Summary: Why did life hate her? Kagome's day couldn't get any worse. First, she gets fired from her crappy job, then, she gets kicked out of her apartment and was homeless. But the cherry on top was getting kidnapped and taken to be hunted by demons so she can mate with one of them. Yea…she probably shouldn't have gotten out of bed that morning.

Koga dropped Kagome onto a balcony, her legs giving out and she fell in an unladylike sprawl. She quickly scrambled to her feet and ran inside. It was stupid because she couldn't hope to outrun him. She probably wouldn't make it two feet before he got a hold of her. Plus, she didn't have anywhere to go, she had no idea where she was.

"Let go of me!" She yelled as he grabbed her from behind. Kagome twisted from his hold and managed to lift her hand high and slap him across his face.

His head didn't give an inch despite the impact and despite his right cheek a bright red, it didn't look like she did much damage. Sadly the same couldn't be said for her hand.

"Feel better?" He raised his brows.

"No. I wish I was stronger." She nursed her hand, cradling it to her chest. "If I was, you would be laying on the ground nursing a bruise. What's wrong with you?" She suddenly asked, when she noticed he was looking at her strangely.

"I'm going to kiss you now." He stated.

Kiss her? Yeah right. "Touch me and I swear to God I'll hurt you!" She yelled, keeping her eyes firmly on his. She pulled away from him and he let her go. Kagome turned to face him, sure to keep a few feet between them.

"We just established that you aren't capable of hurting me." His ice blue stare bore holes through her.

Kagome swallowed thickly. "I'll just have to find a way." She glanced down at his crotch. Not to check him out, but to check if she could lift her knee high enough to hit him where it hurt.

"Don't even think about it." He shook his head, already knowing her intentions.

"Let me go, you big, horrible, disgusting dog." Way to go with the insults. Her brain wasn't functioning at full capacity. She'd just been kidnapped for a second time in a short amount of time, so sue her.

"Don't classify me with that pup. He's a disgrace when it comes to canines, I'm a much better man than that half-pint."

"You're an asshole of epic proportions."

He was about to reply when he leaned forward and sniffed her.

"Stop that!" She shouted. She was tempted to slap him again but refrained. She didn't want to injure her hands any further.

He ignored her and sniffed harder. Kagome kicked him in the shin, but quickly regretted it. What the hell were these demons made of, steel? Her foot was throbbing in so much pain, it felt like all of the bones in her foot cracked on impact.

Koga's eyes narrowed. "Stop that. You do know that demons heal at an alarming rate, so even if you were to harm me…" He pulled a face like the possibility was too remote to contemplate. "I'd heal too quickly for it to mean anything?" His nostrils flared. "You're nearly in heat."

"Don't even think about it, you horrible monster."

"We should rut. I'm a skilled lover. I've made human women weep from the sheer pleasure." He said, smugly.

Kagome grunted in disgust. "I wouldn't have sex with you if you were the last person left on the planet."

"After I've had you, you'll change your tune soon enough. Now get on the bed, we're rutting now." Koga said, taking a step toward her.

"Weren't you listening to what I was saying?" She nearly yelled, taking a step back from him. "I'm not mating with you! I don't even love you."

"Love has nothing to do with this. All that matters is that we'll be compatible. We'll mate and have a few pups. I'd look after you. Besides, it'd be a win-win for you, comparing from where you came from."

The nerve of this guy! How dare he think that she would stoop so low as to be mated to him than go back to Seattle. She'd rather go back to being a homeless girl on the street then be stuck with this wolf. And what did he mention about love not meaning anything?

"What do you mean love has nothing to do with this? Love certainly has something to do with it. It's amazing. It's wonderful." A frown then graced her lips, suddenly finding the ground more interesting. "But I know its also heartbreaking." She said lowly. "To let someone else in is scary. Being worried that that person could hurt you…but its worth it in the end once you truly let them in." She looked back up to look him in the eye. "Haven't you ever felt that way towards someone?"

Koga glanced out the window and sucked in a deep breath. "No…but I know someone who claims that they feel the same way about me."

"Wait, what?" She asked him, surprised. "If you have someone you care about, why not take that person as your mate?"

"I don't care about her. It's an arranged mating in order to form a union between my tribe and hers. But I don't care what they say, I don't feel the same way about her and refuse to play into their hands. Besides, she isn't even my type."

"Have you even tried to get to know her?" Kagome questioned him.

"Well…" Koga looked away, considering her words. "No, but I already know I don't like her. You're here and that's all that matters." He replied stubbornly.

"You don't know that for sure. It sounds to me like you never gave this girl a good chance."

"I don't have to give Ayame a chance." Koga said. "Just because she has eyes that are brighter than any set of emeralds I've ever seen, auburn hair that's as bright as a glowing flame. A very dutiful and dedicated woman who puts her comrades before anyone else…"

Kagome noticed that the more he was describing Ayame, this look of softness crossed his face. "From what you're saying, it seems like you at least care for her."

"What, no!" Koga stuttered. But Kagome gave him a knowing look, and he gave a big sigh. "Ok, maybe she's not a bad person. And maybe I should've gotten to know her a bit first before completely turning her down."

"I'm sure it's not too late." Kagome told him. "Why not just talk to her and take the time to get to know her before actually mating with her."

"You make it sound so easy." Koga said, taking a seat on the couch in the corner of the room. "The last time I was face-to-face with her, I said some things to her that were unforgivable."

"And you think being with me will help?" She questioned him. "It'd only make you feel worse in the end. You'll wonder what could've been and look back on the one that could've possibly made you happy."

He glanced her way before looking at his hands, which were interlaced on his lap. "I wouldn't know what to say to her."

"Just tell her how you feel. I'm sure once you start that off, she might listen to you and just go from there."

He lifted his gaze to her. "You really think so?"

Kagome gave a nod. "I guarantee it." Kagome felt something lift inside her, which only brought feelings of confusion.

She was really angry with Inuyasha. Her trust in him had been misplaced. Why was she so shocked that he had betrayed her? Why did she have this feeling that there was a rational explanation? This urge to forgive him. Argh! She was so weak where he was concerned.

Koga shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe…I'll think on it." Then he paused. "Would you like me to take you back now?"

"You can take me to Seattle, Washington." The last thing Kagome wanted was to go back but what other choice did she have?

"Seattle, Washington?" He questioned, in realization.

"Yes, do you know it?"

"That's where Ayame is at the moment." Koga said, thoughtfully.

"I'll tell you what, drop me off and go after her. You can kill two birds with one stone." She held up her fingers.

"You've given me some insightful advice and I feel that I need to do the same in return. That mutt-face loves you."

What? "No, you're wrong. He lied to me. He wasn't truthful with me and planned to deceive me."

"I don't know what happened between you two, but I do know what I saw. That mutt was like a faithful puppy in your hands."

"Yea, only because his brother commanded him to mate me and…" She didn't finish the sentence.

"Nope." Koga shook his head. "He was desperate and needy trying to get to you when I took you. He looked completely pathetic. It's obvious that he's in love with you. It doesn't matter about things he didn't tell you. He probably did it to protect you."

Kagome thought about his words. She knew that her feelings for Inuyasha had grown by the day. She had let him get under her skin and now she was paying the price. Atlas had also mentioned that Inuyasha had feelings for her. Feelings were one thing, but love. Love was another thing entirely. It was intense, all-consuming and it was as trusting as one person could get with another. But it was also scary. Scarier than the highest mountain or the steepest cliff that was falling.

Kagome huffed out a breath. She'd spoken about love earlier like she was an old hand at it. Like she understood it's dynamics. The truth was, she had no idea, none whatsoever…did she? Crap, look at what she did. Here she was telling Koga that he didn't Ayame a chance and she's being a hypocrite. What gave her the right to tell someone else what to do, when in fact needed to do the same thing. She needed to see Inuyasha. She owed him a chance to explain, and she owed it to herself as well.

"Are you ready to go?" Koga raised his brows.

She nodded once.

"I take it I'm taking you back to the Western Lands?" Koga smiled. Now that she was no longer in fear of her life and limbs, she realized that he was actually quite a good-looking guy.

"How did you know I had changed my mind?"

"You gave a little smile just now and your cheeks are flushed. I can tell that you were thinking about the mutt. It seems that you have it just as bad as he does."

She shook her head, preparing to deny it all but sighed instead.

Koga laughed and although she first rolled her eyes, she couldn't help but smile along with him. "Let's go." He put his hand on her shoulder as they walked towards the door.

The double doors leading to the balcony flew open. Glass exploded out as both panes of glass were obliterated. Inuyasha stepped into the wide opening, taking up the whole space. He was a bundle of tension. But what made it worse was that his eyes were in his full-demon form.

"Get your filthy hands off of her!" His voice boomed.

Kagome sucked in a breath. He looked so menacing that if any other human saw him, they would be trembling in fear. Hell, she was trembling, but it wasn't from fear. To her, he'd never looked more alluring. Maybe her brain was missing a few screws, because the way Inuyasha was looking right now should be scaring her. But she couldn't help it. He looked so captivating, in every aspect of the word, that her mouth dried and her throat worked. His whole stance evoked both fear and excitement in equal measure.

Koga took his hand from her shoulder. She couldn't see him because she was a step behind him. "You arrived just in time, mutt. We were just about to—"

His words were cut short by Inuyasha. "Step away from him, Kagome. Do it now." His words were barely understandable.

"No, you don't…" Kagome tried to reason with him.

Koga gave her a light shove which sent her sprawling to the right. She landed a few feet away with her knees on the rug. She felt a sharp pain as she skidded over the woolen surface. There were better ways to get carpet burn, this wasn't one of them.

There was a loud snarling noise. "You bastard!" Inuyasha snarled as he charged at Koga, knocking him back.

"Wait!" Koga shouted as Inuyasha let it rip. "Let me—"

"Kagome is mine." Inuyasha snarled.

"I was bringing her back, you damn mutt!" Koga shouted.

Kagome let out a gasp as Inuyasha had leapt on Koga, followed by a snapping noise. Oh God. Did he just break Koga's ribs?

"Stop!" Kagome shouted. She could see that Koga wasn't even fighting back. He was only trying to block the worst of the blows. His face was contorted in pain.

"Wait, dammit!" Koga growled as Inuyasha advanced.

"Inuyasha, stop it!" She shouted but he ignored her.

Inuyasha punched Koga solidly in the face. There was a crunching noise as his nose flattened.
Blood gushed and from the way he was wincing, might have a few broken bones. He staggered backwards but kept his balance, which amazed her after the beating he had taken.

"Mine." Inuyasha snarled, as he pummeled Koga. There were grunts snarls and the sound of his fists connecting with Koga's face. It was the most revolting thing she had ever seen or heard. It was so violent. So savage. Blood poured, flesh peeled and split and bone cracked. Koga fell to his knees.

Kagome screamed. She wasn't sure whether she was saying Koga's name or Inuyasha's or whether it was just noise but it was loud enough that her throat hurt. In an almost elegant move, Inuyasha kicked in a swiping motion. Before Koga could fully block it, Inuyasha's foot connected, Kagome was sure she might've heard something snap until Koga laid slumped on the floor.

"Oh God, you killed him." She ran to Inuyasha and beat at his chest. "You went and freaking killed him! What the hell is wrong with you?"

He grabbed her hands and held them. She tried to yank them free but after a few attempts failed and looked up at him instead.

His eyes were still in full form. Every muscle in his body was tense. His mouth was set as he gave a silent snarl. "You're mine. Not his." Then he huffed out a breath. "Did you move on so quickly?"

"You're one hell of an asshole. I hadn't moved on. You're a psycho. You killed him. Oh my God…" She was panting. "I can't believe you killed him. You crazy—"

"He's not dead."

"What do you mean he's not dead, of course he's dead. He hasn't moved yet and when you hit him, something snapped. I can't believe you just did that. I thought I was in love with you but I can't love a lunatic, barbarian, savage, like you."

Inuyasha cupped her cheeks. She tried to cringe away because they were covered in dried blood. "You're in love with me?" His eyes normalized, somewhat. His irises returned to his normal golden color, but the sclera's were still red. His whole gaze softened.

She shook her head. "No way! You're a mad man. A crazy son of a—"

He nodded. "I'm crazy for you. You said that you're in love with me."

"You killed Koga."

He snarled. "Stop saying his name and stop saying that I killed him. He'll be fine. Sore for a couple of hours." He shrugged. "Maybe a day or two…which he deserves, but he'll be fine."

Koga sucked in a deep breath and then moaned. He moved a half an inch and slumped back down.

"See." Inuyasha raised his brows. "Perfectly fine."

"You smashed his face to a pulp. And you broke a few of his bones. When you kicked him in the head, I'm sure you might've caused him brain damage. So how do you call that fine?" She said, disbelief etched into her words.

"He touched you. He deserved everything he got. Though with so much shit he talks about being able to best me in a fight, he was pathetic." Inuyasha said.

"That's because he wasn't fighting back." She rolled her eyes again. "Nothing happened between the two of us. He plans to try and make it work with Ayame."

"Ayame?" He frowned. That's a surprise. Inuyasha remembered hearing that Koga wanted nothing to do with the red-headed wolf girl. He wondered what changed the wolf's mind.

Kagome nodded. "He realizes that he didn't fully give her a chance and wants to take the time to fully see where things can go with her. Also, he helped me see a few things clearly." She murmured the last sentence.

"Like, the fact that you're in love with me?" Inuyasha slid his arms around her, he was grinning.

Kagome shook her head. "No! That was before."

Inuyasha frowned again. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about being close to your heat. With us being intimate, I should've let you know so we could've figured out what to do. Despite what you may think, I wasn't going to force you to mate with me just to get you pregnant. No matter what Sesshomaru wanted, I was never going to follow through with what he told me. I would never trap you like that."

Kagome was about to reply when Koga moaned again, reminding her that he wasn't dead. "I can't believe you nearly killed him." She took a glance at Koga's still slumped form.

"He should never have taken you."

"He wasn't thinking straight." She reasoned.

Inuyasha had the good grace to look embarrassed. "I wasn't thinking straight either. I didn't mean to hurt him so badly."

Kagome lifted a brow in question.

"Ok, so maybe I feel a slight bit of joy in beating that mangy wolf into the ground." Inuyasha admitted. "He's always bragged that he could beat me in a fight, and me winning should shut him up for a while." He took a breath. "But I know this technically doesn't consider a real fight since he didn't fight back. And when he comes around, I'll apologize. Anyway, to the matter at hand. I should've been honest with you, and for that I'm sorry."

"But you were honest from the start and never lied to me. You told me that Sesshomaru forced you to win and claim me—"

"I was never forced to love you and the fact of the matter is that I do love you very much. I expected it to be a hardship but it wasn't."

"I'm sorry too. I didn't give you the chance to explain yourself and I should've listened instead of jumping to conclusions." Kagome admitted. "Still, you should've told me what was going on. I started putting my trust in you, I wished you were able to do the same."

"I know. Trust does go both ways, but I didn't want to scare you off. Everything I told you about my feelings, about trusting me, I meant it. You can trust me. I'll come for you, be there for you and I always will. Your everything to me…a part of me. To hurt you would be hurting myself." He stroked her cheek.

"You have blood on your hands."

"I just poured my heart out to you and your worried about a little blood?" His eyes narrowed into hers, which had returned to their normal state.

"Doesn't change the fact that you beat up Koga. Poor thing will be out of commission for a good while." She then smiled.

"Feh, he'll be fine."

Kagome had to smile despite everything. "I think we've been here long enough, let's go home."

"Back to the castle?" He seemed to be holding his breath.

She nodded. "Yes. It's where I belong. I want to be with you, Inuyasha. We might've ended up together in a not-so-great situation, but I might, sort of, love you a little bit."

"You do?" He pulled her closer and kissed her softly.

"Yes, I do."

He huffed out a breath. "You love me a whole lot."

"A little."

"A lot." He growled.

"Let's argue about this at home."

"Does this mean you'll mate me?"

"I'll think about it."

"Take all the time you need. Because I'm not going to let you go no matter what. I want to be with you, and even if we don't mate, it wouldn't matter as long as you stayed with me." He put his forehead against hers and her heart just about burst.

"Do you mean it?"

"As long as I have you, that's all that matters. I want you and nobody else." He kissed her hard enough to have her heart racing and other parts puckering.

"Your brother won't be happy." She kissed him back.

"He'll just have to deal." She then let out a surprised gasp as Inuyasha unexpectedly picked her up and held her bridal style. "Let's get going." He made his way to the balcony.

"Wait, what about Koga?"

"I'm sure someone would come in here eventually."

"Inuyasha." She said, sternly.

He let out a sigh. "Fine, I'll go and call someone to help him and then we can get out of here."

"Thank you."
