Jeremiah as Jeremy was just about the age when he lost him, ten years of being in a relationship with Eve, ten years of raising Jeremiah with her together, he can't help but remember it whenever he saw him. Klaus sees Jeremy through the window eating dinner with Eve, his Eve, the relationship between Eve and Jeremiah must have changed but the feeling of protecting each other stayed still. He closes his eyes and remembers,
When Klaus was walking Jeremiah home, away from all those barbaric people, Jeremiah saw a few things a kid shouldn't see, an old man beating his wife, two men fighting each other over a glass of wine, a corrupt soldier robbing people, all these things were nothing to Klaus as he has seen all this and much worse over the years but for the young child, these were some disturbing scenes he couldn't get his mind off of.
Klaus notices as every scene of violence was making an impact on the young child' mind, he crouches down to the boy and says, "Hey do you want to have some fun, I will take you to a place which is for kids like you, not for barbarians like them."
The kid was already too disturbed by what he saw to form words to answer the man who just rescued him, seeing the confusion on his face Klaus just smiles and lifts the boy up and vamps away to a toy vendor.
The speeding was something new and the boy liked it, he was not interested in toys he was delighted by the speed with which Klaus moved him, "more, more" says the boy delighted tapping his shoulders.
Klaus liked how the young boy's mind was off of those shitty things, he has had his childhood ruined by Mikael and there was no way he was going to ruin his. There was one fault though, when he sped him here, the boy's shoes fell somewhere on the way but that was of no worry to Klaus, because he could compel anyone to make new ones for the boy.
He settles the boy in a stool and asks him chose any toy he likes, as the boy sits a cat passes by, it's tail strokes Jeremiah's foot sending sensation across his body, it doesn't go unnoticed by Klaus he realizes the boy is ticklish.
"You like this, you will like this more" he says as he starts to tickle the young boy, in his foot, around his neck, his underarms his stomach, the boy was laughing at even the near touch of Klaus now, all that worry seemed to have left him, all his focus was on Klaus' fingers where they were moving.
This felt good both to him and to Klaus to take their minds off of the violent scenes they had just witnessed.
Soon after buying the toys, getting new slippers, Jeremiah and Klaus are on their way to the former's house, while walking Klaus feels hungry he asks Jeremiah to wait for him, Klaus vamps away to have his fill for the day but when he return he sees Jeremiah another horrible scene, a public execution.
"Okay enough I am done with this, I will not let that thing happen to this young boy's mind which happened to me because of Mikael"
He had no idea why but he felt this need to protect this kid, to protect him from ever thing that he had ever endured be it physical or mental or emotional. Klaus takes young Jeremiah to a house, compels the lady of the house to invite him in, let them stay for the day and they would leave at night.
After witnessing all this Jeremiah was quiet, no laugh, no amusement, Klaus leaves charcoal and paper near him and goes for a while but when he returns the page is blank, the kid hasn't played with the toys yet, using his vampire capabilities he enters his head and sees as the boy plays those scenes of violence again and again in his head worrying about his mother that would those evil men be doing the same to her as he saw that bad man beat his wife and numerous thoughts, worrying thoughts occupying his mind.
Klaus's effort to get the boy new toys diverted his attention but only for a while he could never forget how Mikael's abuse is still fresh in his head, he remembers Mikael killing that werewolf right in front of him while he was still a kid and no way does he want that fate to befall another much less this new boy he has grown fond of.
Jeremiah was glum he hadn't even touched the food, the toys that Klaus had bought for the kids were just lying around, the kid had lost interest in them and why wouldn't he, he was with a monster for a while, and most of all he was still a kid.
Klaus thinks to put these things out of his mind, he asks Jeremiah to sleep and that the next day he would take him to his mother. The boy lays on the bed and as expected, he just kept turning around for a while but couldn't sleep.
Klaus goes to the boy and compels him, "You will forget all the disturbing scenes you have witnessed, you will forget what it was like to see the execution, all you will remember is the fun we had and that I am going to take you safely to your mother."
When the compulsion sets the boy could finally sleep, Klaus felt relieved, he made sure that the young boy feels no traumatic memories of such things that would alter his personality, the person he is supposed to be in the future.
Present.
Klaus was robbed of that serum that Maddox gave but he had to get his family back, he waited for Jeremy to walk out of the house and when he did he kept a hand on his shoulder, the edge if his fingers make contact with his neck, Jeremy turns, a sudden flash of memory comes in his mind as he says, "Nik".
Hopes rise up for Klaus thinking he remembered, but what actually happened was that when he was robbed a drop of that serum fell in his fingers and when he tickled Jeremy, that was it, that was what brought a flash of that memory to Jeremy.
"Oh my God Nik, I remember, I remember everything, I remember you raising me, these tickles you did to me very often to get my mind off of things you thought not meant for kids like me"
"Jer relax, I had enough serum to bring Eve's memories back too but I was robbed of it on the way."
"Wait, Elena is Eve, you mean my mother from past life, how do you know it's not Katherine"
"I know because I ran some tests, come with me Jeremy there is a lot I need to discuss with you."
Sending a text to Jenna that he will be sleeping at Matt's place Jeremy leaves with AlaricKlaus. Jeremy stays at Alaric's place when Greta and Maddox were chanting to put Klaus back in his body, they were chanting and then they sat on their knees to welcome their master.
Klaus steps out of the coffin and smirks as he is finally back in his original form, Alaric is conscious only for a moment he sees Katherine and says, "Elena, Jeremy" before he faints.
Obviously Klaus compels Alaric to tell Elena that the sacrifice happens tonight or else she loses her brother. That is only as much as Klaus wants Alaric to know.
After Alaric left Klaus discusses his plans with Jeremy, "Jer, the last time, everything went tragic and I don't want anything to come to pull us apart, I want us all to be a family again."
"And you want to do that by killing my sister" Jeremy asks, "I know that you loved her in her past life and the thought of killing her would have shaken you to the core, but given the fact that she is reborn does that fact change your love for her now."
Klaus sits next to Jeremy and puts a hand on his shoulder, "Jer the last time, your mother wanted me to break the curse using her and I told her that once she has lived her life, she has seen her children and grandchildren, I would do the sacrifice, she agreed for it willingly, but now I just realized that even if I let age and wait, she would eventually leave me. Trust me when I say this Jer, watching the two of you die before my very eyes has been the most painful moment in my life."
Old memories resurface, old bonds are reformed, Jeremy loves his sister but he can never forget the way this man has loved them both and how they both have loved them back, he keeps a hand over Klaus' hand and says, "What do you plan to do with my sister?"
"Easy enough Jer, the fact that I need to drain every last drop of her blood doesn't mean she has to stay dead, I will feed Elena my blood and then it would be the three of us, just like old times, and this time, after I turn you both, I will introduce the two of you to my family."
He signs something to Greta and she comes out with a plate in which many lapis lazuli stones were kept, "Chose Jer, when I turn you which stone will you like to wear, and don't chose for Eve, I will chose hers myself after all I am her man" he smiles.
"Look Klaus, I think you're taking it too fast, yes I want to be with you and I love you but I have a family here, I can't leave them, my aunt will worry about me and about Elena"
"Leave worrying about Elena part to me, soon after the sacrifice I will compel your aunt to arrange a wedding between me and your sister and will also compel her to sign your guardianship to me, after all you haven't reached eighteen yet, have you" he says with a smirk.
Jeremy smiles and says, "Fine, but I am not turning into a vampire before I graduate"
"Done" Klaus says with a smile.
