The impact of Shay's Ultimate Falcon's energy sphere created an explosion that generated bursts of strong winds that nearly blew everyone in the area away. When the smoke cleared, Barrett was on the ground groaning. Everyone, especially the Duel Academy duelists, were in silent disbelief. Barrett's Duel Disk activated its Interdimensional Travel program to forcibly return him to the Fusion Dimension, much to the Fusion Warriors' astonishment.
"C-Captain Barrett... he has... been defeated!" An Obelisk Force fearfully said.
"No way! Our captain was beaten by the Lancers?!" "What do we do now?!" These questions arose from the fusion duelists as unrest quickly started to spread.
A Buster Brigadier attempted to manage the situation. "Don't worry! We still have Madame Chaos and the other commanders! We can still pull it off!" A Duel Academy solider realized that fact. "Yeah! Alert the Court of Aces!"
New Domino City - Synchro Dimension
"So let me get this straight, the Xyzian Shay Obsidian and the traitor Sora Perse KO'ed the captain?" Madame Chaos inquired the Fusion Warriors that were reporting in. She was standing on a rooftop of a broken building.
{{Y-yes ma'am. What do we do?}}
Madame Chaos closed her folding fan in her right hand and sighed. "Have our forces move into defensive positions and retreat to The Facility. Hopefully we can get them to calm down enough to get them back into play soon."
{{U-understood ma'am. As you order.}}
As the hologram screen transmission ended, Madame Chaos then talked to Lady Minerva and Yuri behind her as she faced away from them. "It seems we have underestimated these Lancers."
"It would appear that way." Lady Minerva sighed as she closed her eyes. "Shall I now activate the Securities to cover our forces?" "Yes."
"Well, what does it matter?" Yuri interjected as he smiled mischievously. "It only means it gets more interesting for us." Madame Chaos turned to face him as her hair blew to her right side in the wind and ominously replied, "I know, and I am looking forward to dueling them myself. After all, it's been a long time since we've had a real challenge, other than between us."
Common Area - New Domino City - Synchro Dimension
"The captain's gone!?" An Obelisk Force Yellow shouted as he received the news, alerting everyone around him.
{{Yes. And Madame Chaos has ordered all available troops to fall back to the new command post, The Facility.}}
"Understood!" Obelisk Yellow confirmed. "You heard the order! Let's beat it!" With that, the Duel Academy forces ran away toward The Facility.
"You're not getting away!" Shinji told the fleeing Fusion Warriors. "After them!" The Commons with him cheered as they ran after the invaders. But...
"Duel Academy must be protected... Duel Academy must be protected..." The Sector Securities emotionlessly droned as they approached the Commons in a zombie-like manner. And as the two sides clashed, sounds of battle once again filled the air of New Domino.
Duel Palace - New Domino City - Synchro Dimension
Yuya and the others arrived at the Duel Palace, after beating all the enemies that stood in their way.
Suddenly, Yuya received a call from Shinji. "Shinji, what's wrong?" "The Securities are now protecting the Duel Academy forces! They've somehow taken control of the mind-control system!" Shinji reported. "What?! But that means that Moon Shadow, Shay, and Sora..."
"It's quite alright, we can leave it to them." The group turned to see Declan calmly walking toward them.
"Declan!" Yelled Riley as he happily ran over to his big brother. "Look you guys, he's okay!" Riley hugged Declan, which surprised him. "Declan!" Declan's surprise quickly disappeared as a soft smile appeared on his face.
Facing to the Lancers and their allies, Declan calmly said, "For now, we need to focus on helping the citizens of New Domino truly unite if we have any hope of driving Duel Academy away from this dimension." Motioning his eyes to the doubting Topsiders, Declan continued, "Even with Jack's help, they're still unwilling to work together."
"Yeah, but why did you have to show the footage of Duel Academy's invasion?" Yuya inquired. "I mean, we could've convinced them just by showing Roget's confession."
Declan smoothly answered without hesitation, "Things are not so simple. The rift between Commons and Topsiders is deep. There was no other way but to show them the horrors that they're facing."
"Still, it wasn't right! Why does every decision you make seem to lead to something horrible?! It's like you don't care about us!"
Yuya's words made Declan freeze in his tracks. He locked his jaw and clenched his hands into fists, which was only noticed by Riley, who was right beside him.
Memories of his father being obsessed with research and ignoring him and his mother becoming the woman she was today after his father left flooded his mind.
"...Sometimes..., you have to be heartless to do what is right." Declan firmly answered and walked away to continue the plan.
"Declan!" Yuya yelled after him. "Yuya, please don't be mad at him." Riley held Yuya's right hand to prevent him from running after Declan. "Riley?"
"It's not easy for him either. But as a leader, Declan has to lock up his own feelings about what he does." Riley told Yuya as he sadly watched his brother walk away.
"Huh?"
Yuya's questioning look was interrupted by an explosion that came from the main entrance. There, arriving in the stadium was someone Yuya and the others knew too well. After all, he had seriously hurt his friends, threw Zuzu into an explosion in a building, and just kidnapped her and Celina not too long ago. And now he was in front of them on his Runner, causing Riley to cling fearfully to Yuya.
"SERGEY!"
With Duel Academy on the run and Jack's announcement to Yuya, Melissa Trails was certain with the finalists here on what she was thinking.
"My goodness! Sergey Volkov has just entered the stadium! Does this mean that they're going to continue the Friendship Cup?" Melissa said in a cheerful way but was uneasy about this in her mind. "Who in tarnation continues a tournament when the whole city's falling apart? That's hogwash!"
While the citizens were unaware that Sergey was another one of Roget's pawns, the Lancers and their allies all tensed up at the Dueling Destroyer. Especially since he had already activated his Duel Runner's Duel Disk.

In his office, Roget moved a black chess piece as he smirked, "Sergey will be enough to wipe out those Lancers and Jack Atlas. And once the hope of the city is gone, they will have no choice but to rely on me. That's checkmate, and I will be the king of this dimension."
{{Celina! Celina are you okay?!}}
Zuzu's voice distracted Roget from the events going on at the Duel Palace. Upon looking at the screen that was linked to the camera in Zuzu and Celina's cell, he saw Celina curled up holding her side, while Zuzu gently moved her body.
{{Celina, why did you have to keep doing that?! I told you we should've waited for the others to save us!}} Zuzu reprimanded, with panic in her voice. {{Someone, please help! Celina is injured! Anyone there?!}}
Roget twitched his eyes when hearing the girl's plea for aid. "Celina must've hurt herself as a result of trying to escape. I can't lose any of those two!"
"Foolish brat!" Roget furiously muttered. Connecting a call to a guard, Roget ordered, "Send someone quickly to Zuzu and Celina's cell and bring Celina to the infirmary!"
Duel Palace - New Domino City - Synchro Dimension
"It looks like we really are going to get this semi-final rodeo started!" Melissa Trails said with enthusiasm. "But where in the hay is Yugo? Is he forfeiting, or perhaps he was turned into a card by those Duel Academy varmints?"
"DON'T BET ON IT!"
Yugo arrived in high-speed jump with his Duel Runner, landing near Sergey and Yuya. His Duel Runner stopping in a drift, facing them.
Yuya laughed happily. "Yugo! You're okay!" "Of course I am! It'll take more than a few Duel Academy freaks to take me down!" Yugo pointed proudly to himself with his right thumb. "If we're doing the semi-finals now, then count me in!"
Yuya looked at Jack's throne, "I have to show the people of New Domino City that dueling is to bring smiles, not to bring harm to others. And that means I have to win against Jack with my true dueltaining, and that means I need to win the Friendship Cup. So I need to believe in Sora, Shay, and Moon Shadow that they will save Celina and Zuzu." Yuya turned and nodded to Yugo.
"How about we do a Battle Royal then to speed things up?"
"Wowsa! Folks, this is something that has never happened before! For the first time, we're going to have a Battle Royal Turbo Duel in the Friendship Cup!" Melissa joyfully commented on Yugo's decision.
Yuya put on his helmet and got on his Runner. Sergey just went to the starting line without a word, meaning Roget approved the idea. Yuya silently thought, "If this guy's under Roget's control as well, then that means Roget wants to prove his power and rule over New Domino by crushing Jack in front of everyone. I can't let that happen!"
The three duelists lined up at the starting line. Melissa announced from her helicopter. "Whoowee! This match caught us all by surprise! But now I see that it's just the pick-me-up that this city needs! Hang on tight, y'all! Because we're activating our Action Field, Crossover Acceleration!"
The Action Field was deployed, and the countdown screen was lowered in-front of the duelists. {{Better get those plugs sparkin'. Since its now ready, set, and away we go!}} Melissa said as it counted down from three... two... one...

"Yugo made it out of the gate first, so he got the opening turn! Followed by Yuya and finally Sergey!" Melissa commented.
"It's my turn!" Yugo said as he drew a card. "I'll start by summoning Speedroid Terrortop(ATK: 1200/DEF: 600/LV: 3)! Then joining it, will be Speedroid Taketomborg(ATK: 600/DEF: 1200/LV: 3)! Finally, Speedroid Red-Eye Dice(ATK: 100/DEF: 100/LV: 1)!
I tune Speedroid Red-Eye Dice with Terrortop and Taketomborg! Beat your wings to whip up a whirlwind of destruction! I Synchro Summon! Clear Wing Synchro Dragon(ATK: 2500/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)!" Clear Wing emerged roaring right beside Yugo.
"I place two cards facedown and end my turn!" Yugo turned toward Yuya and called out, "Yuya! Jack may have nominated you as his opponent, but I won't lose! I have a promise to keep to RinRin!"
"The same goes for me! I made a promise to Zuzu and I intend to keep it!" Yuya replied back as he started his turn.
"I'll set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 2 Timebreaker Magician(ATK: 1400/DEF: 0/LV: 3/PS: 2) and Scale 8 Xiangsheng Magician(ATK: 500/DEF: 1500/LV: 4/PS: 8)! I'm taking control of this duel, starting now! I'm allowed to summon monsters between levels 3 and 7, all at the same time. Swing far pendulum. Carve the arc of victory! My monsters are ready to swing into action!
Crawl your way to victory, Performapal Sellshell Crab(ATK: 500/DEF: 2500/LV: 5/PS: 2)! Shock and awe them, Performapal Thunderhino(ATK: 200/DEF: 1800/LV: 3)! Turn up the heat, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon(ATK: 2500/DEF: 2000/LV: 7/PS: 4)!"
The moment Yuya summoned Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, it and Clear Wing Synchro Dragon roared together. A sharp, strong pulse was felt between their owners. Yuya remembered what had happened last night. "This was exactly what happened those other times when our dragons are present together. And Yugo said that he and Zuzu were sent to New Domino thanks to Clear Wing. It's like our dragons are trying to come together. But right now, that question can wait."
"Now Xiangsheng Magician will activate her Pendulum Ability! Now Sellshell Crab is the same level as Thunderhino!"
Performapal Sellshell Crab(ATK: 500/DEF: 2500/LV: 5 = 1/PS: 2)
"Why would he change that crab's level?" Yugo wondered.
"Odd-Eyes, attack Clear Wing!" "What the hay? Both of those dragons have the same attack points, they'll both be destroyed!" Melissa commented Yuya's action with great surprise.
"No they won't! Because thanks to Performapal Sellshell Crab, Odd-Eyes gets 300 attack points for every other monster."
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon(ATK: 2500 = 3100/DEF: 2000/LV: 7/PS: 4)
"So that's why you did it, so Clear Wing couldn't use its special ability on that crab!" Yugo deduced. "Too bad I have this. By banishing Taketomborg, Miracle Mirror will keep my dragon from being destroyed!" Clear Wing was protected by a bright light under it and survived the attack. "But you'll still take damage, and thanks to Odd-Eyes, it will be double the trouble!"

"Not bad! But it's just getting started!" Yuya said as he placed two facedowns to end his turn.

"My turn!" Sergey started his turn. "Current optimal duel action is summoning Earthbound Prisoner Stone Sweeper(ATK: 1600/DEF: 1600/LV: 5) to lay groundwork for victory conditions." Sergey summoned Stone Sweeper, who bursted out of the ground. "For next move, I will summon tuner monster Earthbound Prisoner Line Walker(ATK: 800/DEF: 1100/LV: 3)." Line Walker also bursted out of the ground in the same manner as Stone Sweeper.
"Protocol now requires me to activate spell card, Harmonic Synchro Fusion! I use two monsters on field to Synchro Summon and Fusion Summon." Spirit duplicate images of both of the two monsters appeared on the field.
"Say what?!" Yuya was surprised, as was Yugo. "Fusion Summoning and Synchro Summoning?!"
"What a steal! That's like conjuring up two different summons for the price of one!" Melissa commented as the Topsiders cheered.
"Initiating Synchro Summon as primary action. Level 3 Earthbound Prisoner Line Walker tunes Level 5 Earthbound Prisoner Stone Sweeper! I Synchro Summon! Earthbound Servant Geo Gryphon(ATK: 2500/DEF: 1500/LV: 8)! Initiating Fusion Summon as secondary action in protocol. These two Earthbound Prisoners assimilate into one! I Fusion Summon! Earthbound Servant Geo Kraken(ATK: 2800/DEF: 1200/LV: 8)!"

"Bravo." Roget congratulated Sergey with a sinister smile. "By creating a hybrid of both Synchro and Fusion Summoning, I've combined the best aspects of New Domino City and Duel Academy. Yes, only I could achieve such a feat. Now use this power to dispel them from my world." Roget reveled in his brilliance of his accomplishment.

Melissa commented on the situation the boys were in now. "A synchro monster and a fusion monster! Sergey is pulling out all the stops!"
"Initiating victory protocol delta. By banishing Earthbound Prisoner Line Walker from my graveyard, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon is considered resummoned."
Melissa couldn't help but ask, "Why resummon something that's already summoned? I'm flummoxed."
Sergey answered Melissa's question. "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon's resummoning triggers Geo Kraken's special ability. Your Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon is destroyed, and you take 800 points of damage."
"Well, pack my mule! Seems the only reason Sergey resummoned Yuya Sakaki's dragon was so Geo Kraken could take a crack at him! And if Sergey attacks with his monsters, Yuya will be up the creek without a canoe!" Melissa commented, shocking the Topsiders and Lancers watching in the Duel Palace, as Geo Kraken unleashed a purplish-black mist-like attack at Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.
"Don't think so! My Clear Wing Synchro Dragon can negate that ability and destroy that cephalopod! Reverse Revenge!" Clear Wing Synchro Dragon unleashed a blinding light from its wings that destroyed Geo Kraken. "And that's not all! Because Clear Wing gains attack points equal to Geo Kraken!"

"Well, I'll be! Yugo saved Yuya from taking considerable damage, even though Yuya dealt him damage!" Melissa was shocked at Yugo's action.
"When Geo Kraken is destroyed, Geo Gryphon's special ability activates and it destroys Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon." Yuya, in response, sped up past Yugo upon seeing an Action Card and picked it up. "I activate the Action Spell Detour! It negates Geo Gryphon's ability, and you get hit with 500 points of damage!" Segey also picked up an Action Card, but strangely didn't activate it.

"Don't get it wrong, Yuya. But that could've really cause me some problems if I didn't deal with it now." Yugo explained the reason for his action.
"Either way, thanks Yugo."
"My turn! And I summon Speedroid Razorang(ATK: 2000/DEF: 0/LV: 4)." Razorang spun out of its boomerang mode and into its humanoid mode. "I activate Razorang's ability! By changing it to Defense Mode, it cuts 300 attack points from your gryphon!" Razorang went back into its boomerang mode and spun quickly.

"Which triggers Clear Wing Synchro Dragon's special ability, destroying my Razorang and giving its attack points to Clear Wing!"

"Now, attack Geo Gryphon! Spin Storm Sky Strike!" Clear Wing's wings lit up and it whirled its body, creating green whirlwind that encircled its body as it dove toward Geo Gryphon. Sergey's Duel Runner was sent spinning, but it oddly didn't faze its rider.

"With that, I end my turn." Yugo smiled.
"Then it's my turn! Go Odd-Eyes! Let's get some payback for our friends!" Yuya ordered his dragon, who started charging toward Sergey.
Sergey activated his facedown. "I activate the trap card, Earthbound Beginnings! It cuts the damage I take in half!"
SERGEY LP: 1500 = 250
"Then I can activate a Field Spell from my deck. I activate Earthbound Tundra!" Purple energies erupted from the ground and surrounded the tracks. "This field lets me pick up an extra Action Card when I have one in my hand."
"Whoa. That means double the action for Sergey and double the danger for Yuya and Yugo!" Melissa commented worriedly.
"And by banishing my Action Card, you'll take 300 points of damage, and your monster loses 300 attack points."
Yuya and Yugo were on alert now as Yugo's turn ended. "That means we will lose an equal amount of life points and attack points?!" Yugo exclaimed. "This is becoming just like Zuzu's match!" Yuya's reasoning was further backed up since Sergey started maniacally laughing.

His cybernetic eye glowing red, Sergey yelled, "Initiate Turbo Thruster Mode!"

Roget smiled ominously as he looked at a monitor to his side that showed Sergey's vitals. "It's transformation time. Excellent work, Sergey. The Master of Faster will soon find himself... deposed. Then Topsiders and Commons will finally be united in their mutual despair!"
Duel Course - New Domino City - Synchro Dimension
Sergey's Duel Runner's "eyes" glowed red as his Duel Disk sparked lightning, strapped him down, and encased him. Melissa was horrified at the scene as she shrieked. "What's happened to Sergey?!"
Sergey's Runner kept on changing as it became a unicycle, the other two wheels had their spikes turned into three-fingered pincher hands, and a Duel Disk deployed at the "waist". Sergey then emerged at the top, completely combined with his Runner.
Yuya, Yugo, and the other people watching were shocked or and horrified at what had just happened. "What the heck is that?!" Yugo was bug-eyed in shock and fear. Yuya spoke up, in surprise and horror. "What did Roget do to him?! He looks more machine than man!" "I don't know about y'all, but Sergey's new look is givin' me a severe case of the heebie jeebies! I mean, I've known people who were attached to their vehicles, but this is ridiculous!"
"Thruster power up by 242%! I can now pick up all Action Cards faster than Yuya and Yugo." Sergey announced as he took the lead from them. He picked up an Action Card and said, "I banish Action Card to activate Earthbound Tundra's effect. You take 300 points of damage and your Clear Wing Synchro Dragon and Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon both lose 300 attack points!"

"So, this is the full extent of Roget's control over Sergey, huh?" Madame Chaos said in amusement. She, Yuri, and Lady Minerva were watching the duel from a hologram screen. "The transformation into the first ever Biocybernetic Duelist. The integration of the latest biological and cybernetic technologies, merging duelist and vehicle, creating an ultimate dueling machine."
"This explains why it was so hard for me to gain control over him." Lady Minerva theorized as she stroked her chin. "Roget's multiple firewalls and security programs were to keep his greatest enforcer to himself." Yuri chuckled. "Well, well. Either way it is quite scary. Almost as scary as my Starving Venom. And I do mean almost." Yuri emphasized the last "almost".
"I wonder how this duel will end." Madame Chaos unfolded her fan and started to fan herself. "Now that there's a merciless cyborg in play."

''Engaging Action Card damage parameters!" Sergey used his pincer arm to draw a card as his turn started. He smiled as he picked up an approaching Action Card with his left pincher arm. "Uh-oh! Yugo and Yuya better watch out!" Melissa commented. "And now, Earthbound Tundra's effect activates!" A purplish-black sphere surrounded the Action Card he picked up. "By banishing my Action Card, you take 300 points of damage and your monster loses 300 attack points!" Ghostly hands reached over Yugo and Yuya as the Field Spell effect activated.

"He's trying to knock them out of the race!" "Fight fair, you psycho!" The Commons who were watching gave their disapproval. Shinji gave his encouragement to the boys being attacked by Sergey. "C'mon Yuya, Yugo! Crush that creep!" A Commons gave his opinion. "Right now, they'll be lucky enough to survive."
Yugo narrowed his eyes at Sergey with disgust, as he and Yuya evaded the debris as best they could. "Yuya, this guy's really trying to kill us! How about we call a truce until this psycho is out of the way?" "Best idea I've heard of today!" Their dragons roared together in confirmation. "Besides, it seems my Clear Wing wants to settle the score with your Odd-Eyes on who is the stronger dragon." Yuya just smiled. "Let's do this!"
"Then follow my lead!" Yugo motioned Yuya to get close to him. "O-okay!" The two of them were pulled into a single-filed formation. "So, do you have a plan to get past him?" Yuya asked Yugo. "Not yet. But we better think of something and fast.
And as a show of good faith, I play the trap Follow Wing! It will shield Odd-Eyes from being destroyed in battle and provide him with more attack points if the monster is level 5 or above!" "Looks like Yuya and Yugo have decided to tag team Sergey! And who could blame them? They're in a real pinch now!" Melissa cheerfully commented on Yugo's action, causing her hand to slip. And she would've fallen out of the helicopter if it wasn't for her crew's aid.
Sergey pick up another Action card as it began to rain, repeating the process again. "I banish another Action Card to deal you damage and to weaken your monsters."

Sergey flexed, beginning each time he special summoned. "Initiating Synchro Summon to tune Level 1 Earthbound Prisoner Line Walker with Level 5 Earthbound Prisoner Stone Sweeper! I Synchro Summon! Earthbound Servant Geo Gremlin(ATK: 2000/DEF: 1000/LV: 6)! I will now initiate secondary action in protocol! These two Earthbound Prisoners assimilate into one! I Fusion Summon! Earthbound Servant Geo Gremlina(ATK: 2000/DEF: 1000/LV: 6)!"
Turning around, Sergey proclaimed. "Initiating victory protocol alpha." "Alpha?" Yuya wondered. "I activate Geo Gremlin's special ability. You must choose whether to destroy or not destroy your Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" The motion shocked Yuya as Sergey continued. "If you destroy your Odd-Eyes, there will be no battle this turn, and you will postpone your defeat by one turn. If you do not destroy your Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, then I will gain life points equal to your monster's attack points! But that will be irrelevant, because my monsters can attack and deplete the rest of your life points! Now... make choice!"
Yuya was being forced to choose to either save his Odd-Eyes or lose it. "What do I do? Sergey is forcing me to either throw Odd-Eyes away and prevent taking damage until next turn or giving him the advantage in life points."

Roget smirked at the situation. "Yuya must choose to destroy his dragon. It's his one and only hope of survival. But he doesn't know that won't help him either. Because Geo Gremlina's special ability will kick in the instant Yuya eliminates his Odd-Eyes. Geo Gremlina's special ability will destroy all of Sergey's monsters and deal damage equal to the total attack points to them. Between them, the two gremlin monsters have 4000 attack points. But Yuya and Yugo only have 2800 and 1600 life points each, so they will lose." Roget wickedly smiled.

"And now, choice must be selected. Optimal choice, destroy dragon." Sergey's claim caused Odd-Eyes to turn to roar at Yuya. The look that Odd-Eyes gave Yuya was one of disappointment. This startled Yuya, as a familiar feeling touched his heart as his dragon roared louder and louder.
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon responded to hearing the roars as it turned around and roared in response. This caught Yugo's attention and made him look at his dragon. "Clear Wing?"
"Odd-Eyes..." Yuya laughed at himself. "You're right. I need to believe in myself as much as I believe in you."
"My Odd-Eyes is a part of me, and I won't abandon it!" Sergey ordered Yuya. "Destroy dragon!" "I choose to give you life points to save it instead!"
Sergey was shocked. "Does not... compute."
"Yuya won't ditch his dragon, so Sergey gets bucked up by 1300 life points!" Melissa commented on Yuya's decision.
SERGEY LP: 250 = 1550
"Protocol alpha alternative initialized. Geo Gremlin, annihilate Performapal Thunderhino!" Gremlin slammed its fist into the rhino, pulverizing it. But since it was in Defense Mode, Yuya didn't take any damage.
"Geo Gremlina, attack Performapal Sellshell Crab!" Gremlina slammed its paws onto the crab, destroying it.
YUYA LP: 2800 = 1000
"Foolish, saving your dragon is not optimal move." Sergey commented on Yuya's previous action. "I told you. Odd-Eyes has never let me down, and I won't betray it!" "Does not compute. Does not compute!" This caused Sergey to feel a throb in his heart, which then caused him to groan in pain. "I end my turn."
Sector Security Headquarters - New Domino City - Synchro Dimension
Roget noticed that the action had a problem with Sergey. "Now what?"
A beeping distracted Roget from the duel. Roget answered and one of his subordinates on the line. "What is it?!"
"Director, we have a situation! Three unknown individuals have infiltrated our headquarters and appear to be heading towards Zuzu and Celina's cell! They're taking down all our guards!" She reported. "Then send more!"
"Stop slacking, you guys. I'm taking down my fifth guard already!" Sora told the others. "For your information, Sora, I have already taken down my sixteenth." Moon Shadow replied. "Then you're both slacking behind, since I've taken out more than that." Shay replied back. Twilight Ninja Getsuga, the Shogun slashed a Goyo Predator down, Frightfur Chimera's missile blew up a Goyo Defender, and Rise Falcon slashed down a bunch of other Goyo monsters. Despite their comrades falling, the Stomptroopers kept on coming. "There's still a whole horde of them... This may take a while." Sora wearily commented at the approaching Stomptroopers. Moon Shadow added, "Time we do not have. Roget has brainwashed all of Security to serve him, the control room can't be far." "Then let's finish off these pesky flies and get to that control room." Shay stated, preparing to duel again.
Duel Course - New Domino City - Synchro Dimension
Melissa spied another Action Card around a curve up ahead. "I spy another Action Card just up ahead! It seems Yugo and Yuya just can't catch a break!"
Eyeing the walls, Yugo finally had a plan of action. "Yuya, take the left side! I'll take the right!" "Got it!"
Driving to each side, Yuya and Yugo both made a big jump over Sergey utilizing the walls. "Jumpin' jackrabbits! The boys are attempting to leapfrog over Sergey!" Melissa commented as the audience watched in awe.
"Must not let Yuya and Yugo pass me!" Sergey yelled as he calculated their landings. He then used his "arms" to knock them back.
But then something unexpected happened. Clear Wing caught Yugo on its back before he landed and flew him over Sergey, while Odd-Eyes used its tail to knock Yuya ahead.
"NO WAY!" Sergey was astonished at the result. Instead of being in the lead, he was now behind.
"D-did... did that just happen?! Yuya and Yugo's dragons just helped them stay clear of Sergey!" Melissa nearly dropped her jaw to the ground at what just occurred.
A Topsider commented, "Amazing! It's like they're protecting their masters!" "Is that even possible?" A Commons gave their astonishment.
Yuya and Yugo looked at their dragons, grateful and shocked at the actions they did to protect them. For some reason, it felt nostalgic.
"Duel Monsters are alive."
Gasping from the mysterious voice, Yuya and Yugo remembered all the times they were helped by their dragons. Yugo's search for Rin, Yuya's glimpses of new monsters as if they were calling to him, and this duel.
Yugo gratefully smiled at Clear Wing. "Thanks for having our backs, guys." Yuya added, "We won't waste this chance you've given us."
Before drawing a card, Yugo picked up the Action Card, much to the annoyance of the Dueling Destroyer. "I play the Action Spell High Dive, to give my Clear Wing 1000 more attack points this turn!"
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon(ATK: 1300 = 2300/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
"Clear Wing just got souped up with enough attack points to take down one of Sergey's gremlins!" Melissa commented. "Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, wipe out Geo Gremlin with Spin Storm Sky Strike!"
"I activate the spell, Earthbound Glyph! By sending one Earthbound card to the graveyard, an Earthbound on my field can't be destroyed! And I take only half damage!"
SERGEY LP: 1550 = 1400
Yugo voiced his annoyance. "Geez, you're pain you know?! Guess I have to end my turn. And that means Clear Wing's attack points drop."

"Then it's my turn to have a whack at it!" Yuya declared as he drew a card. "Since I already have built my Pendulum Scale, I can summon... my monsters again! Snap to it, Performapal Whip Snake(ATK: 1700/DEF: 900/LV: 4)! H-2-Go, Skeeter Skimmer(ATK: 500/DEF: 1600/LV: 4)!"
Melissa had a guess what Yuya was planning. "Yuya's got two level 4's out! That's gotta mean..."
"I overlay my Performapal Whip Snake and Performapal Skeeter Skimmer to build the Overlay Network! Cloaked in shadows and relentless in its objective, I call upon the most dangerous of dragons! I Xyz Summon! Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon(ATK: 2500/DEF: 2000/RK: 4/OU: 2)!" Dark Rebellion emerged and roared with Odd-Eyes and Clear Wing, giving a burning sensation to both of the boys.
"I need to calm down! Or it'll be just like before when I went lost control!" Yuya remembered all the other times he lost control. Trying to fight the feeling, he told Yugo who experienced the same thing he was now, "We got to keep it together Yugo! We have promises to keep!"
The boys both remembered their own promises. Yuya's to Yuto and Zuzu, and Yugo's promise to Rin. Their words were strong enough to snap them back to normal.
Breathing in and out heavily, Yugo said, "That was close! It was almost like when I dueled Celina."
"I know the feeling." Yuya assured him. "I now activate Dark Rebellion's special ability! It cuts down Gremlina's attack points so it's only half as powerful. Then Dark Rebellion will grow stronger, to the tune of your Gremlina's current attack points! Treason Discharge!"

"Once again, I activate the spell card, Earthbound Glyph! By sending one Earthbound card from my hand to the graveyard, Gremlina can't be destroyed! And the damage I take is cut in half!"

"We were so close to beating him... I end my turn..." Yuya reluctantly ended his turn.

"I activate the spell Earthbound Fusion! It lets me Fusion Summon! I fuse Geo Gremlin and Geo Gremlina! I bring a monster to destroy you! Rising up from molten depths of this world, his volcanic temper is legendary! As his infernal deeds on the battlefield! I Fusion Summon! Emerge... Earthbound Servant Geo Grasha(ATK: 3000/DEF: 1800/LV: 10)!"
"That monster has 3000 attack points!" Yuya exclaimed.
"When Geo Grasha attacks your Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, your dragon's attack points become zero!" Geo Grasha unleashed black miasma from its body to hit Clear Wing, reducing it to having zero attack points. As it did, the surroundings were destroyed by the gusts of miasma. "Yugo, you are finished!" Geo Grasha fired a purple miasma blast at Clear Wing. "Yugo better pull a rabbit out of his helmet!"
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon(ATK: 1300 = 0/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
In acknowledgement to Melissa's commentary, Yuya saw an Action Card and activated it. "Don't bet on it! By activating Evasion, Clear Wing is able to dodge your attack!" "Talk about missing by a hair! Yuya was able to repay his debt by saving Yugo!" Melissa refered to Yugo's destruction of Geo Kraken.
"Thanks a lot, Yuya!" Yuya replied back to his lookalike. "Don't worry about it! Just returning the favor!"
The road underneath them started to crumble from the attack and all the holes Sergey had made. Melissa commented on the event. "Looks like Sergey's road wrecking has caused the track to reach its breaking point!" Sergey wasn't fast enough to escape the collapse. "He's not going to make it!"
Just as Sergey was about to fall, something unexpected happened. Clear Wing Synchro Dragon grabbed Sergey's duel arm and flew him away from the collapse. "Whoa! Yugo used his dragon to pull off a heart-thumpin' midair rescue!" Yugo explained his reason. "This duel should be decided on the track! SO, don't compare us to you!" Yuya agreed. "That's how we roll Sergey!"
"Does not compute! Yugo and Yuya are enemies! Enemies should not help enemies!" The action caused Sergey a headache as he tried to understand the logic behind it. "System overload!"
Breathing a sigh of relief, Sergey uttered, "I'm free."

Roget watched as Sergey's vital sign monitor was covered by a big red ERROR message. "What's happening?!"

Clear Wing threw Sergey ahead to safety. "That was an impressive save all right, but Yugo and Yuya are still weak and are now pullin' up the rear! They better giddy-up quick, folks, 'cause there's an Action Card straight ahead!"

Roget furiously called, "Sergey! Get back to the plan, Sergey! Pick up the next Action Card on the track! Do it or else!"
Meanwhile, a guard approached Zuzu and Celina's cell after Celina had supposedly injured herself. He opened the cell, finding Zuzu sitting by the unconscious Celina. "Move it, I'll take her to the infirmary to be - "
Before he finished his sentence, he was kicked in the face by a shoe - Celina's shoe. This was followed by a hard punch to the stomach, knocking out the guard.
Zuzu was so astonished by Celina's physical strength; she was rendered speechless. Looking at the guard's pained face made her feel sorry for him. "Mental Note: Do not get on Celina's bad side."
"What's wrong? We got to get out of here." Celina told Zuzu. "R-right! Hold on, I'm coming!" Zuzu got up and silently apologized to the guard before locking him up in their place.

"And now... Yugo, Yuya, prepare for the fight of your life! Do not hold back and hit me with everything in your arsenal!"
"Fine by us!" Yugo replied. "I activate Speedroid Scratch! By sending Speedroid Tri-Eyed Dice(ATK: 300/DEF: 1500/LV: 3) to the graveyard, I can add Speedroid Gum Prize(ATK: 0/DEF: 800/LV: 1) to my hand! Next, I play the spell, Speedroid Ghost Call, to bring my Red-Eyed Dice back from the graveyard! I tune Speedroid Red-Eyed Dice with Clear Wing to pave the way for an even mightier dragon! Watch as the essence of that monster take shape. Watch as it is forged by raw power! I Synchro Summon! Take flight, Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon(ATK: 3000/DEF: 2500/LV: 8)!" Yuya smiled as he knew what was coming next.
"So that means you'll be the one to finish this, right Yugo?" Yuya asked, prompting his synchro counterpart to look at him. Nodding in confirmation, Yugo replied, "Yeah. Leave it to me! Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, take flight and strike out Geo Grasha! And it gains Grasha's attack points when it battles, so this duel is over for you Sergey! You ready?!" Sergey gleefully answered, "I am always ready! Bring the pain and let me feel the power of your dragon!"

"Alright, if that's what you're asking for! Go, Crystal Cataclysmic Strike!" Crystal Wing flew at high-speed in a flurry of sparkling energy and came crashing down on Geo Grasha, causing it to erupt soul-like energies as it was destroyed. The Dueling Destroyer accepted the attack whole-heartedly, his insane smile never leaving his face.

The final attack on his life points sent him spinning out of control toward the side and he fell off the track. "Grab him, Crystal Wing!" Yugo ordered his dragon to save Sergey, but surprisingly...
"No!" Sergey knocked away Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon's arm from saving him. "I once again control my own fate, Yugo and Yuya! Farewell... for now!" "Are you serious?!" Yugo said in utter disbelief. Yuya called out, "Sergey!"
Sergey just laughed as he fell. "I'm free!"

The ERROR message kept beeping as Roget stared in disbelief. He finally broke the silence as he clutched his head with his hands and screamed, "NOOOOOO!"
The subordinate from earlier pulled up on his main monitor. "Director, we have another situation!" "NOW WHAT IS IT?!" Roget asked furiously, causing the operator to flinch from his angry tone. "I-it's j-just th-that Celina and Zuzu have escaped." She finally reported.
"WHAT?!" Switching to the cell camera, Roget saw only the unconscious guard in their place. "Insolent brats! Recapture them immediately!"

"Sergey has... I mean... He's gone." Melissa finally overcame her shock. "Now this duel is just between Yuya and Yugo! Will these two finish the score and prove who will take on Jack Atlas?"
"Of course we will!" Yugo confirmed. "Yuya, I know I already said this. You may have been chosen to be Jack's opponent, but for the sake of Rin and my promise, I won't concede easily!" He declared as he set a card.
Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon(ATK: 6000 = 3000/DEF: 2500/LV: 8)
"That's fine with me! I have my own promises to keep to Yuto and Zuzu. And to remind this city that dueling is all about fun! It's time to swing into action!" Yuya started his turn.
"First off, let's try to make this a duel against only us! So I activate Double Emergency Provisions, to destroy all face-up spell and trap cards on the field, and we'll both gain 1000 for each one."

"Wha? Yuya just increased his and Yugo's life points, but Yugo still has the higher life points! Just what is he tryin' to pull here?!" Melissa questioned.
"I have replenished our life points back to the beginning, so I think we can restart this duel! You okay with that Yugo?" Yugo just smiled. "I still have more life points than you."
Yuya smiled at his lookalike's acceptance. "Then I'll make it up by draining them as fast as possible this turn! Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon! Use your ability and power yourself up with half of Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon's attack points!" Dark Rebellion unleashed its purple lightning on Crystal Wing.

"It's just not the same without Clear Wing by my side. You may know its effect, but that won't make it easier for you! Rin placed her hopes with my Clear Wing, so I will too to win this duel! Let's see who has the stronger dragon!"
"You're on!" Yuya accepted Yugo's challenge. "Give me everything you got!"

"Oh, I will!" Yugo began his turn. "I summon Speedroid Double Yoyo(ATK: 1400/DEF: 1400/LV: 4) to kick it off! "Then I activate my Clear Wing's ability, so I can give Double Yoyo's attack points to it!"

Now I can summon monsters levels 4 through 7 as I like. Swing forth pendulum, carve the arc of victory! My monsters are ready to swing into action! Good to see you Odd-Eyes!" Yuya resummoned his ace monster, now back to full health.
"Now Xiangke is going to activate his Pendulum Ability, to turn Dark Rebellion's rank into a level!"

"It has a level instead of a rank?! Wait, why does this seem familiar?" Yugo wondered.
"Now I activate Xiangsheng's Pendulum Ability! Dark Rebellion is now the same level as Odd-Eyes!" Xiangsheng shot her arrow in-between Dark Rebellion and Odd-Eyes, making them the same level.

"You've got two level 7's with that!" Yugo exclaimed, surprised.
"Yeah, now I can overlay Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon and Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon to build the Overlay Network! Dragon with blazing, raging eyes, come and conquer all that stand against you! I Xyz Summon! Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon(ATK: 3000/DEF: 2500/RK: 7/PS: 4/OU: 2)!
Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon, take down Clear Wing with Sweeping Static Strike!" Odd-Eyes Rebellion charged with its tusks and clashed with the synchro dragon.
Spotting an Action Card ahead, Yugo raced for it and picked it up. "I play the Action Spell, Tenacity! My Clear Wing will survive this turn!" Yuya also noticed an Action Card above. He jumped from the side wall and grabbed it. "In that case, I play the Action Spell Take Flight to give my dragon 600 more attack points this turn!" The two dragons clashed with each other in a spectacular display. In the end, they had to back down to their masters' sides, with Clear Wing being forced back.

Yuya told his synchro double as remembered what Yuto said to him as he entrusted his ace monster to him. "Always remember... to use your power... to keep the world entertained... and smiling..."
Looking at Yuya, Yugo's eyes widened as he thought he saw Yuto overlapped with Yuya. Rubbing his eyes in case he was seeing things, the Xyzian doppelgänger's spirit-like image wasn't seen by the turbo duelist anymore. "What was that?" Yugo questioned in his mind.
"I place one card facedown and end my turn." Yuya declared, snapping Yugo from his thoughts.

"I tune 23 Ship with Horse Stilts! I Synchro Summon! A monster who really knows how to edge out the competition, Hi-Speedroid Chanbara(ATK: 2000/DEF: 1000/LV: 5)!
I place one card facedown to end my turn." As Yugo ended his turn, "Yuya looked at his field. "None of his monsters have enough attack points to match up to Odd-Eyes Rebelllion, unless that facedown is..."
Yuya said as he started his turn, "Let's see what you have planned Yugo! Odd-Eyes Rebellion attack Chanbara!" Yuya grabbed a nearby Action Card for insurance. "And for a precaution, I play the Action Spell Charge Recklessly! Now my dragon gains 600 more attack points!"

Yugo smiled. "I hoped you do that! I activate the trap, Speedroid Shuriken Hurricane! Since the attack points of a monster changed while I control a Speedroid, you take that same amount as damage!"

Melissa commented. "That's not all! When Chanbara battles, it gets 100 points stronger! And thanks to my trap, you also take 100 points of damage!"

"Not bad, Yuya!" Yugo was impressed. "And since the spell I discarded was Performapal Stand-in, I can summon a Performapal from my deck! I choose Performapal Elephammer(ATK: 2600/DEF: 1800/LV: 6)!" "Not only did you stop my attack, but you also summoned a new monster. Bring it on!"
"My pleasure! I draw!" The card Yuya drew was Tuning Magician. "My monsters have more attack points than Yugo's... but he could still grab an Action Card... I, at least, want to take out his trap with Elephammer. But Clear Wing will use its special ability to cancel that ability..."
As he pondered his strategy, Tuning Magician's spirit appeared beside him. It was like when he dueled Shinji. "Are you telling me to summon Enlightment Paladin?" Odd-Eyes' roar shifted his attention to the left side. It was looking at him the same way Tuning Magician was. Then Yuya had a vision and saw the shadowed form of a brand-new monster. "I know what I have to do!" Yuya's eyes widened in realization of his course of action.
"What's taking you so long, Yuya? Will you hurry up?" Yugo was getting impatient.
"Since I already have built my Pendulum Scale, I can summon, my monsters again! Welcome back to the party Performapal Sellshell Crab! And now I summon Tuning Magician(ATK: 0/DEF: 0/LV: 1)!" With Tuning Magician, Yuya lost 400 life points when it was summoned, while Yugo gained that amount.

YUGO LP: 900 = 1300
"Is he going to summon Enlightment Paladin?" Yugo wondered, but was taken by surprise when Yuya declared, "Quick, Elephammer! Attack Chanbara! And boy are we in for some ele-fun! Because when he attacks, he blows all your spells and traps back to your hand!" Before it made its way over to Chanbara, Elephammer blew its trunk, sending Yugo's trap back to his hand as he braved the gust that blew it away. Even though Chanbara gained attack points, it was flattened.

"Now Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon, take down Clear Wing Synchro Dragon with Sweeping Static Strike!" As the attack came, Yugo jumped from the side wall and activated the Action Card he grabbed. "I play the Action Spell, Overpass! Now Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is the stronger monster!"

The dragons clashed again, but with their attack points swapped. Clear Wing was the one to emerge victorious this time, breaking Rebellion's tusks and causing it to explode.

"Odd-Eyes Rebellion was destroyed!" Amanda watched in worry. "And that's bad! Because Yugo can attack Yuya and deplete all his life points next turn!" Sylvio added.

"I activate Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon's other ability! When it's destroyed, I can destroy all the monsters in my Pendulum Zones and place Rebellion Dragon in one of those zones!" Yuya's move perplexed Yugo. "So what does that accomplish?" "It lets me activate Rebellion Dragon's Pendulum Ability! I can place a monster from my deck in my other Pendulum Zone, and I choose Performapal Marble Fairy(ATK: 100/DEF: 200/LV: 1/PS: 9)!" A fairy-like Performapal monster that wore a yellow dress and leaf crown while carrying a wooden staff appeared in the other Pendulum Zone.
"And now I activate Marble Fairy's Pendulum Ability! I can bring back my Odd-Eyes from my Extra Deck! Then I play her other ability, I can change Odd-Eyes from level 7 to level 6 and use it to Synchro Summon even during battle."

The move confused Yugo. "Wait, so you're not summoning your Paladin?!" "That's right, because now I tune Tuning Magician with my level 6 Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, to call forth a new dragon! Dragon with cosmic, blazing eyes! Shatter the heavens with your light! Ladies and gentlemen! Look to the stars and feast your eye on Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon(ATK: 2500/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)!" Meteorburst arrived in a fireball resembling a comet and roared loudly, which Clear Wing returned with its own roar.
The new dragon's summoning was a surprise for everyone. "Well bust my buckets! Yuya Sakaki has just summoned a brand-new synchro dragon! Once again, he has surprised us with another pairing of Pendulum and Synchro Summoning!"
"Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon, attack Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!" "Say wha?! That dragon doesn't have enough attack points to match up to Clear Wing!" Melissa commentated on Yuya's action.
"Yes, it will! Because when Meteorburst battles, it gains 500 attack points until the end of the turn. And since I have Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon in my Pendulum Zone, I can add its attack points to my new synchro dragon as well!"
Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon(ATK: 2500 = 6000/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
"That won't happen! Clear Wing negates that ability and gains your dragon's attack points!" Yugo activated his monster's special ability. "Wrong. When Meteorburst Dragon is battling, you can't activate your monster's abilities!"
"What?!" Yugo was surprised, shocked as he could only watch as his Clear Wing was obliterated by Meteorburst as it fired an intense flame that took the shape of a meteor.
Yugo's shocked face slowly turned into a smile as he closed his eyes, wholeheartedly accepting the fact he lost. "I'm sorry... RinRin..."
YUGO LP: 800 = 0
Yugo's Duel Runner stopped as it let out steam the moment he lost all his LP, allowing Yuya to ride past him and enter the stadium with his face shown on the monitor as Melissa declared him the winner. {{Thru a come from behind victory, Yuya wins the final and the right to challenge Jack Atlas!}} The audience who watched the duel and all of Yuya's friends cheered for Yuya's victory, giving a roar of applause.
"I can't believe that I lost when I was so close!" Yugo pouted as he took off his helmet, but it quickly turned into a smile. "But still, that was a great duel. Clear Wing is certainly feeling the same."
"I'm sure Rin would've been proud of you. You did your best out there." Yuya returned the smile to Yugo.
"Yeah, can't wait to tell her when we get her back and take down Duel Academy. That is what the Lancers are going to do, right?" Yugo said as he put his arms behind his head.
"I take it you're joining us?" "That's right! The more help the better, right?!" Yugo held up his left hand toward Yuya in a thumbs up.
"But before all that..." Yuya looked up at the throne and Jack, who sat there like a king was supposed to be doing. "You have to beat Jack and unite this city."
Yugo took out Clear Wing from his Extra Deck and extended the card for Yuya to take, puzzling him. "Take it." "Wha?! But this is your most important card!" Yuya hesitated to take it.
"It's only for you to borrow, okay? You have to return it to me after the duel. Understand?" Yugo emphasized the "understand".
"I also want to help unite this city and make things better for everyone. So... here." Yugo once again offered his ace.
Hesitantly, Yuya accepted the card after seeing Yugo's sincere face. "Thanks Yugo. I'll definitely win and return your card." After promising his synchro double, Yuya turned to face Jack once more. "Let's put on a show Jack and show that there is a new king. The King of Dueltaining!"

I think I'm going to change things up now on how I write this. All this time, I've been using the official dub to write this, alternating watching it with subtitles and writing this fanfic. SO... I am counting on my followers to help me write in the dub pieces.
