13. Note of Cancellation (I'm sorry)

Author's Note:

Um… Hey guys… Heh heh. Okay, before you are tempted to kill me, yes, I do know how disappointing and crappy this is but sadly it is the truth. If you have already looked at the title, then you probably already know what I mean… Legacy of Darkness (alongside the third planned instalment) is cancelled. Why? Well, multiple reasons.

1: As I was writing the last 3-4 chapters and I looked through my notes for the overall story and chapters I found myself dissatisfied. I had no clue why because when I went through it in my head things seemed to be going smoothly, until I looked closer. Character arcs not having the right kind of payoff, the emotional weight of the story feeling almost non-existent at times and parts of the story just making little sense in terms of character decisions and motivations. I have tried multiple changes, but I've found that the story itself just doesn't seem to be salvageable (in my eyes at least).

2: I was so excited to do a sequel to fragile hearts (my pride and joy) that I essentially rushed out of the gate with the first few chapters of this story. I only had ideas in my head for how it would turn out later on, not a proper thought-out story. I didn't give it enough time to flesh itself out in my head than I needed it to.

3: University. Time is approaching and my final year at uni is picking up in terms of workload, therefore having to work on this on the side will most likely give me a massive burnout which is something I cannot afford to have right now.

The main point here is… I am sorry. I look at this story now and I am just dissatisfied with how everything fits and looks. Compared to fragile hearts, it looks nowhere near as good, and you guys deserve better than that. Will I ever return to the idea of a fragile hearts sequel? Possibly, but as for when I have no clue. Until that point you will most likely get more one-shots and maybe some smaller projects if I have the time.

I would like to thank everyone for the patient and undying support, you guys have been absolutely amazing. I'm extremely sorry for doing this but you guys deserve stories that are more well thought out than this. (Also, I know I'm breaking a rule here but I honestly didn't see a better way to do this.)
