Chapter 40: The New Republic
It was several days later.
Barriss had been given a funeral to honor her sacrifice.
And the galaxy was in a state of anticipation!
The rest of the Imperial army fled from the planet.
Sam and the rebels had called every Senator to Coruscant.
It was time to reform the Republic, at long last.
They were all in the Senate building.
Ezra asked, "now what happens?"
Kanan asked, "who will lead the Republic?"
Sam said, "this new Republic will be governed together by the Senators of every planet. Oola, Organa and Glimmer are already on board."
Chuchi asked, "who will be the new Chancellor?"
Mothma asked, "and how will we make sure that someone from the empire doesn't try to infiltrate the Senate or the Republic?"
Hordak said, "has anyone considered that having one person in charge of the entire government may be the problem?"
Sam said, "but we need someone to unite all of the Senators under the banner of the new republic."
"We already have most of the Senate on our side", Adora said.
"Hopefully we can convince the others to join the Republic", Obi Wan said.
Bail asked, "what about Darth Vader and the rest of the Imperial's?"
Hordak said, "their influence over the galaxy grows less and less as more systems stand up to them. Vader has to pick his battles wisely."
Sam said, "and the people need to know about Luke and Leia."
Aayla asked, "are you sure that's wise?"
"I'm not sure how the galaxy will react to them learning that Luke and Leia are the children of Darth Vader", Ashla said.
Prime said, "it may be wise to get the secret out now, then keeping it under wraps for longer."
"We agree with them", Luke said as he and Leia stood next to Adora.
"Also, if at any time someone from the Empire tries to infiltrate the Republic, we will be able to sense them", Luminara said.
"We will also reveal the truth of Darth Vader having once been Anakin Skywalker", Sam said with a sad tone.
Hordak rubbed Sam's shoulder as he said, "we best tell the new Republic everything."
Glimmer asked, "well, is everyone ready?"
The others nodded as Sam replied, "it's time we address the new republic, and what's gonna happen in the near future."
The rest of the galaxy was waiting for the news….
Then throughout the galaxy a live hologram was playing.
It was Sam, standing with his friends and family behind him.
He said, "greetings. To you all. My name is Sam Skywalker. Son of Shmi Skywalker, and Jedi Knight. As most of you know, for nearly 15 years, the Empire has controlled the galaxy with an iron grip. But it was a mere week ago that we finally managed to free that grip."
Ahsoka and Leon then walked forward.
Leon said, "the man known as Palpatine planned his Empire from the very beginning. Controlling both sides of the Clone Wars so he could seize power."
Ahsoka said, "and his apprentice took control when he passed. Anakin Skywalker. Or as most of the galaxy knows him; Darth Vader."
The citizens of Coruscant gasped.
Obi Wan then walked forward.
He said, "and because of them, the Jedi were made the enemy, and those who survived the great purge, were forced to go into hiding. And Anakin's brother was given the greatest of responsibilities."
Luke and Leia walked forward.
Obi Wan said, "protecting his niece and nephew. Luke and Leia Skywalker."
"Does that mean they are?"
"The children of Vader?"
Sam and Hordak along with Adora and the twins walked forward.
Sam said, "they are Luke and Leia Skywalker. Not Vader. Skywalker."
Hordak, "even if I have only known them for about a year, I have grown to love them as if they were my own children."
Sam added, "as have I."
"I may not be their biological mother, but "I've grown to love them as if they were my own children", Adora said with a smile towards the twins.
Catra said, "so don't judge them for the actions of their father. They worked hard to help us put an end to his reign of terror."
"What they say is true", Leia said as she and her brother walked forward.
Luke added, "we only wish to undo the atrocities our father has committed against the galaxy."
Sam stood right beside them as he said, "and thus, we hope to form a new republic, and to leave the Empire behind."
Hordak said, "a Chancellor will soon be voted upon, as a Senator from every planet in the new Republic will meet together."
Aayla said as she walked forward with Bly at her side and a few other Clones, "now you all may be asking…. How can we make sure we won't repeat the same mistakes like we did in the clone wars?"
Luminara stepped forward and said, "for one, the Senate will be carefully hand picked, so we will not see any corruption in politics."
Shaak Ti said, "the Jedi will help play a part now, so we can always find the best outcome."
Okay.
"And we will be rebuilding the temples throughout the galaxy", Plo Koon said.
Kit Fisto said, "and as of now, the Jedi code will begin to go through changes. Namely, younglings who are to be trained will be able to see their family."
Yoda said, "and to form attachments, they are allowed. Forbidding attachments, caused many problems, it did."
"The Jedi can now have relationships and will be allowed to get married", Ahsoka said with a smile as she held Leon's hand.
Leon smiled at his wife as he said, "and there will be studies of the dark side, so we can teach the new generation about what to avoid when using the force."
Glimmer and Bow walked forward.
Glimmer said, "and with that, let me introduce ourselves. I am Glimmer. Heir to the throne of Bright Moon, and Senator for Planet Etheria."
Bow said, "with Etheria back in this galaxy, we will be joining the new Republic."
The rest of the Princesses walked forward.
Perfuma said, "and all of us…."
Scorpia said, "and we mean all of us…."
Mermista said, "will protect the new Republic."
Spinerrella said, "together."
Netossa said, "all for one…."
Catra said, "... and one for all."
Entrapta said, "and believe us when we tell you….
Catra said, "... you have our word."
Adora said, "the new Republic will be safe from Vader and his Empire!"
Adora then walked forward and held out her hand and the sword appeared.
"For the Honor of the…. Jedi Order", Adora shouted as she transformed into She-Ra.
She exclaimed, "I am She-Ra. Wielder of the sword of protection. Ally of the Jedi Order. And I shall protect the new Republic with my life."
Then the flag of the Empire was pulled down and it's place…. The flag of the New Republic was raised.
Throughout the Galaxy, people were starting to cheer.
Finally, the galaxy could unite against the remains of the tyrannical government that had all but conquered them.
Sam and the rest of the Jedi, Rebels and Senators smiled.
"Well it's time to start replacing all the Empire symbols with the New Republic logo", Bail said with a soft smile.
Oola said, "I'm eager to see how people will celebrate their newfound freedom. Lord knows how the celebrations on Ryloth will go."
"We have to focus on capturing the rest of the Imperial fleet and Vader himself", Sam said.
Hordak said, "and we will. Once the new Republic is fully developed, we will be holding a search through the entire galaxy for him."
"And we have to make sure they don't try to capture planets for themselves", Obi Wan said.
"We won't let that happen", Entrapta said.
"Well, let's head back to the temple, we need to start rebuilding it", Luminara said with a smile.
Sam chuckled and said, "man, I haven't cleaned my room for 15 years. That's gonna be a lot of dust."
Hamill started chuckling at the joke.
….
1 hour later.
Sam along with the twins were in the courtyard of the Jedi temple as he stared at the grand tree.
She-Ra was able to use her magic to restore the tree and it also purged the Sith Temple that was underneath the Jedi Temple.
Luke asked, "so, what's the surprise you have for us Uncle Sam?"
"Hordak will be here with them", Sam said as he smiled.
Luke and Leia gave excited looks, wondering just what this surprise could be?
"I'm here", Hordak called out.
Luke and Leia turned around to see their Uncle Hordak.
And walking right beside him was Rey, holding Grogu in a little baby sling on her chest.
Leia asked, "who are they, Uncle's?"
Sam smiled as he walked over to Hordak.
Sam said, "Luke, Leia, meet Rey and Grogu."
"We adopted them", Hordak said with a smile.
Rey walked over to the twins and had a shy look on her face.
"Hi", Rey said, feeling shy.
"Um, hello", Luke said.
"Hi there", Leia said.
That's when Grogu started reaching for them.
"My little brother wants you to hold him", Rey giggled.
Leia held Grogu in her arms as he cooed softly.
"Awwww! You are the cutest thing I have ever seen", Leia said with a giggle.
Luke chuckled as Grogu giggled and reached for the buns Leia had her hair in.
"Wait, it took me almost an hour to get my hair into these buns", Leia giggled.
"Nice to meet you Rey, I'm Luke Skywalker", Luke said.
Rey said, "it is an honor to meet you. Dad and PaPa have flaked about you a lot."
Leia asked, "dad?"
Luke asked, "PaPa?"
"Papa is what Rey calls me", Hordak explained.
"Dad is what Rey calls me", Sam said with a blush on his face.
Rey said, "they've been looking after me after I lost my parents. After a few weeks…. I see them as my own family."
"Also, we rescued Grogu from a few raiders", Sam said with a smile.
"Welcome to the family", Leia said as she hugged Rey.
Luke hugged Rey as well along with Grogu.
Rey felt tears of joy in her eyes as she whispered, "this is the best day of my life."
Sam and Hordak joined in on the hug.
Grogu giggled.
It was truly a precious moment to the family.
Things had finally begun to change for the better.
"We also have something else to share with you", Sam said with a soft smile.
Luke asked, "what is it, Uncle Sam?"
Sam replied, "the Queen of Naboo, as a thanks for freeing her planet from the Empire, has built us a mansion to live in!"
Luke asked, feeling excited, "really!?"
Leia asked with tears in her eyes, "does that mean we get to visit our mother's home planet?"
"Yes", Hordak said with a smile on his face.
"I can't wait to see Naboo", Rey said as she jumped with excitement.
Luke asked, "what about Adora and Catra? Can they move in with us?"
Hordak said, "of course they can. They're family, and family sticks together."
"We can't wait to tell them", Luke said.
Leia asked, "who else will be moving in with us?"
Hordak said, "oh, we should not reveal anything else too soon…. Hmm?"
It's a surprise", Sam said with a smile.
Leia asked softly, "speaking of which, Uncle, when are you and Uncle Hordak going to have your wedding?"
Sam said, "very soon. We'll be having it at the mansion. And we're inviting all of our friends and family to it."
"I can't wait for it", Luke said as he jumped.
Rey asked with a smile on her face, "is there going to be cake?"
Grogu cooed softly.
Hordak said, "oh, cake as far as the eye can see!"
All three kids imagined an entire mansion filled with various types of cake.
Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, carrot, red velvet, cheese, Jogan Fruit, cookie, ice cream, Angel food, devils food, CAKE AS FAR AS THE EYE COULD SEE!
Sam and Hordak chuckled at the kids.
"Ooh you all look so adorable", Sam squealed.
Luke simply muttered, "caaaaaaaaaaaaake."
Sam giggled as he and Hordak hugged their children close to them.
Things were only going to get better for the family.
Hamill then came running.
Hordak asked, "what is it, Hamill?"
Hamill beeped as he jumped onto Sam's shoulder.
Sam asked, "the Jedi want to see us?"
Hamill nodded as Sam said, "well, it's best not to keep them waiting."
Hordak picked up Rey.
"Papa…. I can walk", Rey said, a bit shy.
Hordak said, "I know you can. I just love carrying my little angel around before she gets too big to lift."
Rey smiled as she hugged Hordak.
"I love you papa", Rey said with a smile.
Hordak said, "I love you too, my little angel."
The Skywalker Family then made it to the council room.
Shaak Ti stood there with a happy smile on her face.
"Sam 15 years ago…. I was going to tell you something important…. But then Order 66 happened and I didn't have the chance….", Shaak Ti said with a sad smile.
Sam asked, "what is it, master?"
Shaak Ti smiled and said, "you deserve this honor, my old friend."
The doors opened up, and Sam saw all the Jedi standing there with their lightsabers activated.
Sam knew what this meant!
Rey asked, "what's going on Dad?"
Sam said, "the highest honor a Jedi Knight can receive. The rank of Master."
Luke and Leia gasped in joy.
"We're glad you brought Hordak as well", Obi Wan said.
Luke asked, "why's that?"
Plo Koon said, "because we have decided to give him the title of Jedi Knight."
Kit Fisto said, "as well as reinstating Leon and Ahsoka as Jedi."
"But as Jedi Masters", Luminara said with a smile.
Hordak looked shocked and then he smiled.
Aayla said, "now please step forward, Sam and Hordak Skywalker."
Hordak set Rey next to Luke and Leia as the kids watched their uncle's step forward and kneel before Master Yoda, with Leon and Ahsoka joining them.
The rest of the Jedi surrounded them.
Yoda lifted his lightsaber.
He moved the saber to their shoulders as he said, "by the right of the council. By the will of the force. Dub thee I do; Master's and Knight of the New Republic."
Shaak Ti, Obi Wan and Plo Koon walked forward.
As Sam and the others stood up, Shaak Ti said, "we're so proud of you. All of you."
Sam hugged Shaak Ti.
Shaak Ti returned the hug with a smile.
Obi Wan looked at Leon and said, "and I'm proud of you, my old friend. I think even Dooku would have been proud of how far you've come."
Leon smiled.
"I'm proud of you little Soka", Plo Koon said.
Ahsoka hugged Plo Koon.
Hordak looked at the various Jedi in the room and said, "it is an honor to join this order, in this new chapter of the galaxy's history."
"After everything you have done to help us, you deserve the rank of Jedi Knight", Aayla said with a smile.
"We would like to know more about how you and Sam are a Dyad in the force", Plo Koon asked.
Hordak answered, "well, it was after the Horde had captured Sam. We began to slowly spend time together, almost every day, up until the day we confessed our feelings. I think it was our first night together; we became a Dyad."
"Impressive", Luminara said with a soft smile.
"Now alongside She-Ra, we are going to help bring peace to the galaxy and balance to the force", Sam said.
Shaak Ti said, "I'm sure you will. Once Vader and the remains of his Empire are taken care of, the galaxy can finally rest easy and truly start anew."
"We also wanted to ask you something as well", Sam asked.
Hordak asked softly, "could Luke, Leia, Rey and Grogu be trained by us?"
Yoda said, "of course. Your family, they are. Trained by you, they should be."
Rey asked with a smile on her face, "really? Me and Grogu get to be Jedi?"
Kit Fisto said, "you're very strong in the force. Both of you. The Jedi order would be proud to have you in it."
Rey ran over to hug Sam.
Grogu reached his arms towards Hordak.
Leia chuckled as she handed Grogu to Hordak.
"Thank you so much dad, papa", Rey said with a few tears in her eyes.
Sam said, "hey, you're a part of this family. And we stick together no matter what, okay? And besides, I always wanted a padawan."
Grogu giggled as Hordak tickled his stomach.
Luke and Leia laughed at the display.

On Kamino
Catra and Adora stood by a kaminoan scientist.
Adora asked, "will they be ready by the time the wedding arrives?"
Yes…. I just need to make sure there are no mutations or defects in his DNA…. So the child may age normal", Kamionan scientist said as he checked his datapad.
"That's great", Catra said with a smile.
Adora asked, "how do they look?"
The scientist replied, "see for yourself."
Adora and Catra then walked towards the cloning tank and they gasped softly and in shock at what they saw.
Floating in the tank was a baby boy. He had brown hair with streaks of blue in them, and pale skin. He was clutching his little fists as he dreamed.
"Awww", Catra and Adora said at the same time.
"He looks so cute", Adora squealed.
Catra said, "who knew a combo of Sam and Hordak could look that adorable."
"Just wait until they see him", Adora said with a smile.
"Sam is going to be crying tears of joy", Catra said with a soft tone.
It was truly a wonderful gift, that Sam and Hordak would never forget.
