Summary: Why did life hate her? Kagome's day couldn't get any worse. First, she gets fired from her crappy job, then, she gets kicked out of her apartment and was homeless. But the cherry on top was getting kidnapped and taken to be hunted by demons so she can mate with one of them. Yea…she probably shouldn't have gotten out of bed that morning.

Seven days later…

It had been a nearly a week later and things had made lead way between Inuyasha and Kagome. For the past few days, they've been making sure that they were masked in each other's scent, and not only was the process enjoyable, but working as well. Three days ago they had a double lunch date with Atlas and Aero and Atlas had comically mentioned that Inuyasha had finally mated Kagome, which in turn caused Inuyasha to comment back. In addition, other demons within the castle have managed to back off from Kagome, knowing that Inuyasha's scent was fully on Kagome, and hers on him.

Of course besides them masking their scents, Inuyasha and Kagome have managed to do other activities as well. He had taken her into the city and she was able to see the many different shops, stalls and restaurants the area had to offer. To her it reminded her of being in downtown Seattle, besides from the difference in architecture and scenery. He had even taken her to a ravine where they went near a waterfall. And one night, they had slept in the living room and gazed at the night sky and star gazed. In addition, two days ago, he had taken her back to his mother's garden and he surprised her with a picnic lunch.

As much as Kagome wanted to deny it, she was starting to enjoy being in Inuyasha's company. Of course, it didn't have to do with the fact that Inuyasha was able to give her amazing orgasms and in turn do the same for him. They had managed to talk about anything and everything and she was surprisingly able to open up a bit to him. Though she didn't tell him every single thing, especially when it came to starting a family, they had managed to skip that subject for now.

"I'll see you in half an hour." Inuyasha said, kissing Kagome that left her wanting more.

"Why does your brother want to see you?" She hooked her arms around his neck and kissed him. "Tell him you're busy. It wouldn't be lying." She touched her lips to his between sentences.

They had just finished another round of mind-blowing orgasms when a messenger had come telling Inuyasha that Sesshomaru had requested his presence immediately.

Inuyasha groaned, she could feel him hard against her. "Your scent is killing me. One breath at a time."

"So stay." She whispered against his lips.

"Don't tempt me." He ran his hands up and down her back and then cupped her ass. "As much as I would love to go another round with you, I'd never hear the end of it if I don't see him now."

"If he insists on seeing you so badly, why not just invite him to dinner."

Inuyasha burst out laughing. "You must really love the hell out of me if you're willing to…" He let the sentence die. They both just looked at one another.

Love.

She waited for the panic to well. The horror to descend, but it never did. Was she starting to fall in love with him? Honestly, Kagome didn't know. All she knew was that she did enjoy this feeling, whatever it was.

"Look, if you don't want to invite him, you don't have too. But I think it'd be a good idea. Besides, it'd give me a chance to get to know him a bit better since out first meeting didn't go so well."

Inuyasha exhaled and the tension left his body. "Alright, I'll invite him." He kissed her on the tip of her nose. "At my meeting with him."

"What are you meeting with him about anyway?"

He frowned. "I'm not sure."

Kagome could sense that he wasn't being entirely honest with her. Inuyasha knew what Sesshomaru wanted. He just didn't want to tell her. Then the answer hit her. The meeting was about her. Sesshomaru didn't seem to like her very much. Maybe he was going to try and talk Inuyasha into sending her back. Like the last time. Shit, now her body reacted. Now? She felt a tightness in her belly. A clamminess on her hands. The air seemed to freeze in her lungs.

"Hey." Inuyasha squeezed her hand. "What's with this look? You look like you're afraid of something. This is a surprise because I've never seen you afraid before." He smiled at her. "Not when I was hunting you, not when I caught you. Hell, you even stabbed me in the back." He chuckled, giving his head a shake. "Yet, you're worried now. Don't be. You have absolutely nothing to be afraid of, I promise." He gave her hand another squeeze.

She huffed out a breath. "If you say so. And for the record, when we went to that ravine and we jumped from that cliff into the water I was petrified."

Inuyasha laughed. "But you did it. You were able to put your trust in me knowing that nothing was going to happen to you. You can trust me to help you when you need it. When you finally realize that, we'll finally be on the right track."

"We're on the right track." It just slipped out of her mouth.

Inuyasha's gaze softened. "Yes, we are." He grabbed her and kissed her like there was no tomorrow. He kissed her like she was it for him and well, she returned the favor. By the time he released her, they were both short of breath.

He growled. "Get back into bed. I won't be long, maybe we can go out and do something."

"I thought we could stay in a do something as well." She smiled slyly.

Inuyasha smirked. "We can do that too." He pulled from her embrace and headed toward the door. "Sit tight, I'll be back in a few minutes." He then turned and left.

Kagome flopped back onto Inuyasha's bed. She needed to figure out what these feelings were that were swimming in her head and heart. After being with him for nearly a week, she could easily say that she did enjoy being with him. The things they've done together were wonderful, and if this was what it would be like mated to him, then she didn't believe it would be so bad.

Even though she had voiced her opinion of going back home, that time was closely closing in on her. And Kagome wasn't going to fight it anymore. She knew in her heart that it would be a mistake if she went back home and left what was happening here. She really did want to see where their relationship can go past the two-week mark. Though she didn't have a handle on her feelings now, she could actually say that she could see and feel herself falling in love with him at the rate she was going. How could she not? Inuyasha was wonderful and had shown and given her something that she hadn't experienced in so long. The feeling of having someone to rely on, to love her. She knew he wouldn't hurt her. She trusted him. He's already proven to her that he wouldn't.

Kagome took a deep breath and headed for the kitchen where she poured herself a glass of water and took a long drink. She leaned against the kitchen bar and took a look at her surroundings. "I could get used to this." She voiced, happily.

The more she thought about it, the more she grew to the idea of staying here. However, she knew that she couldn't just hang around in this suite all day. Maybe she could look for a job? Though she didn't know exactly what she should do. But maybe she didn't really need to. Inuyasha was wealthy in his right and didn't need the extra income. But she could still think of something to occupy her time when Inuyasha did have to take care of his duties and other important manners.

She couldn't help but let a small giggle escape her mouth. My have things certainly changed.
Kagome couldn't believe that she was actually considering a future here. She clutched her stomach from feeling butterflies. She was excited, she couldn't wait. Of course, she had to let Inuyasha know her plans. That she wanted to forgo the two-week agreement and remain in the demon realm.

"Why wait?" She said to herself. She didn't think she could wait for him to get back to break the good news to him. She needed to tell him now, and even though it wouldn't be great to interrupt a meeting with him and his brother, this would also be a good thing to let Sesshomaru know that she was here to stay and not going anywhere. So with her mind made up, Kagome went to freshen up and get dressed to head to Sesshomaru's office.

It was Inuyasha's turn to pace up and down. The woolen rug beneath his feet was soft and yielding. He wished his brother could be the same.

"No." He growled, hoping that his brother would actually hear him this time.

He knew that this was going to come about. Once he made it to his brother's office, Sesshomaru had stated that he was going to send Kagome back home. Inuyasha was quick to point out that the two weeks weren't up and he still had time left. Of course, Sesshomaru wasn't trying to hear it and for the past thirty minutes were going back and forth like a ping-pong match.

"Watch your tongue." Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes.

"You're being unreasonable." He tried to breathe deeply, to get himself to calm down a bit. His brother didn't respond well to aggression.

"That woman is trouble. Your feelings for her are interfering with your judgement." Sesshomaru walked towards his window. "I have spoken with the leader of the Eastern wolf tribe, Koga. He said that he would like to have her."

Inuyasha snarled, his eyes flickering between gold and teal. He already felt his fangs elongating and his claws sharpening. "That mangy wolf is not taking her."

"Stop with the boyish tantrums." Sesshomaru gave a bored shake of the head. "From what I was told, Koga had an interest in her during the forage but you managed to win her. I am sure that he is wasting his time with your human but it would be a sign of good faith if we sent her to him anyway. Maybe he can do a better job of convincing her to―"

"Don't you dare say another fucking word." His voice was so deep that it was barely recognizable as speech. "Kagome's mine. No one else gets to go near her. I've claimed her and I'm keeping her. I don't care if she never mates me. I don't care if she never bares me children. She's staying here with me and that's final."

"What the are you saying? Listen to yourself. Koga is already here and I have already told him that he can take the woman."

"You had no right."

"I am the ruler of these lands. My word is absolute." Sesshomaru stated firmly. "Besides, this would be best for everyone. That woman does not even want you."

"Kagome does want me."

"I gave you a task and now I'm changing it. Wait for the next forage and—"

"No!" It came out in a booming snarl.

"She is just another human female. There are plenty more where she came from."

"I don't care about any other women except for the one that is with me now. And I'm not backing down." Inuyasha took a step towards his brother, while Sesshomaru took a step towards him. Their eyes were locked and standing mere inches away from each other. This wasn't a fight Inuyasha could ever win but he didn't care. He would gladly give up his life for Kagome. It might have only been a few days, but she had become everything to him. Everything.

"You are willing to give up your life for that woman." Sesshomaru glared. "She means everything to you. Everything? Are you sure?"

Inuyasha hadn't realized that he had said the words aloud. "Yes." He almost whispered.

Sesshomaru took a step back and huffed out a breath. "Be grateful that I can merciful, little brother. I am giving you one last chance."

Inuyasha felt his spirits lifted.

"Very well. I will have a talk with Koga." He stated. "You mentioned to me earlier that she was nearing her heat, correct?"

Inuyasha nodded.

"You have twenty-four hours to be mated and get her pregnant. If she is not pregnant by the end of tomorrow night, Koga will have her."

Before Inuyasha could give a reply, the door creaked open and Kagome walked in. Many emotions were flashing across her face, but the one that of course stuck the most was the hurt surging through. She looked from Sesshomaru to Inuyasha and back again. "Is that true? If I'm not pregnant in the next twenty-four hours you're sending me back?"

Inuyasha shouted "No!" and Sesshomaru nodded yes.

"No." Inuyasha repeated, with just as much ardor.

"Yes." Sesshomaru murmured, irritation in his voice. "I want you mated and pregnant or—"

"Or nothing," Inuyasha growled.

Kagome shook her head. "What's this about me going into heat? How long did you know about this?"

Fuck dammit. He had planned to explain to Kagome that she was coming close to her heat and that it would be best to have her sleep in her room until it passed. "I knew since last night, but―"

Kagome clutched at her chest. She grimaced, like she was in physical pain. She sniffed and her eyes were filled with tears. Inuyasha's heart hurt just looking at her.

"It's not what you think. I can explain―"

Another sniff as her eyes locked with Inuyasha's. She couldn't believe this. Here she was ready to tell him that she wanted to stay here and make it work and he was plotting with his brother to get her pregnant before tomorrow. "And what? Were you going to try and get me to have sex with you so I would get pregnant?" She then gasped. "Oh God…was this why you've been so nice to me for the past few days? You butter me up, make me feel comfortable with you and then I'd be so grateful that I'd want to sleep with you?"

"Kagome, no, it's not like that. I―"

"I don't want to hear anymore." She shook her head. She wasn't even trying to listen to him. "You'll just say and do whatever it takes, just to please your brother, won't you?"

"No." The word came out sounding agonized. It matched the pain he was feeling inside his chest.

"Yes, you will." She glanced at him.

"I…" He needed to explain, to make her understand.

True, he had kept this important fact from her, in fact there were plenty of other things he was keeping from her. However, he wasn't the only person keeping secrets. Inuyasha knew that there were certain things that Kagome didn't want to share with him. But he knew that just like him, he'd told her everything that was important and planned on telling her more as time went on.

"Kagome, I—"

"Save it!" She yelled. "And to think that I came here to tell you that I wanted to stay." Kagome turned and walked out the door which was wide open.

"Wait. Let me explain!" He shouted after her, feeling helpless.

"Let her go." Sesshomaru said.

"No!" Inuyasha shouted. "I've listened to you enough. I need to…" He growled and followed Kagome. Dammit. He needed to make her understand.

"Let her calm down first." Sesshomaru called after him but Inuyasha ignored him. "Save it for behind closed doors."

"Kagome!" He shouted, putting every bit of anguish he felt into her name. He sprinted after her, catching her easily. "I know I messed up, but please let me explain. Don't do this to us."

"There is no us!" She shouted, without turning back.

"Don't say that." He felt his heart rate pick up. Maybe his brother had been right about waiting to confront her. Adrenaline surged as he looked around the room. Standing calmly in the corner was Koga.

No! Hell no. Inuyasha growled softly.

Kagome turned so sharply, he almost walked into her. "Let me just tell you something." She pointed a finger at him.

"Not now." Inuyasha ground out.

"Oh, I'm only permitted to talk when it suits you?" She stabbed him with her finger. "Well sorry for you. It doesn't work like that."

"Kagome, listen to me—"

"No damned way am I listening to you. I've listened to you enough, don't you think?" She didn't wait for a reply.

He was tempted to grab her and to lock a hand over her mouth or to throw her over his shoulder and to carry her off.

"I'm done listening to you Inuyasha. All you seem to spout is complete bullshit. Is that what the past few days have been? To think that I was actually finally able to trust you and move past my own insecurities." She swallowed thickly.

"You can still trust me. But the information I kept from you—"

"No!" She yelled, cutting him off, making him swallow his words. "That was more than just a bit of information you kept me from me. It was something very important that should've been mentioned. You were trying to trick me. Entrapping me into getting pregnant."

"I assure you that wasn't the case, Kagome. I never intended to trick you I swear." He tried to touch her but she pulled away with a sharp jerk. "Let's go back to my suite, we can talk about this there."

"There's nothing to discuss. I don't care anymore about our two-week agreement. I packed what little things I had and I'm leaving now." Her eyes welled even though she didn't shed so much as a single tear.

"Don't say that, please."

"No, Inuyasha. There's no we or us. There never will be." She snarled. "Do us both a favor and let me leave. We're done."

"I'm glad to hear it." Koga pushed up off the wall. "I'm glad you're packed. We're leaving right away." His blue gaze was on Kagome. Inuyasha clenched his fangs so hard he might have felt one of them snap. Thank goodness for advanced healing.

Koga had wanted her during the forage. Apparently, the wolf still wanted her.

"Who are you?" Kagome asked, turning to face this newcomer.

"I'm Koga, leader of the wolf demon tribe, and you're going to be my woman."

Inuyasha snarled. "Touch her and I'll—"

"You'll what, mutt-face?" Koga said, taking a step towards them. "You'll do nothing, that's what. This woman has renounced you, and your brother, the king has already given permission for me to take her. And I'm certainly going to take advantage of this opportunity."

"What's he talking about?" Kagome questioned, turning to Inuyasha.

"You publicly announced that you no longer wish to be with this half-pint, which makes you available. Free for someone else to claim you." His blue eyes sparkled with excitement, a smug grin appearing on his face.

"I'm not available." She tried to step from behind him but he gripped her waist and pulled her toward him.

"Leave her alone Koga. It's obvious that she doesn't want to go with you."

"Like I care." Koga said, arrogantly. "She renounced you and I'm stepping in. She's coming with me."

"No I'm not. I'm going home." There was a slight quiver to her voice but she also sounded angry.

"Your home is going to be with me." He stated. "You're coming with me so let's get going."

"Don't do this Koga." Atlas stated, stepping forward towards the wolf demon. He was already within the vicinity when he saw Inuyasha and Kagome arguing, but decided to stay out of it. However, looking at the situation now, he was glad that he decided to step in. "Inuyasha and Kagome are just having a little spat. They care for one another. There'll be another forage next year. Just wait and get yourself a woman until then."

"Not a chance in hell!" Koga scoffed. "Why wait until next year when I have a newly unclaimed one at this moment. Besides, this was the one I wanted from the start." Koga said, reaching past Inuyasha to grab Kagome.

No damned way. Inuyasha lunged at the demon but was pulled back by Atlas. Obviously, his friend had a death wish. "Inuyasha, calm down!" Atlas said, trying to subdue the enraged hanyou.

"Let go of me!" Inuyasha growled. He was already seeing red when he saw Kagome pulled against Koga's chest. She was his. His.

He growled a second time as Koga gripped a kicking Kagome to his chest. She punched him in the face, screaming in both pain and rage. She squirmed so hard, Inuyasha was sure she would fall. Koga only gripped her tighter.

"Calm down and stop struggling." Koga said, trying to get a better handle on her.

Kagome fought harder and so did Inuyasha, but Atlas held him tightly, trying to calm him down. If he managed to break free and him and Koga got into a full out fight, they might injure Kagome in the process. And from the way Inuyasha was acting, he was too far gone to realize the situation and control himself.

Once Koga got a better handle on Kagome, he strode from the room, with Kagome failing her arms and kicking her legs in protest.

"Stop! Get back here Koga!" Inuyasha screamed. "Kagome!"

"Inuyasha!"

She called his name and it felt like his insides were being ripped apart. She sounded afraid. Like she was in a full-blown panic. "I'll come for you!" He yelled at the top of his lungs.

"Calm down." Atlas said, still holding onto him. "She renounced you publicly. I hate to say this, but Koga is well within his rights. You would've been wrong to stop him with force. We'll work this out."

"How?" He yelled, trying to free himself.

"We'll find a way." Atlas spoke calmly, but it didn't help one bit. The turbulence inside him only grew worse. Their laws needed to be obeyed and there were things even Sesshomaru couldn't change.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha screamed, even though she was long gone.
