We all have seen Klaus see a shade of him in Marcel's younger self, he saved him and raised him, but he wasn't the first time Klaus adopted someone, the first time was long before and none of his family knew about it.

Year 1392:

Klaus and his family has been running way from Mikael for almost four centuries, they all want to go separate ways so that it would be difficult for Mikael to find them all at once and at the same place. Klaus was not okay with this, not because he didn't want his family to have their own choices but he knew Mikael and Mikael knew him. He knew if Mikael so much as gets his hands on any one of his siblings he would lure him out and he would be forced to follow his will and Klaus was not ready to take this chance, so he did what he had to in order to save his family from falling into Mikael's hands, he daggered them all.

He was a vampire it was easy for him to compel men to carry these coffins carefully and to whatever place he desires. One day he was roaming through the streets of old France when he saw a young boy using charcoal to sketch the face of a lovely woman, soon a man comes and snatches the sketch from his hands throws it down and crushes it with his foot.

The next thing Klaus sees is the man hits the boy hard on his face making him fall to the ground, the boy was at least six or seven years old, the boy gets up and the man pulls his ear and screams, "A man is born to wield the sword not to paint, you don't want to be worthy, come here I will teach you how to be a man."

The man drags the young boy into a tent, Klaus picks up the sketch and sees that the face of the woman was disrupted by mud but the fine lines he drew to describe her hair, her neck were proof of the talent the boy had and that too at such a young age, he hears the boy scream, he looks straight towards the tent, the man abusing him for his art, he is reminded of how Mikael used to abuse him for his, within seconds he tears open the tent and threatens the man, "Leave the boy alone"

"Or Else what" the man says with arrogant attitude, "His mother belongs to me" the man picks a sword and walks towards Klaus, "And I will do whatever I want to do to him" he points the sword at Klaus' heart, "So you get the hell out or else" he pulls the sword back and then pushes it straight into Klaus' heart.

The man is shocked when Klaus not even flinches at it, it is Klaus' turn to smirk now, holding the handle of the same sword he pulls the man out and away from the tent and decapitates him with a swift moment of his hand.

He goes to the tent and crouches down, "You can come out now, he is gone."

The boy walks to him hesitantly, "So tell me what is your good name"

"I am Jeremiah"

"And who was that woman you sketched?"

"I sketched my mother, my father was a wealthy land owner but not two months ago this man murdered him, claimed my father's land to be his and my mother too, he brought me with him here as assurance so that my mother signs my father's land to him."

"Where are you from young man."

The boy gives him the details of his home, Klaus carries him to that place safely and as told by him, his house was surrounded by a few men, who were supposed to be the brothers of the man he just killed, the boy's house was indeed a mansion for the wealthy in that time, unbeknownst to Klaus, Jeremiah's mother spotted him through the window, she jumped to open the door but was blocked by two men.

Jeremiah had already given Klaus the invite to his home, Klaus asks Jeremiah to close his eyes and sing, while he goes and wipes those evil men out, there were four men who were brothers of the man he saved Jeremiah from and they had claimed her land and house to be his and it was the old times, men always listened to men and considered women inferior to them, they were not ready to accept Jeremiah's mother to be the one to give them orders and so they were following the orders of the new people, the usurpers.

Klaus wipes them all out and throws them far away when he brings Jer home, it is only when Jeremaiah runs into his mother's chambers that Klaus is bewildered to see that his mother is a Petrova doppelganger.

(A/N:- To the readers, I know in the show it was, Amara, Tatia, Katherine and Elena but as Qetsiyah told Damon, she had seen many versions of Stefan and Elena find each other and that nature needed to restore balance and so the doppelgangers were born, here Jer's mother is one of the many Petrova doppelgangers that would be here each century)

Klaus was stunned as he saw the young boy jump into his mother's arms, his mind was divided, when he saw the boy, he saw a shadow of his past self and was immediately attached, now that he has learned his mother to be a Petrova doppelganger, his mind is divided, the sudden love and affection that he had felt for the boy and this young woman, the key to break his curse, the one he has been trying to break for centuries.

He takes a few steps back until he stumbles on to something, he puts his hand on the table behind him to steady himself from falling. The sound of him stumbling is what brings the doppelganger's attention to him, obviously Jer has filled her in on how this man saved him from the evil man who was hurting him.

The Petrova doppelganger walks towards him, the cheap dress she was wearing was proof enough that these men had robbed her of her fortune, because the owner of this mansion would obviously be rich enough to afford dresses ten times as costly as this.

She smiles at him and says, "Hi, I am Eve, my son told me you saved him, why don't you stay with us for some time."

Present Day, 2x18

Klaus believes Bonnie died fighting him using magic beyond her limit, he thinks of Elena's brother though, earlier he had plans to kill him but when he saw him, he was taken aback, the boy was the carbon copy of the young boy he had raised all those years ago, he didn't want to believe it, he didn't want to risk it either, so when he went to Elena's home pretending to be Alaric he took a few things of Jeremy and brought it to Maddox to perform a test and he confirmed it that it was indeed his adopted son re-born.

And as for Elena, when he met Eve, his mind was divided whether to kill her or not but in a tragedy Mikael killed them both, burned them alive and made him watch. He had fallen in love with Eve, they lived as a couple for ten long years, he dropped his plan to break the curse with Eve, he fell in love with Eve and eventually told her about his curse. And when he did Eve said,

"It would be my honour to free you of this thing" she kisses his lips while he turns them around and is on top of her and he kisses her lips and says, "Eve, I could never hurt you, and I know you don't want to be like me" kisses her again.

"But I still want you to be free of that curse my love" Eve tells him between their kisses and he breaks the kiss and admires her beauty then tell her, "Fine, so when you're old, when you have lived your life, when you have seen your children, and your grand children, then I will break this curse, but by that time, you will never bring it up, you will never bring my killing you up." He kisses her

Klaus is out of that memory when Maddox shakes him to bring him out of the trance, he tells her, "They're both the one and the same person, these are Eve and Jeremiah reborn"

"I never asked you to perform a test on Elena"

"You always spoke of Eve when you slept so I thought to perform the test myself."

"What is the point Maddox, Elena doesn't remember who she is"

"But I think you should tell her, make her remember" Maddox gives him a potion and says, "I have made this by rare ingredients which my bloodline has collected over the past centuries, a drop of this is enough to make her remember her past life.

Klaus thinks for a moment and then snatches it from Maddox, "Leave me alone" he orders and both Greta and Maddox leave.

In the solitude of his room he thinks, 'I will not lose you this time Eve, I should never have listened to you and should have turned you, this way you would still be here by my side, no, not this time, this time I will give you my blood, because what's the point of honoring your wishes if you're going to age and die and leave me eventually, no, not this time, this time I am determined to have you by my side for the rest of my life, I will turn Jeremiah too, it will be the three of us, no one will be able to break our family, not this time, no.'

Determined to get Elena and Jeremy's memory of the past life back, he walks out of Ric's house, still possessing Alaric's body he is straight heading to the house where she would eventually be, but something happens which even Klaus didn't imagine could ever happen to him, two men in bike go so fast by his side that he doesn't realizes until he checks his pocket again for the serum that he had been robbed.

Year 1392

Eve was thanking him, for saving her son, but Klaus was in a trance, a part of him just wanted to compel her to be a good doppelganger and sacrifice himself to him but the other part was telling him not to rob this boy of his mother, he truly loved her.

Eve shakes him and he is brought out of the trance, "Would you like to stay with us Mr…"

"Klaus" he completes, "I am Niklaus Mikaelson but you can call me Klaus."

"So, Mr Klaus would you like to stay with us for a while"

Klaus thinks, he has his family daggered and located safely in a house to which Mikael cannot enter, he had compelled the folks to stay away and besides that, this house was much bigger and good enough for all of his family to stay, he looks at the woman, after what she went through and how he alone saved her, she looked at him as security, he knew she not only wanted to thank him but also wanted him to stay thinking she, her son and her husband's estate which now belonged to her would be much safe.

Klaus had two options either to prey on her weakness or to end it all at once by compelling Jeremiah to forget his mother, but he had grown fond of the boy in his little trip from the mainland to his estate, he thought what's the hurry and said, "I would love to."

This woman was alone and there was a one hundred percent chance that she would soon ask him to marry her, because that's how it worked in the old times, men married women for wealth, it was not her wealth he was interested in, he was attached to the boy, he wanted to be around him and wanted to be around her too, only so he could break his curse.

"I would love to" he answers, "Then I would make the arrangements" Eve responds.

Full moon came and went a night ago, it was only the matter of one month Klaus thought, and then I would be free of the curse, by that time I could enjoy some French hospitality, he was smirking, thinking he would soon break the curse but what he didn't know was that this woman would be the one to make him feel again, that he would fall madly in love with her and killing her would be beyond his imagination by that time.
