A/N: Hello! How are you doing? I am sorry to say this but I am really having a hard time finishing the "Ghost Hunt Fanfiction: THAT ASSISTANT". It was just too HARD to write a suitable ending. ARC III:PLEASE BE MY HUSBAND!

CHAPTER ELEVEN: I Didn't Know You Like To Do It On The Grass.

Ohashi-san panicked at the information and their request to tear down the wall. He reported to their Head and it is a relief that they were granted permission. That is when the argument between Yukino and Mai began.

"You crazy?! Explosives?!'

Mai and the SPR beside her flinched at the loud scream coming from the phone that was a meter away from the young woman's ear. Mai wanted to keep this conversation a secret but that assistant of hers really know how to blow things up with her big mouth. Mai pressed the loudspeaker and let the others listen.

"Yep. You're with the former prime minister, right? Do me a small favor and ask him some explosives that are not that harmful but can tear down walls."

"You lunatic! The former prime minister already gave you permission to destroy his house but you're asking him for explosives?! You're asking for a mile when given an inch! Shameless!"

Eugene and the others almost crumbled like stones when they heard that. From their past experience, Mai is really shameless and daring but they couldn't believe she's that fearless to ask explosives from the former prime minister! Their eyes were glued at the indifferent face of Mai like she was some kind of alien. The woman in the phone is right, Mai Taniyama is a lunatic.

"Hey, those explosives will be used to save a life so hurry up and sent us some. It has been an hour since the last person went missing." Mai answered her nonchalantly while letting out a sigh.

"ARG! You're going to be the death of me! Are you really sure he was kidnapped by a demon and not lost?"

"Yeah. The mediums in the group confirmed it." Mai answered with her usual nonchalant face.

'Lies! How can she be so calm while lying through her teeth?! The mediums did not told you anything!'

The SPR wanted to scream at the phone telling the person on the other side that Mai is lying but they really couldn't find Kazuya and Yuujin, who have a special telepathic link with his brother, also cannot connect to him. So explosives might be a bit over the top but it could make the search quicker than personally breaking the walls by manpower.

"Are they reliable?" Yukino asked in a suspicious tone. Mai's representative didn't know of her boss's supernatural abilities but she do know that there are people who could see or do something that normal people couldn't do. She personally witnessed Hara Masako's skills during the filming of Mai's novel's first adaptation movie.

"Yes. Hara Masako is also here too."

"Seriously?!" Shock and enthusiasm was evident in the woman's tone. Yukino is also a fan of the medium celebrity after witnessing her ability. Mai let out a sound of confirmation as Masako covered half of her face with her kimono.

"Moreover because of you, I almost got caught by that demon and suffered grievances. I. WILL. NOT. FORGET. THIS. KAWANA-SAN." Mai added with a grave face. Her tone is laced with resentment and threat.

"EEK! I am so sorry! I never thought the case was serious!" Yukino cried out after hearing that tone! She knew she would be having days-straight overtime if she continued to disagree with her domineering boss. Besides, Mai's voice is a bit serious and rushed so the situation is really not light.

"Haay. Okay! I will convince the former prime minister to send you those things. Be careful, okay?! I will use your chopper to make it quick." Yukino answered with an exasperated sigh.

She will be dealing with a high profile person after all. Yukino will have a hard time convincing the former prime minister. She is sure negotiations and compensations would be involved before they send things.

"Good Luck." Mai hang up the phone call and saw the disbelief in the SPR's faces. Mai tilted her head in confusion. From that conversation, Mai's background is that not simple. She's not just a crazy rich woman that own a private chopper, she also have the standing to negotiate with the former prime minister!

"What are you doing? We have to pack up and evacuate."

After a 30-minute wait, Yukino called Mai, informing her that the things will be sent over in an hour. Mai, together with Eugene and Lin went to inform Ohashi-san him of the situation. They met the caretaker on the hallway, telling all the guests about the plan. The Minami Company and Igarashi-sensei was a bit confused but they didn't have time to explain due to the rush.

Thanks to the fast-working staffs, they were finished evacuating in an hour and a few minutes. Only the SPR, Mai, Ohashi-san and other staffs stayed outside the mansion while the others were sent to the main house. The chopper also came in with a grand entrance.

"Holy sh*t. Damn these crazy rich people." Takigawa said while covering his ears. The wind is circling all of them as the chopper landed on the wide grassy backyard. A bodyguard and a specialist came and set up the explosives on the wall that Mai had pointed.

Mai hurriedly pressed the red button on the small detonator in her hand after the specialist got away from the wall. The small explosive attached on the wall exploded with a loud sound. They covered their ears in waited for the situation to be stable.

The explosive did not caused a big damage. It only created a small hole on the wall, enough for two people to enter simultaneously. Mai took a torch and light up the dark space through the hole. It is a room with a door on the side.

"He's okay! My brother is still alive." Eugene exclaimed. "We finally got connected. He was unconscious so I couldn't contact him a while ago."

"Is he injured?" Mai immediately asked with worry in her eyes. That man is the one she chose so she can't have him dying on her.

"He's not. He's fine." This answer made the young woman released a sigh of relieve.

'I can still ask for his name. Of course I can ask his brother but it will be more dramatic if he's the one who personally said it!'

Eugene was really amazed by Mai's ability to spend and she is doing it for his brother, no less. She even dared to negotiate with the former prime minister for his sake. Eugene doesn't know if Mai's affection for Noll is real or not but he is grateful for her kind acts. He will certainly pay her back for this and also for the clothes she bought for him!

Back to the business in hand, Mai was about to enter and check the door when Hara Masako suddenly stopped her. "Wait. Our colleagues made some protective charms. Please take one with you."

Mai turned around and saw the SPR, all are have charms and torches on their hands. Mai accepted the charm from the medium with a smile and turned to the specialist. She told them to be on standby before she and the SPR entered through the hole.

Yasuhara will be left behind to handle the equipment that is set outside. The small camera that is dangling at Lin's neck is connected to the equipment and Yasuhara will be the one monitoring them outside with Ohashi-san and some staff.

The group entered the hole and went straight to the door. Mai opened it and surprisingly, it wasn't covered by some wall or beams. It is a dark corridor and Mai was very familiar to this place. She saw it in one of the spirits she had touched. This is part of the original structure of the house. If this corridor is not blocked during the renovation, then they would reach the maze.

Mai moved and lead the SPR towards that dark place. Lin was still suspicious of this lady but Gene told him to trust her this time. Out of all of them, Mai is the only one who knows the case best. Eugene was not of help today because he had not have any visions yet so their only hope of finding Oliver is Mai. Eugene also wanted to channel a spirit but he felt shivers at Mai's previous warning about the spirits. If he did channel one now, he's afraid he will only be a burden.

"A maze?"

They all roam their flashlights around to have a better look at the area that they reached after passing through that corridor. As expected, the house was built over the original building. They can see the ceiling over the maze and above them must be the second floor.

The dead trees in front of them are clearly lined up in a maze-like shape. With the flashlight, they can see the exit through the dead branches. If the trees are alive and bushy, they wouldn't be able to see it and would get lost in the way.

Mai reached out her hand and broke through the dead trees, heading straight to the exit. The branches are easy to break so they did not bother to follow through the maze. Not long after breaking through the branches, they saw a small house.

"Ugh!" Eugene groaned suddenly and they suddenly felt an enormous energy coming from the house ahead of them.

They felt dust arising due to the force that is shaking the whole building. Seeing how much energy Oliver used, Eugene tried communicating with Oliver through the link but the one on the other end didn't answer back.

Lin was alerted and one look from Eugene is all it took for him to know what just happened. It is Oliver, using his PK. Lin and Eugene ran towards the house with the others tailing after them. The shaking stopped but it doesn't vanish the worry in their hearts. By the time they arrived in front of the house, the door was chained and locked. Lin didn't hesitate to kick the door but even if the chains are old and rusty, it is still sturdy.

"Use this." Mai's voice came from behind and they saw her carrying a big stone she got from the side. Lin quickly snatched the stone from her and used it to destroy the lock. After a few tried, the pieces of the lock was separated.

Eugene went to undo the chains as Lin threw away the stone. Immediately after opening the door, a disgusting smell came rushing towards them. Eugene caught his girlfriend who is having trouble while Takigawa, John, and Lin put themselves in front to protect the ladies.

Mai used her full aura seeing how many spirits are trapped in a small space. She knew she would attract some stronger spirits by activating it but if she did not, she would be drown in so many spirits' memories and it would be troublesome if she couldn't recover in a short amount of time.

Mai opened her eyes and saw the familiar looking lounge with a staircase in the corner. She stood up, covering her nose and lead the team towards the stairs. Lin saw where she is going and beat her to it. He ran towards the stairs and opened the nearby door.

'….Miyama Kaneyuki-shi had been hiding skeletons on his closets. LITERALLY.'

Lin suddenly remembered the words of Mai a few hours ago. His eyes widened in shock as he stared at the rows of cabinets inside the room. Each of them are filled with skeletons arranged like a trophy. The skulls are displayed in their own creepy glory. In the corner, he can see an incinerator and two rotting bodies beside it.

"Sh8t!" Takigawa cussed as Masako and Ayako gasped at the sight. John raised his hand and do the Sign of the Cross to pray for the owner of those skeletons.

The skulls on those cabinets are too many to count. This proves how many people were murdered inside this house. The rooting bodies beside that incinerator were also separated from their heads.

"Move! The execution room is at the end of the hallway." Mai woke them up and went ahead of them. Lin and Eugene followed him while Takigawa supported the ladies on full guard while cursing those idiots who always rush ahead.

"AAH! Dear Husband!" Mai screamed after opening the door and quickly rushed in.

Oliver subconsciously used a huge amount of PK after he saw the spirit in front of him. He doesn't have the time to use his brain and settled with the quicker way to save himself. His power blasted through the spirit and the wall behind him. It was completely destroyed; both the spirit and the wall. It was so powerful that the whole floor shook.

Oliver was sure Lin and Eugene felt that. His hand reached for the camcorder and stood up to run but he was stopped but a scrawny figure of a man staring at him with greed and maliciousness. His skin is so thin that his bones are showing on the surface. That figure stood inside the bathtub full of disgusting red liquid and his while body is coated with it. One look is all took for Oliver to know who he is.

"I don't want to die."

"….Miyama Kaneyuki.." Oliver glared at the figure and was ready to use his PK again but he was suddenly grabbed by a pair of hands and was pinned to the undestroyed wall. He felt his twin knocking through their link but he doesn't have time to answer him because of his dire situation in hand.

Oliver focused on gathering energy on his hands, wanting to blast the spirit that was holding him like he did with the other one. But before he could even attack the spirit behind him, he saw something moving from his peripheral. It was the Miyama monster treading towards him with the same malicious stare that brought chills down his spine.

Oliver felt excitement and fear mixed in his heart. It was the first time he had been caught face to face with a demon and he was quite glad with this kind of new information but he was also fearful of his future in this room. He knew he will survive and escape. Lin and Eugene will be here any second now. But with this powerful demon in front of him, he wasn't sure if his PK is still sufficient enough to keep his limbs intact while his coworkers aren't here yet.

Oliver's nose scrunched up with the disgusting smell of rotting and blood. He raised his head and his blue eyes met with the evil eyes presented in front of his face. Oliver kept his cool with this surprising moment. He glared at the evil face grinning at him. Oliver knew that look meant nowhere safe so he pointed his energy-filled hand at him; ready to fire his PK when..

"AAH! Dear Husband!"

Oliver frowned at the annoying voice that entered his ears. His head turned to the side and saw that annoying familiar figure coming towards his direction. Worry and fear etched on her face. She stretched her hand towards him and felt how the hands pinning him down the wall vanished. Without the hands gripping him up, Oliver slid down the wall and fell on his knees.

"No! Get away from him!" Oliver heard that woman's voice and looked up. He saw the scrawny figure reaching out his bony hands towards his face. He couldn't see anything but he saw that figure flying away from him. He heard footsteps coming near and he saw Lin and Eugene on the door.

"Noll!" Eugene called out, not noticing how he gave out his real name in front of strangers.

It all happened fast. It only took a few seconds. He didn't have time to process what was happening when a warm hand suddenly grabbed his hand and pulled him up. Oliver saw a beautiful face looking at him with worry. He was, again, fascinated by those big brown eyes that was staring right towards him. Oliver knew nothing of her but he was sure this young woman's eyes are special. Something about her just calls out to him.

"Dear Husband, you okay?"

Oliver would have answered her if not for that nickname that irks the hell out of him. He doesn't know if this woman had gone senile but he really wish she doesn't involve him into whatever annoying cats she have in her sleeves. And when did he ever answer to her impromptu proposal? Oliver doesn't even know her! Sure, her eyes are beautiful but calling him her husband is out of the question! That is crazy!

"Kazuya!"

The two heard Lin's cry and saw a comet-like light passing in between them. Their heads follow it and watched how it pierced through the creature thrown by Mai a while ago. Miyama Kaneyuki's figure was torn apart by that light as it fall back to the bathtub.

"Let's go!"Mai yelled and pulled Oliver out of the room.

Masako, Takigawa, Matsuzaki, and John saw the four of them coming out from the room and began leading them back towards the exit. They were relieved that Kazuya was still alive and unscathed. Takiagwa eyed Lin, silently asking him what is happening.

"I had paralyzed Miyama Kaneyuki so we need to escape before he gains strength." Lin answered while running.

Takigawa and Gene helped Masako, who is having difficulty running in her kimono as John and Matzusaki held hand for them not to separate, especially after hearing Lin's statement.

They passed through the maze and ran towards the corridor. Once they saw the light coming from the hole they made, Lin made sure Gene and Masako went out first before John, Matsuzaki and Takigawa. He held out his hand to Oliver once his feet stepped out of the hole. Oliver gripped his hands and pulled Mai out when he was suddenly tugged by the young woman behind him.

"AAH!" Mai let out a scream as her free hand held unto her hair.

The people around her gasped as they saw her long hair being gripped by a bony hand coming from the dark room. It was pulling her back inside the house. Oliver and Lin tried to pull her out but she screamed louder because of the pain on her scalp.

Masako and Ayako went to search for a pair of scissors to cut the hair while the others are chanting to exorcise the demon. But after a few moment, they noticed how their chants are ineffective towards the thing they are dealing with. Lin also couldn't understand how he can recover so fast after he attacked him with his shiki a few minutes ago.

A white face appeared on top of Mai's head. He is grinning at them as he pulled Mai's hair. It was as if he was mocking them because of their incompetency. Mai screamed, flashing her aura towards the creature, but it had no effect on the target. She is also getting exhausted because of her excessive use of it.

Oliver held unto her arm tighter as he gathered energy on his hand. Lin was about to stop him when the demon tugged Mai's hair hard, her neck arched. Their hearts almost stopped when they saw another thin hand holding a huge knife on top of her neck.

"AAH!"

Both Lin's shiki and Oliver's PK attacked the demon even before the knife touched Mai's neck. They also couldn't understand it but a bright light shone, blinding them all from the event that was happening in that place. They opened their closed eyes and saw Mai on top of Oliver, coughing loudly and wheezing. Underneath her, Oliver was covered in brown hair falling from the young woman's shoulders.

"Cough! Cough! The…The hell?! That knife was supposed to be over a hundred years old! Why it is that it was still sharp enough to cut my hair?!" Mai screamed as she straddled Oliver's waist while looking at the hair that was cut.

"Could you get off me?" Mai heard someone spoke and looked down.

She saw Oliver glaring at her as she noticed herself sitting on top of his waist. Using the moonlight and the brightness coming from flashlights, Mai can see how he is covered with her brown hair and was lying on the grass. Three buttons on top of his black dress shirt was popped open, showing a bit of his clavicle and collarbones. His raven hair is also messier than the last time she noticed. His thin lips are also slightly parted as if it was calling for her to touch it.

'Damn! Too sexy!' Mai's face reddened at the sight as she cleared her throat and throwing away her embarrassment.

The other people in the team saw how Mai's face became somewhat mischievous as she leaned towards Kazuya, propping a hand beside his head to support herself. They are so close that they could feel each other's body heat. Their position is so intimate that it made other people blush at the sight.

Oliver saw Mai's smirk as her red lips went to his right eyes. She can feel her breath touching his skin. Oliver lied frozen at the closeness. He doesn't know what to do at the moment. He felt something wet touched her earlobe as his face grew hot after realizing what is happening. Mai moved her face and laid her forehead on his, a teasing grin is painted on her face.

"Dear Husband, I didn't know you like to do it on the grass."

Oliver's brain was electrified by the statement as his lips was parted in shock. He can hear laughter coming above but his eyes are focused on the siren that was trying to tease him on top. Anger bubbled in his heart as he glared at the culprit of his embarrassment.

"GET. OFF!"
