Sachi's P.O.V
" If you want to be considered shinobi then show us what exceptional shinobi you can be. One more thing, if any candidate should get a zero and fail the test, then the entire team fails." Ibiki sensei said and my eyes went wide after hearing what he said.
" The final question won't be given out until 15 minutes before the end of the testing period. You'll have 1 hour total." Ibiki sensei said as I looked around to notice that everyone was nervous with how this test was going to go.
" Begin!" Ibiki yelled as everyone picked up their pencils and began doing the test. I looked down at my paper and realized that there were no real answers to any questions that were on the paper. In combat, most people don't have the time to think or question about what they're going to do in battle when the enemy is attacking them head on.
I already know that not one genin in this room knew what the answers were, well maybe Asura might, then I noticed something from the corner of my eye and someone was writing. Like he knew exactly what he needed to write down. Then I looked at the person in front of me and noticed that they were writing as well. These people either know what they're doing, or they are guessing the answers. If we all want to pass this test before time runs out we need to figure something out. If we were caught cheating then the whole team would fail.
So the best plan in motion right now is to be sneaky….and that is when it hits me. If we want to pass this test, we have to be stealthy like a true Jounin ninja and find a way to cheat without getting caught.
I shut my eye and lowered my head, acting like I couldn't figure it out, ' Sharingan!' I thought to myself as I reopened my eye and I started to copy the way of the person that was in front of me and I followed his movements. Within a few minutes I was done and my eye went back to normal. I looked over to my teammates to see how they were doing and both my brother and Sakura already figured it out how this test worked, but Naruto still hadn't even started and I felt really bad for him and I hope that he figures it out soon.
I looked over at Asura's team and noticed that they figured it out as well and I was happy about that. I looked up at the clock to notice that there was only 17 minutes left on the time, while I was waiting my thoughts went to thinking about Itachi, ' Where are you Itachi? I miss you, I know you did wrong but your brother.' I thought as tears started to form in my eye. I whipped them away and then I felt something was in my eye which irritated me and I started to rub my eye. When I finally got whatever was in my eye out and I looked down to see an eyeball on my desk looking around til it looked towards me. I realized that it was Gaara's eye that was looking at me and I smiled at it and I gave it a little wave to it, and then I looked back up trying to pretend that I didn't see it and I pushed my paper closer to it, so he could see my answers. From the corner of my eye I noticed that the eye widened after what I did and then went back to normal and went to look at my paper.
Gaara's P.O.V
When I appeared in front of Sachi and noticed that she saw me, but all she does was smile and she waved her hand a little to me. I was confused at first, but then what she does next shocks me the most is when Sachi pushes her paper towards me and lets me see her answers. Why? Why is she letting me copy her paper? She's suppose to let someone know that I was cheating, but all she did was smile and shared her answers. There's something about her, something that I'm missing. Sachi's not a regular girl like all the ones from the sand village, that is one thing that I know and she wasn't afraid to talk to something like me. What's on her mind right now? And what was that look on her face that made her upset?
Sachi's P.O.V
" Alright! Listen up, here's the 10th and final question. But before I give you the question, there are some more rules that you need to be aware of." Ibiki sensei said as the door opened and I turned my head to realize that it was Kankuro coming back from the bathroom.
" Ah, made it just in time. I hope you found your trip to the bathroom enlighttening. Now take a seat." Ibiki sensei said to Kankuro as he took a seat as for Ibiki sensei to contiune.
" These rules are unique to question 10, listen carefully. And try not to be frightened. Rule 1: Each of you is free to chose to be given the final question, it's your decision." Ibiki sensei said as he looked at us.
" So what's the catch? What if we decided we don't want to do it, what happens then?" Temari asked.
" If you chose not to take to 10th question regardless of your answers to the other 9, you'll get a zero. In other words you fail, and that means of course both your teammates fail as well." Ibiki sensei said as some people in the room said their staying, as for a few people, it looked like they were uncertain and wanted to leave.
" Not so fast, you didn't let me finish. If you do accept the question but answer it incorrectly, you will not only fail, you will be barred from taking the Chunin Exam ever again!" Ibiki sensei yelled as everyone went into shock.
" Hey! That's bull man! That's ridiculous! What kind of bogus rules is that?! There's lots of people here who've taken the test before!" Kiba yelled as I looked at him.
" I guess you're just...unlucky. I wasn't making the rules before, but I am now. Of course if you don't want to take it, you don't have to. If you're not feeling confident then by all means skip it. You can come back and try again next year. Now then, if you're ready for the 10th and final question. Those who don't want to take it raise your hand, your number will be recorded and you're free to go." Ibiki said and for a second it looks like no one wants to leave but some do stand up shaking as they said that they couldn't do it and they leave with their squad. I know he's trying to scare us himself, he's head of the interrogation and torture squad pf Konoha. He does his job well, he may not torture us physically but he's toying with us mentally.
I looked over at Naruto to notice that he was shaking even more before the test started and it was most likely because he was worried about letting us down and failing the test, but Ibiki sensei made him even more scared then before and there's no doubt he's contemplating his decision. We could always try again next year, but knowing Naruto he's going to feel bad about letting his team down and also Naruto's going to bring himself down even more if he was thinking about how he wanted to be Hokage. That's his dream, but if you're that scared that you can't stay or it makes you leave? I noticed that Sakura was starting to raise her hand til Naruto beat her at it. His hand was raised and he was still shaking. But what he does next puts a smile on my face. He slams his hand on his desk and looks at Ibiki sensei.
" Don't underestimate me! I don't quit and I don't run! You can act tough all you want, you guys aren't going to scare me off! No way! I don't care if I get stuck as a genin for the rest of my life. I'll still be Hokage someday!" Naruto said as everyone stared at him. I smiled at him warmly in his direction as he crossed his arms with a big smile on his face.
' You never let go of that dream, Naruto. 'Cause it makes you who you are.' I thought as I looked back foward towards Ibiki sensei.
" This decision is one that can change your life, if you any reason you would rather quit now's your last chance." Ibiki sensei said as he glared at Naruto.
" No way, I never go back on my word, that's the way of the ninja." Naruto said as I looked at all the other people and noticed that they smiling at him or agreeing with him.
" Well then, I admire your determination, nothing else. For those of you who are remaining, there's only one thing left to do. And that's for me to tell you that you've all passed the first exam!" Ibiki sensei as I widened my eyes to realize what he was going to say.
" Hold on, what just happened? What do you mean we passed? Where's the 10th question?" Sakura asked as she stood up and looked towards Ibiki sensei.
" There was never one. Not a written one at least. Actually your decision to stay was the answer to the 10th question." Temari said.
" Wait a second! So the other 9 questions you gave us were just a waste of time. Is that what you're saying?" Sakura asked as she heard that and all I did was shake my head to her.
" No, no, Not at all. Quite the opposite, the first 9 questions had an important over writing purpose. To test your ability to gather information under difficult circumstances." Ibiki said as he looked at her.
" Oh, well that clears up everything." Sakura said sarcastically.
" Let me explain, you see, my objective was to test you not only as individuals, but as a team. To see how well you function as a part of that team basis. So you'd know that everything that you did or failed to do was going to affect your teammates, I wanted to see how you would handle under pressure. Those who would put their comrades lives in jeopardy, worrying about their own. Those who would save their own necks at the price of sacred honor will never be able to call themselves Chuunin, at least as long as I'm here." Ibiki says and I softly smile at this.
If I were to ever let Sakura, Sasuke or Naruto die right in front of me I could never forgive myself for what I didn't do, when you could save them, when you value your life more than your own you aren't considered a human being.
" As for the rest of you, you have successfully answered all 10 questions I gave to you. You have earned the right to continue on to the next step. You have passed through the first gate, I hereby declare this part of the Chunin selection exam completed. There's nothing left, but to wish you all good luck." Ibiki sensei said to everyone as we all got up from the desks.
" Alright, we did it. That's one down!" Naruto yelled with his fist in the air. I shook my head till something came crashing through the window and it was a woman with purple hair put up in a ponytail and she had a long brown jacket. Her name was Anko from what I heard from Kakashi Sensei.
" Heads up boys and girls. This is no time to be celebrating, I'll be your next proctor, Anko Midarashi, you ready for the second test? Good! Let's go, follow me!" Anko yelled as she raised her fist in the air.
" You're early, again." Ibiki said from behind Anko as she deadpans looking embarrassed.
" How many are there? Ibiki? You let all these guys pass? Your test was too easy, you must be getting soft." Anko said as she turned her head to look at him.
" Or it could be a stronger crowd of candidates this year." Ibiki said with a straight face.
" Hm, they sure don't look it. Trust me, before I'm done with them more than half will be eliminated. This is gonna be fun, alright you maggots have had it easy so far, but things are gonna be different starting first thing in the morning. I'll let your squad leaders know where they can meet me, dismissed." Anko said smugly as we all left the room.
" You wanna know something funny?" Naruto asked as we were heading home and the sun was setting behind us.
" What is it Naruto?" Sakura asked as she turned her head to look at him.
" I actually didn't even fill out one question, I just left it blank." Naruto said with a big smile on his face.
" Really?" Sakura asked, looking at him with a shocked look on her face.
" Yep, now all we gotta do is get through phase 2 and we'll be one step closer to becoming Chunin." Naruto said.
" But then the phase after that is going to be harder." I said as I looked at him and he turned his head to me and gave me a thumbs up.
" And we're gonna pass that one too! We aren't going to give up! I'm not gonna give up, and I really hope you guys won't either." Naruto said and I gave him a smile back at him.
' I really hope so, Naruto. But for some reason I have a bad feeling in the bottom of my chest. I hope I'm wrong and I hope I'm able to protect my team and get passed this test. ' I thought as I followed the others as we were heading home.
