Inspired by the movie on Netflix && the Broadway show 'Prom'
The small apartment is quiet, aside from the movie playing on the television screen. Sitting on the couch, Barry is content with the woman curled up in his arms. He can smell her heavenly shampoo mixed with the faint scent of her perfume. He smiles down at the beauty then leans down to place a tender kiss on her forehead.
Her face scrunches in slight confusion as she looks up at him. "What was that for?" she smiles.
"Because I wanted to," he chuckles then leans back to lay another kiss on her.
She giggles at the affection, leaning into his touch. "I'm not complaining," she smiles then turns back to the movie at hand.
Luckily for them, the meta crime rate has been at an all-time low. In turn, they are able to enjoy a simple day together. Popcorn half-eaten on the coffee table, a blanket covering both of them, Caitlin wrapped in his arms, and a movie to watch together.
It is Caitlin's turn to pick and after hearing of this new movie dropping on Netflix and knowing Barry's love for musicals she picked 'Prom'.
"We should go to New York City one day and maybe go watch a Broadway show," she says, turning her head to look up at him. "What do you think?"
"Hmm, sounds exciting," he smiles. "It might be nice to see one instead of being in one," he chuckles, thinking of the time with Music Meister.
She playfully rolls her eyes. "Oh, don't act like you didn't enjoy singing," she giggles. "You have such a great voice," she adds, looking at him with admiration.
"No!" He chuckles, shaking his head. "The singing was fun but, aside from my shower head only you had heard me sing - at the time," he bites his inner cheek, looking at her with intimacy. "I kinda liked the idea of it being our thing, you know?"
Her cheeks blush to a cute crimson that she tries to hide by burying her face into his chest. He chuckles and holds her tight - close as possible. "Yeah," she mumbles with a smile. Lifting her head up, chin on his chest, "It was nice for the time being."
Barry half-smiles, leaning forward to brush his lips against hers. "Maybe Broadway can be our thing then?"
"Maybe," she side nods, her eyes with mirth closing the gap for a short passionate kiss. Smiling in satisfaction, she lays back against his chest.
"Maybe," Barry repeats under his breath, holding her tight.
They continue to watch the movie scene after scene with comments from Caitlin every now and again. With each question she asks, he can't help but chuckle at how adorable she is. Forgetting this is his first watching the movie, he answers her every time.
"I just don't understand why they all had to make such a big deal about Emma wanting to dance with her girlfriend. Love is love," she states, talking with her free as her other remains around his waist.
"I couldn't agree more," he smiles, kissing the top of her head. "I'm happy they finally got to have their dance in the end," he adds as the credits roll.
"Oh most definitely," she smiles. "They deserved it!"
She pushes herself off his chest to sit next to him and stretch. Barry sits up, pulling the blanket off to stretch himself. He side-eyes his girlfriend as words are caught in his mouth. She looks at him suspiciously then gives him the look knowing something is wrong.
He sighs, shaking his head. "It's getting late. I should be heading out," he points to the door, slowly standing up.
"Barry?" she stresses, arching her eyebrow.
"It's nothing Cait, just a thought came to my mind," he waves off, stuffing his hands in his pockets. The question still stuck in his throat. She continues to give him her typical Dr. Snow look until he finally gives in.
"Barry, what's wrong? I know you have something to ask me, just ask," she pushes.
A heavy sigh leaves his lips and takes a seat next to her, rubbing his neck. "I was just thinking," he swallows some built up saliva, "You know how you said you liked my singing voice?" he chuckles as her cheeks turn a shade pink.
"Yes," she giggles, eyeing him for understanding.
"I guess, after watching the movie, I just thought that if we knew each other in high school how I would ask you to prom," he nervously chuckles.
She gasps, smiling. "Really?" she giggles. "Barry Allen, are you saying you would sing me a proposal?" she smirks.
He laughs, really thinking of his younger self would even have the courage to ask the high school version of Caitlin to the prom let alone sing it for others to hear. "Yeah... now that I think about it..." he chuckles, looking at her with amusement.
She scrunches her nose in delight, then leans forward to peck his lips. "It's an adorable thought. I'm just not sure if I would have said yes - at the time," she answers honestly.
"Why?" his head snaps in confusion.
She shrugs her shoulders, "Big dances weren't really my thing back then. I didn't even go to my prom. Too busy with my nose stuck in a book," she playfully rolls her eyes.
"Really?" his expression shocked but, he knows his girl. That sounds so like Caitlin. He went to his because Iris had asked him - as a friend - while Joe basically pushed him to go to keep an eye on Iris with her date. He shakes these thoughts away and stands quick to his feet.
"Well, Dr. Caitlin Snow," he dramatically says, grabbing her hands and forcing her to stand up. She giggles at his theatrics, playing along. "Will you do me the honors of going to prom with me?"
"Barry Allen," she laughs, lightly swatting his chest.
"Oh wait!" he smiles then flashes out of her apartment. He runs as fast as he can to then be back standing in front of her in a tux with a dozen roses in his hands. "This is better when asking the most beautiful woman in your life to prom, huh?" he cheeky smiles.
Her eyes widen in surprise as her face fills with such wonder and love at the man before her. She smiles, walking up to him, and wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him down into a passionate kiss. Breathlessly, she slowly pulls away, "Yes," she whispers on his lips.
"Yes?" he grins, touching his forehead against hers.
She bites her bottom lip and nods her head. Suddenly her eyes pop wide. "I should change," she mumbles pulling away from their embrace.
"Let me," he shyly smiles, flashing out of the room then back changing her in a blink of an eye. Standing back, his jaw drops. "God, you are beautiful."
She looks down at the long, backless dark red dress with a deep cut on the side to show off her leg. Looking back at him, she arches her eyebrows, "Peeked at my goods, did you?" she teases.
He feels the color drain from his face but at the same time fills with a dark crimson "Wha- What?" he spits, waving his hand. "That wouldn't make me a hero, remember?" he rambles.
She playfully rolls her eyes, "Well, I love the dress," her eyes sparkle, giving him a twirl.
Barry can't help but check her out with the way the dress hugs her body, showing off her curves. The back open, exposing her bareback. Then the deep sidecut, exposing her long left leg. She is a dream. "Dr. Caitlin Snow you will be the death of me," he chuckles.
A deep blush in her cheeks, she tries to cover it with hands. Barry won't allow this and slowly walks over to her, pulling her hands away to intertwine with his. "Can I have this dance?"
"There's no music," she teases.
He smirks, pulling his phone out to tap on a song. "You were saying?" wiggling his eyebrows.
Caitlin giggles, nodding her head. He takes her hand in his and places his other on her waist as she places hers on his shoulder.
They sway to the rhythm, enjoying the moment with each step. Barry smiling down at Caitlin as she smiles back at him. They are in their own world, savoring it. As the song nears the end, Caitlin lays her head on his chest as they continue to sway to the next song.
"Thank you," she breathes with a smile. "This is so sweet of you. Best moment of my life," she says, her voice cracking from the overwhelming feeling of emotions.
He holds her tighter, kissing the top of her head to then lay his head on top of hers. "Anything for you Cait," he breathes. "I love you," he smiles.
She smiles into his chest, "I love you too."
Barry starts to hum a song into her ear as they continue their movements. She giggles, picking up the beat from the movie they just watched and starts to hum along. Hearing her, he softly sings into her ear.
"I just want to dance with you," his voice comforting.
She shuts her eyes, breathing in his scent, and hearing his voice almost lull her to sleep. However, a voice creeps into her mind and she playfully rolls hers.
"Oh, Frost says you owe her a dance now," Caitlin smirks, pulling back to look at him but, still very much in his embrace.
Barry playfully scoffs then nods in agreement. "Fine by me. How does tomorrow sound," he asks with a genuine smile, pulling her back close to him.
"Sounds perfect."
fin.
