They're well known for the colour, and back in the day of Hogwarts they had always been given the orange things as people laughed and joked. They did as well, hell, their work robes for working at their pride and joy, their store, were flaming orange and clashed horribly with their hair...
But sometimes, the joke seemed to feel a bit sour at times. To Fred at least, George never seemed to be fazed by much, nor did anyone close to them really. Fred had asked Taralyn about it, his almost-sort-of-girlfriend who worked in a store down the alley a bit, and she had only smiled and shrugged.
"It's who you are," was all she simply replied with, leaving Fred to muse about it by himself, she couldn't help him out with this one.
Sometimes as he approaches their store from the outside, Fred sighs. It's flaming orange, everything in the windows are their best products (wrapped in orange) and although it feels like home, well...maybe home isn't what Fred wants. After all, he and George had moved out of home as soon as they'd dropped out of school, so why had they made their store so…what they always had been?
"It's like our trademark." George shrugged. "Is it really bothering you that much?"
And Fred knew it wasn't. It was just something else…which he couldn't exactly put his finger on.
He watches his brother juggle oranges, they're rich enough to buy such a delicacy now, and wonders what it could be that has set himself against the colour so much suddenly. His gaze turns the window and then narrows as he witnesses Tara chatting to a bartender from one of the nearby hangouts. He's blonde…tanned…tall. Fred clenches his fist as the guy touches Tara's hair gently, to brush it behind her ear again, and turns away from the sight to his brother.
"George…how do you think I'd look…blonde?"
I'd like to say here and now that I'd never let Fred change his hair colour :p Was just working here with the idea that sometimes everyone is unhappy with their appearance at one stage in their life or another, even if that thought is ridiculous. because Fred is teh awesome :D
This is a challenge for FictionNET ( http / sycotic . org / fnet ) If you're looking for a nifty (mostly based on Harry Potter) writing forum, join Fnet and say that Keladryie sent you. It's seriously worth it.
The challenge here was for Septych, which is where I must create a piece for a set of seven somethings. This round was Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. Here, as you can see, this piece is all about Orange. :) The next piece, Yellow, shall be about the Ulga's character in a Cirque du Soleil show called Varekai. I hope you enjoy :)
