"Thank you, dad, for cooking dinner!" A 5-year-old by the name of Carter complemented his dad's cooking. The Christmas feast laid sprawled out across the dinner table as the oldest son washed up.
"Yeah, anything for you two little munchkins." his dad said, grabbing him and rubbing the hair on his head in a playful manner before letting go.
"Now, I got one last special present for both of you, but you have to wait here while I get it." The dad said, taking his coat off the wall and directing the last sentence at his youngest.
"Another present." Carter's eyes lit up.
"What is it!"
"I don't know. You'll have to wait and see."
"You don't know what you got us." The oldest poked holes in his lie from the sink, which was visible from the front door.
"I don't know. I guess I forgot." The dad said with obvious sarcasm before he slipped out the door.
"oh, look like someone getting old." The oldest jabbed at his dad, who was out the door.
Outside, the powdered snow fell down in small soft flakes that were appealing to the eyes. The crunching of freshly laid snow complemented the weight of David's boots as he walked over to the car that just pulls in. It was the average amount of snow for someone in Idaho, though the temperature would disagree.
"Merry Christmas, David! Bella has been itching to come over and meet you." David's coworker said while opening the door to the backseat.
"She is really well behaved too."
"Great, glad to hear that she didn't give you too much trouble." David joked, leaning on the front hood of the car.
"come on, Bella, let's go with your new family." The coworker said, leading a younger-looking leafeon out of the car. The leafeon's tan fur stood out amongst the snowy backdrop that was David's yard. The brown leather bag around the leafeon was also something that stood out, especially in David's eye.
"What's that bag around, Bella?" David referenced the brown bag that looked to be glued to her side.
"Oh, that. It has everything that you would need to take care of an Eeveelution, besides this." The coworker pulled out a vanilla folder with the words 'how to take care of a pokemon, leafeon addition' written on the front.
"Thank you. Now Bella won't die to the boy's stupidity." David joked with a hardy laugh that only a dad could muster, but you could hear an audible scoff from Bella.
"Well, someone doesn't appreciate my jokes."
