Chapter 1
The light of dawn hit the freshly grown grass and water from the river swayed in the breeze along with the dancing trees. Snowpaw left her den and ran forwards a few paces. She looked around and searched for her friend. A small tortoiseshell she-cat crawled out with a sleepy look. "Cherrypaw!" she bounded over to her friend and greeted her. "You look like you were out all night!" Snowpaw claimed, looking at Cherrypaw's tired expression. She laughed and replied "No, I just had a weird dream."
"Weird dream? What was it about?"
"Well, I was in a dark place and the only light there was this glowing cat." Even though the dream could have been important, Cherrypaw still said it as if it was redundant and just silly. Snowpaw looked a bit worried. What if the dream truly was important? "Maybe you need to tell Metalclaw." Snowpaw suggested. Cherrypaw looked at her as if she just saw her dead mother. "I can't do that!"
"Why not?"
"He'll think I'm somehow related to StarClan and how I should be a medicine cat! I don't want that! Not until he gets an apprentice." Cherrypaw announced, lashing her tail violently against the hard ground.
"Alright fine. Don't worry, that'll happen sooner than ever. Especially with Rosefur's kits ready to be apprentices soon." Snowpaw reassured her friend.
"Maybe you're right. But what if-"
"Now you're just making reasons to make yourself worry!" Snowpaw lashed out "Just calm down, it'll be fine!"
"Ok. I'll try. Our training will start soon"
"Oh yeah! But we have time until then. How your training going with Honeywing?"
"Oh, it's really fun! Feels like a kit is training me!" Cherrypaw laughed. Snowpaw purred but reminded herself that Honeywing was made a warrior only a few moons ago. It would make sense that she would be playful. However, Cherrypaw stopped laughing and looked dead ahead, emotionless almost, as if she suddenly went blind.
"But the way she fights... If I were an enemy, she would've torn me to shreds! No second thoughts!" she said. Snowpaw gave Cherrypaw a soothing lick to calm her down. She was right though. Even though Honeywing was very childish, she was a perfect killing-machine. Yesterday, she had gathered so much fresh-kill it could feed the Clan for a moon! Of course, most of it was given to the queens for their kits and the elders. How lucky! But it wasn't the time to complain as leaf-bare was coming soon and they had to catch as much prey as possible. They had to stop Honeywing from bringing the whole forest of prey over as then there wouldn't be more. There was no point in worrying since she was in the same Clan and her mentor! "Maybe she could teach you a thing or two about her techniques since you have the privilege of being her apprentice." sneered Snowpaw. Cherrypaw only gave Snowpaw a bored look then padded away as her mentor approached. "Come on Snowpaw!" a kind voice called from behind. She turned around to see her mentor. She was lucky. Her mentor was her dad and the deputy! What more would she ask for? "Coming!" she replied, throwing one last look at Cherrypaw before joining her mentor. Was it worth it worry about a dream? Then she realised she had to go travel around the border as part of her training. She was going to see ShadowClan's and WindClan's border! As she kept on pacing around with Lionfoot, he stopped at a sudden halt. They had arrived. But they weren't alone.
