Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon, the concept, or its characters. They belong to Bandai, Toei Animation, Saban... maybe others as well. I'm merely using them for my own personal enjoyment. Please don't sue
Notes: This actually was the ending to some 665-word one-shot I wrote. But I didn't like the way the fic turned out, so I'm redoing it, and just keeping this as a drabble in itself. Yay.
This takes place sometime after season one, but before season two.

Fading Hope
By: Daystar-chan
Takeru is only eight. He still has the optimism and faith Yamato himself had at that age. (Yamato-centric)

Takeru is only eight. He still has the optimism and faith Yamato himself had at that age. But Yamato knows, in another year or two, he'll grow out of it - just like Yamato did. The hope for their family to come back together will die down, and Takeru will realize the destiny of their parents is to stay seperated, no matter how much he wishes and prays.
Yamato hates that most of all. He doesn't want Takeru to become like him. He doesn't want to see his brother cold and bitter towards his family and friends, towards the people that care more about him than he can ever imagine. The fact that Takeru always tried to see the good in people and always think positively about a situation was what he loved most about his brother. But time's going to change that, and Yamato wishes he could still find a way to protect Takeru from the pain.
His brother's hope is what's kept him going all these years, after all.
