His eyes.
It was night, and Sara was walking towards her car. Clasping the key in her hand she looked around –a feeling of being followed settling in the pit of her stomach. "Oh my God!" There he stood, right in front of her –as though he had appeared out of thin air. Placing her hand on her sternum she looked at the ground –adrenaline still flowing through her body.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" the man said.
"It's ok, I'm ok"
Pushing him aside she proceeded to unlock her car, and got in. As she drove off, the guy was still standing there. His black hair and piercing green eyes, combined with his trained body and trustworthy voice made him interesting, but also scary.
After this meeting, a few days had passed before he suddenly stood in front of her again.
Catherine woke up from a nightmare. Green eyes were staring at her, undressing her, hurting her. She crawled out of bed, and strolled to the kitchen. She noticed someone sitting in the dark, did a step back until she saw who it was. "Lindsey? What are you doing here?"
Lindsey pressed her legs together, placing her hands on her lap. She had been crying, and Catherine noticed that her lip had been bleeding.
"What happened to your lip? Did someone hurt you?"
Lindsey didn't say a word, merely closed her eyes.
"Who did this Lindsey? Please, tell me."
Catherine placed herself in front of her daughter, and reached for her cheek, but Lindsey avoided her mother's hand. "Please sweety, tell me what happened."
Lindsey kept her eyes closed, and started to breathe heavily. Her hands clammed into fists, and her breathing still becoming heavier.
"Lindsey, look at me!" Catherine demanded. "Look at me!" She shook her daughter, hoping to get her attention. Suddenly silence filled the room. After seconds had passed, Lindsey opened her eyes. "It was the guy with the green eyes." She cried. Catherine was so shocked by this, she fell backwards. Lindsey's eyes were green, as green as the eyes of her attacker. She noticed Lindsey's nose started to bleed –even her eyes were now shedding blood. Lindsey moved towards Catherine –who tried to get away, but fell, and within seconds HE stood hovering over her.
Catherine bolted up right, breathing heavily. She was still in her bed –her body soaking in sweat. She went to Lindsey's room, and with shaking hands opened the door. Her daughter was sound asleep.
Catherine headed for the kitchen, turned the light on to make sure no one was there. She grabbed her cell from the counter, and dialled a number.
"Hi, Sara. I know it's late, but…" Catherine realized it was only 3 am.
"…I know it's stupid, but…"
Sara wanted to know if something had happened. Catherine shook her head. "Just a bad dream…well actually two." Catherine cleared her throat. "No, there's no need for you to come. I...I just wanted to hear your voice." After a few seconds of silence Catherine wished her goodnight.
Sara was staring at her phone, till Greg shook her out of her thoughts. "Huh?" she replied. "I didn't mean to interrupt, but the crime scene is calling for you." Sara put her cell away, and followed him into the garden. "Recognize this?"
"You think it's him?"
"Yes…the same guy who…raped Catherine."
She was blonde, mid forties, elegant.
