Melt

The rain had died down but hadn't stopped, still trickling away.

Izuku and Momo were holding hands.

They were walking away from the shrine and forest, walking next to the elongated gated fence that ran along her entire residence.

"I know I said I love the rain, but," She began to speak, getting his attention.

"Yeah, what is it Momo," He shifted his eyes towards her direction as they continued on.

She shook her head with a condensed sigh coming out as her shoulders sagged before she raised them back up, looking in his direction too, contenting eyes as she let out with a smile, "If I tell you, it won't come true..!" Keeping a wish to herself.

His lips parted staring at her with enamored eyes, he had to gulp first before he could speak but even then all he said was, "O-Okay," He didn't understand what she was saying but it was her endearing voice that captivated him, slowly letting go of her hand.

"Oh dear, it looks like we arrived," She let out as she wiped her sniffling pink nose, "I guess I'm more disheartened than I thought I would be," She was standing in front of the gates to her residence, facing Izuku as they opened behind her. She fixed her always loose strand of hair with a sad giggle and misty eyes, "I honestly don't want you to go despite knowing I'll see you tomorrow."

Gentle droplets were falling around them as they said goodbye.

Izuku cleared his throat, nodding. "Y-Yeah, I know what you mean," He ruffled the back of his hair as he glanced to the side, not wanting his subtle blush to be noticeable, he still couldn't believe Momo was his girlfriend and admitted how he felt, "I know it's dumb but I feel like once I leave this well turn out to be just another dream I wake up too," He let out a hopeless chuckle at the absurdity of it because he was fully conscious.

Momo shook her head with a small smile still gracing her face, "It's not foolish Izuku, my thoughts mirror, yours."

They were both stuck not wanting to say goodbye but eventually, they did after an embrace that involved a few more parting smooches.

"Message me when you get home, alright?" She asked as her lips pulled away from his, the both of them reluctantly breaking away.

"Um, yeah, is it okay if I call you?" Izuku scratched his cheek, "Y-You know, like last time?"

He could never get over the way her eyes would light up unexpectedly as if her distinguished elegance would disappear for spontaneous innocence. "Of course! That would be even better!"

Izuku let out a happy sigh as he got home, opening the door. After letting his mom know he was home, he went to take a quick shower and change out of his damp clothes. He entered his home, drying his hair with a towel. He picked up his phone off his desk, about to call her, but noticed a couple of messages, five minutes apart, both from Momo.

Momo: I know you said you would call but I was getting a bit worried

Momo: Ne, Izuku?

Izuku raised an eyebrow, "She must have messaged me while I was showering," He shrugged his shoulders, clicking on the call button as he flopped onto his bed, waiting for her to answer.

Momo Yaoyorozu was pacing back and forth in her room, she felt like a clingy fool for texting him two consecutive times, especially after barely establishing their relationship. "Why couldn't I just be patient," But then the worrying motherly side of her came out, "B-But what if he ran into a situation on the way home, Izuku is the type to throw himself into danger at a moment's notice. What if he doesn't get home until it's very late and still goes through the effort of calling? What if I'm not awake?" Momo jumped to conclusions and reassured herself as she nodded with a surge of determination, "I'll just stay up, no matter how long it takes!"

And her phone rang, instantly killing that determination. Momo fell to the side like a stiff plank at the ridiculousness, 'I got in a huff over nothing, again!'

She went to her phone that was on her bed, picking it up as she climbed over the mattress, she became giddy once she confirmed it was him calling but just before she was about to click answer, she remembered the messages she sent him.

"Great, now he'll just think I'm the clingy type," Momo was lying on her stomach and her feet up in the air, kicking at the bed in a slight tantrum. She ran her hand through her hair with her free hand before taking a calming breath, "If asks, I'll just explain it to him, I was worried because of our roles as heroes, th-that's it." Taking another breath before answering and placing the phone to her ear, "H-Hello, Izuku?"

"Hey, sorry Momo, I took a shower when I got home, I didn't mean to worry you," He easily laughed off her text causing all of her insecure overthinking to be pointless.

"O-Oh, you were simply in the shower, I feel foolish," She giggled at her reddening cheeks for assuming too much as usual.

Momo relaxed and sprawled her body out on the bed, stretching like a kitten as she talked to her boyfriend throughout the night. He was lying on his back with his phone next to his ear and his forearm over his face, covering his eyes, talking to his girlfriend, as they got closer to sleep.

Eventually, they ended up talking about their times at the dorms again and how much she missed sharing a home with everyone and he was entranced by the loneliness in her voice.

"It does rather tend to feel quite empty in this house..."

"If only I could be there with you..." He let out without thinking, simply wanting to keep her company.

"Ara? What could you possibly be insinuating, I-zu-ku?"

"E-Eh?! N-No, Momo I didn't mean-, er, it's just you know, we were always close by in the dorms, that it would be nice if it could be like that again, ahaha." Izuku let out a hopeless laugh, hoping she would buy it.

She let out a sleepy giggle, "I know, I was just teasing..."

"Oh, I should have known, hehe... Hey, Momo?"

"...Yes, Izuku?"

"I hope your wish comes true..." He said as he thought of her expression earlier today.

"I do too..." She whispered, barely audible, as if saying it out loud would cause it to not come true.

After they said goodnight to each other, Momo was curled up with her hand softly clutching over the blanket fabric, pretending it was hand, thinking of her wish.

'I want to hold your hand under the cherry blossoms..!'
