Intro to the Multiverse

The universe, ever expanding, is home to many different worlds. Lugnica and Earth, but only two worlds in the span of an entire universe yet holding so much significance. They coexist, yet both hold onto their own different, unique rules.

But, what if there were more? What if, instead of there being just two of them, there existed an infinite amount? Earth and Lugnica, multiplied infinitely.

The possibilities were endless.

Outside of every universe, there lay the same, singular space which, in a way, connected them all. It did not have a name, for it did not need one. Rather, it merely existed. Reflecting shards acted as walls, revealing to any onlooker an infinite amount of different worlds.

How fascinating.

A lone figure, floating within this space, extended a hand. Gravitating toward it was a single shard, similar to that of broken glass. It stopped only inches away, the figure flipping its palm up to let the shard cleanly hover over it.

The shard displayed its contents for the being to fully behold. Within it lied a story, unique and untold. A book, fully written, without a cover.

The figure could hear the murmuring of the others, each speaking their own words in their own voices. Some were the same, most of them were different.

Despite its curiosity, it let the shard return. The figure's head, or what it seemed to be, motioned to observe the infinite amount of crystal shards, each glistening their own reflections.

Yes, that was what he was meant to do. Throughout its lifetime, it only ever had one path: to observe. That was what it was meant to do; that was what it was.

An observer.

It had a natural wandering mind. Not like a child's innate curiosity, no, but more of a need to study, to document. Each of these universes told their own story, one that deserved to be told, to be heard and noticed.

Some of them were long, others were short. Many were depressive, sad stories that broke one's heart. Others were the opposite, containing nothing but a wholesome happiness that made almost anyone coo in delight.

There were also the ones in between. Some told complex stories, containing a satisfying mix of both elements to make things more compelling. Then, there were the tales that were so absurdly ridiculous that it became relatively entertaining, or amusing.

The observer moved, easily floating to a new location.

It recalled a few of many tales. Timelines that have been changed for better or worse due to simple, small actions.

A universe changed by an abnormal unity, altered when a lone boy took the hands of seven into a singular contract. Starting the journey anew, the seven, with the boy, returned to the start, all to help recompose the boy's story for the better, or worse.

A very touching turn of events.

A universe born due to one, small, yet fatal, decision. Fate fell into the hands of a boy during his first day, instead of the destined girl from the slums. The path of kingship lay on the horizon, the boy setting out with allies in tow as he experiences much love and hardship along the way.

How curious.

A universe that deviated from the true beginning. Upon losing his wife, a boy stepped up to take the mantle of Warlock, the world paying the price. A tragic soul, lost and trapped within his own mind, trying to find redemption in any way he can.

A truly sad tale.

A universe made mainly out of a single boy's suffering, all due to just one, small mistake. No matter how far the boy came, he would always return to the start upon his death. The progress made, vanished in an instant, forced to start from nothing once more. Yet he kept going, doing his best to push through and make the best of an impossible to reach future.

It was admirable.

A universe, born out of tragedy but actively being shaped into a better future. The boy who started the calamity, who started it all, seeking to fix it by the means at hand. Regaining the memory of his past life, of his old love, he pressed onward, more motivated than ever before. Overcoming the past in order to rise for the future, hand-in-hand with the two people he loved most.

How sad, yet inspiring.

Among those there were many others, each focusing on different captivating aspects. Unique relationships, unnatural events and unexplained origins; all of them, separate or combined, enticingly existed in each of their own rights.

It loved them all.

The observer looked around itself, taking the time to admire every single different shard.

Almost every one of them was brought into existence by one, single boy. The true main catalyst for all of these lovely different worlds. How that boy had done it, the being did not know. But that did not matter; in the multiverse, anything was possible.

Right, this was the multiverse. The ever so beautiful shards, glistening and glowing their respective unique shines, each showcasing and depicting a universe of their own.

The best part? It never stopped growing. More shards always shone into existence, exploring just a fraction more of the many infinite possibilities there really were.

The observer gave one glance over at everything, settling its focus on one gem in particular.

There were still so many untold stories. Tales to be documented, shared and studied. It was sure that it was not the only one that wished to see these untold worlds. It was sure that others, like itself, were eager to get a glimpse of what else secretly lay beyond their vision.

Was it wrong?

As the shard steadily hovered over its hand, the observer kept an open mind to itself. To expect anything, to expect nothing. Anything can happen, yet nothing may. The possibilities were endless, but each world has limits of its own.

When viewing the untold tales of the multiverse, it always helped to ponder a single question.

What if…?
