from behind.
Zebstrika slammed its flaming body into Leafeon, knocking the Pokemon down instantly.
"Oh no, my poor Leafeon! Are you all right?" I said sadly while rushing to its side.
Leafeon lay still in response.
My Pokemon wasn't able to fight anymore.
"Leafeon is unable to battle! The win goes to Elesa," announced the referee.
I pressed the button on Leafeons Pokeball to open it.
"Leafeon, you fought really well out there. Thanks for working hard," I praised.
Leafeon disappeared into its Pokeball.
Elesa and I now have two Pokemon left.
I confidently picked up Ampharos' Pokeball.
"It's your turn to come back," I said happily.
Ampharos rushed onto the field with its tail sparking.
"You look ready to go," I added before laughing.
ampharos wagged its tail in response.
"Use signal beam," I commanded.
Ampharos launched a beam of energy at Zebstrika.
Zebstrika tried to dodge it but was frozen in place by the effect of paralysis.
The signal beam hit Zebstrika directly.
"Follow it up with swift," I ordered.
Ampharos hit Zebstrika with another attack.
"Try to use flame charge," suggested Elesa.
Zebstrika charged forward slower than normal.
"Use thunder punch to block those flames," I commanded with a smile.
Ampharos raised its sparking paw once again as Zebstrika moved closer to it.
Our Pokemon's attacks collided with one another a second time, creating a bigger explosion.
The combination of electricity and fire caused direct damage to both of our Pokemon.
Neither Pokemon moved from their spot.
"Ampharos and Zebstrika are both unable to battle! This match is a draw," announced the referee.
I returned Ampharos to its Pokeball.
"Thank you for your hard work," I said softly.
"You fought hard Zebstrika," Elesa continued.
Elesa held up her final Pokeball.
"Come back Flaaffy," she said.
Flaaffy emerged onto the battle arena.
Its tail sparked wildly in excitement.
I pointed at Flareon who was patiently sitting behind me. "Flareon, its your turn."
Flareon excitedly hopped onto the field.
I couldn't help but laugh at that.
"Your Pokemon is full of spirit," Elesa complemented.
"She gets it from me," I replied.
Flareon wagged her tail while staring at me.
"Use thunder wave," Elesa began.
Flaaffy released a wave of electricity at Flareon.
"Counter it with flare blitz," I commanded.
A fireball shot from Flareon's mouth and cleared away the thunder wave before it could paralyze her.
"Dig under ground," I ordered.
Flareon used her front paws to dig a tunnel under the floor before quickly crawling into it.
She remained hidden and waited patiently.
"Look out Flaaffy," called Elesa.
Flaaffy looked up at her in response.
Before Flaaffy had a chance to move, Flareon popped out of her hiding place and attacked the Pokemon.
Flaaffy was knocked to the ground by a direct hit.
The sheep Pokemon lay still to regain its energy.
"Flaaffy, no!" shouted Elesa.
A few minutes later, Flaaffy slowly got back on its feet.
Elesa grinned while watching her Pokemon rise.
"Use take down," she commanded.
Flaaffy began to charge toward Flareon.
"Use psychic now," I countered.
Flareon slowly lifted herself above the ground by focusing on her telekinetic powers.
A blast of energy collided with Flaaffy as it slammed directly into her.
Both Pokemon took damage and stumbled backward.
Flareon stood up and shook off.
"Let's wrap this up with solar beam," I said proudly.
Flareon stood completely still which allowed solar energy to build up inside her body.
She then launched a powerful beam of light at Flaaffy.
The beam came in direct contact with Flaaffy, and it was instantly knocked out.
"Flaaffy is unable to battle! This victory goes to the challenger Sioku," announced the referee.
Elesa returned Flaaffy to its Pokeball.
"Thank you for your effort," she said warmly.
I joyfully threw my arms around Flareon and hugged her tight. "We did it!"
Flareon wagged her tail in response.
Elesa reached into her bag and pulled out an object.
She then presented it to me.
"Congratulations Sioku, you and your Pokemon have earned the volt badge," she said happily.
"Thank you very much," I replied.
I gently took the new badge from her and slipped it into a slot inside my badge case.
Flareon excitedly wagged her tail as she jumped on me.
I ruffled her fur in response.
"Elesa, I really enjoyed our battle. Thank you," I added.
"Take care," she replied.
With my fourth gym badge acquired, Flareon and I began making our way back toward the exit.
Elesa's friends took many pictures of Flareon and I as we walked proudly down the isle.
I happily led Flareon out of the amusemen park and toward the Pokemon center.
I carefully opened the door before entering.
The sound of constant beeping made me feel uneasy.
My heart began to race as I tried to push away those haunting memories from my past.
Sweat dripped down my forehead.
A wave of nausea washed over me.
Flareon nuzzled my neck in a comforting way.
I focused on Flareon to distract myself.
Nurse Joy healed all three of my Pokemon as soon as I approached the front desk.
"Congrats on your win Sioku," said Nurse Joy.
"Thank you very much," I replied.
Flareon emerged from her Pokeball once again before we exited the Pokemon center.
