To a Waltz
The quiet music box slowly began to awake her from her slumber as she stirred from under the sheets. The figurines were still twirling as the melody gently twinkled in her ears. She pushed the blankets off as she sat up with a yawning stretch. She climbed off her bed, walking to the window, opening it to breathe in the fresh air. A few birds were on the branches by her window chirping good morning to her. She giggled at the thought of the birds actually wishing her a good day, like a princess. She walked to her nightstand, closing the music box with a sigh. Even though it was just another school day she was excited. Izuku would be there.
And her knight in shining armor was currently on the floor of his room. Izuku, in his dream, had tried to reach out for Ballerina Momo, and assumedly, it caused his actual body to leap out and fall out of bed. He laid on the floor with his legs hanging up on the bed, staring at the ceiling. "Why am I suddenly thinking about Momo so much... I mean I always knew she was there, but after last night..." He took in a dry gulp before letting out a breathless gasp, thinking about how beautiful she was last night. He rubbed his forearm over his eyes, wanting to get rid of his thoughts and blush. Even though it was just another school day, he was anxious. Momo was going to be there.
Izuku and Momo both went to school taking their usual paths, he walked and took the train like everyone else while she was escorted from her household straight to the school by her personal driver. On the train, Izuku was crowded by a lot of other students which was always the case but this time, he couldn't help but notice the couples sticking particularly close together, he was embarrassed and kept his eyes to himself for the rest of the ride. Momo sighed at the sight of passing by couples holding hands as they walked to school, she recalled the feeling of his hand encompassing hers as they danced. She placed the hand he held over her chest, closing her eyes remembering the sensation. "His hand was much warmer than mine.."
The driver announced that they had arrived and she was taken out of her daydream. Izuku was glad to be out of the train, avoiding the romantic thoughts plaguing him, or at least that's what he thought he was getting away from, until he reached the front of his school. Momo was stepping out of the car out onto the sidewalk in front of him. He stopped, captured by the sight of her. She was in her usual school uniform with her hair up in her signature ponytail, her appearance was completely different from yesterday and yet it still maintained that elegant allure that he was starting to notice more.
She didn't seem to realize he was there as she closed the car door, walking ahead to the school, holding her school bag strap with both hands. He took a breath before slinging his bag over his shoulder, slightly jogging to her.
"G-Good morning, Yaoyorozu." He greeted as he reached her side, walking in step with her.
"Oh, Midoriya," She faced him with a polite grin, fixing her loose strand of hair. In truth, she had seen him as she was exiting the vehicle but she was curious as to what he would do if she pretended she didn't see him, happy that he did approach her. "I hope yesterday's formal events weren't too off-putting." She was aware of how boring such gatherings could be.
"H-Huh, no, actually I'm glad Todoroki invited me... It was fun." His eyes lingered on her as he finished his sentence.
She had caught his eyes before having to glance away because of her blushing cheeks, understanding that he was implying their dance. She stared down at the path they were walking as she spoke. "I had fun too."
And they walked to class together, side by side, neither of them aware of the other's hidden smile.
During class Izuku had been staring out the window daydreaming about Momo in a dance studio getting ready for a ballet show, stretching in a ballerina leotard. He was pretending that he came to the show early to bring her flowers and pictured her smiling face as she received them. Momo herself was glad for Mineta's short character design and her tall one because she was able to stare at his surprisingly strong back and messy hair, imagining running her fingers through it, playing with his green locks. They let themselves enjoy their daydreams throughout class although it was a detriment when they were doing hands-on hero training and were paired up together. They had to take turns being the rescuer and the rescuee.
"S-Sorry."
"I-Its okay."
They kept apologizing to each other from the awkward positions they kept finding themselves in. Izuku had carried her on his back, having to hold her up by grabbing her inner thighs, even feeling her chest pressed against him. She had fireman carried him over her shoulders and her arm had wrapped around his leg, particularly too close to that area, causing her to rush, panicked slightly. He had carried her bridal style and accidentally cupped her breast when he stumbled, he kept spewing apologies with an ashamed blush. At one point, she was carrying him bridal style which was in itself embarrassing for them. Both of their faces were flushed red by the end of the exercise with only the two of them knowing why.
It was after school, he was walking away from the front gates when he felt a tap on his shoulder, before he could check who it was she had walked ahead and turned around back to him, leaning forward, holding her school bag behind her with both hands.
"Oh, h-hey, Yaoyorozu."
"Hello, Midoriya." She tilted her head with a natural smile as her loose strand of hair swept across fluttering with the quiet wind. She glanced to the side, struggling to say it, after all, he was the one who greeted her in the morning. "S-See you tomorrow."
His eyes widened before his lips grew into a cheerful smirk. "Y-Yeah, see you tomorrow."
At this point Momo's entire face was to the side away from him as she nodded in agreement before saying goodbye, entering the car that was already waiting for her.
Izuku stayed as the car drove away. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding as he spoke his thoughts.
"I wonder what it's like to walk her home..."
