Chapter 13: Love

"Day 135, this could finally be it. Initiating first test. Here we go", Entrapta said.

The three watch as the machine creates a large bubble of electric energy, which picks up pieces of a portal and spins them into place, a portal forming. Hordak smirked and looked down at Entrapta, who gasped as the portal started growing unstable.

Sam asked, "what's going on?"

"Something's wrong. I'm turning it off", Entrapta said as she rushed forward.

Entrapta, Imp and Hamill were coughing from the smoke.

Entrapta asked, "Sam? Hordak?"

Then it was blowing out the power grid, so we rerouted w it's powered, it's functioning, but it won't activate a portal. It's like there's a key. Maybe when Catra brings that tech back from the Crimson Waste….", Entrapta said as she walked over to the machinery.

"Catra is never coming back from that fool's errand. The machine is a failure. We're done here. Get out", Hordak said as he laughed darkly.

"That was just our first test. If we try….", Entrapta said.

"Get out", Hordak shouted.

Entrapta then left the room.

Sam asked, "Hordak?"

"I need to be alone, Sam", Hordak said.

Sam gave a hurt look as he complied with Hordak's request, leaving the room with a storm brewing inside of him.

"You want to know what I am; I am a clone! A clone of the emperor of the known universe, Horde Prime", Hordak shouted.

Sam gasped.

"Horde Prime cloned himself, building an army to conquer all he saw. Planets, worlds, galaxies fell before us. I was his top general, but there was a defect in my cloning, and defects are worthless to Prime. I was sent to die on the front lines, but during battle, a portal opened and sent me crashing to Etheria, stranding me here", Hordak explained.

'So that's how Hordak ended up on Etheria', Sam thought.

"With nothing but a broken ship, I built an empire. When my portal opens, I shall bring forth my brother's armies to crush The Rebellion, and Horde Prime will see that he was wrong. I am not a defect. I am worth something", Hordak said.

"But the portal machine does not work. I haven't conquered the planet. I could not even clone a new body for myself. Perhaps…. Perhaps Prime was right…. I am a failure", Hordak said.

By the end of the battle, I had to slice the arm and legs off of my own brother, leaving him to die on that planet. But my brother lived. And he became the ultimate evil of the galaxy. My brother is Darth Vader."

Hordak and Entrapta were both shocked to the core by this revelation.

Sam continued with, "I failed so many people when the Republic fell. I lost Quarrie, my boyfriend. I lost my brother. I lost Padme, and had to take care of her children. I lost so many good friends. Hordak then sat down.

Entrapta was still working.

"I do not need your help in this", Hordak said as he crossed his arms.

"Imperfection is what makes scientific experimentation possible. Imperfection is beautiful, at least to me", Entrapta said.

Hordak stares at her in amazement, Entrapta reaches a hair tendril around him and picks him up.

"Stand here", Entrapta said, and sits him down nearby and raises his arms into a T-pose as he grunts in surprise.

An hour later

Entrapta had finished with Hordak's new exoskeleton armor.
