Chap. 1

7/8/2011

The sun's rays attacked the poor skin of the humans in the car. Even though there was a window between them and the sun, they could still feel the sunburn sets in. The dry air of the desert landscape outside got pushed into the car by the air vents. Which we're trying desperately to cool down the inside of the automobile. In the air vent's desperate attempts to cool down the automobile was four humans, all of which sat in intense silence that filled the car. Punishing anyone who dared to think, except for a man named Mike Caspian, who's an expert in his field of zoology. Specifically the biology of Eeveelutions.

"So... is anyone going to tell me if I got the job... Or what the job even is?" The scientist asked.

"like it can't be that top-secret," Mike said, poking fun at the men in black want-to-be, though he was a little bit oblivious to what his new job might entail.

"First off, based on what I heard, this is your interview. second off, if we knew anything about your job, we would be under strict order to stay silent or risk losing your jobs." The driver said.

"and a lawsuit." one of the other two guys muttered quickly at the end of the driver's comment.

"Ok then, why is this job so top-secret."

"well, I don't know about you, but I like my job, so I'm not going to risk telling you anything." The driver said.

"ok then." and with that final remark, the car fell back into tenses silence. The only sound that could be heard was the sounds of cars passing by on the road. And even that was a rarity. This quickly got boring to Mike, who found the mountain in the distance to be more entertaining than the endless road he found himself on. Luckily for Mike and his short attention span, they pulled into the place of his supposed employment. A massive fenced-in building made Mike question how he didn't see it before then. There were Pokemon of all types just wandering around in the fenced-in area. Weirdly though, they all look bored or depressed.

"Ok, these two are going to lead you to the job interview, so don't get lost." The driver instructed, letting them out of the car. The bodyguards hopped out of the vehicle first. Not caring to hear what the driver had to say, Mike followed shortly after. As they walked to the entrance, Mike noted that he was the most underdressed person in this place. And it wouldn't have surprised him if there were more guards than there were people.

"Are you Mike Caspian, the zoology?" Two guards over by a reception desk asked Mike.

"Yeah," Mike responded, a little taken aback by how they knew so much about him.

"ID." One of the guards almost demanded, a bit of shuffling through a wallet later. And Mike was being escorted through and up an elevator. The four of the guards just sat in the elevator in complete silence. The only thing that Mike was thinking about was what question he could ask about this place without getting the cold shoulder. When the question came to him, all five of them were already stepping off the elevator. But this didn't deter him from asking.

"How far away is this place that you want me to go to?"

"right here." One of the many guards said, pointing to a wooden door with a gold Placker that read "lead director of the Eeveelution department for SIS Foundation's office." The SIS Foundation. Oh hell no, am I working with the SIS Foundation. I would gladly voluntarily go get a job at a fast-food restaurant than get a fat paycheck that was born out of blood and torture.

"Are you going to go in?" The guard asked in a stern tone.

"Oh, yeah, just this is his office? I thought it would be a little bit more... you know." The wooden door was just that a wooden door, no security system, no guards, not even a lock on the door itself.

"Well... he's waiting." The guard nudged impatiently. Well shit. I'm not working for these people, but I can't leave now. I'll just wait it out. Mike opened the door to the office, where there was a burgundy color deck with three Eeveelutions in front of it. The Eeveelutions were all bound by muzzles and shock collars. Behind the desk was what Mike presumed to be his interviewer. The guards that were previously behind the door were now walking in, lining themselves along the wall.

"This is my interview, right?" Mike asked. His eyes were attentively gazing into the interviewer's eyes.

"Yes, I'm John, now have a seat," He said, pulling over two chairs so that they were in the middle of the room, In front of the Eeveelutions. Mike gave a glance at the Eeveelutions, making sure that all three saw him looking. Then look back a the interviewer.

"So, what am I going to do at this job?" Mike asked, relaxing his posture noticeably compared to the uptight guards.

"Your job, if you get it, is to conduct experiments and get a better understanding of how their powers can be used."

"How do you want to use their power?" Mike asked.
