You Show Duel School - City - Fusion Dimension
Zuzu was looking at her bracelet in concerned worry about Yuya. "I don't get it. Ever since yesterday, I've had this really horrible feeling about Yuya. And it won't go away. Yuya... just what's going on in the Xyz Dimension?"
"You're worrying about Yuya, aren't you?" Yusho patted Zuzu's head as he returned from his checkup.
"Mr. Sakaki. Sorry. I know I should be getting ready for what's going to happen but..."
"It's alright. Because I feel the same way." Yusho assured the girl, standing beside her. "Yesterday, for some strange reason, I've only been able to worry about Yuya and my students in Heartland."
"Really?"
"Yes. I even had a nightmare last night... about Yuya. He was trapped within a prison of darkness. No matter how hard I tried to help him, I wasn't able to."
"Mr. Sakaki..."
"Just worrying about him isn't going to change things as they are, right now. That's why we need to succeed in stopping Duel Academy." Yusho said in hope of making both of them stay positive.
Zuzu smiled as she knew what Yusho was trying to do. "Which is why we need to stop Duel Academy, so we can go back home and live our lives peacefully again."
"From what you told me, Yuya has become a capable duelist and it would be assuring to know that he was here with us, but it would be preferred that he wasn't. If we can stop Leo before he and the other Lancers get here, then Yuya won't get hurt."
Teleportation Room - Duel Academy Base - Heartland City - Xyz Dimension
After the forces of Duel Academy had left the Xyz Dimension, the Lancers, under Declan's leadership, took up residence in the base Duel Academy used to be stationed in. However, it wasn't easy to get into, since they had boosted up the security system after Iggy and Kite had sprung Yuya free from the base last time.
But the worst was yet to come. Apparently, they have been some kind of failsafe that the Duel Academy soldiers that the Lancers had taken prisoner had been unaware of. When the Lancers got in, certain necessary rooms were found to have had exploded, requiring immediate repairs. The prisoners theorized that Captain Perceptra was responsible and caused it so the Lancers would be slowed down in their assault on Duel Academy.
One of these such rooms was the room where interdimensional transporter was. The machine was in need of urgent repair since it was busted pretty well. Therefore, Declan had gotten some of his men from the Standard Dimension to repair it.
"How much time will it take for it to be repaired?" Declan asked his faithful employee, Claude, who was overseeing the repairs.
"At the current pace, probably a few days. A week at most." Claude reported.
"We can't afford to waste any time staying idle. Try and get it finished as quick as you can."
"Remind me again why we're not gonna use the programs in the confiscated Duel Academy Duel Disks?" Sylvio inquired. "Because the last time we used something like that, we all wound up bein' scattered, remember?" Gong reminded Sylvio for his lack of memory. "And the fact this will be enemy territory, we may be putting ourselves in danger and at risk in a place we know little about." Declan finished.
"At least we're getting some good intel from those Duel Academy punks that we were able to take prisoner." Shay sighed. "Although... I never expected they would so willingly do so." Declan offered a reason why. "That's thanks to Yuya since he was able to help them accept reality."
"It was no problem." Yuya then walked into the room.
"Yuya. How was the examination?" Declan had ordered Yuya to allow himself to be examined with his pendant once they learned the ability of creating Pendulum Cards, the immunity to being turned into a card, and changing those who were turned into cards back had originated from the pendant.
"'Fraid we got very little more than when Duel Academy examined me. The only progress we were able to make is that I can restore the people sealed into cards without the pendant. That's because some of its energy was transferred into me." Yuya answered as he looked at his pendant. "They were able to transfer some of the pendant's energy into a containment tube. They're examining the energy now, but it seems that portion is slowly becoming self-sustaining."
"I see. It's at least a start in the process. I suggest you take a rest now. You were changing back people all day, yesterday, nonstop. You should take it easy for the rest of the day." Declan told the dueltainer.
"I will... and Declan? Thanks."
"For what?"
"For the lecture. It helped me pull my act back together." Yuya scratched a bit of his cheek while chuckling.
"All I'm doing is what a leader would do." Declan answered simply.
"Still... it was helpful. Thanks." Yuya smiled at his leader, who fixed his glasses and smiled quietly as well.
"I'm gonna get going. See you later, Declan." Yuya excused himself.
"Just don't do that again."
"Huh?" Stopping in his tracks, Yuya looked at Declan, who had suddenly spoke.
"Saying what you do is worthless. Don't let that doubt or anyone else's opinion drag you down like that. Your dueltaining has touched many lives in multiple dimensions. There's no doubt that your father will be quite pleased when he hears about that." Declan said, back turned to his Lancers.
Yuya was stunned for a moment before he smiled again. "I know. And you should know that we all have your back. So don't be afraid of hiding anything from us." The other Lancers smiled in agreement to the statement at their leader.
As Yuya disappeared from the room, he didn't notice that Declan had a surprised and disbelief-filled emotion that was barely visible to the others.
Shelter - Heartland City - Xyz Dimension
"It's Yuya!"
As soon as Yuya entered the shelter where the survivors were staying, he was quickly mobbed by the children who asked him to teach them dueltaining, something Yuya agreed to, but not before he got some rest. It took their parents and the Resistance to convince them to wait a little longer and let Yuya rest.
"Hey, Yuya!"
Yuya turned and saw that Tarren, whom he had returned to normal much to Crow's joy, running at him with Crow, Jack, and Yugo in tow. Yuya remembered how Crow cried tears of joy as he hugged Tarren after he had returned from being a card.
"Tarren! How are you doing?" Yuya asked as he patted the boy's head.
"I'm A-OK!" Tarren replied energetically.
"You've got to worry about yourself, Yuya. You look like you had spent an entire night just fixin' up a Duel Runner, nonstop!" Crow teased.
"I guess. I just wanted to see how everyone was doing before I catch a snooze." Yuya told them as he held Tarren up, causing the boy to laugh.
"Take it easy. We'll take care of everything! You just get rested so we can have an entertaining rematch for the crown!" Yugo said while he flicked Yuya's forehead.
"Wait, what?" Yuya asked as he set Tarren down and rubbed his forehead.
"The Friendship Cup will still be an annual thing, but it has undergone major changes. This time, it will be fully committed to bringing the city together and no one is getting sent to the Underground." Jack explained with assurance.
"Yep! You're the champion of the Friendship Cup, so you've got to pick up the gauntlet when it's thrown down. And I'm going to be the one that will beat you!" Yugo pointed to Yuya, right in his face, as he made his declaration.
Jack got in-between Yuya and Yugo, crossing his arms as he made his own declaration. "But first, if you want to become the champion, you'll have to beat me first! After all, I will reclaim my crown."
Yugo smiled wider. "Just when I thought today couldn't get any better, the Master of Faster challenges me to duel for dueling Yuya! And I gladly accept that!"
While Jack and Yugo continued their conversation, Yuya excused himself to Crow and Tarren, moving on to see the others. All the way there, Yuya was greeted by everyone in the shelter, which Yuya returned. Despite the tiring attention, the happy faces of the people liberated from their misery were enough of a reward for Yuya.
"You should expect this to persist. After all, you are the one who liberated the Xyz Dimension."
"Alright, enough of the praise, Yuto. It's getting embarrassing." Yuya replied as he rubbed the back of his head.
"It's still hard to believe that after all this time, my dimension is free. As a resident of Heartland, I express my deepest thanks, Yuya." Yuto's gratitude embarrassed Yuya even more.
"You don't have to thank me, Yuto. Besides, what are friends for?"
"... Speaking of that... I'm sorry..."
"For what?"
"For not completely trusting your beliefs. Even after all you've done, I still didn't trust that you were doing the right way to go about it." Yuto bowed his head in an apologetic way. It was obvious that he regretted not fully believing in his friend, even though that he had been a part of his body and saw all of his accomplishments with his own eyes.
"Don't worry. I understand why you didn't. After what Duel Academy did, I don't blame you thinking that destroying them is the only way to stop them. But now you know there's a better way than just fighting."
"Yuya..."
"Oh, there's Celina and Iggy!" Yuya noticed the two Fusion duelists and approached them. "Hey, guys. What are you doing?"
"Comparing our Duel Disks. Turns out that Iggy's has some differences compared with mine." Celina said as she inspected Iggy's Duel Disk.
"Really? Like what?" Yuya's looked at the Duel Disks inquisitively.
"For one thing, Iggy's doesn't have the ability to travel across dimensions like mine does." Celina then showed an icon of Duel Academy's emblem on her Duel Disk.
"What do you mean?" Yuya tilted his head.
"Unlike mine and Sora's, Iggy doesn't have a failsafe program. That activates when we reveal too much or when we're beaten. But we can activate the program manually to travel across dimensions just by pressing this icon here."
Yuya then remembered his first encounter with Yuto. How Sora's Duel Disk had emitted a blue light and teleported him away during the duel. He also remembered every time when he defeated Obelisk Force and how Sora had pressed something on his Duel Disk and teleported away after their match in the Arc League Championship.
"By the way Celina, I also heard you had an examination. Are you okay?" Yuya asked in concern.
"Physically, yes. It's just that... I've been having these strange dreams lately about a boy and a girl. But I can't seem to remember them for some reason." Celina explained with a frown.
"A hidden memory?" Yuya guessed.
"No, it doesn't appear to be that way. According to the examination, there happen be traces that pieces of my memory have been erased by other means. As in ways that other people do on purpose. Most likely, the Professor's doing." Celina explained as she held her head.
"Why would he do that? Why wouldn't the Professor want you to remember those two?"
"Dunno. But, whenever I remember them, I feel so happy and warm... as if together we were a loving family." Celina placed her hand on her chest as she smiled as that feeling surfaced again.
"The boy was the one who gave me Smile Universe, and the girl gave me a monster card that I found along with it." Celina revealed the monster card that she found along with the spell card.
"Man, that is cute and creepy at the same time." Iggy commented. "The monster I mean." "It doesn't seem to be all that powerful." Yuya commented as he read the effect.
"The girl who gave me this said that I was like a part of her own family to her." Celina explained.
"Whoever those two were, they must've really trusted and cared about you, Celina." Yuya was glad Celina did have friends in Duel Academy, but his perspective of the Professor, Leo Akaba, only soured more. The very thought of forcibly erasing someone else's cherished memories was a bitter thought.
Yuya and Yuto had a shared frown of disapproval on their faces. "If what you're saying is right, then that is going way too far. Stealing the happiness of others just for your own selfish gains? That's beyond despicable."
Celina clenched her fists. "When it comes to the Professor, anything is no longer a possibility..."
The conversation was interrupted by Allen, who called out for Iggy. The muscular build he developed due to his dueling style being focused with martial arts made him suitable for various jobs. Iggy then excused himself to help them out.
"I think I'll take my leave too." Celina said as she stood up. "I think a walk is needed to clear my head of some other things that I need to sort out." She then left, waving to Yuya, who waved to her as she left the shelter before he went to go sleep.
Ruins of Heartland City - Xyz Dimension
After spending some amount of time walking, Celina looked at her bracelet. "I forgot to tell Yuya that I also had my bracelet examined too. The only thing we got from the examination of my bracelet was that it holds the power of the moon. But we really can't understand why since the equipment here is very limited.
But why does this bracelet have it? Why do I have it? Where did it come from? And why do I have this strong connection with it?"
Celina shook her head as she brushed those thoughts to the side. " Whatever the reason, I can put those questions aside, for now. At least until we confront the Professor."
Celina closed to her eyes as she walked and felt the breeze. It was the first refreshing breeze that she had felt in a long time. Ever since she and her friends got to this dimension, there had been nothing but strife. But now, with Duel Academy no longer a threat here, the air became clear and calm. The city may be far from beautiful, but at least the atmosphere was more peaceful.
"Wouldn't it be great if it was this peaceful all the time?" Celina asked particularly no one. She had questioned that aloud unconsciously as she immersed herself in the refreshing atmosphere.
"Too bad nothing lasts forever."
Celina had a shiver down her spine as she heard that all too familiar voice. Slowly turning behind her, she came face-to-face with the owner of that voice. Celina furrowed her brows as she recognized the owner of that voice and the comrade with him standing on top of one of the ruined buildings.
"Yuri! Madame Chaos!"
"Indeed. Nice to see you again, Celina." Madame Chaos replied to the indigo-haired girl's reaction, as the two loyalists of the Professor leapt down from the ruins.
"What are you doing here?" Celina asked as she readied herself for an inevitable duel.
"Isn't it obvious? We are here to take you back to Duel Academy. Under the Professor's orders, of course." Madame Chaos replied calmly as she and Yuri approached Selena step-by-step.
"You came... alone?" Celina looked around the three of them and saw no one else other than her and the other two.
"Yes... We came alone. We don't need a bunch of lackeys dragging us down." Yuri honestly said.
"You two think that you have a chance to capture me, after we drove Aster and his forces back to the Fusion Dimension? Looks like Duel Academy is losing the war."
"Maybe. But I do not care. Even if the Professor is a bit upset about losing our foothold in the Xyz Dimension." Yuri stopped when the distance between him and Celina was already close enough.
"That's precisely why the Professor is currently having a meeting right now with the other high-ranking members in Duel Academy, Yuri. The only reason I tagged along with you is because I really hate those kinds of meetings." Madame Chaos explained as she walked to his side.
"Whatever." Yuri replied. "By the way, I seem to recall faintly that I never finished a duel with Celina that I had in the Synchro Dimension. If you don't mind, Madame Chaos, I would like to duel Celina by myself."
"Very well."
"Let's do this!" Celina activated her Duel Disk and deployed the Action Field.
GENERATING ACTION FIELD: CROSSOVER
[Let's duel!]
"I'll go first! To start, I am summoning out Predaplant Chlamydosundew(ATK: 600/DEF: 200/LV: 2).
And thanks to its special ability, Chlamydosundew allows me to Fusion Summon without using Polymerization. So I fuse my Predaplant Chlamydosundew with an Evil Thorn(ATK: 100/DEF: 300/LV: 1) together! By crafting these two ravenous plants together, I'll create a botanical nightmare!" The two monsters entered the orange and blue vortex as Yuri clapped his hands together. "I Fusion Summon... a floral monstrosity you may remember, Predaplant Chimerafflesia(ATK: 2500/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)!
I place two cards facedown and end my turn. Now, please don't hold back. I would be disappointed if you turned out to be the same as Lulu, Rin, and Zuzu. Being all bark and no bite." Yuri motioned his left hand to his opponent and then back to him, daring the indigo-haired girl.
Celina responded to the taunt with a glare at her opponent. "I'll make you eat those words!" And with that declaration she drew a card to begin her turn. Revealing a card, Celina spent no time in activating it. "And just like you, I'll also summon a fusion monster!
With Polymerization, I can fuse Lunalight Blue Cat(ATK: 1600/DEF: 1200/LV: 4) and Lunalight Purple Butterfly(ATK: 1000/DEF: 1000/LV: 3)! By combining the reflexes of a fierce feline, with the fluttering fury of a nighttime huntress, I can create a new lunar legend! I Fusion Summon! Lunalight Cat Dancer(ATK: 2400/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)!
And my Cat Dancer is always aiming to look her best, so I'm activating Lunalight Perfume help her out! Its wonderful aroma allows me to call Lunalight Blue Cat to claw herself back from the graveyard to help me scratch my way to freedom! Resurrecting my cat gives me an advantage over you, since she doubles the Lunalight Cat Dancer's attack points!"
Lunalight Cat Dancer(ATK: 2400 = 4800/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
"It's time for me to pounce. I activate Cat Dancer's special ability! By tributing Blue Cat, Cat Dancer's allowed to attack your dark pansy twice! Full Moon Mayhem!" Cat Dancer blasted a beam at the Predaplant.
"How predictable." Yuri sighed at Celina's obvious move. "I activate... the trap Predaprouting! Not only does Chimerafflesia endure your attack, but your Cat Dancer is destroyed too!"
Vines emerged from Yuri's revealed Normal Trap and lunged at Cat Dancer, who was trying to stop her attack.
"Figures you would try that! That's why I have Lunalight Green Mantis(ATK: 1500/DEF: 1800/LV: 4) to block that!" Selena summoned a Lunalight monster that looked a lot like a Kaleido Chick, but her costume was mantis-like and she wore a black jumpsuit.
The green arthropod-like Lunalight jumped down in front of Cat Dancer, arms open, and took the vines willingly. Once she was destroyed, Celina's go-to fusion monster was able to continue her attack.
"Then I'll counter that using my other facedown, Predalure! It negates your feline's special ability. Which means you can't attack Predaplant Chimerafflesia twice!"
Lunalight Cat Dancer furiously attacked the huge Predaplant fusion monster. But thanks to Predaprouting's effect, she wasn't able to destroy it.
YURI LP: 4000 = 1700
"Bravo. But no matter how much you up your game, it's still easy to predict your movements." Yuri playfully clapped his hands for Celina, which the girl ignored.
"Yeah, well, I don't need your opinion about my way of dueling." Celina retorted as she set a card down to end her turn. "Now quit your yappin' and get battlin'!"
Lunalight Cat Dancer(ATK: 4800 = 2400/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
"No problem. My monster is just dying for a good meal." Chimerafflesia's massive mouth and vines hissed as it got ready to attack.
"To jog your memory, my Chimerafflesia steals a 1000 of your monster's attack points when it attacks! Vine Cravings!"
Predaplant Chimerafflesia(ATK: 2500 = 3500/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
Lunalight Cat Dancer(ATK: 2400 = 1400/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
Celina jumped to her left, picking up an Action Card. "I activate the Action Spell, Evasion! So your attack is a miss!"
"That's what you think!" Yuri surprisingly picked up an Action Card of his own, retrieving it from one of the floating boards. "My Action Spell, No Action, cancels it out! Which means your Action Card is a no!"
Celina's Evasion was destroyed thanks to No Action's effect. Before Celina could dash for another Action Card, Chimerafflesia's vines had already caught Cat Dancer by her legs. And it wasted no time in consuming her.
Celina gasped as she watched how Cat Dancer was eaten. It made her sick enough to puke right there.
CELINA LP: 4000 = 1900
"You may have thought those moves have not destroyed my monster and left me with nothing, but I'm still a step ahead! I activate Lunalight Reincarnation Dance, which will make this setback into a setup! Since you destroyed my Cat Dancer, I can add two brand new Lunalights to my hand!" Celina quickly drew two new cards from her deck and showed them to Yuri.
"My, my. How impressive. I think I've done enough damage for this turn, so go ahead and surprise me. If you can, that is." Yuri's taunt was coupled with him licking his lips as he set one of his only two cards in his hand facedown.
Predaplant Chimerafflesia(ATK: 3500 = 2500/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
"Don't be so smug! I'm going to wipe that grin off your face! So don't you cry about it when you lose - "
"So don't you cry about it when you lose!"
Yuri and Celina gasped quietly when those words left Celina's mouth. To Yuri, they reminded him of a girl that said the exact same thing, but he couldn't remember who it was. A large part of that was because of a hard pain in the head that attacked him, disrupting his train of thought on the matter. Celina's case? It felt as if she was dueling the mysterious boy again.
"Why is this happening? It is as if I'm dueling that boy right now." Celina then clenched her eyes and shook her head to shake off the thought. "Focus, Celina! You'll have to focus on what is happening right now!"
"It's my turn, I draw! Since you cleared my field of monsters, Lunalight Yellow Mole(ATK: 400/DEF: 900/LV: 2) can burrow her way into the battlefield from my hand!" Celina special summoned a yellow Lunalight that burrowed from underground and leapt onto the field. The new Lunalight girl was similar in age to Blue Cat but was wearing a mole-themed jumpsuit.
"And because I summoned her with her own special ability, I can place a Lunalight that's one level higher than her in my Pendulum Zone. I choose Lunalight Deer(ATK: 800/DEF: 1500/LV: 3/PS: 10)!" Celina placed a Lunalight pendulum monster that wore a red outfit that resembled a female deer in her Right Pendulum Zone.
"I activate Lunalight Deer's Pendulum Ability! I can bring back my Lunalight Cat Dancer by negating her special abilities!" Celina summoned back her ace fusion monster, silently apologizing to her for letting her get eaten while doing so.
"Even though you used one of your cat's nine lives to help her come back, she's not strong enough to take out my monster. And she no longer has her special abilities anymore." Yuri correctly stated.
"That's not a problem with Lunalight Yellow Mole's ability! Since I have Cat Dancer, I can Fusion Summon a monster without using Polymerization!
By combining the keenness of a mole with the reflexes of a fierce feline, I can create a new lunar legend! I Fusion Summon! Now appear sleek creature of the night, and ready those razor-sharp claws! Lunalight Panther Dancer(ATK: 2800/DEF: 2500/LV: 8) is on the prowl!
And she's got more than enough attack points to take out your plant! Panther Dancer can attack twice, which means you're in double the trouble!"
"Good thing you're so predictable. I activate the trap, Dark Weeds! By sending the card in my hand to the graveyard, I can summon an Evil Thorn from my deck to cause an undesirable mishap in your plan!" Yuri summoned another copy of Evil Thorn from his deck, and it popped right in front of Panther Dancer's attack. After the dust from the battle cleared, Evil Thorn was revealed that it wasn't destroyed. Yuri then revealed another effect. "Even though my monster would've been uprooted, it won't be so. It can't be destroyed until my next turn, so you might as well end your turn. Especially since your Panther Dancer isn't allowed to attack anything else other than this monster this turn!"
Yuri inwardly sighed. "Reckless and easy-to-see-though tactics. Even if she has changed them to incorporate pendulum cards, her overall strategy is still the same. Just like when we were little..." Yuri blinked as a thought came to him.
"Wait. Just like when we were little. Where did that one come from? I haven't known her like that that far back, do I?"
As Yuri covered his face in confusion, Celina continued her turn, smiling smugly. "I had a feeling you might do that! That's why Yellow Mole can inflict damage equal to Panther Dancer's level times 100 because your monster was in Defense Mode!"
The spirit of Yellow Mole appeared and became yellow light that enter Panther Dancer. The Lunalight fusion monster then unleashed a red blast from her claws with a swipe at Yuri, inflicting 800 points of damage. Yuri flinched at the shockwave, nearly kneeling from the unexpected effect.
YURI LP: 1700 = 900
"Don't underestimate me! I know your dueling style, so I was prepared. You use your words and put on acts to lure others into a false sense of security. But that won't work on me. Sorry, not sorry." Celina sarcastically apologized to her opponent. "Really? He constantly taunts everyone and plays mind games with them so frequently that it's obvious on what his game plan is. His pernicious cunningness with taunting hasn't really changed... at... all?"
Celina stopped her train of thought as the thought crossed her mind. "Why do I keep talking about him like I've known him longer than I have? Longer than when I met him in the Synchro Dimension?"
"I place one card facedown... and end my turn." Celina played her turn's final move as she refocused and berated herself. " Focus, Celina! You can question those thoughts later. If you lose this duel, you'll be taken back to Duel Academy and who knows what the Professor has in store."
"I take it back. You have changed. You're a much duelist better than Lulu, Rin, and Zuzu were. They couldn't damage me this much." Yuri genuinely praised the indigo-haired girl.
"That means that I'm going to have to be a little more serious. I... draw! Since it has served its purpose, I tribute my Evil Thorn... to summon Predaplant Drosophyllum Hydra(ATK: 800/DEF: 2300/LV: 5)!" Yuri normal summoned his mix of a drosophyllum plant and a hydra in Defense Mode.
"And next I activate Drosophyllum Hydra's special ability. By banishing a Predaplant in my graveyard, your Panther Dancer says bye-bye to 500 of her attack points." Yuri banished Chlamydosundew and Panther Dancer lost 500 of her attack points.
Lunalight Panther Dancer(ATK: 2800 = 2300/DEF: 2500/LV: 8)
"Boy, your luck has really taken a turn for the worst. How about I fix that by getting rid of your black cat!" Yuri attacked with his Predaplant Chimerafflesia before he began jumping across the floating boards. Celina, knowing that he was now going for Action Cards to tilt the duel in his favor, also began her search for one as well.
Predaplant Chimerafflesia(ATK: 2500 = 3500/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
Lunalight Panther Dancer(ATK: 2300 = 1300/DEF: 2500/LV: 8)
Madame Chaos silently smirked at Celina's assessment. "You catch on quickly, Celina. Now that we are shifting our strategies to include Action Cards, it's going to be a whole new ball game. Or in this case, card game."
She then shifted her thoughts to another matter she had noticed during the duel. "There's no doubt about it. From the way she's acting, there's only one obvious reason. It seems you're now aware of the manipulation to your memories. I wonder... how long before you remember who those children are?" The silver-haired girl smugly chuckled in her mind at the thought.
"I activate the Action Card Flame Chain! Now your monster loses 400 attack points."
Predaplant Chimerafflesia(ATK: 3500 = 3100/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
"I activate the Action Spell High Dive! Now it has 1000 more attack points!"
Predaplant Chimerafflesia(ATK: 3100 = 4100/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
"Too bad. It would seem Lady Luck has favored me instead of you."
Just like Cat Dancer, Chimerafflesia proceeded to gobble up Panther Dancer. In the process, one of the vines hit Celina, causing her to stumble while she crossed the boards.
But before the deed was done, Celina grabbed the last card in her hand. And luckily for her, it was what she needed to continue. "Don't be too sure about that! I won't be taking any damage thanks in part to this! Lunalight Leopard(ATK: 1200/DEF: 1400/LV: 4/PS: 1) negates that damage and not only that, but I also get to place her in my Pendulum Zone!" Celina added the magenta leopard-like Lunalight monster that seemed to be the same age as Lunalight Fox into her empty Pendulum Zone.
"So you're planning to Pendulum Summon when your turn comes? How very interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have planned. So I'll just end my turn." Yuri ended his turn with expectation in his eyes, eyes demanding that Celina quickly show him what was coming next.
Predaplant Chimerafflesia(ATK: 4100 = 2500/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
"He hasn't busted out his dragon and I've already damaged him this much. If he does summon it, I'm done for. Starving Venom Fusion Dragon can steal my monsters' special abilities and add their attack points to its own and finish me off in one fell swoop. So I need to take him down before that happens, and that means I have to destroy all of his life points this turn! But I don't think Leo Dancer will be enough to cut it!" Celina began her turn, drawing a card. She looked at it with a difficult expression.
"Looks like I'll have to bet on this." Celina then played the spell card she had just acquired. "I play Pot of Greed! Now I can draw two new cards!" Seeing the two of them, Celina raised her right hand to the Pendulum Scale she had set, wasting no time in summoning them. "With my Scale 1 Lunalight Leopard and my Scale 10 Lunalight Deer, I'm allowed to summon monsters between levels 2 and 9, all at the same time! So Pendulum Summon... the true and loyal Lunalight Wolf(ATK: 2000/DEF: 1800/LV: 5/PS: 1) and the charming gatherer Lunalight Cyan Hamster(ATK: 100/DEF: 600/LV: 2)!" Celina summoned Lunalight Wolf and a cyan-colored hamster-like Lunalight monster that appeared to be about the same age as Lunalight Green Mantis was.
"When I summon Lunalight Cyan Hamster, I can swap her out for a Lunalight fusion monster in my graveyard! So come on back, Lunalight Panther Dancer!
And now Lunalight Wolf is gonna help too. Especially since summoning her activates her special ability and allows me to get a Fusion card from my deck."
Once she drew the spell card, Celina spent no time in activating it. "I activate Lunalight Fusion! This will allow me to bring out Leo Dancer, even though I only have two monsters on the field. Since you control a fusion monster, I can use a Lunalight in my deck to Fusion Summon. By combing the savagery of a nighttime huntress, the precision of a panther, and the cunning covertness of a stealthy beast, I can create a new lunar legend! I Fusion Summon, the majestic, the mighty, the masterful Lunalight Leo Dancer(ATK: 3500/DEF: 3000/LV: 10)!"
"3500 attack points, so what? I have a card that will turn the tables in my favor in my graveyard." Yuri thought as he looked at his Duel Disk's compartment for the graveyard.
"If you think I'm attacking with Leo Dancer to attack right now, you're mistaken!" Celina told Yuri, as if she read his mind, confusing him.
"By banishing Cyan Hamster, I can resurrect my... Lunalight Cat Dancer! And thanks to my Leopard's Pendulum Ability, I can also get back my Panther Dancer!"
Yuri whistled. "So, you brought all your fusion monsters back. Planning to wage an all-out assault on me with your precious little kitty cats?" Yuri guessed with a hint of teasing as he looked at the three fusion monsters on Celina's side of the field.
Celina smirked. "Looks like Dennis hasn't told you my newest trick." "What?!" For the first time in the duel, Yuri's face showed surprise. "I fuse my three cats together by releasing them at once!
By combining the reflexes of a fierce feline, the precision of a panther, and majesty of a lion, I can create a new lunar legend! I Fusion Summon! The legendary, the powerful, the graceful... Lunalight Liger Dancer(ATK: 3700/DEF: 2900/LV: 12)!"
"A Contact Fusion Summon!?" The two Duel Academy hunters exclaimed in shock.
"That's right! And she's coming right at your Predaplant Chimerafflesia! Go Liger Dancer, attack with Lunar Quartet!"
Lunalight Liger Dancer lunged at Predaplant Chimerafflesia, raising both of her claws and her sword as the indigo energy forms of the monsters that were used to summon her appeared and surrounded her weapons.
"This is it! Especially since Liger gains attack points equal to your life points!" Celina revealed, pointing at the dumbstruck Yuri.
Lunalight Liger Dancer(ATK: 3700 = 4600/DEF: 2900/LV: 12)
"It's game over for you!" Celina exclaimed as Liger Dancer destroyed Chimerafflesia, and in the process, avenging Cat Dancer and Panther Dancer who were eaten by it in the previous turns.
Celina was expecting to see Yuri lying on the ground from the attack as the big smoke from Chimerafflesia's destruction was clearing. But instead, she was shocked to see that he was still standing, life points intact.
"But how did -?" Celina then saw an Action Card beside Yuri. "That's... Curtain Clap!? Yuri must've chosen the effect that zeros out the battle damage!" Celina clicked her tongue. "I can't believe he was able to get an Action Card before the attack finished him."
"I end my turn." Celina reluctantly said.
Lunalight Liger Dancer(ATK: 4600 = 3700/DEF: 2900/LV: 12)
Yuri remained silent all of a sudden and it continued for a few long seconds. He then unexpectedly started to lightly chuckle before it turned into a full-blown laugh. When he finally looked at Celina, his eyes slitted like a serpent's would, sending shivers down her spine.
"Hahaha! Now this is something! How long has it been since I was surprised like this!? You were right! You're on a completely different level than your pathetic doubles! I'm enjoying every single moment of this!" Yuri licked his lips as his sadism rose.
"And don't forget, when Predaplant Chimerafflesia leaves the field after a battle, I get to add Polymerization to my hand!"
"It's my turn now! I draw!" Looking at the card that he drew just now, Yuri now had a look that said it was all but certain that he would win this duel.
"Prepare yourself, Celina."
Shelter - Heartland City - Xyz Dimension
At the same time that Yuri made his warning, Yuya's eyes snapped wide open as he woke up. He abruptly sat up in the bed he was occupying. Bullets were sweating down his face as he breathed hard, clutching his chest. It was if Yuya had just woken up from a horrible nightmare.
Yuya then noticed that his deck was glowing. Not much to his surprise, his Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Yuto's Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon were the reasons there was light coming from his deck. And in another part of the shelter, Yugo's Clear Wing Synchro Dragon glowed.
Both Yuya and Yugo felt that familiar sinister sense of pitch-black dreadful darkness entangled them again. The feeling that the three male doppelgängers had was one that screamed that they needed to move.
Yuya knew what it meant. "The last time I felt this horrible feeling was when... Yuri was around! And if he really is in this dimension now..." "Celina's in danger!"
Ruins of Heartland City - Xyz Dimension
"I summon... Predaplant Teraplant(ATK: 1400/DEF: 1200/LV: 4)." Yuri summoned a carnivorous plant-like monster that appeared to be a mix of various types of plants.
"And its special ability allows me to bring Chimerafflesia back from the graveyard. But don't worry, it won't be around for long. Not after I use Polymerization to fuse it and Teraplant together in order to bring out the most toxic monster ever seen! I Fusion Summon... the ever-hungering, Starving Venom Fusion Dragon(ATK: 2800/DEF: 2000/LV: 8)!"
"This just a whole lot more complicated." Celina grumbled to herself.
"And you remember what happens when Starving Venom Fusion Dragon is summoned, don't you? It gains your monster's attack points!"
Starving Venom Fusion Dragon(ATK: 2800 = 6500/DEF: 2000/LV: 8)
"Great. Just great."
"And that's not the end of your troubles! Starving Venom Fusion Dragon also takes your Liger Dancer's special ability for itself. Which means now, when it attacks, the total of your life points will be added to my dragon's attack points!"
"Say what now?!" Celina exclaimed in utter horrified surprise.
"So, without further ado, my Starving Venom will now have its midnight snack. And what's on the menu? Your Lunalight Liger Dancer!" Yuri declaring his attack prompted Starving Venom to ready its attack. The roots that were used to launch its green blast formed by its side and started charging the blast.
Starving Venom Fusion Dragon(ATK: 6500 = 8400/DEF: 2000/LV: 8)
Celina jumped to a nearby floating board, grabbing an Action Card. " I activate the Action Spell Big Escape! Which means you can't attack me this turn!"
"How predictable. And I have just the counter for that. By simply banishing my trap, Predalure, from my graveyard, your Action Card is rendered useless!"
Celina quickly grabbed onto another floating board and used it to swing herself to another board that had an Action Card lying on it. "In that case, I activate the Action Spell Double Attack! Now my Liger Dancer's twice as strong!"
Lunalight Liger Dancer(ATK: 3700 = 7400/DEF: 2900/LV: 12)
Yuri quickly jumped over and retrieved another Action Card. "Well then, I guess you'll only take a 1000 points of damage. But my dragon is still stronger than your kitty, so that means she goes bye-bye!"
Without any cards in her hand, Celina had to find another Action Card. But the only one in sight was in-between Starving Venom and Liger Dancer. Steeling herself, Celina jumped at Liger Dancer, who seemed to understand what she was attempting to do. The Lunalight fusion monster caught her and brought her over to the Action Card. Even as Starving Venom Fusion Dragon's attack closed in.
A thick dust cloud covered Liger Dancer and Celina as the attack created an explosion. Yuri and Madame Chaos were stunned to say the least of Celina's gutsy move. "What was she thinking?! That move was incredibly risky and dangerous, even for her!"
The smoke dissipated, and Celina was revealed to have been injured, but she had an Action Card by her side. She was being held by Liger Dancer while her right hand was on her Duel Disk.
"The Action Spell Choice Choice. I was allowed... to choose to save my monster or... cut the damage I take in half. So I chose to save my Liger!"
CELINA LP: 1900 = 900
"My, my. I have to admit that you're persistent. How much are your tenacious ways going to get you?" Yuri was having a cold smile on the surface, but inside he was astonished by Celina's determination. She was unlike any opponent that he had fought previously.
Relying on Liger Dancer to help her stand up again, holding onto her claw as she got over the pain, Celina simply answered, "Enough to send you packing."
Yuri's smile widened. "Then let's not keep me waiting. Show us what you got."
Starving Venom Fusion Dragon(ATK: 8400 = 2800/DEF: 2000/LV: 8)
"You better be ready. Here we go, I draw!" Celina saw that the card she drew was Smile Universe. The tactic that she used against Dennis flashed through her mind, but there was one problem. She didn't have Fairy Dusk, which left her in a predicament. But then remembered something...
"I activate Lunalight Leopard's Pendulum Ability! By returning Lunalight Blue Cat and Purple Butterfly from my graveyard to my deck, I get to draw a card. Here goes everything."
Celina drew the card, eyes closed. "If it isn't Fairy Dusk, then it may be my loss and cost me my freedom." Turning the card over so she could see it, she formed a grin on her face. "Yes!"
"I activate the spell... Smile Universe!" As Celina activated the card, the area became filled with star, flower, and round smile icon shapes appeared. However, unlike Smile World which had them float around aimlessly, they formed into a pillar and turned the surroundings into a space filled with galaxies and planets that had smile icons on them.
Yuri and Madame Chaos were stunned when the spell was activated. Even though they had not seen the card before, as far as anyone knew, they acted like they had just seen a ghost of the past appeared before them. "She had that card after all this time?" Madame Chaos silently exclaimed in surprise.
"This spell allows me to resummon my monsters from my Extra Deck and graveyard, but with one drawback. They lose all their special abilities, and no one can attack." Celina summoned Lunalight Green Mantis, Yellow Mole, Cat Dancer, Panther Dancer, and Leo Dancer from her graveyard.
"Plus, you gain life points equal to the attack points of the monsters I summoned using this card's effect." Yuri was surprised by the fact that Celina would give him life points, until he understood what she was doing.
YURI LP: 900 = 11500
"And the more life points I have, the stronger your Liger Dancer becomes, right? But since neither of us can attack, it's a wasted effort."
Celina then showed Fairy Dusk in her hand. "Not really. Especially since I have this! With Fairy Dusk, my monsters are unaffected by card effects!"
"What?!" Yuri exclaimed.
"That means that my Liger Dancer can attack and win this duel! Lunalight Liger Dancer, attack Starving Venom Fusion Dragon with Lunar Quartet!"
Lunalight Liger Dancer(ATK: 3700 = 15200/DEF: 2900/LV: 12)
Lunalight Liger Dancer lunged at Starving Venom Fusion Dragon as she made graceful movements as if she was dancing while swinging her sword at the dragon who blocked the attacks with its claws and tail. However, the second Liger Dancer's claw met Starving Venom's claw, Celina's bracelet shined so brightly that the entire area was enveloped with a bright, bluish light. Just like what happened in the Synchro Dimension. As the light continued to get brighter, Yuri and Celina fell to their knees while holding their heads and groaning in pain due to us severe headache that attacked both of them, at the same time.
"Not again! Why now?!" Celina furiously thought as flashes of images start to flow into her head again.
But these images weren't the ones she saw in the Synchro Dimension, these were different.
They showed her point of view as a child, when she was about perhaps around 10 years old. She was walking down a hallway in Duel Academy when she heard an unfamiliar, yet somewhat memorable, voice. When she looked into the room from where it was coming from, she saw a man talking with two children, a boy and a girl. The children were the ones that she saw from her vision when she remembered her promise. The man was a bald old man with a united mustache and goatee, wearing a dark red Duel Academy uniform with a yellow suit underneath and dark brown pants. However, the man's eyes were overshadowed, so she couldn't see what he fully looked like. Trying to get a closer look from the opened door, Celina accidentally tripped and fell flat on her face, revealing her presence.
"Oh, Celina. Is there a problem?" The man asked.
"N-no. Not at all, sir. I was just passing by." Celina replied as she rubbed her reddened nose, which she had landed upon. She glanced at the two children standing behind the man. Noticing who she was looking at, the man stepped aside so she could better see them.
"Celina, these two twins will be moving into the same class as you are in, starting tomorrow. Meet Yuri and Yume. I hope you'll become great friends."
"Nice to meet you, Celina." The girl greeted. "I'm Yume." "And I am Yuri." The boy clarified as he introduced himself. The overshadowing of their eyes cleared up as they introduced themselves, revealing the same eyes and eyebrows that the Yuri she knew had and Yume's golden eyes and thin grey eyelashes. They both wore a childish, sincere smile, which was different than the one Yuri flashed now.
Celina's eyes widened as she gasped as the flashbacks started to become distorted. But they were the least of her concerns right now. She was stunned at that the realization that the boy that she knew back in her childhood was the opponent she was facing off against right now.
"No way..." Celina uttered in disbelief. "The boy I've been seeing in my memories... is Yuri?! But he is so different now. Is the Professor behind this as well?!"
Meanwhile, as Celina continued to have her revelation, Yuri was also experiencing a vision. But unlike Celina's, it wasn't about their childhood. It was about the girl that Yugo and Yuya had been seeing in their dreams lately. The female's face was overshadowed, and any mention of her name was muted. The scene was a destroyed city in a similar, if not possibly even worse, state than Heartland was reduced to. The girl, appearing to be in her teens, was standing on top of a tower with four cards in the air surrounding her. They were lit up so brightly that they were impossible to recognize and read. But then a light was emitted from the woman, causing immense pain to ripple through his body. It was a sensation that came off as if he was being ripped apart from the inside.
"Stop it. Stop it now! Or you will suffer the consequences!"
Yuri snapped his eyes open and bit his own lip to focus his mind on the duel at hand. A black aura started to appear from Yuri's entire body as his eyes glowed pinkish-purple and a black silhouette of a dragon briefly covered his form. Enduring the headache, Yuri pressed a card on his Duel Disk screen.
"I play... Predaplant Teraplant's ability! I banish it from my graveyard, so that your Liger Dancer loses attack points equal to the attack points of every single one of my Predaplants that are resting there!"
"W-what?!" Celina yelled in surprise between her headaches. The spirits of the Predaplants that Yuri had in his graveyard appeared and turned into purple energy that struck Liger Dancer and lowered her attack points. Despite the loss of her attack, Lunalight Liger Dancer pushed against the energy surge and dissipated it with a cross strike of her weapons, before continuing to charge at Starving Venom Fusion Dragon.
Lunalight Liger Dancer(ATK: 15200 = 9000/DEF: 2900/LV: 12)
Liger Dancer's sword pierced Starving Venom's skin, causing it to crack until it exploded. But because of Smile Universe's effect, Yuri still had enough life points to survive.
YURI LP: 11500 = 5300
"And you know what happens, right? You now take damage equal to Liger Dancer's attack points as she's destroyed!"
Yuya arrived just as the purple swamp appeared and purplish water came out like a pole to strike Celina's only monster from Yuri's field. Yuya watched in horror as the attack approached Liger Dancer and headed straight towards Celina, who kneeled helplessly and could only watch.
"Celina!" Yuya yelled out in a panic. Unfortunately for him, it was too late for him to intrude on the duel.
The attack consumed Liger Dancer, even as she tried to block it with her sword and claws. But the attack destroyed her, and the explosion created a shockwave that blew Celina several feet away as she screamed.
CELINA LP: 900 = 0
Yuri's eyes returned to normal, and the black aura dissipated from his body. As he walked over to Celina, he acted as if nothing had happened. Madame Chaos also joined him as he approached the injured Celina. The indigo-haired girl tried to move but couldn't as Yuri got his Duel Disk ready for teleportation.
"Time to go home." Madame Chaos said with a foreboding tone. Yuri flashed his usual smile as his finger approached the teleportation button.
"I don't think so!"
Yuya took the two Duel Academy affiliated duelists by surprise by suddenly jumping onto Yuri and grabbing him by the arm that wore the Duel Disk. The two boys with the same face struggled fiercely as Yuri tried to push Yuya away from him while Yuya tried to keep the Duel Disk out of Yuri's reach.
Overcoming her surprise, Madame Chaos declared, "Fine! I don't mind taking an extra prisoner of war with us!" With that, she activated her interdimensional transport function on her Duel Disk. As it was activated, she grabbed Celina by her wrist and dragged her over to the two struggling boys.
Since there was no one around, there wasn't anyone to notice what had happened. Soon, the four youths who were in the area were gone without a trace.
