Atlanta Roadside 1865
Strugis stoped the wagon when the soldiers approached them, he glanced over his shoulder at Ms Sarah and her soldier, he knew he had to remain calm. He watched as the man whom looked to be the Officer in Charge dismounted his horse.The officer made his way over to the wagon.
"Sir; it's awful late for you folks to be out?"
"Yes; sir I know you see, Sir we are heading to Doc Boone."
The officer started to move closer to the wagon. Bobbie spoke up then, "Please Sir we have a injured man with us, he's in need of medical help."
"I see; how did this man become injured?" Ms Sarah stood up in the back of the wagon, "Defending me, I'm his wife, he was shot defending me. Please Sir allow us to get help for my husband."
The Officer now walked to the side of the wagon looking inside, his eyes got wide when he saw Lt Rabb laying inside. "You stated that this man is your husband Ma'am?"
"Yes he is."
"Ma'am I was raised not to question a lady, however in this case I must. This man is under my Command. I am his ranking officer, I was not aware that he had married."
Hearing these words struck sudden fear in her, until she heard Harmon udder "wife" Sarah went straight back down to her Harmon. "My darling we are getting you help." She looked up at the Union Officer, "Sir please allow us to pass, he needs aid, surly you can see this."
"Myself and my men will escort you fine folks to the Union Base Field Hospital." The Officer motioned for his men to come forward. Four Union officers on horses came forward. They took position on each side, front and rear of the wagon. The lead officer took off, everyone else followed him.
As they made their way towards the Union Base Field Hospital, Sarah started to panic. She had no idea what would happen once they arrived, what to expect. She now didn't have long to wait, they were now there, Strugis slowed the wagon down and waited while the officers went to retrieve the medical personnel from the hospital tent.
He glanced back at Ms Sarah,fearing for her safety. He knew Mr MacKenzie would kill both of them if anything happened to his daughter. Now a team of Doctors and Nurses approached the wagon, they climbed up in the back pulling out Lt Rabb and forcing Sarah out of their way, they took off with into the Field Hospital. Sarah jumped out and started to run after him. Only to be stoped by a tall officer.
"Ma'am where are you heading?"
"Please Sir; I only wish to accompany my darling husband. Please Sir."
"I am sorry Ma'am; camp rules will not allow a civilian inside the Base Hospital."
"Oh please Sir; will you not make an exception for his wife?"
"Rule are Rules. You may however wait outside." Sarah started to turn away, she stoped when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning she froze in place at the sight of Micheal Brumby.
Next Morning
Harm and Mac's Apartment
North of Union Station
Harm smiled as he watched Mac sleeping soundly, it took her a while to find a comfortable position but once she did; she was out like a light. In fact she was sleeping so peacefully he didn't want to wake her up. So he tried to just wiggle his way out from under her. This now caused her to wake up.
"First your children wake me up, now their father wakes me up. What is with Rabb's and sleep that you all seem to hate?"
"I like sleep"
"Oh really? Cause you've got a hell of a way of showing it." Mac mumbled as she attempted to get comfortable once again. Harm started nibbling on her ear. She swatted at him.
"I don't think so; your flirty manner is how I ended up like this."
"Hey now; I thought we agreed it was a 50/50.." Mac shot him a look. "Never mind! What would you like for breakfast?"
"Bagels,cream cheese, bacon , sausage, oh and a chocolate frappe."
Harms eyes got wide, "You know that means I'm going to have to go out and buy the frappe!"
"Yes! Now hop to it squid, hungry people here." Harm shook his head, as he went about getting dressed. After he'd finished he went back over to the bed, kissed his wife than leaned down and placed a kiss on her exposed abdomen, she watched him walk away smiling to herself on a job well done, she picked up her book and started reading once again.
Union Base Camp
Outside Atlanta Ga, 1865
"Ms MacKenzie what brings you out here this late in the evening?"
Attempting to keep her composure, she took a deep breath readying herself, "My Business is of no concern to you Mr Brumby, however if you must know, we supply eggs from our chickens to the camps near by."
He glanced over towards the wagon looking at Strugis and his wife. " I was under the impression that your father has no use for the Union?"
"My father doesn't ; I however feel that the soldiers no matter what side they are on; still need to have proper nourishment. I do not see this a crime! Do you?"
Forcing a smile; "No Ma'am, if you'd like; I would be happy to escort you home."
"No Sir that will not be necessary; once we have completed our business we will be on our way."
He tipped his hat to Sarah than approached her,he walked over to her ear, "You will come to me tonight and give yourself to me,or I will inform your father of your misdeeds. Do I make myself clear my dear."
Trying not to start shaking, she gathered her strength. "Very clear."
Mr Brumby backed away leaving Sarah standing in place.
Harm and Mac's Apartment
North of Union Station
'Knock Knock' Mac grimaced as she pushed up her very tired body out of the bed. Rubbing her belly as she stood up making her way down the stairs to the front door, "How is it that your absent minded father can never remember his apartment keys, but the man can remember every switch in the cock - pit of a F/14, but when it comes keys those are a different story, maybe if I buy him a TomCat keychain he would..."
Mac suddenly looked shocked as she opened the door to see Mic Brumby on the other side.
