Sora and Moon Shadow hid behind some debris as they looked at the scene before them. The mind-addled Sector Securities were too busy dealing with the Duel Academy soldiers and Commons to notice them.
"We made it. Security Headquarters." "Zuzu's in there with Celina." Sora said to Moon Shadow. "There are too many of them. Let us find a side entrance." Nodding to each other, they took Moon Shadow's suggestion and ran to the side.
Sensing a hostile presence throwing a projectile at them, Moon Shadow swiftly deployed his katana and slashed a sharp rock that was thrown at them. Sora was taken back by the action and was surprised. "I knew you wouldn't be hit by a simple rock." They both looked up at the voice who spoke and saw who threw the rock at them.
"Captain Barrett..." Sora uneasily uttered his name, especially when the captain gave him a disappointed look.
"I never thought you would betray us like this... Sora Perse." "It can't be helped, I can't agree with the Professor anymore." "Can't agree? You're one of the best of Duel Academy. Top of your elite class and even given a special mission in Standard. So why betray us?"
Sora looked down; eyes overshadowed. "Because..." Looking up with eyes filled with resolution, he announced his reason. "I have friends that are more important to me than Duel Academy's goal!"
Barrett narrowed his eyes at Sora's unflinching form and leapt down from the building he was standing on as he activated his Duel Disk. "I commend you for your determination to protect those dear to you. You have my respect for that. It is regrettable we have to be enemies now." "Same goes to you, Captain. Let's do this." Sora activated his Duel Disk as well.
"Moon Shadow, you go on ahead. I'll catch up."
"... Understood. Be safe." Moon Shadow then left.
[Let's duel!]
"I'll take the first turn. And I activate Beastborg Fusioner to summon a Beastborg monster! I fuse Panther Warrior(ATK: 2000/DEF: 1600/LV: 3) and Black Sentinel(ATK: 1500/DEF: 1800/LV: 4) to mix the savagery of a jungle hunter with the attack strength of a high-tech combat machine! I Fusion Summon! The most dangerous mercenary you've ever faced! Beastborg Panther Predator(ATK: 1600/DEF: 2000/LV: 6)!
Now you'll feel the pain! As it uses its Quasar Beam to deal you damage equal to half its attack points!" Panther Predator shot a red beam from its left chest's orb as it roared, causing Sora to wince as the beam hit him.

"You're up, Sora." Barrett told the boy as he set three cards facedown.
"Thanks." Sora said as he drew a card. "I activate the spell Toy Vendor!" The giant toy dispenser appeared behind Sora. "This allows me to draw a new card from my deck by discarding one, and if it's a monster level 4 or below I get to summon it! But it gets to go the the graveyard if it's not." Sora discarded a Fluffal Wings(ATK: 100/DEF: 100/LV: 1) and drew a card. As he did so, a happy face coin went into the slot of the machine and the crank pulled down. The card he drew was Fluffal Bear(ATK: 1200/DEF: 800/LV: 3). "Alright! It's Fluffal Bear!" Fluffal Bear was summoned as it came out from a ball that the machine dispensed.
"With the power of Polymerization, I'll fuse my Fluffal Bear with the Edge Imp Sabres(ATK: 1200/DEF: 800/LV: 3) in my hand. Edge of sharpness and fury of bear! When the two come together, you had better beware! I Fusion Summon! Welcome to the party, Frightfur Bear(ATK: 2200/DEF: 1800/LV: 6)!
Frightfur Bear, let's socket to 'em with Pummeling Paw!" Frightfur Bear slammed its fist hard into Panther Predator.
BARRETT LP: 4000 = 3400
"When my Panther Predator is destroyed, it can bring Panther Warrior and Dark Sentinel back from the graveyard!" The two monsters used to summon the fusion monster returned to the field from the Graveyard Portal.
"And because I took damage, I can activate Beastborg Medal of the Shield!" An iron shield with a lion head on top appeared on the field. "For every 100 points of damage I took, I gain a medal counter." Six medals appeared on the shield.
"When my Frightfur destroyed your monster, it can devour it to gain its attack points!" Frightfur Bear brought Panther Predator back from the graveyard only to devour it as its attack points rose.
Frightfur Bear(ATK: 2200 = 3800/DEF: 1800/LV: 6)
"It's my turn now! And I activate Beastborg Fusioner to resummon my Panther Predator!" Panther Predator came back as the two monsters used to summon it entered the Fusion Vortex.
"Now I activate my shield's effect! By sending Beastborg Medal of the Shield to the graveyard, my Panther Warrior will gain 100 attack points for each medal counter!"
Beastborg Panther Predator(ATK: 1600 = 2200/DEF: 2000/LV: 6)
"Why did Barrett use his trap's effect on Panther Predator? It's still not enough to take down Frightfur Bear." Sora wondered, then his eyes grew wide in realization. "Unless,..."
"I now activate the trap known as, Beastborg Medal of the Blade! When I deal you damage, a medal counter will adorn this shield for every 100 points of damage! Now Panther Predator! Quasar Beam!"
SORA LP: 3200 = 2100
A total of eleven medals appeared on the shield with crossed swords as the special ability finished. "Well done soldier, but now I think you need a little more firepower. So by sending Beastborg Medal of the Blade to the graveyard, you'll gain 1100 additional attack points!"
Beastborg Panther Predator(ATK: 2200 = 3300/DEF: 2000/LV: 6)
"Panther, engage the traitor! Cyber Panther Slash!" "You're attacking when it still has fewer attack points than Frightfur Bear?!" Sora was shocked by Barrett's actions.
"It's of no concern, because I activate Beastborg Predation Blade! For every medal that my Beastborg Medal of the Blade had, your toy loses 100 attack points!" Beastborg Panther Predator sliced Sora's Frightfur in half with a strike from its blade.
Frightfur Bear(ATK: 3800 = 2700/DEF: 1800/LV: 6)

"Make your move, soldier." Barrett told Sora as he set two facedowns.
Before he started his turn, Sora asked Barret, "Why do you side with Duel Academy, Barrett?" "You know that as well as I do. I believe in Duel Academy's great goal to create an ultimate world of harmony by fusing the four dimensions into a perfect world." Barrett answered without hesitation, a voice smooth without a hitch.
"Harmony..." Sora then flashed back to what Yuri had said on the rooftop. "Can we truly achieve peace... With guys like Yuri...?"
Barrett widened his eye a bit at the inquiry. But regardlessly said, "Our common goal outweighs our worries. And despite the questionable behavior, Yuri is one of the most loyal to the Professor in all of Duel Academy."
Sora's expression was one of utter disbelief. He just couldn't imagine it. "The guy who would destroy those who stepped out of line, the guy who has a cold-blooded look in his eyes is the most loyal to the Professor?!"
"I return the question to you, Sora. What is Duel Academy to you? Why betray it for something like friendship?"
"If you're talking about it as a place, no, I don't have any connections." Sora said. "I finally have my first real friends and I'm not gonna give that up! Plus, with guys like Yuri around, I can't believe in Duel Academy anymore!"
Sora drew a card and started his turn. "I discard another Fluffal Wings to insert another coin into Toy Vendor to draw a new card from my deck! I wonder what goodie it will be?" The card he drew was Fluffal Owl(ATK: 1100/DEF: 1000/LV: 2).
"Now I can summon level 2 Fluffal Owl, and I can snag a Polymerization from my deck thanks to it! And with Fluffal Wings, I can draw two more times by banishing two of them from the graveyard!
And now to cause some terror with my spell Edge Nightmare! It lets me get Edge Imp Sabres back from the graveyard!" Edge Imp Sabres returned to Sora's side.
"I activate Polymerization to fuse Edge Imp Sabres, Fluffal Owl, and Fluffal Mouse! Edge of sharpness, bird of prey, mayhem of mice, when the three come together you will pay the price! I Fusion Summon! Frightfur Tiger(ATK: 1900/DEF: 1200/LV: 6)!"
"I am afraid it's going out of commission! My trap Beastborg Medal of the Crimson Chain activates when you summon from your Extra Deck! So long as I have a Beastborg monster on my field, your freaky animal toy can't go on the attack!"
"Say what?!" A scarlet chain wrapped around Frightfur Tiger, causing it to roar in pain as it tightened the more it tried to break free. The same chain appeared around Sora and bound him as well.
"Ugh! B-but I still have Frightfur Tiger's special ability to destroy all your cards!" Frightfur Tiger's belly scissors stretched out in a glow to cut Barrett's cards in half.
"But that won't happen, because I activate Beastborg Warrior Cage! By banishing Panther Warrior from my graveyard, I can negate a monster's special ability. Your tiger is as harmless as a kitten!"
"This was to be expected from Barrett!" Sora commented in his mind. "He's not a veteran captain for nothing!"
"Sorry Sora, but this is the end of the line. End your turn and I will give you a merciful, swift finish." Barret told Sora, who hated to admit it, but had no other moves left to play. "I... I end my turn."
"In the end, you betrayed Duel Academy for a pointless friendship."
Sora firmly retorted. "It isn't pointless! Yuya and Zuzu care about me too and I wouldn't trade it for anything else!"
"Then you leave me with no choice." Barrett motioned his hand for Panther Predator to attack.
"Yuya... Zuzu... I'm sorry..." Sora apologized in his mind as he closed his eyes, bracing for impact.
GENERATING ACTION FIELD: CROSSOVER
Sora and Barrett were surprised when an Action Field was deployed. Sora was more surprised at the person who activated it.
"Shay?! What are you doing here?!"
"Shay? Oh, I see. You're that Xyzian me and Celina were looking for in the Standard Dimension that beat Dennis." Barrett recognized Shay from the report Dennis gave them.
"It doesn't matter." Shay said as he drew a card, electricity shocking his body. But he had no problem enduring.

"I summon Raidraptor - Advance Buzzard(ATK: 900/DEF: 1500/LV: 3)!" An indigo augur buzzard-like Raidraptor appeared on the scene. "And thanks to its special ability, it counts as two monsters when I use it to Xyz Summon. I overlay Advance Buzzard to build the Overlay Network! I Xyz Summon! Arise! Raidraptor - Gloria Hawk(ATK: 600/DEF: 1000/RK: 3/OU: 1)!" A Raidraptor that resembled a brown red-tailed hawk appeared with one purple overlay unit on Shay's field.
"That bird is getting grounded, since I play another Beastborg Medal of the Crimson Chain!" Red chains appeared around Gloria Hawk as Barrett declared as he activated the trap.
"Don't think so! By using one overlay unit, Gloria Hawk can destroy those chains!" Gloria Hawk swung its wings, creating gusts of wind that destroyed the chains and the trap that tried to bind it.
Raidraptor - Gloria Hawk(ATK: 600/DEF: 1000/RK: 3/OU: 1 = 0)
"Gloria Hawk! Swoop in and attack Panther Predator!" "What?! But you're the only one that will get hurt!" Barrett was perplexed by Shay's move.
"That's not happening! Go, Raidraptor - Speed Xyz! It lets me Xyz Summon a Raidraptor that's one rank higher during battle!" Following the Quick-Play Spell's activation, Gloria Hawk turned into purple energies and entered the Overlay Network.
"From the shadows, the falcon soars on wings of courage, talons ready for the rebellion! I Xyz Summon! Arise! Raidraptor - Rise Falcon(ATK: 100/DEF: 2000/RK: 4/OU: 1)!
By using one overlay unit, Rise Falcon gains the attack points of your Beastborg Panther Predator!" Rise Falcon was engulfed in flames as it gained attack points.
Raidraptor - Rise Falcon(ATK: 100 = 1700/DEF: 2000/RK: 4/OU: 1)
"Attack! Raidraptor - Rise Falcon, Ravaging Rebellion!" Rise Falcon flew up high and towards Panther Predator, who tried to protect itself with its blade, which was crushed to pieces as well as its body.

"That's a double casualty! Since I no longer have any Beastborgs standing on my frontlines, my first Crimson Chain is destroyed, releasing Sora and his monster from lockdown."
The chain that bound Sora fell apart, freeing him from captivity. The same happened to the chain that bound Frightfur Tiger.
"I'll end my turn with two facedowns."
Raidraptor - Rise Falcon(ATK: 1700 = 100/DEF: 2000/RK: 4/OU: 0)
"Why is Shay here? And to help me? I know we don't have the best history together, but why?"
"Don't get the wrong idea. I don't have any intention to trust you or forgive you. I just want to defeat the one in charge of this invasion."
"Shay... I..."
"Try and pull something and I'll end you. Got it?!" Shay affirmed his tone.
"Y-yeah..."
Cell - Sector Security Headquarters - New Domino City - Synchro Dimension
Celina slammed her body into the door again. "Dang it! It's not budging!" She huffed as she breathed heavily after her failed attempts to open the door.
"Of course not! It's gonna take more than that to get us out of here! Now quit it, Celina! You're just hurting yourself!" Zuzu voiced her concerns to the tomboy.
Celina pouted as she sat beside Zuzu, arms crossed, "Yeah? Well, I am not going to play the role of the damsel in distress! We need to think of a way out."
"I sure hope Yuya and the others are okay..." Zuzu teared up on the memory of Tarren being sealed into a card and clenched her eyes shut.
"Don't worry. They can take care of themselves. They won't fall so easily." Celina assured with 100% certainty.
"What does Roget want with us? Why has he been after us all this time?" Zuzu asked Celina as she looked up at the ceiling.
Celina looked at her legs and said, "The fact that he wants to take over New Domino, means he probably wants to use us as some sort of bargaining chips. At the very least, he won't try to risk us... getting... hurt..." A thought popped in as a fact of their predicament sunk in.
"Celina?" Zuzu called out in confusion.
Abruptly turning towards Zuzu, Celina looked at her with wide eyes, startling the girl. "That's it! That's how we can get out of here!"
Outside - Sector Security Headquarters - New Domino City - Synchro Dimension
"From how you talk and duel, I take it you were part of Duel Academy's invasion of my dimension. For all my friends you hunted down, I will avenge them!"
Barrett answered Shay's declaration by saying, "The same goes for me. I have lost many good soldiers to the Resistance. As well as gained these scars." Barrett held his right hand to his scarred face. "For the Professor and those that have fallen, you will be destroyed!"
Barrett drew a card as he finished talking. "You may have destroyed Panther Predator, but it can still provide aid! It summons the monsters I used to summon it back from the graveyard." Panther Warrior and Dark Sentinel returned to the field in Defense Mode.
"It's time to bring the heavy artillery! Roll in, Carrier Sentinel(ATK: 1000/DEF: 1600/LV: 4)! Carrier Sentinel also allows me to bring additional backup by letting me draw a monster from my deck for support." Barrett added a monster from his deck to his hand.
"This Pitch-Black Warwolf(ATK: 1600/DEF: 600/LV: 4) will prove essential in executing my battle plans when I activate Beastborg Fusioner! This will allow me to call forth a new Beastborg by fusing Pitch-Black Warwolf with Carrier Sentinel! A Beastborg that rules the battlefield with shock and awe! I Fusion Summon! Advance to the frontlines, Beastborg Wolf Kampfer(ATK: 2200/DEF: 1500/LV: 6)!
Wolf Kampfer! Tear into Rise Falcon!" Following the order, Wolf Kampfer charged at Rise Falcon with readied claws to rip into the bird.
"I activate a little something called Rank-Up-Magic Devotion Force! It ranks up Rise Falcon into a Raidraptor that's one rank higher!" Shay activated his Rank-Up Magic card and Rise Falcon turned into purple energy.
"Terror of the sky, predator of blazing force, with wings that slash and talons that tear! Go! Rank-Up Xyz Evolution! Rise up, Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon(ATK: 1000/DEF: 2000/RK: 5/OU: 1)!" Blaze Falcon appeared on Shay's field with a purple overlay unit rotating around it.
"That falcon only has 1000 attack points! It's still not a match for my Beastborg!" Barrett reprimanded Shay about the difference in attack points.
Shay scoffed, "That's hardly a concern since I activate the trap Adversity! Now, not only does Blaze Falcon survive this battle and I take no damage, but it also gains 1000 attack points!" Kampfer's claw was ineffective against Blaze Falcon, as its swipe just knocked the falcon back.
Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon(ATK: 1000 = 2000/DEF: 2000/RK: 5/OU: 1)
"Then I end my turn." Barrett smiled at Shay. "Your ability to persevere on the battlefield is admirable. It makes you worthy of a medal."
"Don't start praising your opponent just yet, Barrett!" Sora objected as he drew a card. "Because now I aim to cut down the competition with Edge Imp Saw(ATK: 500/DEF: 1000/LV: 3). And because I summoned it, I can send Fluffal Leo(ATK: 1600/DEF: 1200/LV: 4) to the graveyard to draw two cards from my deck!"
Glancing at the cards he drew, Sora grinned at one of them. "I activate the sweet spell card, Frightfur Fusion! By banishing the Fluffal Leo in my graveyard and the Edge Imp Saw on my field, I'm allowed to Fusion Summon a new Frightfur monster! Sharpened steel and ruler of the jungle. When the two come together, prepare to rumble! I Fusion Summon! Frightfur Leo(ATK: 2400/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)!
I activate its ability! It cuts your life points down by destroying your Wolf Kampfer and dealing you damage equal to its attack points!" Frightfur Leo shot several yellow wheel saw-shaped energies at Kampfer.
"I'll evade that maneuver by activating Beastborg Warrior Cage from the graveyard! Now, by banishing two Beastborg traps in the graveyard, I can make my Wolf Kampfer immune to your Leo's ability, and as a bonus, you're not allowed to attack my Beastborg this turn!" Beastborg Wolf Kampfer simply dodged the razor-sharp energies to prevent them from hitting it.
"Well, so much for that plan. I'll just slice and dice your Dark Sentinel then!" Frightfur Leo's blades that were launched at Wolf Kampfer then circled back and destroyed Barrett's Machine-Type monster.
"That's all I can do for now. Sorry, I couldn't get rid of that Beastborg." Sora apologized to Shay.
Shay smirked with a smile. "Don't worry, Blaze Falcon will finish it." He then drew a card.
"By using one overlay unit, Blaze Falcon destroys your Beastborg wolf, and deals you 500 points of damage!" Multiple feather-like laser guns were deployed by Blaze Falcon, firing a barrage of lasers at Wolf Kampfer.
Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon(ATK: 2000/DEF: 2000/RK: 5/OU: 1 = 0)
"I once again activate Beastborg Warrior Cage to protect Kampfer!" This time, a barrier blocked the lasers as the effect occurred again. "Nice try."
"Persistent aren't you. In that case, Blaze Falcon, attack Barrett directly now!" The falcon launched its lasers again and fired them at the captain. Barrett crossed his arms defensively as the blasts hit him.
BARRETT LP: 3400 = 1400
"Since Blaze Falcon deals you damage, your Kampfer is history because it gets to destroy it!" Blaze Falcon launched many missiles that destroyed Beastborg Wolf Kampfer.
Barrett growled in annoyance, "You may have destroyed Kampfer, but it isn't through yet! I can resummon Pitch-Black Warwolf and Carrier Sentinel from my graveyard."
"Then I'll end my turn." Shay growled in frustration. Barrett complemented, "I could feel all your will's strength in that attack, I will enjoy defeating that kind of honorable spirit!
It's my move!" Barrett declared as he drew a card. Seeing the card, his eye widened with glee. "I'll use Beastborg Fusioner to summon another Beastborg Wolf Kampfer to the field." Another copy of the mechanized humanoid wolf with a missile launcher on its left shoulder emerged.
"Now that my life points are below 2000, I can activate Beastborg Chaos Fusion! By releasing all of my Beastborgs, I can summon their commander! A Beastborg that has no equal on the battlefield! Report for duty, Beastborg Jaguar Kaiser(ATK: 2800/DEF: 2200/LV: 8)!" A humanoid jaguar clad in black cybernetic armor, wearing a red cape, and wielding dual blades descended on the field.
"This is my most dangerous Beastborg yet! My Jaguar Kaiser gains 200 attack points for every Beastborg in my graveyard!" With a mighty roar, Jaguar Kaiser raised its dual blades to the sky as its attack points increased.
Beastborg Jaguar Kaiser(ATK: 2800 = 3600/DEF: 2200/LV: 8)
"It's got 3600 attack points?!" Sora panicked, after all if it attacked him...
"Jaguar Kaiser! Annihilate everything in your path! And that's not good for you, because Jaguar Kaiser can wage an assault on all your monsters!" Brandishing its blades, Jaguar Kaiser charged at Frightfur Leo and Raidraptor - Rise Falcon.
Sora saw that no cards in his hand could help him out of this situation. So, he jumped for an Action Card on a nearby platform board. "I activate the Action Spell, Damage Banish! I don't take any damage from your attack!" Sora had reached that Action Card just in time, as Jaguar Kaiser cross slashed Frightfur Leo.
As it approached Blaze Falcon, Shay's quick thinking kicked in as he activated a spell. "I activate a little something called Rank-Up-Magic Escape Double Force! It stops the attack and I get to summon a Raidraptor that's twice the rank as Blaze Falcon!" Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon turned into purple energy as it re-entered the overlay network. "I call upon my most brazen bird of prey, with its alloy wings that can swoop down and wipe away any target. Go! Rank-Up Xyz Evolution! Soar forth, Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon(ATK: 3500/DEF: 2000/RK: 10/OU: 1)!"
"You call me persistent, now I return the complement. You're up."
"Then it's my draw!" Sora said as he drew a card. "I can summon a new Frightfur for us, but it won't be enough to take out Barrett's cyborg." Sora's thoughts were halted as he looked at the unfamiliar Ultimate Falcon. "Unless..."
"I activate the spell card, Frightfur Factory! I banish Polymerization to fuse Fluffal Sheep(ATK: 400/DEF: 800/LV: 2) and Edge Imp Chain(ATK: 1200/DEF: 1800/LV: 4) in my hand! Chain of destruction, wool of warrior, when the two come together, none are superior! I Fusion Summon! Frightfur Sheep(ATK: 2000/DEF: 2000/LV: 5)!
With that, I end my turn." Sora then turned to Shay and confidently told him, "I'm betting on you Xyzian, don't disappoint me."
Narrowing his eyes on Sora's facedown, Shay seemed to get the message. "Hmph. You don't have to tell me that. I'll end it all now."
"And how are you going to do that? My monster is more powerful than yours. How is it you're going to end it?" Barrett skeptically asked Shay.
Merely smiling, Shay began his turn. "You'll find out now! I activate Ultimate Falcon's special ability! By using one overlay unit, it negates the effects of all cards and lowers their attack points by 1000!" Ultimate Falcon used its purple overlay unit to weaken Barrett's monster.
Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon(ATK: 3500/DEF: 2000/RK: 10/OU: 1 = 0)
"WHAT?!" Barrett could only look as Jaguar Kaiser's attack points dropped to 1000 points below its original attack.
Beastborg Jaguar Kaiser(ATK: 3600 = 1800/DEF: 2200/LV: 8)
"Ultimate Falcon, take to the sky and take out Jaguar Kaiser! Broadside Barrage!" Ultimate Falcon soared high in the sky and generated a deep blueish-blackish energy ball from its chest's orb that grew bigger every passing second. It was so big that it caught the attention of everyone in the area.
"Not a chance! I will survive by activating Beastborg Warrior Cage's final effect! By banishing it from the graveyard, I don't take any damage!" A barrier surround Barrett as he banished Beastborg Warrior Cage.
"Sorry, Barrett. I expected that, so I activate Frightfur Pit Trap! Not only is your trap negated, but you're also dealt 400 points of damage!" Sora revealed his last facedown to prevent Barrett from negating the damage from Ultimate Falcon.
BARRETT LP: 1400 = 1000
"WHAT?!"
Barrett could only stand in shock as the blast from Ultimate Falcon charged up as his barrier shattered, leaving him at its mercy.
"Go, Ultimate Falcon! Avenge those that have fallen and destroy the enemy!" Shay ordered his Raidraptor as it unleashed its blast upon Jaguar Kaiser.
Jaguar Kaiser tried to block it with its dual blades, but they were shattered by the sphere and the Beastborg was vaporized. Barrett could only look wide-eyed in shock as time seemed to slow down and the sphere enveloped him.
