Amber awoke to the sun rays pouring through her room window, surmising that a day has passed. Kanda laid next to her in her bed, sleeping with his arms around her protectively. She couldn't help but smile and leaned toward him to kiss him but then realised she felt something foreign on her skin. Amber lifted her arms, moving her hands to her field of vision & her eyes widened realising the someone bandaged her hands. The redhead turned her head to her right to see the vanity mirror and was shocked to see that whoever it was that administered her medical treatment had practically bandaged half of her body as well. She wondered how badly injured was she in that last fight with the Noah?
Amber moved to get up, insistent on finding out only to realise Kanda was awake and tightened his hold on her.
"Move again, and I'll bite you."
Amber pouts but relents relatively quickly to lay back down before she leaned in to kiss his brow. Kanda's body language changed in response, it was clear he was more awake now, yet his voice still sounded sluggish.
"Kiss me again then I won't let you leave this bed till noon."
Amber lets out a laugh, unable to help herself. The samurai pulls her close, burying her face in his bare chest and she stopped laughing. She let herself drown in his natural musky scent.
"Do not scare me like that again."
She nods her head, whispering, "You know I don't do that on purpose."
"Yet I'm still going to worry" he responds softly.
They say nothing else after that, just holding on to each other.
Lavi and Leenalee watched awkwardly as Link and Amber stared each other down. Amber sitting up in bed with bandages all over her body and Link standing at the foot of the bed. The silence was broken by Kanda who sat at her right side, still shirtless for some reason.
"I'll stab you to death the moment I decide you're untrustworthy. Remember that, damn watchdog."
Link turned, and his eyes narrowed at the samurai, causing Amber to sigh in exasperation as she watched the two glare at each other.
"Bottom line is we are trying to save Allen, you may spew some pretty words you think I would accept as some reformed reason, but it doesn't mean we have to trust in them especially when you won't tell us the full story of how and why you're still alive. As far as we're concerned, I take your presence here as a hindrance in my mission."
Link's expression became grim at her words. Amber's face was cold and stern; she was not going to give him the time of day unless he became transparent wit her on what his true intentions were. He wondered what would be the best course of action at this point.
Kanda suddenly stiffens, his sense of smell catching a scent he did not expect. Amber was the first to notice this; she eyed him carefully as she noted his beading brow and white knuckles. Kanda practically shot up out his chair in the next minute, clearly perplexed before taking off into a sprint with his Mugen in hand, everyone shouting after him asking him what was wrong.
Blood!
Allen Walker turns his head to find the Mugen pressed up against his neck with Kanda staring down at him menacingly, accusing him of being the 14th. Allen stammered pathetically with sweat coming down his skin.
"UWAHH!? W-wait! W-wait! W-what the hell is this?"
"I'm asking you if you're the 14th!"
"Wha-? The 14th?! No, I'm Allen!"
"A LIE!"
"I'm not lying; I'm Allen! What the hell happened Kanda?"
"Then explain THAT!"
Allen turned, and a horrified expression came over his face when he sees Johnny Gil there, lying motionless with a tiny pool of blood on the pillow his head was resting.
Kanda's muscles tensed, unsure of what to do until he sees a flash of red and his eyes finally adjusted to see it was Amber leaning over Johhny's body with her hands glowing gold as she whispered words incoherent to him, most likely a spell. The two teenagers watched as the pool of blood disappears, and the small open would on the back of Johnny's head slowly closes up again. Amber observes Johnny, eventually breathing a sigh of relief when she sees his body substantially relax, and his chest moving as he begins to sleep soundly.
"I had cast a spell; Johnny is in healing sleep. He should be fine, but if I weren't here, he would at least at the minimum had a nasty head trauma there. Anyone care to explain?"
Unbeknownst to Kanda, Allen had shaken off his hold and backed up on the bed looking distraught and confused. The samurai only noticed this when he hears Allen's pitiful whimpers.
"No...no...no..."
Amber tilted her head, looking at him carefully before finally speaking, "Allen, you cannot lose hope you hear me?"
Allen turns to look at her, and only then did he realise her body was covered in bandages from neck to toe, "What happened to you?"
She waves him off, telling him it was unimportant before coming toward him and placing a hand on his shoulder. "There is someone you need to see Allen, come on & get in the shower. I can bring breakfast to you. "
Allen could help but blush at her calm and warm tone of voice; she affectionately brushes her fingers in his hair smiling at him gently. Amber's natural scent filled his nostrils, putting him at ease. It wasn't long for him to comply with her suggestion, especially when he was getting hungry. He gets up to leave for the bathroom, and Kanda follows after him quickly, intent on making sure Allen/14th doesn't try to escape.
The samurai turns his head a little to see Amber sitting on the bed this time; her expression confounded as she ran a hand through her hair, clicking her tongue in annoyance.
Kanda couldn't help but admire how in control she was of her moods and actions at times. She was soft and sweet in one minute, and the next, her posture was stiff and poised for attack, her expression unfathomable.
He hoped she would explain things to him later because if Kanda had to be honest with himself, he figured that whatever Amber was rationalising in her head, it wasn't going to bode well for Allen.
