Kanda awoke to soft sheets, and the morning light trickled in through the blinds. Shedding himself of the remaining glimpses of a dream much to his displeasure as it was a really nice dream of himself and Kit, his eyes were still shut as he soaked in the warmth of his covers before letting his blue eyes see the sun's rays.

He hears a soft sound to his left and finds his Kit burrowing herself into the warm, soft sheets, her head still using his arm as a pillow. He pulls her in closer and gives her a small kiss on the nose before resting his chin on her forehead.

Kanda wondered how did they slip up and gave the twins the opportunity to escape. As far as he knew, nobody in the team managed to make contact yet. He sighs heavily, it was such a pain...the undercover and the disguises. The mission ended far earlier than he expected. Now, the team were on their way back. It was their first night sleeping in the jet and he insisted to sleep together with Amber in her room as her bodyguard while the other two on their team bunked outside in their seats. He smirks, enjoying the fact that he got to sleep in a bed while his colleagues slept uncomfortably.

The redhead at his side nuzzles against him, turning his attention back to her. He wondered why Amber wasn't as upset about the mission though. She was looking forward to the mission the most. He wondered what was going on in her head sometimes.

"K-kanda?"

He smirks at her still sleepy face before leaning to kiss her but Amber stopped him with her hand, giving the excuse that he hasn't brushed his teeth yet. He replies back smugly that she hasn't either and without another word, he lifts her onto him and begins kissing at her throat with his hands firmly holding onto her hips.

"M-mmmh K-kanda..."

"Shush, being away from you for so long and not being able to touch you like this nearly drove me mad you know."

She blushes hard and tilts her head to kiss his lips, his deep voice ringing in her ears as he continued touching her soft skin under the sheets.

" HUH?! What you mean you want to sever the tracking bond now? "

Cross raises an eyebrow, patting his prodigal daughter on the head as she sat in his lap, watching the Japanese exorcist before him.

"The bond wasn't going to be a long term thing you know. It was just something I did to remind my cute child that I am her father and she needs to obey."

"Daddy mean..." Amber playfully pouts causing Cross to just ruffle her hair even more.

Link who was besides the aggravated samurai, breathes deeply as he felt a migraine coming on; he wasn't sure if he could ever get used to seeing Cross Marian in a Supervisor uniform or hopelessly coddling his daughter every time she returned to him.

"But wait does that mean I'm not her bodyguard anymore?"

Allen blinked and turned to look at Kanda's face and just as he thought, the samurai looked perplexed. He really does care about her. Before he could continue being surprised that Kanda had a heart under his hard exterior, Cross began speaking again.

"Nope, you two will still share a room. I'm just loosening the corset a bit."

Amber rolls her eyes at the metaphor and without another word, she reaches ahead and takes the glass in her hand.

Bridget had placed a glass on the table just as Cross had first mentioned to sever the tracking bond. She gulps the liquid down and Kanda curses quietly to himself when he sees the rune on his hand bit by bit disappear just after she did so.

"Report back to me tomorrow for your new missions. Kanda you may go back and rest first. I have to talk with my daughter for a while."

Kanda wanted to argue but seeing the look on smaller redhead's face, he decided not to and together with the others, he turned and walked away, vowing he would make Amber pay.

It was hours later when Amber came back to her room, she could hear the shower running and she breathed a sigh of relief. She knew Kanda was pissed about severing the bond but the bond was a huge pain the ass. She could not physically travel too far from Kanda and it was putting a dampener on her magic. She needed her magic at full strength if she was going to continue searching for the way to help Allen.

She sighs heavily, her mind drifting back to Kanda. She wondered what exactly were they. Were they boyfriend and girlfriend now? Or were they just good friends who felt each other up under their shirts and made out in bed only to sleep soundly next to each other till morning?

She could feel her cheeks heating up.

Why did she do those things with Kanda?

Because she liked him?

Or because the witch part of her was bugging her endlessly about the uselessness of complete abstinence.

The witch part was easy to control but after her Maturing, she found it harder to keep her tiny nuisance in her head quiet. It did not help that Kanda was incredibly handsome with divine hands and a mouth that could set her whole body in fire.

Blushing even redder, she hid her face with a pillow; the weight of her purity ring becoming heavier on her finger.

Sigh...maybe its better I leave first...

Later, Lavi was on his way to the dining hall when another lanky fellow fell on top of him, causing him to groan. He tried to get up but the person was too heavy.

"Damn, what the hell?"

"MOVE BAKA USAGI!"

Kanda tried to get up but somehow his hand got looped in with Lavi's scarf during their tumble so both teens were just a huge mess of limbs. The corridor got noisy then and whoever passed by, tried their best not to look at them because Kanda look ready to kill the poor redhead and Lavi just about had enough.

"GET OFF!"

"What's your damn rush?! YOU FELL ON ME BAKANDA!"

"She left!"

Lavi blinked and finally in the longest time, he sees an emotion other than anger in Kanda's eyes.

Kanda was presently feeling a kind of sadness that seeped into his bones; his body seemed to grow colder and his mind seemed to fill with a leaden feeling, his face remained stubbornly dry and so he grieved inwardly.

"She left without me..."

Lavi was confused and was about to ask the samurai was his problem was until he found a piece of paper on the floor, with a flick of his wrist; he lifted it enough to see what it read.

Dear Kanda,

I been tasked to go on a solo mission so I will see you when I get back. It may take months but definitely within the year I will see you again. I had to leave straight away and I didn't want to interrupt you shower. I will miss you but I will see you soon so take care!

PS: Don't bother complaining to my father. He made it clear that it has to be a one-person operation. Don't worry about me.

Best,
Amber Amulette Hinamori Marian

Lavi grimaced after finishing the note. He seriously wondered how Amber could leave such a blunt, straightforward note like that for her friend to read. He looks up at Kanda and wondered what was going on in his mind.

"She said she'll be back within the year. You don't have to worry so much. It was probably really important."

Kanda wanted to say something but he knew he couldn't, not to Lavi who likely liked Amber as much as he did. Kanda was feeling so much that it was unusual. What could he possibly say to explain?

He just wanted to be by her side.
